fergie001:

When Jonathan lost the 2015 election, APC feeling he had some goodwill thought he will run again in 2019 and introduced a new bill in 2018.

Former President Buhari signed the 4th Constitution Alteration Bill into law. (This is the 4th Alteration bill because Jonathan was Nigeria's first President post-1999 to sign a Constitutional Alteration bill, he signed three different Alteration Bills)

The bills signed by Buhari are:

*Not-too-young to run, this was assented to days before others on May 31, 2018.

For the others, he signed on June 08, 2018....

1. The 14 days allowable time for pre-election matters.

2. The extension for re-run to take place within 21 days rather than the initial 7 days to give INEC some latitude to put logistics in order.

3. Financial Autonomy for States Houses of Assembly and Judiciary.

4. Completion of tenure of a sick, resigned, impeached or dead President/Governor is seen as one term. What it means is that once a Deputy-Governor or VP is sworn-in to complete the tenure of another, it is already by law seen as a term.

For the case of Jonathan in 2022/2023, it's different. Law is not retroactive.

What I mean is that, if there is NO law today punishing thieves, and a thief is arrested today, even if a new law punishing thieves is enacted a day after, he cannot be tried under that law.

Jonathan contested in 2015 and the law was enacted in 2018, it doesn't affect Jonathan, he still till tomorrow can contest.

My girlfriend and I have been together a little over a year, and it's always been rocky. We've broken up many times (almost always me with her) but then we end up back together in a few days.
She has never hit me until today, and then suddenly slapped me after she held my shirt and pinned me against the wall. FYI - I did nothing to her in retaliation . However, I feel pained and disappointed by her action.

Reason - she saw me with a lady who was supposed to apply for the post of a chef at our residence and thought I was having an affair .

I explained myself and next best thing she said to me was that she is done with the relationship.

What do I do?

Looking at some replies here, one can see one of the major reasons why the clueless old men keep taking us for a ride. Because the so called leaders of tomorrow are no better, maybe even worse despite all the education and technology at our disposal.
Someone makes a complaint about poor services and he's being attacked, some saying he's sponsored, or it's like that everywhere, others even introducing tribal sentiments.
I guess some of them can't imagine flying some day so they don't really think this can happen to them or how serious it really is.

It's pathetic.

Air Peace has no regards for its customers.
People have been complaining about their services since forever. But some clowns would turn it to a tribal issue.

Education / Re: A Female Nigerian Student's Luxurious Room Leaves People Astonished by CaptainGo: 9:40pm On Apr 17
Gistmedia10:
A pretty Nigerian student's room is making waves online for its sheer luxury. The room is like a dream come true, filled with expensive things that leave visitors in awe.

As soon as you step in, you're greeted by a beautiful bed with fancy pillows and covers. A huge smart TV for entertainment, and the room stays just right with a fancy air conditioning system.

But the real showstopper is the home theater setup! It's like having a cinema at home, complete with amazing speakers. And then there are the shoes, bags, clothes, and wigs—all top-notch designer stuff.

Every corner is designed with a feminine touch that shows off her style. Even the kitchen is not just for show—it's stocked with the best stuff for cooking up a storm.

Adding to the allure, her beautiful portrait hangs prominently on the wall, adding a personal touch to the lavish space. Each element exudes a refined, feminine style, including the fully stocked kitchen for culinary pursuits.

People are amazed, but they're also wondering: How does a student afford all this? It's the talk of social media, with everyone guessing about her secret. A notable absence, however, is the reading table and chair, which seem to be missing from the lavish space. shocked

Business / Re: CBN Reduces Banks' Loan To Deposit Ratio From 65% To 50% by CaptainGo: 9:19pm On Apr 17
AndroBlaze:

Take your time and read the information people have provided.

He is not trying to encourage people to take loans. People taking loans increases the money supply and CBN under him have stated countless times that their is too much money in circulation (not necessarily because there were too many loans given out, but because he claims Emefiele was just printing money anyhow and spending it). Basic monetary economics says when money supply increases irrationally, prices go up as the money loses its worth, and that is what he is trying to stop. He is trying to control the supply of money (take money out of the system) and thats what practically all the policies he has unleashed (raising lending rates, increasing Treasury and Bond yields and now curbing commercial banks ability to lend by reducing LDR) are aimed at.

Its textbook economics, but could still fail if it turns out to be an overkill

Spot on.

These are temporary measures I believe.
He's trying to boost the Naira's value from the monetary end.
Business / Re: CBN Reduces Banks' Loan To Deposit Ratio From 65% To 50% by CaptainGo: 9:12pm On Apr 17
Believeintruth:

Na wah for una. You keep commenting on things you have no knowledge of. He reduced the loan to deposit ratio of banks to 50% from 65%, at the same vein he had already increased the MPR rate by 600 basis points earlier which meant the cost of lending has increased. So the question now is who can afford the high lending rate, where Banks are giving loans at 30% and above as interest on loans, so what is the use of reducing the loan to deposit ratio when the loans are far too expensive?

What are you on about?

By this new policy, the CBN is actually reducing loans by bank not encouraging it.

You’re trying to reduce the money in circulation to curb inflation and your increasing the flow of money?

Cardoso na real trial and error

I hope they don’t reverse it soon again

You don't even know what you're saying. undecided

The poster below understands it better.

The policy is actually meant to reduce the amount of money in circulation.

blaquey01:

What it means is that banks should not give out loans once they are more than the deposits they get from customers.

Before now the maximum amount of loans given out at any point in time should be 65% of customers money (Customer's deposit) that the bank has with them - that is money you and i have in the bank.

Now that it has been reduced to 50%, simply to restrict the amount of money in circulation.

Banks can maintain the new ratio by giving out less loans while sourcing for more customer deposits or get a large number of deposits to give out more loans.

I saw this grains for the first time with my Mother-in-Law, she's been diabetic for the past 18 years and apart from the very first few years of her diagnosis, she's never had a single crisis. She swears by Acha.

It can be boiled and eaten with stew like Rice, blended to powder and used as swallow, used as flour for Bread, Akara, Moimoi, Pan cakes... Name it
She's living the life honestly.

The CBN is overstaffed and we saw a lot of rot under Emefiele with CBN veering into matters they have no business with like granting loans to farmers, and Emefiele was allocating forex indiscriminately.

If the departments are not relevant to the core mandate of the CBN, they should be closed or the staff redeployed or relieved.

The CBN cannot be used to compensate the children of politicians with jobs. We need the very best to work there.

Cardoso, we from the outside fully support your reforms. If jobs would be lost, so be it. But could you please see if some of those being kicked out are absorbed by the Ministry of Agriculture or other agencies in the Ministry of Finance?

planting hot pepper in sacks does not work,we tried it with 500 sacks last year and discovered that,it will grow well initially but the moment it grow to big and you harvest like 4-5 times it will stop growing and stop production because the roots do not have anywhere to go again, but you can successful grow cucumbers, melon, okra or sweet pepper in sacks, the root system of hot pepper is too massive for the sack

This is a good encouragement but I won't advise anybody who wishes to venture into pepper farming to plant in sack. I am a pepper farmer and I have tried planting pepper in sack, the germination and growth was good but the problem started when the pepper started fruiting. I noticed the root of the plant have started perforating the sack, pepper is a perennial crops that takes atlest 3 - 4months before you start harvesting and extra 6-8 months before the plant gets weak of production, during that period of time the sack won't be enough to accommodate the whole root resulting to poor fruiting , the flowers will be falling off, the leaves will be shrinking some time the plant dies off

Good morning nairalnders, let’s do a challenge, plant pepper seed in sacks for your backyard and update us here with the growth for encouragement, I promise to start encouraging anyone that plants daily in my
Own way.

If 2m nairalnders and 5m Nigerian youth can do this challenge for just a week, in 3months we would be having abundance of pepper to eat and consume.

Stop complaining, do something, just plant in 50-100 to hundreds sacks at your backyard, wet every morning and move on with your normal daily life. Is that too much to hel ourselves?

Or to crown it all, hit the jackpot, which is cassava, just get one plot of land and plant casssva, that one is on 6month, piaaaaaam you fry am sharp, garri is 1100.

Am already working on 5plot of one wasted land for cassava like this. You know what? It will only cost me just 350k to finish the project till o harvest. No risk, no Tax, no looking for buyer. Just sell or fry am to garri.

Below is my one month planting progress for the pepper.

This only means I will have more than enough pepper and garri and kudi……ego!! En!!! to use this year.

Interesting. I like this challenge

Politics / Re: Jigawa Suspends Aminu Kanta Over 'Mismanagement Of Funds' For Ramadan Feeding by CaptainGo: 6:31pm On Apr 06
emkz:
One of the greatest anomalies in northern Nigeria is the misappropriation of resources on matters that have no developmental value to those states, for example:

(1) Ramadan feeding
(2) Hajj subsidy and outright payment
(3) Mass weddings.

Internally generated revenue in some of the states doing these things are extremely poor. They include: Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Kano. The quality of life of the population is also disturbing, yet they invest in things that cannot improve the lives of their citizens. For example, do all these states have good drinking water? Are their citizens gainfully employed? Are their children in school? Is infrastructure in top shape?

Okay, the funds allocated for Ramadan feeding: are the included in the budget? If not, how will the funds be accounted for? After Ramadan, will the people not eat again? Is it the responsibility of state governments to feed citizens during Ramadan? Do the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia feed their citizens with public funds during Ramadan?

Then to the issue of Hajj sponsorship: when the sponsored return from Hajj, would they return to an eldorado state of affairs or they return to an endemic poor state of affairs?

Northern governors must separate personal spiritual pursuits from public funds. Public funds belong to the public and should be geared towards public good and not fund people's private spiritual pursuits.

As for the Jigawa State Commissioner for Commerce suspended for alleged mismanagement of iftar feeding programme funds, I think the state government and entire cabinet ought to suspend themselves too for misappropriation of public funds to a feeding programme unknown to the state's appropriation bill.
