FedPoly-Ado abi. When it comes to DE, UI is really pure. Nepotism is minimal but it's survival of the good profile. UI is competitive and they give preferential to Polyibadan students. A friend I know was denied admission last year with 3.81/4.00 and two friends with higher GPA made it into the same department. Talk about how competitive it is. Someone in my current school was also denied admission two years ago with 3.58/4.00... Though, the department they applied to is not civil engineering but another engineering course. I am not writing this to scare you or anyone but for you to prepare your mind ahead. Trust me, it's a risk worth taking.

But if you're bother of your chance, you can probably change to OAU because they take more DE applicants applying with national diploma. And another thing, a friend with 3.73 and fairly good O'level was admitted into engineering department.

Or LASU, a senior set entered with 3.47 (near distinction upper).

I would have asked you to change to my school but they take more JUPEB with 4-5 national diploma applicants. And you'll need a strong profile (GPA and O'level wise) to compete competitively with YCT guys.

Above all, any school you decide sticking with, always remember victory belongs too Jesus.

Would next year applicants access the information that would be posted on the group? If this thread had moved to whatsapp since 2016 it was created, many people wouldn't be here in the first place and valuable/previous experience/mistakes of last year applicants would not be available. Unlike Nairaland where you can read through previous year experience.

Bottom line: We've always been sticking to this thread but as time goes on (during school application) You can open different schools group on whatsapp to access basic and rapid information about submission of transcript and others.

I applied for Direct Entry into unilag to study political science, I graduated with Distinction from Yaba College of Technology. After applying for the Direct Entry we were told the list will be out next month. However I am having certain fears after someone told me that unilag doesn't collect Direct Entry in political science while someone else said they do now. I need advice on this please.

Hello Jessica, Unilag only take Engineering DE from OND (distinction) holder, others are diploma (foundation), degree and NCE.

Do apply for a change of institution to avoid waste of time, fund and grade.

Just fill in for OAU, UI or LASU. I'm sure you'll be admitted. Omo ma'am, you be book oo. distinction, I'm tripping.

Julidab, UI don't do state of origin something. Admission as DE is base on merit. Hope you have competitive grades? for you to compete competitively.

Have you checked O'level requirement?
Since its distinction, I feel OAU is more safe in the list of your schools.
they did not conduct entrance exam for DE applicants last year.

No, no. It's impossible to do DE from faculty of engineering to faculty of science.

The pre requirement course subjects taken in ND 1 and 2 for admission into 200level is different for both courses.

Just apply to a safe school or safe engineering courses.

Yes, just take jamb for this year. Do you mean you'll conclude your ND this 2018 or you're already on IT. if it's the later, I would advise you to take jamb since you can't apply for direct entry until your final grade is out.

No problem, keep the hope alive. some Education courses and Accounting were updated on CAPS yesterday and a day before.

Graduated? 0r still in school? Have you checked if they accept Statistic for Economics or vice versa.

Okay. I thought because it used to be an annex of polyibadan, they'll be using 5.00 ni. Well, just work harder. Yes, you'll need to do the IT. it's not necessary but during the period your result would have been available for DE process.

Infamous has done well in answering your question. Yes, the better your grades the better the opportunities.

I think Ibarapa polytechnic normally use 5.00 GPA. Am I right?
If it's on a scale of 5.00 try working your way to 4.00+
You're currently on SIWES? that means you're just going to ND 2. it's good you're preparing early as you won't be able to apply for direct entry until after your 1-year IT.

Is 2.93 Upper credit? I'm not too familiar with the 4.00 grading.
Two sitting? I don't think that will be a problem.
Safe schools? well, it all boils down to you. Make a list of schools and streamline it to your taste and admission rate. Since you schooled in North Central, you might love to check schools in North. Like ATBU and others as they have large students admission rate.
The process include buying jamb DE form, applying for transcript and buying your selected school DE form.
Other information, wait and trust in God.
