Preparing from now onward is not to early, preparing late can be dangerous. Make good decisions for urself always remembering that it's once in a year and a mistake cannot be afforded.

Over the years, since 2012 to be precise, which happened to be the year I got into the polytechnic, I had closely monitored the process. That gave me an overview of the process and how it happens yearly in most schools. It is however subject to change due to the undecisive nature of our government. I would encourage both graduates and undergraduates of the poly to monitor the process before picking a school.Information is also very important. If you fail to know when the transcript is to be submitted, you are out, fail to have the right subject combination forthe course at O/level, u're out. So many other issues are of great importance too, pay attention to the thread.

I have seen a 3.72 candidate that was not offeredadmission by funaab. Don't always think you have the GP and you have arrived, schools like funaab won't hesitate to throw your transcript in the bin if you don't take necessary actions.

On my experience, OAU, Ife gives ND candidates a fair change as their A/level counterparts, if you have upper credit and you want a federal school, OAU is simply the best. Mind you, even with HND,you would start from 200L.

A/level candidates would prefer UI, have good points and pray, and you are an undergraduate already. However, for ND candidates especiallythose going for engineering, pls have distinction. Upper can be dangerous.

FUNAAB is a case, I won't go there please.

Unilag admits her diploma majorly. However, if you finished with a distinction at ND or HND level from the school of engineering or environmental science from a reputable polytechnic possessing a credit pass in Further maths and have your o/level at one sitting, it's safe to call you an undergraduate already. I am a living testimony. However, unilaggives special preference to YABATECH students. I must admit, those guys are smoking hot. I have met them. A/level candidates stand a good chance too.

I wish all candidates best of luck. We hope to see your testimony threads at the end of the process.

My bosses would be of great help too.Ibadanfinest and lanodinho.

Well said bro.

Glad to have you, Ibadanfinest and lanodinho on board. You might not know me but I'm your fan, I always take time to go through your NL posts.

Bro, thanks. Computer engineering is limited, unlike Electrical.

I'm sorry bro, I'm afraid no university expect the university you did your diploma will accept it according to new NUC policy.

So, you can only apply to university of Maiduguri with your diploma.

Morning, finished with 3.32CGP from fedpoly, Ilaro computer engin. thinking on processing DE into university of Ibadan
what is ur say on this

Evening bro, my say is 'you're good to go'. Nobody knows anybody's chance, since UI minimum requirement is upper credit. How strong is your O'level?

UI does not conduct post DE exam,so I guess emphasis MAY be on CGPA and O'level.

You might want to opt for OAU, they conduct post DE exam and if you can ace the exam with your grade you're good to go.

any accounting student who knows about AAT should kindly pls advice on schools dat accept AAT for D.E

Ayinde, yes there are schools that accept AAT for direct entry all you just need is to do research. Well, I've helped you with that, Mr. Mayorde ( a nairalander) said in one thread in 2008 that OAU, UNN, OOU, UNIBEN etc accept AAT for DE.

The same Mr. Mayorde later used AAT for DE into UNIBEN and graduated as department and faculty best. Give it a shot bro cool

Seems everyone want to go to uni cuz of B.sc, so what happens to progressing for HND ? Everyone is running away from poly nd I just got admission into Abiapoly for elect elect cry

Lol bro, not really because of BSc but when you eventually get into the system you'll understand why. If you've resumed try all you can to graduate with better grades and don't make female your priority.

Note: there are thousands of people going for HND but someone can not just do something because thousands of people are doing. The dichotomy between BSc and HND in Nigeria is high, so one has to step up his or her game.

There are guys that did HND that are also doing fine o. Abeg no panic, you're in the right path. :-)

Don't just select schools because of the name, try checking the number of applicants and weigh your chance of being admitted before selecting.

If you're swaping course make sure it correlates with the course you previously studied.

I gained my OND on electrical/electronic engineering from Ronik polytechnic Lagos and my GP is 2.13, then I tried UNN this year but admission was not offered. So pls am confuse on what to do next year I.e the school I might apply.. PLEASE I NEED HELP....

You tried UNN electrical engineering? UNN is competitive so is your course. I guess 2.13 is lower credit. Am I right? If so, I've helped with a list of schools that accept lower credit.

University of Calabar, UNICAL.

Anambra State University, ANSU,
Uli (and Igbariam).

Niger Delta University, NDU,
Wilberforce.

Igbinedion University, Okada.

University of Jos, UNIJOS.

Nasarawa State University
(NSUK), Keffi.

Enugu State University of Science
and Technology, ESUT.

University of Ilorin, UNILORIN (for
History and Performing Arts).

Usman Dan Fodio University
Sokoto (UDUSOK).

University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN)

Osun State University (UNIOSUN)

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu
University formerly Anambra State
University (ANSU)

University of Maiduguri
(UNIMAID)

Nasarawa State University
(NSUK), Keffi

Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University,
UMYU

Federal University of Technology,
Minna, FUTMINNA (But VERY COMPETITIVE, a friend of mine chose them this year with Lower credit and had 281 in their post DE exams, but no admission yet)

NOTE: Some of the above listed schools also accept upper credit for some courses. you can also check jamb 2016 brochure for more school.

Bro, to be on the better side I'll advise you to buy JAMB form and choose a different school from the ones you'll choose for DE.

Emmanuel Adeyemi.
It is often said that 'if one wants to hide something from african, one should hide it inside a book' and statistic has shown it that less than sixty percentage of African read good books. I recognise, of course, that the above statement maybe true, but my problem is not whether african read books or the quality of books we read. My problem is, how our best brains are being exploited, contributing to our underdeveloped state and we never seem to notice. I recognise that we have leadership problem and Rome is not build in a day but if we take pragmatics approach toward solving our problems and ensuring that all hands are on deck, I am sure we will attain the peak of development. Before I proceed, I'll like to share an example of how one of our best brains sent abroad by Sokoto state government was exploited.

"Jelani Aliyu, an indigene of Sokoto State in northern Nigeria who is a leading automobile designer in America today. Aliyu’s story illustrates the problem with educational systems that focus more on theory than practical, more on quantity of schooling than quality of schooling; more on non cognitive skills than cognitive skills. Upon completing secondary school, Aliyu enrolled at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to study for a degree in architecture. However, he was frustrated by the pedantic, Ivory Towerian intellection of the programme at ABU which focused more on theory. Aliyu dropped out and enrolled at the Birni Kebbi Polytechnic which offered more practical courses. He earned an Ordinary National Diploma in architecture in 1988 and was the overall best graduating student in the school. With a scholarship from the Sokoto State Government, he proceeded to Detroit in the Midwestern U.S. state of Michigan and enrolled for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Transportation Design at the prestigious College for Creative Studies, one of the world’s 60 best design schools, according to the Bloomberg Business Week magazine. He graduated in 1994 and got hired by General Motors, the world’s second biggest car manufacturer and America’s biggest. In 2007, Aliyu designed the Chevrolet Volt described by General Motors as the future car and “American Revolution". Today, Aliyu is GM’s lead exterior designer at its Michigan headquarters. He has never returned to work in Nigeria since he was educated in the United States with Nigerian public funds"--- 'curled from globaleducationconference'

I've always thought that education or mass literacy is the only tool Africa needs to alter tangible change, economical and technological because we are normally look down upon in the international community due to the abject poverty and lack of effective leadership, without thinking about the exploitation of our people. However, it now appears to me that we have moved from the level of mass illiteracy to the point that we now need to be making a change by taking advantage of our best brains (educated mass) for an holistic reforms. Like 'globaleducationconference' has highlighted that growth of any society is largely dependent on the capacity of its human resources to confront challenges and find solutions that are useful and familiar to the society. For Africa to achieve any meaningful development over the next few years, individual countries must begin to develop well thought out policies that will ensure not just mass literacy but also a full utilisation of the educated mass for economic and social growth.

Nice tips.

I could remember when I wanted to get my laptop, unlike android I knew nothing about Windows OS but I kept screaming "4Gb RAM, 500GB storage and Windows 8" and I got it, the only bad about the Laptop is just the Camera.

One tip though, go with extra cash.

You bought it at what price and where?

U just nailed it, u have the requirement. I hope u got it at a sitting? yeah, there is a very great preference for yabatech ND holder, infact, across many dept in the last admission, only one candidate was from another school while other were yabatech. I am frm fpi while the other 3 guys were frm yabatech. In mech, my friend frm fpi was the only guy frm another institution, the rest were yabatech graduates. However, since there is a possibility I got in, then you can get in too.

I've seen students from mapoly. I was offered elect elect engineering. Gp matters too, ur gp must be high to have an edge. what did u finish with?

unilag does not conduct exams. If u have remarkable grades at O'level, choose U.I but if u have Cs, UNILAG is ur best option. O'level is not a criterion here.

Oh thanks, ma or sir? Hmm this their preference sha. The cgpa is high. Yes O'level, a sitting with all grades above "C" in all subjects, will you suggest Unilag or UI? I'm also living in Lagos but state of origin is Oyo. Mapoly? That is great oo. Have you resumed? And how is lecture going? Hope not too stressful?. FPI and Yabatech are federal schools. Lastly, how many of you were admitted? Four? According to the bolded part.

LARRYDKING:

That was what I did and I'm in now. For others reading this, if u finished with distinction from the school of engineering and environmental alike unilag is the best option if and only if u have further math( for engineering ). I don't think there is any special O/level requirement for environmental.

Please, how feasible is Unilag with a distinction in Mechanical engineering from The polytechnic Ibadan (O'level had Further Mathematics and Technical drawing) . Do they have any preferential for schools. Like schools within her reach "Laspotech, Yabatech" ? Do they conduct post DE exam? If yes, how is it? Between UI and Unilag which will you suggest? What course were you admitted to?
