Sports / Suspended FIFA President Sepp Blatter Hospitalized by Cashyguy(m): 3:34am On Nov 12, 2015
Sepp Blatter, the suspended president of soccer’s world governing body FIFA, is spending the week in a Swiss hospital following a stress-related incident, according to his personal spokesman Klaus Stohlker. Blatter, 79, had originally undergone tests and planned to stay home, but his doctors elected to keep him under observation in hospital over the weekend, said the spokesman.

Stohlker added that Blatter, who is serving a 90-day suspension imposed by FIFA’s disciplinary body in October, is doing well and “fully working on his fight against the ethics committee.

In a statement relayed by Stohlker on Wednesday, Blatter said: “I’m the elected president of FIFA, elected by the FIFA Congress and its 209 members, and no committee can replace me.” Blatter, who has denied any wrongdoing, is accused of making a “disloyal payment” of 2 million Swiss francs ($1.99 million) to Michel Platini, who is currently suspended from his role as head of European soccer, in 2011, and cutting a television rights deal that was detrimental to FIFA

Sports / Sergio Agüero Hits Five As Manchester City Demolish Newcastle United by Cashyguy(m): 6:21pm On Oct 03, 2015
Sergio Agüero scored five goals in 20 minutes as Manchester City moved back to the top of the table by running riot against Newcastle. As remarkable a scoring feat as that is, it was all the more astonishing for being utterly impossible to predict at half-time, when City were jeered off the field by their own supporters.

For poor old Newcastle, still searching for their first win and in front for much of the first half, this result was even more cruel than Chelsea’s late comeback on Tyneside last week. At least they salvaged a point from that match. Here, despite more than holding their own in a first half they shaded, they were blown away by a second half explosion that appeared to come from nowhere.

City could have taken the lead in the first few minutes when Tim Krul could not quite hold a Kevin De Bruyne free-kick at the foot of his right post. An almighty goalline scramble ensued but somehow Newcastle survived. A couple of minutes later Kevin Mbabu got in the way of a close-range Agüero header and that was all the home side managed to create in the first half-hour, despite fielding their first-choice attacking quartet for the first time in the Premier League.

Considering the amount of money involved in bringing in De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling over the summer, City’s lack of penetration was a worry for the home support, particularly as Newcastle appeared capable of opening up their opponents with ease. Kevin Mbabu, the makeshift left-back who was again impressive, set up a chance for Aleksandar Mitrovic that Joe Hart had to be alert to foil, though the concern for City was that one decent ball into the area had left the Newcastle striker with only the goalkeeper to beat.

That happened on a number of occasions in the first half. A couple of times City were reprieved by borderline offside decisions, Hart also came to the rescue again by sticking out a leg when Mitrovic really should have scored, so there was no question that Newcastle deserved the lead they took midway through the first half with a goal that fully exposed the uncertainty that usually afflicts this defence whenever Vincent Kompany is missing. First Mbabu knocked the ball past Pablo Zabaleta on the left and confidently beat him for speed. Mbabu’s cross was not particularly well-directed and Eliaquim Mangala managed to cut it out, but only succeeded in setting up Georginio Wijnaldum to have another go, and this time a better delivery that left the central defenders struggling to regain position and allowed Mitrovic to beat Hart with a free header from the six yard line.

The only good news for City was that Newcastle did not add to their lead in the period when they were on top. As half-time approached the home side gradually clawed their way back into the game, with first Agüero and then Fernandinho sending shots narrowly wide, and just as against Chelsea last week Newcastle found themselves asking for trouble by defending too deep.

An equaliser finally arrived three minutes before the break, Fernandinho heading David Silva’s cross back across goal for Agüero to finish from close range. There were half-hearted boos as the players left the field at half-time. Not full-throated, angry dissent, just a low level expression of disappointment. City were supposed to be better than this. Newcastle are winless at the bottom end of the table yet they played the best football. It was no surprise that Sterling was replaced by Jesús Navas for the second half, because it was exactly what some of the home fans had been demanding.

It should not be said that the substitution changed the course of the game, for Navas was not immediately into the action and Newcastle contributed to their own downfall by dozily surrendering possession in their own half to invite Agüero to score a quick second. Nevertheless, the fact remains that a mere five minutes into the second half City were 3-1 in front and Steve McClaren’s side were back on duty as cannon fodder.

There was a touch of good fortune about Agüero’s second goal, a deflection off Yoan Gouffran made life difficult for Krul when the goalkeeper might otherwise have had the shot covered, yet there was nothing streaky about the third, fourth or fifth. The Argentinian’s hat-trick arrived in the 50th minute, his third goal coming just eight minutes of play after the first, when he latched on to De Bruyne’s through ball and instinctively lifted a shot over Krul. Then on the hour the Newcastle defence unwisely stood off the striker to allow a shot from the angle of the area with wholly predictable results, before a fifth goal in 20 minutes came when Agüero turned up on the end of a neat passing triangle involving Silva and De Bruyne.

The Agüero-fest was only interrupted when De Bruyne scored City’s fourth, arguably the best of the afternoon, meeting a Navas cross from the right with a perfectly executed volley to loop the ball over Krul and into the far corner.

There were more grumbles from the home fans when Agüero was taken off shortly after his fifth, though this time they were clearly intended in jest. Had he remained on the field against a dispirited Newcastle side he might easily have approached double figures and Wilfried Bony must have had mixed feeling about coming on as the follow-up act.

Science/Technology / Airtel Nigeria Has Launched A Mobile App To Improve Delivery Of Diesel by Cashyguy(m): 6:12am On Aug 31, 2015
Airtel Nigeria Has Launched a Mobile App to Improve Delivery of Diesel. Airtel in collaboration with Yuzah has presented a portable mobile application aimed at enhancing the delivery of diesel in Nigeria.

Airtel Nigeria , one of the leading mobile telecommunication services provider in Nigeria and a member of Airtel Africa Group, is committed and working tirelessly to live up to expectation of being the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians.

News report has it that the presentation of the portable application was in accordance with its dedication to consistently giving innovative solutions that would improve Nigeria’s economy.

Airtel Nigeria, in partnership with Yuzah the application developer created the mobile app also known as Yuzah, which allows users to request for urgent delivery of diesel to their homes or workplaces, using their mobile phones.

“The simpleness of the product and distribution model earned Yuzah, the N1million prize cash in the ‘Airtel Catapult-A-Start-up’ competition held prior in the year,” the company said

The Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Maurice Newa, described the service as a major aspect by the telco to deliver products and services that offer convenience to its customers.

“Airtel has teamed with Yuzah, one of the champs of ‘Airtel Catapult-A-Start-up’ competition to offer Nigerians this unique service which will further upgrade their access to diesel and location the inconveniences connected with the logistics involved in delivery,” he said.

He added, “Interested customers or users can download the application on their mobile phones from http:// b i t. l y/YuzahApp When this is done, the app will locate their place on the map and they will be able to see all the diesel trucks within their radius.

“The Customers can order diesel through the application and the product will be delivered within an hour once accepted by a Yuzah-approved supplier.”

He clarified that the partnership further lent belief to the company’s Catapult-A-Start-up, “which is driven by its view to support innovation and give power youthful Nigerians by creating opportunities for them to bring their business ideas to realization.”

He added, “As an organisation, we are passionate about building an association for young talented Nigerians. We are aware of the great amount of young people who are blessed with the abilities to develop relevant apps with most of them not having the open door to showoff or develop their skills. With the Catapult-A-Start-up programme, we aim not only to identify talent, but also to encourage and support local substance.”

Remarking on the partnership, the Chief Executive Officer of Yuzah.com, OvoEmorhokpor, stated that the service would offer Nigeria best convenience to purchase diesel through their mobile phones.

“We are very happy and excited about this collaboration with Airtel. Yuzah was born out of need to create a very smooth process to buy diesel and from the initial customer response, we strongly believe the service will be very useful to the larger population who use the product.

“Airtel Nigeria keeps on showing its growing support for entrepreneurship – small-business starting and invention of new things in Nigeria, and we believe we will have a successful partnership,” he said.

He says that Yuzah promises quality services as it performs tank evaluation and quality check of its diesel in front of customers before delivery, in that way guaranteeing the delivered product.

“The service is right now being taken off in pilot areas in Lagos, with plans to expand the service to other parts of the country before the end of the year,” he added.

Sports / Floyd Mayweather Wins Decision Against Manny Pacquiao - INTERVIEWS TALK by Cashyguy(m): 9:49am On May 03, 2015
LAS VEGAS: Floyd Mayweather Jr. was money once again in the richest fight ever.

Mayweather used his reach and his jab Saturday night to frustrate Manny Pacquiao, piling up enough points to win a unanimous decision in their welterweight title bout. Mayweather remained unbeaten in 48 fights with a win that cemented his legacy as the best of his generation.

Pacquiao did what he wanted to do, chasing Mayweather around the ring most of the fight. But he was never able to land a sustained volume of punches, often looking frustrated as Mayweather worked his defensive wizardry once again
Two ringside judges scored the fight 116-112, while the third had it 118-110. The Associated Press had Mayweather ahead 115-113.

``I take my hat off to Manny Pacquiao. I see now why he is at the pinnacle of boxing,'' Mayweather said. ``I knew he was going to push me, win some rounds. I wasn't being hit with a lot of shots until I sit in a pocket and he landed a lot of shots.''

The richest fight in boxing history _ a bout that made Mayweather at least $180 million _ wasn't the best. Far from it, with long periods where both fighters fought cautiously, looking for an edge.

There were no knockdowns, and neither fighter seemed terribly hurt at any time. Pacquiao landed probably the biggest punch in the fight in the fourth round _ a left hand that sent Mayweather into the ropes _ but he wasn't able to consistently land against the elusive champion.

The fight was a chess match, with Mayweather using his jab to keep Pacquiao away most of the fight. Pacquiao tried to force the action, but Mayweather was often out of his reach by the time he found his way inside.

``I thought I won the fight, he didn't do anything,'' Pacquiao said. ``I got him many times with a lot of punches.''

A sellout crowd at the MGM Grand arena roared every time Pacquiao threw a punch, but a good percentage of what he threw never landed. Mayweather often came back with straight right hands, then moved away before Pacquiao could respond.

Ringside punch stats showed Mayweather landing 148 punches of 435, while Pacquiao landed 81 of 429. The volume of punches for Pacquiao was a lot lower than the 600-700 he usually throws in a fight as he tried to measure his aggression against an opponent who was hard to trap.

Mayweather fought confidently in the late rounds, winning the last two rounds on all three scorecards. In the final seconds of the fight he raised his right hand in victory and after the bell rang stood on the ropes, pounding his heart with his gloves.

``You're tough,'' he said to Pacquiao, hugging him in the ring.

Five years in the making, the richest fight ever unfolded before a glittering crowd of celebrities, high rollers and people who had enough money to pay for ringside seats going for $40,000 and up. Before it did, though, it was delayed about a half hour because cable and satellite systems were having trouble keeping up with the pay-per-view demand.

They paid big money to watch two superstars fight for their legacies _ and in Pacquiao's case his country _ in addition to the staggering paydays for both.

Pacquiao had vowed to take the fight to Mayweather and force him into a war. His camp thought Mayweather's 38-year-old legs weren't what they once were, and that he couldn't be on the move the entire fight.

``He is moving around, not easy to throw punches when people moving around,'' Pacquiao said. `` When he stayed, I threw a lot of punches. That's a fight.''

But Mayweather proved them wrong, moving well and taking pot shots at Pacquiao. His only real moment of trouble came in the fourth round when Pacquiao landed his left hand and then flurried to Mayweather's head on the ropes, but he escaped and shook his head at Pacquiao as if to say you didn't hurt me.

In the corner between rounds, Mayweather's father, Floyd Sr. kept yelling at his son to do more. But Mayweather was content to stick with what was working and not take a risk that could cost him the fight.

``I'm a calculated fighter, he is a tough competitor,'' Mayweather said. ``My dad wanted me to do more but Pacquiao is an awkward fighter.''Mayweather said that his fight in September against a yet-to-be-determined opponent would be his last before retirement.

The fight was expected to make Mayweather some $180 million and Pacquiao $120 million, depending on pay-per-view sales. The live gate alone was more than $70 million, and the bout was expected to easily smash the pay-per-view record of 2.48 million buys set in 2007 when Mayweather fought Oscar De La Hoya.
But while the frenzy over the fight pushed up tickets to 3-4 times their retail price the week of the fight, prices dropped dramatically as the fight neared and some tickets were being resold for less than face value.Boxing fans called for the fight to be made five years ago, when both men were in their undisputed prime. But squabbles over promoters, drug testing and a variety of other issues sidelined it until Pacquiao beat Chris Algieri in November and immediately launched a campaign to get the fight made.
When they finally got it, it wasn't the fight it might have been five years ago. But it was enough to settle the question that boxing fans had asked for years _ who would win the big welterweight matchup of the best fighters of their time.

Politics / We Must Vote Buhari For Our Own Survival - Oshiomole by Cashyguy(m): 3:45am On Jan 19, 2015

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole says the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the federal level has reduced Nigeria to a laughing stock in the comity of nations with its incompetence in providing basic amenities and fight insurgency.
He therefore said for our own survival as a national, we must vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, held at Auchi and Irrua at the weekend.
He said it was high time Nigerians asked themselves what the 16 years of PDP leadership in the country has offered.

“For 16 years, they gave us darkness. No light, yet they keep bringing bills. They produced unemployment; our companies have all closed down.
If the Federal Government does not have good industrial policy, unemployment will continue to be here. So PDP brought unemployment.
PDP government brought kidnapping to our country. There was no single case of kidnapping before 1999, PDP brought kidnapping,” Oshiomole said.

“The most worrisome of them all is that in 1999, PDP Government was handed 774 Local Government Areas and as we speak now, Boko Haram controls about 30 Local Government Areas and if they continue to rule, they will get here.
We have the best soldiers in the world, they go to other countries for peace keeping. How come they now say our soldiers are now running from common insurgents? For 16 years, they have not equipped our military.
He therefore urged the people of the state to turn out en masse on February 14 to vote for the APC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari.

“I can give you 100 reasons why we must vote Buhari. It is for our own survival. It goes beyond tribal sentiments. PDP has failed Nigeria.
They have reduced Nigeria to a joke. They have shared our companies to themselves.
They extorted our unemployed graduates all in the name of scam recruitment exercise. You cannot continue to vote for a party that has lost every sense of responsibility and reduced our country to a huge joke even within the African Continent.

“This coming election will be a decisive one. We have a Presidential Candidate that has courage; a Presidential candidate that will fight corruption and you will be counting the casualties.
He will not be like those who say they are fighting corruption and nobody is falling.
“General Buhari was a Military Governor and later served as Minister of Petroleum before becoming the Military Head of State and despite having held all these positions, he never amassed public funds to himself to become rich.
He is the kind of man Nigerians needs. A man that will fight corruption, instill discipline and ensure that the poor are not cheated.

“Buhari built Kaduna and Warri refineries. How can they say all our refineries are good and yet we are importing products and because we are importing, that is why petrol and kerosene price have refused to reduce.
If our refineries are not working, where will those our children studying Electrical, Petroleum, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering work after graduation? If PDP could not do refinery in 16 years, do you want to give them another chance to fail? That is why Nigeria needs General Buhari,” Oshiomole said.
