He was watching the game so as to study Dtigers in the eventuality of Egypt clashing against Nigeria. One thing about this Dtigers squad is that it is not built around one player. Look at how Josh Okogie turned up against Tunisia while Agada was quiet. Same as Nwamu. Mke Nuga has not really played to his best in this tourney and has had limited time on court. Coach Abdulrahman seems to know what he is doing.

....I get, or maybe he was watching because he believes we are a top team...it seems South Sudan are out...they lost 2 games...Not sure what the format of this Afrobasket is..

I don't think the Egyptians will stop the march of Dtigers this year. Let them do all their scouting and spying. We will settle the business on the court. No wahala. Yes, Egyptian basketball is on the rise. However, Nigeria has a basketball history and Afrobasket success rate than the Egyptians. Cheers.

How far with Bull's Ayo Dosunmu and Cav's Okoro playing switching?

....Playing for the national team actually gives the ladies more visibility...i.e playing at olympics, got Ezinne,Musa and Amy a short at the Wnba, even though it was just shot contracts...I do not know much about Ayo Dosumus switch...

Actually there's nothing to kick against as that's the best deal for Africa. Splitting them across 4 different groups is almost guaranteeing none of them save Nigeria qualifies. On numbers of slot, I think this is fair seeing how Africa has never really done well at the world stage. 4 as a matter of fact is being magnanimous. Slots are amongst other things determined by ranking and previous performance and we have to claim on both grounds.

.....You have a point with African teams not doing to well at the world stage, but, this is the qualifiers, you get me...I just want more African team to just taste the world stage, even if it is the qualifying tournament, that also helps them in getting some of their talents in diaspora or the ones born in diaspora to commit to these nations, anyway, it is well...

Saw this week's ago on Wikipedia. And yes 16 teams make it, I however doubt every African team can potentially make it. When it was 12 teams, the grouping were done in such a way that at least one African team will make it. They do this by having both African team in same group to ensure this outcome.With 5 teams already confirmed, there are only 11 spots left. The only way you are guaranteed at least 2 African teams is if they group the other 3 teams from Africa in one of the 4 groups and Nigeria in another.

....that is a good idea, however, i feel that the other federations will kick against it, also,it is not fair that we have only 4 slots to the world cup qualifying tournament, while Europe has 8,Asia and America have 6 respectively. They should give us 6 and work the bracket out(Uganda, Ivory coast or Mozambique could have easily used that spot)...it is well...

As posted by d’tigress official handle, there are just 16 slots available if I am not mistaken, I hope all the African teams make it…

Our Dtigers players are not as committed like their female counterparts. Guys like Gabe Vincent , Jahlil Okafor and Miye Oni should be in Abuja camp since last Friday. This is our chance to win our 2nd Afrobasket title in Angola. We need all the firepower we can amass for this tournament kicking off next week. We still have a group of talented guys in Abuja right now. And with Josh Okogie suiting up, we have a better squad that can win the cup. I will analyze our squad later today or tomorrow. ....blame them not being commited on the NBBF, on the mens side, it is different from the women....why will i risk playing for a federation that does not care about me, when i am on a 30+ million dollar contract, why would i want to risk being injured for them, when they will probably still owe me bonuses from 3 years ago, a federation that can not fix the basis, no matter how committed you are, after a while you will tell yourself the truth and use more logic...The women do not have all this type of contracts, hence, every avenue is a blessing for them...that is the reason why a lot of WNBA players go abroad to play during off season to make more money...If NBBF wants commitment, they should show commitment first to the players, that are the live line of the federation, because without players, there is no federation.

Oh my comment wasn't made in consideration of Ejiofor. I personally do not think Ejiofor should be in the team at all Ebo or not. I was speaking specifically about Ebo and the prospects and potentially I think she has.

....I get you, however, she is still better than Ejiofor..no cap....Ejiofor is a center, same position has Ebo, however, has no post move whatsoever, basically cant play with her back to the rim, that is okay, if she could play facing the basket,basically try and play like a Victoria Macaulay, still no handles,and awful shooting form...the only move she does is a step back, pull up..which for me is guardlike or for a forward.......Ebo is better shooter than her even from the 3 point line, has good post moves(backdoor post moves, front post move,1 dribble drop step,2 dribble drop step..e.t.c) and you will definitely need that size when you go to the world stage as centers are bigger compared to those in Africa, when guarding other bigs,as you will need different body type to guard different bigs...Also if it is by profile, Ebo has better profile, she has played in Division 1 ever since, While Ejiofor played in DIvision 2 last season and 2 seasons ago....I do not think it is a fluke than Spanish team wants her..Spanish league is probable top 2/3 in the world. Also, as regards mobility, Ebo is mobile, .(..do not take my word for it, go check her videos on line,) I still believe,why that happen is because of the very limited time for training camp barely 4 or 5 days....came in sunday(most of the players), 1st training session was monday,which was almost a meet and greet, were out of Nigeria by either thursday or friday...

I get your point, Victoria was very important in recent victory at Afrobasket ( a jump-shot efficiency rate really shocked me
) and what Musa does with the Steals cannot be overstated either so Ebo is a long shot even though ACB is the best league in Europe bar Russian league... Her skills will be honed there, am hopeful in the long run

...Yeah..Vicky is good, she was the MVP of 2022 WCQT(world cup qualifying tournament) where we beat France..

...use to watch her games while she was in Turkey on youtube....I think she is one for the future....I thought she was going to make it for this Afrobasket, however, with the return of Victoria Macaulay, that made it hard...Also having Pallas, Musa...it was going to be hard...Although if I am not sure if the Ejiofor babe is better than her, to be honest..I think Ebo is better ,however, that is what a short camp does, it makes the coach just go with what they know...Unfortunately, the world cup to might be the same, as the likes of Kiki, Micheala might just suite up for Nigeria, hence limiting the opportunites..If she goes out there in Spain and dominate, then she would definately have a huge leverage...

I don't disagree. Like I said I'm happy for the girls. The conversation is more about the lack of direction of the sporting federations in the country and how the incessant challenges with funding can be solved with the right leadership.

Also, it's kinda bittersweet because half of those who really struggled through the years and deserve this money aren't a part of the team. Think of Ify, Oderah, Adaora and Atonye.

...The reason for the lack of direction is due to the sheer greed of officials, looking out for themselves as against, looking out for the next generation coming behind...when, we get sincere people, things would align, until then....the lord is our strength.. Sad some of the girls are not here(old squad)...it is well....

Like I opined when the Super Falcons got rewarded, I am happy for the girls but this isn't a net positive for sports development in this country. It's a proof we have no visionary and aren't strategic and futuristic in our approach and I'll expatiate.

It's no news that we've had to deal with player welfare issues the last 10 years almost every competition. Our opting out of the world cup and the drama that happened after the 2021 Olympics were money related. Do you realize the most each player gets for any competition we are involved in whether the Olympics, Afrobasket, World cup etc is $10k based on historical data. It means the NBBF needs maximum $120k as allowances and bonuses for these girls (most competitions are significantly less). It means that based on the current renumeration structure, we'll never have issues with players with that amount.

The president just gave them about $1.5M. At 10% fixed in a low risk investment, returns from that trust will fund whatever allowance the girls might need in perpetuity. That's how to think future. There's a huge likelihood that after this honeymoon phase, we'll return to players still being owed money.

...The N.B.B.F should go and look for sponsors and HNI to fund their trust, the ladies better take their money and not look back, they should see it has decades of sweat, neglect and even punishment for speaking up, is being rewarded by the man up high, Some of our key players are in their mid 30s, they should see it as early retirement money....If the N.B.BF wants a fund, they should start a fresh...Also best believe, all that money will still be squandered, if given to the N.B.B.F to start a fund, so i will rather the ladies take their money and run...so you know, i am almost certain that the ladies will be levied for a certain percentage of the money, considering how Nigeria works.
