Hello,
1. Whoever has more funds should be the primary sponsor. Ensure to provide enough proof of ties between you and the person who wishes to sponsor you. Better still, transfer the funds to a dom account.
2. Find out from the school if they can accept an official letter from your university registrar, stating that you were taught with English as your first language. If they don't accept that then prepare for IELTS. IELTS is not difficult if you properly prepare for it.
Imno1one:
Hello everyone. I am a regular Nairalander but this is my first time on this thread.

I have a Second class lower(3.3 CGPA) in Mass Communication. I am planning to pursue an Advance Diploma course in Canada. With what I have read on here, I used google and found "The Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology", they offer a course which I am interested in, the tuition fee on the site is approximately $14k.

Now here is my trouble. I only have 5m Naira in my personal account. I have no family sponsor, I believe I should be able to get a sponsor(an acquaintance with no family tie) with about 10m in his or her account. What is my chance of getting a visa?

Secondly, on the site, it is stated that IELTS is needed for the course(this is against what I read that IELTS is not needed for any post graduate program), this got me confused because I know people's hurdle with IELTS

Also, I am planning to stay over there in Canada. Could there be an opportunity for me to stay and start a life over there?

I will appreciate your responses.

Hi, try to get a professor in the school to keep in touch with... indicate your interest in the professor's research interest. It is highly competitive. For UoR they accept an average of 20 ppl in ISE dept out of about 1000 apps.

Okay, well he can give it a try if he wishes to... although he needs to note that 'insufficient proof of funds' is a huge red flag for visa approval.

Yes please Good evening a friend of mine got admission there for his diploma which is about 18k Canadian dollars but thinks he can go there without paying and get a job to pay but I tried telling him it’s not possible ......please what are the consequences if one enters without paying the said fees I need to show him this,as I believe you or the knowledgeable people in the house can help me out with this....As he plans to file for visa.....
He has paid the 500$ To accept the admission now he plans to file for visa
Hi, his chances of pulling that off are very slim. Even if he gets the visa, he cannot get registered without paying fees, and even if UoR allows that for him, he cant raise the complete fees, using a part-time job, which is a condition for study permit. I believe the course in question is a one-year program.

Hi guys, reporting live from Regina, Canada. Just a few tips based on my personal experience and thoughts.
1. CIC works based on the information you give to them. They will also judge you based on the same information you give to them. So what ever info you are giving to them, be ready to defend it at all times.

2. One of the reasons for delay in correspondence is too much of uneccessary documents sent to them. They might then need to verify some, thereby causing delays.

3. When sending documents for initial proof of funds, please go as far as sending your sponsor's promotion letters, salary increment letters etc. It helps.

4. For those that get rejected before or just after medical call, it seems to be 80% due to insufficient funds. I think that is the first thing they check. NB. Never deposit bulk money before printing account statement.

5. I dont think it is wise to keep sending them emails when the wait period has not been elapsed, it might raise concerns.

6. If you are asked to later provide etra proof of funds, try to email them the proof late in the night so that it will be among the first set of documents they will treat in Acrra the next day.

God bless you as you hear only Good News

Hmmm that no 3 option is not as easy as it seems,

I was sent this letter twice,

The first time I choose that 3rd option and got a letter from bank that stated i the money available, the current balance and that I intend to use it for my studies. I also attached the CBN circular in it. I did this because if you read what CIC requested they did not ask the bank to include the clause that the money can be requested rather they want the letter from CBN. I did this and thought it was over but lo and behold, CIC wrote sent me another request letter and insisted that the bank should include the clause, they didn't ask for the CBN letter anymore.

I also thought this was not a problem and went to my bank to request for this letter that will include this clause but was shocked when none agreed to give me (GTB, Ecobank and Access bank)

I had no choice than to get a bank draft and pay my full year tuition. @ Ayoola you are lucky your bank gave you the letter.

I am actually happy that God was on my side and made CIC give the opportunity to get a second chance. I am sure that if it was not Him I would have been refused on grounds of insufficient fund.

That was why my timeline got up to 5 months but am grateful it ended in praise.

So at poster, if you have the money please get a draft
If you don't get the letter from the bank and insist they include the clause.
Which bank raised the draft for you? Was it raised in CAD or USD? How long did they take to raise the draft?
