A student of the University of Ilorin, Kwara state, Babatunde Kehinde Sikiru has been hailed online after he revealed how bright he is academically, Siggy reports.

Babatunde is in the Department of Physics, under the Faculty Physical Sciences.

The young man who will be entering 300 level upon a new session ,shared his 200 level result showing that he got all As in the eight courses offered.

He prayed to God to equip him with the preparedness to replicate the result in his third year at the university.

The undergraduate, like many others is unable to resume academic studies because the Academic Staff Union of Universities is on a two month strike.

Sharing a snapshot of his result, Babatunde wrote;

”God…I want this type of result again in 300lv 1st and 2nd semester….����”

Nigerians on the social media platform commended him and gave suggestions on how he can achieve his goal in 300 level.

A student of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) and a businessman were on Monday, March 28, arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos for alleged forgery, Siggy reports.

The defendants, Yusuf Ayoola, 49, and Feyisara Otubambo, 20, are being tried for forging the school’s letterhead and the registrar’s signature, and are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace, and forgery.

In the court proceedings, it was revealed that Ayoola who owned a cybercafe located on the school premises was paid by Otubambo, a student who had just finished her diploma program and awaiting her certificate, to forge a “To Whom It May Concern” letter on her behalf, on December 11, 2021.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Linda Balogun, admitted the first defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and granted the second defendant N200, 000 bail with one surety. She directed that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until April 13 for mention.

Ekemini David Abasi Nse, a 400 level student of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) Ebonyi State, has been elected the National President of Education Students’ Association of Nigeria (ESAN), Siggy reports.

Ekemini David who is a student of Guidance and Counseling, Faculty of Education and the Chairman of the FUNAI Debating Society emerged the winner after defeating two other candidates with 48.1% of the total votes cast, in an online election that was held on 19th March 2022.

ESAN is a students’ organization in the Nigerian tertiary education system, comprising students of Faculties of Education in federal, state, and private universities, and Colleges of Education.

Three Nigerian students have expressed how the current Academic Staff Universities union (ASUU) strike has made them learn skills while sitting at home, Siggy reports.

In a BBC interview, Nigerian students have lamented about the crisis caused by the incessant Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, and how it has caused them untoward hardship.

Two young students who spoke to the BBC said that it has affected them and their time is being wasted. It should be noted that lecturers went on strike because of unpaid allowances.

One of the students, identified as Nwachukwu Goodness Chidinma, said she has been using her time to apply for scholarships abroad and get online jobs

A UI student, named, Ayomide Babalola Elizabeth, revealed that though she does not have a Plan B, she has been working on her music career

A student of the University of Ibadan (UI), Ayomide Babalola Elizabeth, said that a course she should be studying for four years may take her five to six years because of perpetual strike actions.

Ganikanwa Chukwunonso Davis, studying at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), stated that they have paid for hostels they are not staying because of the strike action.

Another undergraduate, Nwachukwu Goodness Chidinma of FUTO, added that she should have been done with university education, but despite being in school for five years, she is still in 300 level.

According to Elizabeth, she is using the forced holiday to perform as a gospel artiste. Chidinma on the other hand is working as a freelancer online. Plan B Chukwunonso has resorted to learning how to make clothes.

All of them except Chidinma said they do not have a plan B. The online freelancer said she has been applying for scholarships and will be glad to leave the country.
