Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I blame YouTube, I was minding my own business when the advert came up and I was hooked. Never read the books, I didn't even watch the Jim Carey film sef. How convenient that Netflix released it today - I only watched this ad at 3am this morning. Damn you Netflix! |
moneyallowed:They push DD too much at the expense of others. |
As usual, you haven't noticed that your website appears to be blacklisted. When clickbait fails...oh well... |
And when are they releasing Jessica Jones season 2?! Free me na... |
Freciprocal:Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I'm sure his parents paid those people. Meaning those guys got paid twice! Delinquent Douche - the gift that keeps on giving. |
BraniacX:I specifically said MCU, I didn't even touch the comics, since May is an original MCU character created in AoS, just like Coulson is a MCU (first scene in Iron Man) character. Actually, Calvary is from the Bahrain mission, where she killed the Inhuman kid, who was controlling everybody. She might not like her codename since it's started from that incident. But, she's proved herself worthy of it. Still say Bobbi would be kissing the pavement. |
BraniacX:If that where the case then Bobbi would be SHIELD's top dog. You call The Cavalry when all hope is lost, your last resort. She is a legend in SHIELD's books and in the MCU verse Bobbi never even reach that level. And as we've seen May's prowess has also made her formidable trainer. Or have we forgotten who trained Daisy? As for the Berserker moment, she said it herself - she doesn't repress her bad memories, she lives with them everyday. So she was able to not let the rage win. You can rewatch that episode to remind yourself. At the emboldened, tell us when that happened... As for the Cavalry spelling, even I made the same mistake before I corrected myself. I believe it's one of those things that we always default to Calvary because of the way we pronounce it. |
MJBOLT:I thought I already implied about Dorothy when talking about the countries with their offshoot (eg Red Room originally being a part of Hydra, which appeared to be an offshoot of German Military Intelligence and somehow becoming a part of the KGB (Russian) - I guess we blame Hydra for being all international). We never really see Agent 13's badassery, especially when compared to her grand aunt, Peggy. But, hence why I made the blanket human Marvel Ladies shoutout. All else we'd have been here all day with me yammering on and on. Anywho, I'm about to give AoS: Slingshot web series a go. Didn't know it existed sef, damn Marvel sprinkling random stuff here and there. Just like they did with the Marvel One-Shots....man, I miss those. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDe0CguuqcMBVtZJk0iCNoSblixvAt4BY |
BraniacX:Enforcer?! So May is not an enforcer? Abeg bros don't make me laugh. Her codename alone tells you what she is - The Cavalry (we all keep spelling it the wrong way - Calvary is a religious thing, basically the place of Christ's crucifixion), simply refers to soldiers on horseback, now it's more of soldiers in armoured vehicles with specific roles. Basically, back in day, the cavalry was basically the most imposing & mobile group of soldiers you'd see, imagine your ass standing there with your sword, and you see these mofos on horseback galloping at you, ready to tear you to shreds... Their imposing nature alone with their speed, added height, greater mobility and greater psychological advantage against your mere slow two legged ass. Of course, it's more different now, but they're now armoured tanks and air support now acting as cavalry. Well, I'm sure y'all can read the Wikipedia page for better understanding. Anywho, she welded the Berserker staff and wasn't overcome by it. As far as we know she's the only human to not be affected by its long term side effects. Her level headedness, willingness to do things that no one would and acceptance of how things work certainly helped in this particular matter. https://media.comicbook.com/uploads1/2014/12/table-115769.gif |
BraniacX:Nope. Cavalry trumps Mockingbird anyday, anytime & anywhere. |
Phone Swap. Finally watching this! My iRokoTV sub's now useful again. |
Lana1:It really is a shame they never really had the chance. Peggy & Steve...their missed relationship always pains me. In that case let me add Bobby tooDaisy is getting rather efficient with the ass kicking. But, you've gotta give the BAMF human Marvel Ladies some props. Them Russians, Americans & British agencies (and their offshoots) know how to train the hell out of their agents. Oh and Natasha's interrogation skills gets me every time. She might be tied up, looking defenceless and even crying her eyes out, but she's got that shtako under control. |
mkmyers45:Huh, whoa they really did style/weirdness over substance, oh boy....Anywho, I'm surprised you didn't mention Zach's surname, Batmanglig, rather hard to forget. I always have a mini "I'm Batman" moment, every time I see it, i.e. every episode, since he's a co-creator and directed all the episodes. As for London Spy, I didn't get past episode 1, I was doing everything except actually watching the thing. Over 20 minutes had past and BBC iPlayer was watching me. Oh yeah, that happened in B99, we shall see. They'll probably make it work. |
Oh snap, Scalebound got cancelled. Dayum! Oh well Horizon Zero Dawn is still being released. |
Freciprocal:I just came across this comment which got me laughing.
|
Freciprocal:If it was the singing student he was jealous of, that's a gross overreaction. The shooter being FBI is hella silly, the other views are also silly, they could have simply taken OA & her friends out quite easily. Plus, the therapist only knew about her friends after the other shooting incident. From the story alone, it's implied that it's related to the unknown gunman story. As we all know scripts aren't supposed to supply a plot point without using it. Of course, we've seen enough films with enough plot holes and unused plot points. |
Does Osa Okhomina not understand how to use the apostrophe? ...the deceased children...the deceased grandchild... **sighs** I haven't even talked about the incorrect use of capitalisation and other silly mistakes... |
mkmyers45:I see I'm not the only one that remembers this, I tend to watch my shows with the subtitles enabled - it's amazing the things you can miss. I did have a similar reaction with cafeteria and the final scene, I've already mentioned my exact reaction earlier. |
Haute:I don't care about whatever it is, enough with the unnecessary mentions. Simple and short. Enough. |
Freciprocal:And yet again, you've clearly missed the point I've been trying to make. The 5 did the movements against the gunman (since it looks like I can't keep being vague about it), they had no clue about OA being there, until after the fact. So, it didn't really make any sense why they did it in the first place. Now, you could say they tried to save the students, but as we saw that didn't actually happen. Instead we get a "portal" for OA. At least, it distracted the gunman. The gunman angle came from nowhere, the only time a gunman was ever mentioned was on the radio during BBA's senior chin fat moment (like I mentioned earlier). If that's the same gunman, what the heck was his motive? If it's a student from the school, we never saw that student's motive? |
Haute, does your NL life revolve around mentioning random female NLers? Enough already, it's rather tiring with the frivolous mentions. |
For folks that don't give a eff, they sure like to talk about it... |
Lana1:Peggy Carter was a brawler, that chic was brutal. I still remember her fight with that guy in the pilot in her room, she will use any and everything to gain the upper hand. Natasha is a ninja, ol' gal is stealthy and efficient and she'll merc you with your own weapon. Finesse and Fatal. Oh and let's not forget Melinda May - BAMF. |
mkmyers45:POV storywise is clearly from OA, when she's telling the story, but it makes you wonder how she knows certain POVs (eg Hap & his colleague's story), which of course makes you wonder if she's making it up, which does help in making the viewer doubt themselves. There are times it felt like proper BS - the writers trying to tell us a story, but using style/weirdness over substance. Some of the boys could have been more developed (eg the stoner). But, those final 10 minutes of episode 8 can make you feel like you just wasted your time. Before anyone starts, I'm a fan of slow paced shows and even a bigger fan of weird sci-fi, in fact the only slow paced show of recent that I've hated was London Spy - I was bored off my tits and my body refused to pay attention. Anywho, like I've said a few times, episode 8 doesn't have a true payoff. I was actually quite annoyed when it was obvious I'd have to wait for season 2 for the payoff, now I understand why the ratings are less than 2.5 on Netflix. All in all, The OA is well acted, well produced, but it could have told a better story. Sidebar: I've been calling Steve - Delinquent Douche, in fact I've been referring to him as that exclusively. Sidebar 2: For anyone who's been on the fence with Travelers. I've enjoyed it so far, the only reason I haven't finished it - I've been reading ebooks and been distracted by my endless rewatch of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. B99 is my go to sleep material, which doesn't always lead to actual sleep. Seriously, every time I finish, I immediately start it again. Without fail. |
Freciprocal:It did not make any sense in the cafeteria incident, yes it looked cool and interesting in the scene and it was a proper WTF moment for the guy. I never had an issue with the movements, my issue was its use in the cafeteria and how it proved useless in the situation they were in. |
Freciprocal:Something more. We don't get a true payoff & the whole movements vs the plot point from nowhere* just didn't make sense. *the scene where something similar is spoken about on the radio, while BBA is having her senior moment with her chin fat doesn't count. |
About to watch La La Land. |
Freciprocal:Episode 8 doesn't exactly inspire greatness, after you've patiently gone through 7 episodes, rather anti-climactic. |
Travelers. Darn Americans and their inability to spell properly, removing letters, changing s to z, changing c to s...should be spelt as travellers. |
solonius:Yup, I see your point. It's because we don't really get a payoff. Plus, the whole movements thing during the anti-climatic moment was just odd. My exact response during that scene - "Are you f**king kidding me with this s**t?!" Well acted, well produced, but the story could have been way better. |
