I disagree though. National team basketball isn't funded enough to inventivize hiring a full time coach, neither is the schedule exhaustive enough to demand it. You can easily Google and find out how much you earn if you win say a AFCON, but there's no such information for the Afrobasket. Only the FIBA men's world cup has publicly available information of some sort of monetary incentive, not even the women's have one.

Also, having a coach who has another full time job is commonplace in FIBA basketball. The head coach of Germany is the current associate coach of WNBA team Toronto Tempo. Team USA head coach is the current coach of Duke WBB while are assistants are head coaches of various WNBA teams. The Australian basketball coach is the head coach of a WNBL team and assistant coach of the Atlanta Dream. The Spanish coach untill recently was coach of Fernebahce. I could go one and on.

Point is, this is pretty common place across all the national teams and won't be the reason for poor performance.

On recruitment, I have opinions but won't speak to them because I don't know the specifics of some of the challenges being faced. But on the surface I'll say they sincerely aren't doing badly. There's a lot we don't know that may have informed some players not participating now. For instance it's obvious Gabby white and Uche Izoje won't be on the list and this has nothing to do with their willingness to wear the green and white. So until we know more I'll just give the benefit of doubt.

...We have never had part time head coach till now, the past coaches we had were full time or not from Scott Nnaji,Sam Vincent, Otis Hughley,i know others teams do it,,as far as i am concerned, it is not the best...as regards the college players that has potential of making the W not playing, u do not need specifics, the major competition that is respected in the U.S is the Olympics,hence, if that player plays a key role in her school or Wnba team especially, it will be hard for such player to show up afrobasket...so lets not kid ourselves.it is best to have it mind that such player will most likely asked to excluded, except, they are not getting enough playing time in their WNBA team.

This definitely won't be the list considering Amy Okonkwo and Elizabeth Balogun aren't in the picture. So at most only 10 of those in the picture will make roster if there aren't any other surprises.

So expect at most 10 players from those in the picture.

.....i am beginning to feel a certain way about the head coach job being treated like a side hustle....this has to stop, as far as i am concerned, this is one of the reason the team list is not ready. Also we really need to recruite further and more aggressive, what this window has taught me, is that those players in college that have the potential of making the WNBA, will most likely not represent us if it clashes with the interest of their school/college, especially now due to N.I.L, it will only get worse, if they make it into the W. Such players may never play 1 single afrobasket game and also not play world cup games, they might be available for Olympics though, so by my assessment, that is not good enough,. As regards the team, Ezike is not there at all, her games needs alot of improving, I like Nicole, however, she did not show anything during the exhibition games.

Our team list has still not been announced, how awkward.....we play in like 5 days...

Kiki Iriafen finally gets a Team USA debut call as she replaces A'ja Wilson who opted out of the world cup. Her teammate Sonia Citron also called up to replace injured Kelsey Plum.

...good for her....she played one time for them, cant remeber what it was, happy for her, it would have been sad, if she did not get another callup and did not get to play for us...

How do you come to a qualifiers without a true ball carrier...that one of the reason the team is struggling..

Cameroun is no longer a pushover when it comes to basketball. I am not happy at all with things as they stand in this game against Cameroun.

....you know what is funny, if we had atleast taking first window seriously, we wont be too uptight....we dropped 2 games in the first window....doing wuru wuru,, the Nigerian way, the same thing that Affected supper eagles is affecting dtigers.

Transition is a problem, interior presence is a problem....and shot is not dropping..

...I remeber talking about the point guard issue when the list was announced.

Look at Moneke that is suppose to a big man/power forward....he has tried 3 pointers about 5 times, non has entered.

..the team is not balanced in a way..we do not have a natural point guard, and we do not have a big that likes to play in the paint..

They are going to lose if they continue to play like this.

Cameroon's strategy is to load the paint and that's forcing the boys to just spam 3s which isn't working.

They have to find a way to get into the paint and either get baskets or force Cameroon to foul.

....the modern day spamming of 3 pointers can be hard to watch....A team realizes its 3 pointers are not dropping but decides to keep shooting, not smart at all....

Its time to start trimming the squad down,,,,,,

Hmn. Michael Efevberha is 41 years old 🙄 and has not played professional basketball since 2025. He played Afrobasket for Nigeria in 2009. I hope he won't be a minus to this squad. Abogidi, Udoka Azuibuike , Ebuka Izundu and Manny Obaseki are not experienced at all when it comes to international FIBA basketball. They are new faces to the Dtigers squad. They are active basketball players though and I pray Coach Fizdale knows how to manage and get the best out of them. None of them is an outstanding player 🙂. Jordan Ogundiran has played several times for Dtigers including an Afrobasket appearance and several FIBA and Olympic qualifiers for Nigeria. He has the experience and mentality 💪. I am happy Josh Okogie is back . Stan Okoye is ever dependable with a wealth of experience that can help Nigeria's cause in Tunisia. The Squad is not bad. However, where are Ike and Uche Iroegbu 😲? They were outstanding in Angola during the last 3 games we played to move to this stage.

we have a lot of combo guards on the team,at least get a natural point guard,Jordan turns the ball over alot...Josh,Caleb and Nwamu would have to carry that load...
