Isaac Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica ( Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) was paper work till it gave us the aeroplane and rocket 400 years later.
Albert Einstein's paper "Does the inertia of a body depend upon its energy-content?" was just like any other scientific journal till the atomic bomb was produced years later.
In the science/engineering world, people build in knowledge of others. Cos some papers makes no sense today does not mean it wouldn't make sense tomorrow.

I have had lecturers with Bsc physics, MSc electronics engineering and PhD electronics lecturing in Electrical/Electronics engr. dept.
I also had a lecturer with Bsc. Electrical engineering, MSc physics teaching in Physics department.
There is a reason why physics is called the bedrock of Engineering.

My big brother, please tell him again.

There's no abstract in Physics! it deals with everything around us

I guess you are joking ryt?

When did you stop studying Physics? JSS1?

Take a small one, google MODERN PHYSICS.

Or better still, enter QUANTUM MECHANICS.

Your own case will be without clothes compared with thread-owner's picture.

Please don't get sad it's only in africa that u can go to engineering department without going through physical sciences department, sorry to burst your bubbles, lol and for ur information u physical sciences students are just wailing for nothing go and ask about a course in engineering its called design then u will know that physical science is playing session. Lol
FYI engineering is applied science, hence why its called a professional course.

You are not learned dear.
Are you applying for further studies at all?
Go through the requirements for Msc or Meng Engineering in almost all foreign universities.
Bsc or BTech in Physics is widely accepted.

Why do we have Physics graduates in IEEE society and not COREN or NSE?
Because IEEE is a foreign body, they know what it takes to study Physics.
Go and check their requirements to become a member.
You just made a huge mistake.
Please correct yourself.

Also note
TECHNOLOGY IS APPLIED SCIENCE.
Its Bachelor of Technology Bro, not Bachelor of Science.
BTech Industrial Physics

I studied Industrial Physics in FUTO graduated with a second class upper.
I specialized in Electronics Option, where we joined EEE classes in most of their Electronics Engineering courses.
I must confess Electrical/Electronics Engineering is quite cheap compared to Industrial Physics.
We see EEE courses as GP BOOSTERS (BONUS).
Every semester, we pray to do more of EEE courses, because we easily smash them.

Name them:
EEE 307: Engineering Control System Analysis and Design (A)
EEE301: Network Theory (A)
ENG 201: Engineering Workshop Practice II (B)
ENG 205: Introduction to Engineering Materials(B)
EEE 202: Basic Electronics Engineering (A)
EEE 204: Digital Logic Techniques (B)
ENG 104: Engineering Drawing II (B)
ECE 316: Applied Electronics (B)
ECE 411: Advanced Electronics and Studio (B)
ECE 509: Industrial Electronics II (A)
ECE 405: Semiconductor Devices Technology (A)

That was a few to mention, so cheap, we start reading them up 1 week to exam.
We give all attention to our Physics courses yet see some results:

PHY 403: Quantum Mechanics I (D)
PHY 501: Quantum Mechanics II (D)
PHY 504: Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy (C)
PHY 502: Statistical Physics (D)
PHY 313: Solid State Physics (C)
PHY 308: Experimental Physics IV (C)

Though
PHY 301: Analytical Mechanics I (A)
PHY 401: Analytical Mechanics II (A)
PHY 311: Thermal Physics (B)
PHY 405: Electricity and Magnetism (A)
PHY 413: Solid State Physics II (A)
PHY 514: Quantum Electronics II (A)

I can scan and upload my Transcript as proof.
So Tell me, if i never did Physics and did only EEE, maybe i might have been first class.

ENGINEERING students should also note that ENGINEERING IS A PROFESSION.
A BTech graduate of Industrial Physics can work as a professional Engineer in shell or anywhere.
I hate it when I hear because u did not study Engineering, u are not an Engineer.
That is a stupid mans mentality.

Google the definition of ENGINEERING.
Google the definition of AN ENGINEER.
And revert back to me.

Please after this explanation, I wouldn't like to hear any argument of such again, comparing Physics with any Engineering Major.
As we all know Physics is the father of all Engineering raised to power of INFINITY.
Just that Engineers get job more often than Physicists.
But a Physicists with MSc in Engineering will always be preferred than its engineering competitor.

My regards to all...

Politics / Re: The Real War Is Oil by bykomartin: 12:14am On Jan 21, 2016
tempest01:
if your theories were right, then its effect would have been increased oil price not reduced oil price.

Actually the law restricting the USA from oil export has been expunged, and there are no more just consumers. They were on the verge of exporting their shale oil, that is why OPEC reduced the price to force them out of the market. That's the main reason oil prices might stay low for long. If OPEC raises the price, it would be economic for USA to produce shale oil (Unconventional) and export.

Now that is one way of looking at it.
Politics / The Real War Is Oil by bykomartin: 11:47pm On Jan 20, 2016
THE REAL WAR IS OIL

Shell to sack 10,000 employees...
Countries economy collapsing...

It is important we all know what is behind the fall of oil prices.
The real war is oil.

All these are happening because US wants to sideline Russia (being the major gas distributor in the region) by passing underground pipeline from Saudi Arabia through Syria to Europe.

Syrian President opposed the passage of this pipeline, issues erupted from nowhere in Syria (ISIS, Rebels), US wants Syrian President out by arming rebels.

Russia being Syria's ally stepped into the game.

The US wants to hit Russia by getting the Saudis to produce more oil and getting oil prices to drop.

This will add to hit the Russian currency and sanctions on Russia.
In 2014, the price was $115 per barrel, it dropped to $50 - 60 last year and now it is in the $20's mark.

It may be good for the US, as they managed to lower their expenditure on oil importation, helping lowering costs of electricity and factory costs.

But Russia expected such a hit, as it's not the first time having experienced the same thing while fighting in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

They spent years preparing for it, that's why the falling oil price tactics won't work.

It may be a double whammy hoping to hit Iranian economy with the lowering of prices of oil.

But like Russia, their economy is not solely based on oil, so they'll survive.

The real winners will be the US and Europe being more of a consumer than a producer of oil, but Canada and other countries will take a hit from the move.

It is interesting how things will unfold, especially now that Iran's ban has been lifted by the US and Iran is free to join the oil market.

This is another plan by the US to further lower oil prices as there would be competitions.

We'll see many countries stop exporting oil or even stop pumping it.

So, the prices can never stay low and will have to get higher as demands will then be high.

For every country, the aim of the game is to stay standing.
For the US, it helps its economic recovery while hard hitting their enemies.

But if the alliances in the Middle East changes, it could blow up in their (US) face.

Either way, the US couldn't have achieved this without their influences in OPEC, especially their strongest ally Saudi Arabia.
That's why Wahhabism is so strong, and their bloody history is whitewashed by US Support, but at least you know that bigotry and hypocrisy is not for free.
I would like to know, what does Israel provide to receive similar unlimited support?

SIMILAR OIL WAR BETWEEN THE US AND THE SOVIETS (RUSSIA) IN THE 1985 RUSSIA-AFGHANISTAN WAR

The average prices of oil in winter 1985 was $25 per barrel.
It dropped to $10 per barrel in 1986 to replenish US economy and exhaust Soviet (Russia) economy that was fighting in Afghanistan.
History is repeating itself.
The difference is that the Russians are prepared for it this time round, they still have their natural gas and other industries to keep them afloat.
We haven't heard the last of the Ukraine and Syria, it will pop up this year if the oil strategy by the US does not work.
It seems that downing of the Russian Fighter Jet is not innocent after all, and Turkey is already seeking Israeli Gas as an alternative to the Russian Gas.
It is all dirty, World War 3 !!!

FURTHERMORE,

There are countries that may walk away from pumping oil like Algeria, as it may not be viable for them at the dropping prices, especially with re-entering of Iranians to the market.
On the other hand, consumers in the US will feel the difference in the dropping prices, electricity will be cheaper and so will manufacturing, possible heating.
There are more pros than cons, especially with water problems, and pressing the Russian economy along with sanctions.
It is a populist strategy with the public and very aggressive towards the Russians.

It will be interesting to see how things unfold this 2016 as this can't be realistically sustained for the long run.
I would like to add that, it is all by proxy, because direct decisions can be confrontational.
There are many incidents that made Putin look like any other corrupt politician but these central banksters (US) are pushing for a NEW WORLD ORDER which is really communist fascism in disguise.
Putin and Xi Jinping could be the ones to save the world from a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT (ILLUMINATI).

THE US PLAN RIGHT NOW COULD BE;

"We want Russia to be right where it is. In a trap with devalued oil resources. Russia trapped and pinned with a war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Flooding Europe with refugees and causing an economic and societal collapse of Western Europe. If it gets warmer and gain advantage we may enter the fray but have no compelling interest (oil) at this time. Russia expends its bankroll and has to submit to US hegemony is our endgame. Russia could always re-assert its influence by invading or otherwise controlling the former soviet and eastern block and fill its coffers through looting (WWII scenario)."

How goes Turkey, Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan might be the real question?

sholay2011:

Have you checked that you meet the minimum requirements of your intended course of study? If yes, have you mailed the graduate advisor of your department to inquire about admission, funding et al.?

Note: I didn't even do these first two steps I just mentioned but that doesn't mean they're a waste of time.

Then, you can start gathering your documents: Graduate certificate (if you're going for Masters), Statement of purpose/intent/motivation (C'est la meme chose), CV, GRE score sheet (I think most departments require GRE), your personal copy of your transcript etc. If you're confident in your chances of admission, you can even ask your school to send your original transcript to them as the first step so that doesn't stall anything when it's eventually requested for.

If you had a quite good CGPA in your undergraduate (especially the last two semesters), ensure you back it up with a passionate, personalised and knowledge-based Statement of Purpose to increase your chances of being considered for the University of Manitoba Graduate Felowship alongside admission.

Those are the points I have for now. It's advisable you mail lecturers whose research interests in your intended course of study coincide with yours to secure a supervisor. Follow the mails with calls if necessary. I have read from NL how getting a supervisor is one of the conditions for admission.

For my department though, you get admitted and choose your supervisor after getting to know them very well. Best wishes.

Please sholay send me the statement of purpose u sent to ajibade

Politics / [must Read] Gov Amaechi’s Channels Tv Interview About Election Postponement by bykomartin: 2:49am On Mar 12, 2015
Journalist:
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP, Fani Kayode said that the APC is planning to rig the 2015 elections. How are you doing this?
Amaechi:
Well, I would have loved to respond to that but the person who is speaking lacks credibility.
Have you heard of all the things he said since he was in APC, all the things he said about the president, all he said about PDP. Now, he has joined PDP and he is saying similar things to APC.
Why do you respond to that? What powers do we have to rig the election? What powers do we have to postpone elections?
The president was in a meeting where all Nigerians said don’t postpone elections and he went ahead to postpone elections.
Who has more capacity to rig elections, PDP or APC? Can you move to your next question because I think it’s an unnecessary issue to discuss. The reason it’s an unnecessary issue is because Fani Kayode lacks credibility. If the right person speaks, we respond. Please can you move to your next question?

Journalist:
You have criticized the sense behind the postponement but it was based on the issue of security…
Amaechi:
Please tell me what security is that. Two weeks before that, the Chief of defense staff with his military chiefs came out and said we are prepared to provide security for this election.
Between that day they spoke and the day election was postponed, what has happened?
Boko Haram has become more dangerous? Have killed more persons that they killed in Baga?
What has changed?

Journalist:
If it was obvious to the security agencies that the elections if held would cause loss of life and property.
You are in charge of security in your state, would you have allowed such a thing to happen?
Amaechi:
Segun, there was one question I raised, in 2007 we had similar security crisis in the Niger Delta.
Today, everyday somebody is killed in Rivers state with the connivance of the Nigerian police…

Journalist:
When you say connivance of the Nigerian police, what do you mean?
Amaechi:
They know the persons, they do nothing. A policeman was shot at Okirika, they know it was Ateke that ordered the shooting, and they know that the wife of the president authorized the shooting.
What have they done?

Journalist:
When you make all these claims, how are you sure?
Amaechi:
You just said now that I am the chief security officer, so don’t you know that I am privileged to information. You know when the president said his election is not worth the blood of any Nigerian, you ask him; what of all those Nigerians that are killed, are they Biafrans?
The policeman that was killed at Okirika, is he from Congo or is he Chinese?

Journalist:
Your party at some point said that the plan for the postponement of elections was a grand plan by the PDP and one would wonder that it was INEC that postponed elections.
Amaechi:
How do you know? Please don’t get INEC involved. I just told you here clearly that the chairman of INEC in a meeting that all of us were present stated directly to the president;
“Everything INEC needs to do, we have done. If you claim that the elections of 2011 was very credible and one of the best elections that we have organized in Nigeria. I am now more prepared to conduct a better election than I was in 2011”

Journalist:
Do you think INEC was truly prepared for elections as at February 14?
Amaechi:
Professor Jega is not a man who talks carelessly.

Journalist:
At that time, INEC has distributed 64% of PVC but by now they have distributed over 75%.
Amaechi:
Ok, so let’s go to some of the questions that he raised. When will INEC be said to be prepared?
When they have distributed 100%, 80%, 50%, 64% ? At what point?
If they have crossed the 50% mark, then you ask yourself, how many Nigerians vote?
What is the percentage of Nigerians that vote? They have exceeded that.
(Laughs) I listen to the governor of cross river say INEC must distribute 100% of PVCs before we can conduct elections. So, if a man refuses to go to collect his PVC, what happens?
Is the president saying that if elections were to be conducted on that day and he would have won, would he have asked for postponement?

Journalist:
Your party has shown grievances about the postponement of the election but reasons were to fight Boko Haram. We could see some improvement in the fight against the insurgents in the past few days.
Amaechi:
What is the president doing now that he couldn’t do earlier? Did he hire new Nigerian soldiers?
The money that he used in buying these weapons, where they not there? Was the dollar not cheaper then than it is now?
So, is it possible that it is true that the allegations made by some people that the reason why Boko Haram is not been fought in the north is for political reasons and now it appears that one of the reasons that Nigerians do not want to vote Jonathan is simply because he couldn’t fight Boko Haram.
So, is he fighting Boko Haram now as a way of resolving that issue?
Well, Nigerians have made up their minds. Those who will vote Jonathan will vote for him, those who won’t vote for him, won’t vote for him. There is darkness in the land. There is darkness in the land.
If the president likes, he can commission as many power projects as he likes, it will not change the minds of Nigerians. And the truth is that, the more power projects the president commissions, the more we are in darkness. I’m sure you are using generator now.

Journalist:
Do you think the postponement affected your chances…
Amaechi:
How will it? You just heard me, I have answered you. If you like postpone it to June 1, you know the government ends May 29. It doesn’t stop the wind of CHANGE.
Buhari ran in 2011, did you hear of change? Nigerians will vote across ethnic lines.
Nobody will say today that, well, the president is from south south therefore we must vote for the president. NO NO NO, the issues are; why is the dollar now N225?
Virtually everything you eat and wear is imported. So, inflation is on the rise.
So, if you tell a man now to vote for President Jonathan because he is from south south when the president’s pocket is different from your pocket.
You can’t say that. Nobody has talked about the fact that Naira has been devalued.

Journalist:
You seem to be confident about your party’s chances and one would wonder where the confident is coming from.
Amaechi:
Are you not confident? Don’t tell me CHANGE behind. Say it public..

Journalist:
No, I’m a journalist. I can be…
Amaechi:
Addressing the rally, I had said that the political equation has changed. Let’s do the political equation.
In 2011, the whole of south south voted President Jonathan. The whole of south east voted President Jonathan and the voting was because he is our son.
The whole of south west voted President Jonathan excluding Osun. Then he won some states in the north and got about 22 million votes, Buhari had 12 million votes.
Is that political equation still on ground now?
Let’s even assume that everybody in the south south, south east vote for President Jonathan, the figure has changed. That is why they are fighting against the card reader.
PDP doesn’t want the card reader because they want to write results. The card reader mitigates rigging so you cannot do what they do before. The card reader accommodates only those who brought their PVCs, the genuine voters.
So, if out of 500 persons in a unit, only 300 comes, the 300 will be recorded. So, it limits rigging.
So, you ask yourself, why is the PDP not supporting card reader? Why are they saying Jega must go?
Why are they in court over the card reader?

Journalist:
Do you think that military should be used for security in this election?
Amaechi:
There is a judgment of high court and court of appeal that said military should not be used for the election.

Journalist:
What if they are used, what would you do?
Amaechi:
As usual, don’t say what if they are used, that is one of the plan of which PDP are hoping to rig elections.

Journalist:
When you say the plan for them to rig the elections, what do you mean?
Amaechi:
They intend to use the military to intimidate voters. You saw what happened in Ekiti state. Didn’t you see what happened in Ekiti state? Where General Momoh, a whole general in the Nigerian army, was telling Obanikoro that you want me to cry and then he was promised promotion.
Up till now, he has not been called forward to defend himself.
(LAUGHS) Please, I don’t want to go into the military because the military is a sacred institution. Can we go into something else?

Journalist:
South west is a very strong base for your party but we have seen some endorsement for President Jonathan from leaders in the south west and from traditional rulers.
Amaechi:
Segun, why not wait till Election Day. Even you from south west, who will you vote for?
Is the man who said he will vote Jonathan, voting for Jonathan because if he votes for Jonathan, the dollar will run back from 215 to 170?
Will voting for Jonathan address the issue of N2.3 TRILLION NAIRA that was stolen for oil subsidy?
Will voting for Jonathan address the $20 BILLION DOLLAR that was missing?
Or the $10.2 BILLION DOLLAR minister for finance acknowledged that was missing?
Or the N30 TRILLION NAIRA that former CBN governor was talking about?
It won’t !!! So, it won’t address corruption. The way Nigeria is now, Nigeria is poised for CHANGE and I think south west should be part of that change.

Journalist:
Obasanjo leaving PDP, does this give your party any chance?
Amaechi:
He left too late because he felt as part of those who found PDP, I should remain in PDP but as somebody who is patriotic, he should have left PDP longtime.

Journalist:
Just like you left?
Amaechi:
Yes, I saw that we were heading to nowhere. That if we needed to put this country together…
Are you proud to be a Nigerian? When you go on the streets, people who used to respect you now abuse you. Before, Niger, Chad used to come here, under Babangida up to Yar’dua. Now, we go there to hold meetings. What makes you that proud Nigerian that you used to be?
Ghanaian President now summons us to Ghana, Togo, Benin because we have lost those things that gave us pride. We need to fix it and Buhari will be the first step to fixing it.
