Phones / Re: XIAOMI Vs Tecno & Infinix by Carnage4life: 4:07pm On May 30, 2020 |
natsuDragneel: Man I keep seeing this comparison and it’s somehow. How do you compare Xiaomi which is 4th biggest phone brand to Tecno & Infinix. Xiaomi has like 2 phones in the top 10 global bestsellers of Q1 2020. Same as of last quarter too. Comparing a top global brand name to a Transsion that can’t even sell their devices in their own country because they know it is below standard. Even in 2020, Africa is still a dumping ground for Sub par technology and gadgets. And why Africa? Because they know the black man will always allow mediocrity, they know it’s only Africa they can come and sell these phones. The Indians don’t have two heads, those guys don’t settle for less and see the results. Top guys like Oppo, One plus and even Apple rush to India and give them good deals. But here we are contented with phones using slow chips and dated specs. You try to educate our people and tell them to go for better devices and better brands but they still gonna fight you. Only here you’ll see people buy a phone with a MTK P22 and ignore the phone with Snapdragon 665. Same price bracket. It’s just somehow but one day we will get there and catch up with the rest of the world. 1 Like

In the words of olayinkajnr “Shey if una no reply trolls una go die?” At this point I don’t think there is any need to give attention to some people who come to this thread with ulterior motives. I’m guilty of engaging sometimes too. When you see someone type out a sentence like “Infinix is that brand that gives you all round satisfaction“ or tries to shit on the brand, just look away and ignore, obviously that’s how limited his worldview is and you can’t really blame his mentality. You start trading words with him and he drags you to his level. Even though at this point you can’t but feel pity for him and our Nigerian/African brothers who still think like this in 2020. The Indians who are tech savvy and embrace better chips, technology and phones don’t have two heads. Those guys don’t settle for less. Africa will get there one day hopefully and stop accepting sub par technology. Because at this point in 2020 it’s a shame that we’re a still a dumping ground for inferior products and our people still buy it blindly, only Africa! This can’t happen elsewhere. Xiaomi is a superior and bigger brand, 4th biggest phone company in the world. The brand name, track record, software support, solid well built phones coupled with good performance says it all. Anyway, attached is Q1 report from Omdia and Canalys. Just look at the names up there . A good product always shines and speaks for itself. Looks like the Redmi brand is doing so well globally . Cheers guys. 4 Likes 1 Share

olayinkajnr: Just felt I should let him know. His approach and attitude was really wrong. If he feels the OnePlus or Samsung hardware/software is flawless he’s in for a big surprise. Even iOS 13 just got better, 13.4/13.4.1 fixed a lot of issues. But if selling would make him feel better, he should go ahead. 6 Likes |

olanreyman: Boss chill now. Xiaomi phones are solid and have great value for the price. Saw your screenshots from gsmarena, I see other people have the same problem. Thing is for every batch of phones produced. There will always be software/hardware issues with a few. It happens. It is a normal thing. It will be patched and fixed. Luckily Xiaomi is an OEM that drops updates frequently. I use a Redmi too and any issue I have get fixed by updates. I attached few screenshots below so you see other premium brands also have units with issues when they release phones, to the extent of recalling. It ain’t a Xiaomi thing. I’m sure MIUI 12 will fix those issues or future updates will. I understand your anger, take it easy, it’ll be definitely fixed . 9 Likes

dangoteinlaw: Lmao Bro come on. I have an iPhone too!!! You sound like it’s the best thing after sliced bread You’re contradicting yourself with your “Android is for the poor line” Samsungs and the new one Plus cost as much as any iPhone so I don’t get your point about the poor thing there. You’re just being a fanboy and being biased at this point. Because Samsung uses 12 gigs of ram in their phone doesn’t mean inferior. iOS and Android are built different and that’s a good thing tbh. You want a world where everything is same? I mean they’re closed and open OSes bruh. Same as Windows and Mac. Then you go on and talk about Android Engineering being far behind because Snapchat hasn’t optimized their app properly for Android. So Snapchat failure = Android being far behind How?. MKBHD uses Android a lot and doesn’t even talk about it the way you just did and he’s a big YouTuber. Lewis from unbox therapy isn’t even an Apple fan, these guys are big tech guys. You should chill. You are going too far with the classism bourgeoisie vibes. They are just phones and operation systems. Nothing more. Change your view about life man. Tech is beautiful when you drop your bias and use everything it offers. 5 Likes

NinjaMetahuman: Alright boss. I think I understand your yardstick better now and i get your points too I don’t know if you also understand mine. Mine is more from the point of view of the currency(Won’t look this expensive if not for the weakness of our Naira) , long term support and relevance (up to 5 years) and the top class performance of the phone(Same processor in the $1099 iPhone Pro Max). The other specs are also really good down to the Wireless charging, excellent camera, plenty LTE bands and WiFi 6. Etc etc In that compact small size which still has a market. I hope you understand my point of view too. |

NinjaMetahuman: Yeah the Snapdragon 865 is really fast and so is the A13. That’s why I used “one of the most powerful phones”. The Android vs iOS thing is not what I like to do at all. Yes I understand your points. I’m not saying it’s better than any Android or has more value than any android. Check my post again. What I’m saying is for $399 the SE has value. Look at all the specs again. The performance, camera, WiFi 6, LTE bands support, A lot of people are talking about the phone like it’s crap and like it’s a dead phone. The only problem is the old over used design and I tell you plenty people don’t care. Apple knows it’s market very well. I dunno if you get me. And we both know Android support isn’t as good as Apple. Essential is just one outlier out of many. 3 Likes |

AkpaMgbor: Honestly e dey pain me. That is why most times I try to explain to people that these brands aren’t that luxurious. The iPhone/Samsung/Cars/Laptops aren’t really that expensive. It is our currency that is doing us bad. Imagine the naira was still 140/150/160 per dollar. A lot people would be able to afford. I’m sure other countries with stable economies would wonder why Nigeria always complains about prices. Average user there can buy these things. E go better sha one day. 4 Likes |

NinjaMetahuman: The SE uses the A13 chip which is in the iPhone 11 Pro. Making it one of the Most powerful phones right now. The other specs too are up to date and very good. The body design is old yeah but a lot of people who the phone is targeting don’t care, some people still want compact phones/affordable new iPhones. Apple knows their market. Then talking about updates. It’ll get Software updates for up to 4/5 years. The iPhone 6s from 2015 still gets updates. No one does updates better than Apple. It’s not expensive. It is our Naira that is shit. If a dollar was still 160 Naira, this phone would have been 64k. Americans and other countries with good economy see this phone as a very good deal. Mad value for all that specs. These phones aren’t expensive, the Naira is what makes it look that way. So yeah this phone has mad value all round. 6 Likes |

typicalgamer: Apple is smart. The A13 chip is really powerful coupled with iOS 13. Then put in the camera, fast charging and all for 400 dollars. Plus support for 4/5 years Like I said earlier If our Naira was still good, imagine 64k for all of that. Americans don’t mind dropping 400 dollars, no biggie for them. It is understandable why our people bash it here. I actually hate how bad our naira is compared to the dollar. I’m tired of this country tbh 1 Like |

Failure44: Big chief. I understand where you’re coming from but honestly with iOS optimization and power saving chip performance the iPhone can last really long even on a 1800 battery. The iPhone 8 with 1821 mAh coupled with the 10nm A11 Bionic chip does 6 hrs screen on time. Ask your friends using iPhone. The plus iPhones with batteries not up to 3000 lasts really long like Androids with 4000mah. Watch this video. There are more like it if you still doubt but this is evidence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZhDO38vCQ |

The sad thing about this is how deep down most of these tecno fanboys know Tecno used an inferior chip, come on now! A P35 for 95k??, they keep doing it and selling it to your fellow country men and women and here you are with your level of exposure defending them. See India. Those guys will never accept inferior or sup par products, they don’t have two heads or are more educated. But we down here in Africa, always the black man who suffers because of how we defend and accept rubbish. Tecno knows it and they’d keep doing it because they know how we accept mediocrity. Same thing we do during elections to. I just hate how Africa always has to get the crumbs at the table even in 2020. Sadder there are techies who even defend them. Criticism would make them better. At least so they’d use a better chip , type C and 2020 tech. I hope we get there soon. 5 Likes |

atheistandproud: Yeah I read about the lawsuit. Xiaomi actually does well with updates something even Samsung cannot boast about . Samsung flagships get two measly years of updates. The iPhone 4 got 4 years updates and 5 actually got 5 years. The 5s from 2013 got support till 2018. 6s from 2015 is rumored to get iOS 14. Apple really tries in the update department. I brag a lot about Xiaomi when it comes to updates, software support is really important. 2 Likes |
Phones / Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Carnage4life: 10:21am On Mar 17, 2020 |
seunfly: Yeah of course I was talking mostly about midrange phones vs recent old flagships. Ah definitely it'll be better to get the Realme than buying a new iPhone 8 in 2020. And yeah that compromised support is a con, you must have heard about how Apple slows down older iPhones. |
Phones / Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Carnage4life: 8:39am On Mar 17, 2020 |
seunfly: I get what you mean but you can actually recommend an older flagship if the SOC is faster than the present day phone. Especially if you're a gamer on a budget and you want a powerful chipset. The 3 year iPhone should be the X,8+ and 8 using the A11 chips. Those phones are still very fast. Same way a 2017 or 2018 Andriod running snapdragon 835 / 845 from the "classy brands" will handle anything intensive for a while. You can check youtube for speedtests and real life usage videos if you doubt me. |
