I know I have misses but this is what I am talking about. So that makes it 3 wins out of 3. Job done?
....Job just started, we just moved into phase 2(round 2) and you carry over your results from phase1...the lowest team from each group are eliminated, the top 3 teams from each group moves to the next phase, that is where we are now...

We won at last 😎💪🇳🇬. Metu made the difference at the end ( 0.02 minutes). I knew Guinea won't have it easy with this squad under Fizdale. Caleb Agada was on fire today. This is why I said if you don't come and play the qualifiers, you should not be given a shirt on the final roster to the Olympics. You can only be considered for a shirt at the World Cup or Olympics 2028 if you are really exceptional at your club and your stats are great. Congrats, Dtigers. Congrats Nigeria. Well done, Coach Fizdale.
... tough game......however, we prevailed.

Fizdale revealed that he had been receiving text messages from NBA players from the day he was unveiled as Dtigers and Nigeria's Coach. My question is - What are the stats of those NBA players messaging him 🙏? We don't want players who want to use the World Cup and Olympic Games to fall back into reckoning 😲. If you want to make the squads to the FIBA World Cup and the Olympics in 2028, you must play for Nigeria in the qualifiers. Simple as ABC. Except you are exceptional and playing regularly for your NBA Club. Fizdale said half of the guys flying Nigeria's colours in the current qualifiers in Angola are good enough to make his World Cup roster 😎.
....O woow, they want to go to world cup, but do not want to play qualifiers...lol...We can make Excuse fir players like Gabe Vincent e.t.c, the players in the N.B.A that has played for the national team before....the remaining should fall in line..

Redman44:
Coach David Fizdale should be very pragmatic with his squad selections towards the FIBA men's world Cup. Loyalty and stats should be the benchmark when assembling his squad. NO need to depend on NBA players if they are not good enough or are on the bench of their clubs. Cheers.
.........that would be dumb if the n.b.b.f allows that to happen again, although, we would need to strengthen the team to the world cup, however, there must also be a balance, so that we do not have a repeat.

I believe this Dtigers squad will see off Guinea. Nigeria will defeat Guinea and Rwanda in the remaining games. The Iroegbu brothers and Metu are not in the mood to lose 😎.
...Guinea has been good so far....they have a balanced team, a really good guard and inside presence, yes we can do it, but first, we have to reduce the turn overs, we did turn over the ball a lot yesterday, do not know what the stats for that is, but the eye test says it is a lot...also we need to prevent a lot of second chance opportunities, then we need to reduce our fouls, those Tunisians got to the line a lot...

I feel Izoje will make the squad to Berlin too. We have not seen the best from her. Let's watch her against the Indiana Aces. I have observed that some players are given more time than the others on the court . Izoje, White and Nwaedozi are spending more time on court than the others. As for Blessing Ejiofor, she is making a point and pushing not to be left out of the team to Berlin. She has more experience than the NCAA players in the squad. We have never really seen Ejiofor play up to 30 minutes on court to really assess her 🙂. Personally, I don't think she is that good or can change the outcome of games. One of the new ladies might push her out of the team. Let's see Ejiofor against the Indiana Aces 🇳🇬💪.
....Indiana fever actually....

Izoje is under construction. She will keep developing in the NCAA. I watched the game between Nigeria and LA Sparks this afternoon. Our ladies were out of sorts against the LA Sparks 😲😲. We had many turnovers, could not score lots of free throws and it was clear that we don't have a three points shooter in our squad. Very atrocious shooting by Dtigresses. I was horrified. Our ladies played better against Minnesota Lynx 💪💪🇳🇬. Yeah, I can see now. Gabby White is very good. I place her above Izoje in this series of friendly games/USA tour. Then Favour Nwaedozi was great against the Sparks 🙏. I would love to watch her against Indiana Aces . We just have to work on 3 points shooting. That was what the Sparks used to destroy us- three pointers.
...Our outside shooting needs improving..

For me, the following players are guaranteed a WC spot: Amukamara, Amy Okonkwo, Pallas, Ezinne Kalu, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Victoria Macaulay, Gabby White, Nicole Enabosi
....Maybe, just maybe..Micheala too, as we do not know her status...

I hope Okananwa has not gotten a call from USA basketball to step out of DTigress camp 😄😄😄. I don't trust the Americans when it comes to undermining African teams especially. Hmn.
....they better be careful, just like they stole our baby girl(Kiki), lol, on a lighter note...i do not see it happening..except if she get called up for 3*3....which i saw the list yesterday, Mikayla(.L.S.U), FUlwiley(L.S.U),Edwards(South carolina) and one other player that i am not familiar with will be representing the U.S.A.

I am yet to really assess Shay Ijiwoye and Okananwa, Donanu and the other new faces in the team. I will watch the DTigress matchup with the LA Sparks today 🙏. I believe Ijiwoye played in that game. Blessing Ejiofor is trying to assert and fight for her place in the team. Good for her 🙂🇳🇬. Also, that lady who was born in the UK did not get enough minutes against Minnesota Lynx. Waiting for the the game in Indiana. Personally, I think Gabby White, Izoje and Donanu are top on the list for consideration to go to the world cup in Berlin. Especially Gabby 💪.
.....Oluchi is the real deal, although she seems not be in camp anymore as she has not played any of the games and i am wondering why...i have been following her since her freshman days in duke, she is at Maryland now...That babe plays hard just like the likes of Ezinne and she sure rebounds very well for a guard....

I am based in Nigeria but I was able to watch the game between DTigress and Minnesota Lynx early this morning via YOUTUBE.COM ( all the other Nigeria vs WNBA teams can also be found on YOUTUBE ). Well, Izoje still has to work on her game though she is good. She loses possession of the ball easily and she should work on her defensive abilities. Gabby White is amazing . She plays with a lot of confidence and she distributes the ball well. We have Kalu's successor in White. Yeah, she is defo stepping into Ezinne Kalu's shoes 🙂. The old guard are good. Amukamara is still good , same with Pallas whom I believe is a future captain of DTigress. Pallas is really showing leadership ability on court these days. Kalu is the bomb and she is a great player , but retirement fior her is coming soon 🙏.
....yeah...Izoje has to work on her offense and defense....on offense, she needs to mix it up, she has a jumper already, she just need to add a pump fake to create a straight line drive to the rim...hence, she becomes even more deadly...on defense, she gets blown by quite often...this happens because she stands to upright while playing defense, hence, it becomes harder to shuffle her feet to cover the space....which leads to her fouling....i believe, she still has time to work on her bag....Gabby is the real deal...she also has to work on her free throws and outside shot....i look forward to the future back court of Oluchi and Gabby....

Lol.... That's about right... we going for 6-peat... and 8 overall? (Is it 8?)
....More like 10 straight....12 overall, the young ladies are not even in their prime yet, most are like in their early twenties, still sophomores in college....Wonder what they will be like in the next 5-8 years..
SportsRe: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 11:46am On Apr 28
Watched both games, i must say i am impressed by the showing of our young players, they still have things to fix, however, the talent is there, the hustle plays, the heart...o.m.g grin grin grin grin. I feel sad for the other African teams right now.. grin grin grin grin grin grin cool cool cool cool cool, they where just waiting it out, hoping for a decline from us, when the core of our team starts to retire....with this showing...we might be going for 10 straight titles atleast....#GREEN,WHITE,GREEN.
