It's PPR ladies and gentle men. All thanks to God Almighty.

My journey to cannyland started in 2016, wrote ielts but couldn't get the required scores. So I decided to seek for admission which I got in 2017 but was denied study visa thrice. In the process of applying to schools in US to study my desired course, we got nominated in 2018 by Saskatchewan, this pnp app was almost a year, done in 2017, so it came as a blessing.

Wrote ielts 2ce, spouse wrote after nomination because ielts was expired after nom.

adeptonlin:
Quick one please, I want to claim work experience from my NYSC. I served in Nigeria Prisons Service over 5years ago. But the issue is that most of the staff that I know then have been transferred to different locations and some are retired.
How can I get a reference letter to that effect? I can provide bank statement for monthly stipends paid by the federal government for 11 months duration.

And which NOC will it fall under?

1) its possible and it takes +_ 6 months
2) for non-express entry it takes +-19months from nomination to PPR

vickyehi:
EMERGENCY QUESTION PLEASE!
ECA isn't ready yet for my sibling and want to do the MPNP.
my questions are;

1.... has anyone gone through the MPNP process directly without an express entry ID and if so how long did it take from LAA to nomination?
2.....how long did it take from nomination to PPR? was it actually the 19mth processing time or the 6mth processing time
thank you all for your responses.

IMO i'll advise you to settle down first in a province where you know someone for smooth integration

overcomer296:
Good day seniors and those not yet landed. I greet you all.

I am awaiting PPR, so I decided to come here for information.
I'd like to ask, how do you all get to easily pick the city\province to settle in?

I need advice pls. I have over 10years banking experience in Marketing n customer service. Spouse's Field is community devpt, but ready to take on any legal well paying job

Initially, my fears abt relocating was the weather. So I picked Ontario/GTA to settle. Spouse has a sibling in Saskatoon. She has been advising us to land in Saskatoon ist as she will help rent a place, help with furnishing like mattresses before we even land, employment applications, help take us around in the early days to enable us not spend much. She suggested that we can then move to any province we like.

Is this wise? I've read that Saskatoon is really cold and will it really be easy to just start relocating later on? My son will be 4 by September and was hoping to enrol him in a school in Ontario by then and get working. However, with Saskatoon I guess that will be postponed by a year and I'll have to make do of part time jobs.

What do you guys think? Is it really difficult to settle /integrate if don't know anyone in Ontario/GTA/Canada.

People who were in this situation how did you do it

Sorry for the long post

WoodcrestMayor:
Hi guys!
How una dey? Una wey dey load PPR, I pray for speedy processing *halo smiley*.
On a lighter note now guys...we've all come here to better our lives and our tomorrow. We all know Canada is a credit society and every damn thing including buying Sim cards revolve around credit ratings. Let us ensure we keep our credit records pristine. Nothing beats Transunion and Equifax. I sat on an appointment where a guy's credit card application was declined due to a phone bill be probably had forgotten. Also, I know we all have different capacities and family size but think of it in Naija terms; didn't we live within our means? I'm not against credit as you can't escape it here. All I'm saying is that you avoid unnecessary credit. See your credit card as a tool to improve your credit score and not as some sort of loan. We get paid at work so we would still survive if we didn't have the credit card. The rates are crazy and before you know it, you start sinking into debts. Don't max out your credit card limit as it sends wrong signal to the credit bureau guys. It tells them you rely heavily on your credit card for survival. Generally, it is advisable to keep it below 30% of your combined limit. Credit cards are revolving credit and not managing it well will affect your chances of getting other revolving credit in future e.g Line of credit or Home line plans. Even if you have a good credit score, they will be more willing to grant you a fixed term loan. Also, save for retirement. Every penny counts and the compound interest is unrivaled in things like this. RRSP vs TFSA...both have their advantages. Try to max out your RRSPs for tax returns which you can also invest or spend on other things.
Summarily, be very close to your bankers. Banking is very different here to what we have back home. Bankers are trained to look more after your interest here.

Be careful of doing business back home... enough fraud stories dey. Besides, the naira isn't helping your real return on the investment.

Lastly, if you are or know anyone coming into Edmonton, I'm your plug for all your banking needs. Send me a message so I can book you in for an appointment a couple of days ahead. I sit at the ice district branch just before the escalator going up to the city of Edmonton office- you can't miss it. We currently have a campaign running for newcomers and your banking fee is waived for one year and you also get up to 2k credit card unsecured.Everything starts with a banking account here. If there's anything too advanced for me to help you with, I will gladly refer you my team of expert partners (mortgages, financial planning, invest and retirement planning...etc)

May Canada favour us all *halo smiley* smiley
Thank you for this.God bless you

Chai! I missed page 1? My PPR will be in this part 7. Meanwhile, posting this for my friend...

I want to share my story to encourage someone
The taught about relocation to Canada was initiated in early 2015 by my Hubby's friend who had just relocated to Canada. At first I refuted the idea cos I just started a new business and my master's degree program. I imaged dropping them just like that. However, after must pressure and explanation from hubby I gave in, then the journey started.
I decided to follow it through two strategies: firstly to write my licencing exams from naija and get a job n migrate, secondly, to go through express entry.

In December 2015, I wrote my first ielts. It was a terrible experience. I came to the exam hall by 8.45am only to meet a closed exam hall. We were abt 25 candidates who came late. The examiner asked us to go, after much pleading we were allowed to enter the hall, but our listening was conducted separate. I didn't do well at all cos of I was tensed.

Then in 2016 I started again with 2nd ielts ( LRWS 7.5,6.5,7.5,cool, document evaluation, online classes for licensing exams and exam registration. I then applied for Canada visa to go n write the exam but was rejected twice n I missed the exam. I was depressed. At that point we decided to quit the process n focus in naija.

However, in 2017 we decided to just enter the pool.
Our crs score was 395, I decided to leave it like that and continue my life hoping that one day the score will drop.

In Jan 2018, my Hubby's colleague told him that his is relocating to Canada with his family next month.
That news made my hubby to start having a rethink abt continuing but I convinced him otherwise n told him that we should remain focused on our new year resolution, so he agreed.
Then 2 weeks later a customer told me she was relocating to Canada too in May. This news woke me up from my slumber. Then we decided to start all over. At this point I surfed the net to find out ways to improve my scores. My hubby did ielts n document evaluation.
My ielts journey began again in 2018
3rd ielts attempt march 24 LRWS 6.5,7,6.5,7
4th attempt May 24 LRWS 7,7,7,7
Then I took I month leave to study, I read every every, full of confidence. I booked two exams one week apart. Hoping that one must be good as I was determined to enter Canada by all means
5th attempt June 30th LRWS 8,7,6,7
6th attempt July 7th LRWS 8.5,7,6.5,7
I wept bitterly at this point, hw with encouragement from family n friends I was more determined. Then my brother in-law paid for my 7th attempt to encourage me. I read my ass out, hired a tutor to Mark my essay wrote over 50 essays as I figured out that writing was my problem. I even did group reading with an old friend who was also writing ielts to make sure I pass( u know that feeling when someone is paying you don't want to fail). I also tripled my prayers.
7th attempt August 18th LRWS 9,8,6.5,7.5
At this point I didn't cry neither was I depressed I decided to quit, perhaps Canada is not for me. My friend talked said one word that struck me " I don't know abt you but am not quitting " . then I decided to do it one last time. She also told me abt mod ielts I decided to give it a trial as its been BC all along. My brother in-law paid for my ielts again, then I booked the exam. I had only a week to prepare. At that point I decided to stick to only one technique. I also applied for EOR .
8th attempt 8th September mod LRWS 8.5,7.5,7,7.5
This was the turning point
I updated my profile on 2nd Oct my score rose to 470
ITA 3rd Oct
AOR 28th September
Passed medicals 7th jan 19
Biometrics 10th Jan 19
PPR on 24th Jan 19
Submitted passport on 28th Jan 19
Passport ready on 16th Jan 19
Collected passport on 18th Jan

I thank God for every thing, n all my family n friends especially nairalanders your stories n suggestions were really helpful.
Don't give up your miracle is on the way.

TIMELINE
I sat for IELTS 4 TIMES and on numerous occasions I thought of giving up for so many reasons for people like me who resides in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State…you either travel to Calabar or Ph to write IELTS it was never easy for me…but I was pushed by @bronze25 to keep trying..

2ND IELTS; L.6.0,R.6.5,W.6.5,S7.0
3RD IELTS;L.7.5,6.5,W.7.5,S.7.0 (at this point I was going crazy…I even lost it a night to the 4th exam…)
4th IELTS; L.8.0,R.7.0,W.7.5,S.7.5
Then CRS stood at 462 at this point and the round of draws on the 15th of November 2018 was 449 (Naso ITA no drop on time…my wife was almost crying and she didn’t eat until when ITA dropped around 9.30pm)
