If Nigeria is transitioning to ethnic regional Structure as being considered, then, new states creation and realignment to reflect regional balancing is a necessity. It is therefore not surprising why state creation bills are flooding the national assembly. One of such states that is inevitable is a new state from Rivers state.

Call it Upland state, Portharcourt state, Igweocha or Orashi state, all Igbo speaking people in the present rivers state need a new state that must be in the same region with other Igbo-speaking states.

It all started in 1967 during the civil war when the old Ahoada and Portharcourt division of the Eastern region who never demanded for a state were made part of the Old rivers state through military fiat. Later in 1976, Obigbo and Egbema were forcefully drawn into Rivers through a controversial boundary adjustment after much resistance.

Since then, efforts have been made for reunification, one of which was the restructuring proposal of late prof Ben Nwabueze. But the most visible was that of Obi Wali, an Ikwerre from Portharcourt who clamoured for a Portharcourt state for the south east before he was murdered.

There is a problem. Some Ikwerre politicians have tasted political power in Rivers state and the free flowing oil wealth that comes with it and are now drunk with delusion. They deny and distance themselves from their ethnic identity in order to curry favour from the post-war powers-that-be and sustain their position. They even go the extent of bullying and neglecting Igbo groups their assert their Igboness in the state.

But the Ikwerres have a problem too. A large chunk of the oil and gas resources that made rivers state rich is located in the neglected parts of the state that assert their Igboness, such as Obigbo, Egbema Ndoni etc
These areas are so crucial to Rivers state economic prosperity that tens of oil wells disputed by Imo and Rivers during the short-lived Ihedioha administration saw Wike running to Owerri to beg Ihedioha for settlement. When Rivers won at the supreme court against the boundary commission that adjudged the oil wells part of Imo state, wike held a Thanksgiving for it. Again, highlighting how important boundary oil wells are to Rivers state economy.

Now, there is even a bigger problem for the Ikwerres. The new regionalism debate has opened a door of opportunity for the neglected LGAs of Obigbo Egbema Ndoni etc to demand for their own Igbo speaking state to be part of an Igbo speaking region. Note that Anioma people, with their human and humongous oil and gas resources are already clamouring for a state to join the Igbo speaking region. This means that the structural outlook of the country will significantly change with the Igbo speaking region increasing in Economic and political influence. For instance, Imo has already overtaken Rivers state in GDP figures with much of its gas resources untapped. Anambra's gas resources remains untapped too. With Anioma joining the pack, it'll make it three proven "gas giant" states and other potential natural gas bearing states, and this will place them at par with Niger Delta in oil/gas resources, at least or make them the "new bride" of the country economically away from the Niger Delta

Therefore, if these people from Rivers choose to join an Igbo region, it'll further boost the
fortunes of the region and they'll surely get massive support from Igbos. If they include others such as Ogba and Etche without Ikwerre, they'll likely follow them considering the volume of their resources. Then, it would mean Ikwerres will be left with a Rivers state remnant, diminished both in clout and in cash. This will be a problem for them considering they are neither so hardworking nor invested in creativity. They will have no choice than to be part of an upland Igbo speaking state.

Considering the history of resentment in Obigbo, Egbema etc we will not be shocked to see a state creation request from them soon. If they do it first, with the support of Igbos, they'll have a state in their own terms that will include Ikwerres. This is why Ikwerres must repeat what Obi wali did by doing it first for their own good.
We might be moving towards self determination. It's good to be close to each other so that when velvet divorce calls, we heed.

It took me alot of courage to open about this online after so many years. Please help me find a solution.

I wish there is any permanent solution to this skin infection. I've been suffering from this for more than 7years. It's itchy and worsens Whenever I sweat, especially after doing some work under the sun, the infection becomes swollen a bit and I feel pains all over my body because the salt inside the sweat touches the infection. It is very painful like when someone adds salt to a fresh injury!

I recently did a skin endoscopy test and have taken the medication prescribed by the doctor twice but all to no avail. In the past I took so many drugs and rubbed so many antibacterial cream including funbact A but the infection persisted, right now I am feeling heat and can't sleep because of the itch. I wish I can express my pain in voice, I can't even go shirtless in public or do any activity that will result to me sweating, some days I bath four times to avoid it getting worse. I wash my clothes every day and don't wear any one twice before wash but all this has resulted to it getting more worse. I wonder the final solution, please help out!!! I am tired.

Now you want them to divide Enugu State again to get Adada state. Those from Imo and Anambra States who were agitating for Orlu/Njaba state before Ebonyi state was created, don't they have equal rights with people in the former Enugu State? Be considerate.

He will soon collect from his local politicians and he's gonna be sued. I knew this is how it would end. This was not the first time. This is how Israel has been doing for years since 2005 after withdrawing from Gaza.

Reports indicate that it has been replaced with a statue of Jesus Christ as a shepherd leading his flocks. Additionally, the flag of Israel has been hung on the staff of the statue.

The monolith, known as the Ikom monoliths, is part of a series of volcanic-stone monoliths from the area of Ikom. The Ejagham people are believed to have engraved the monoliths around 200 CE.

The monolith stands between 0.3 and 1.8 metres (1 and 6 feet) high and is laid out in some 30 circles located around Alok in the Ikom area of Cross River State.

This change has sparked mixed reactions on social media.
