Career / Re: Should I Go And Work In The Uk? by cassidy06(m): 10:53am On Nov 10, 2006
I will seriously advise you to make sure you get a job in the UK before resigning ur job here in Nigeria. HSMP does not give you authomatic employment in the UK as there are many close friends of mine that went to UK thru HSMP but could still not find job. You should also be aware that the HSMP docs become invalid if you are not able to get a job in your field after 18 months or so. Start applying for jobs online and make sure u get one b4 u quit ur job. This is just an advise, the final decision is ABSOLUTELY YOURS.

Investment / Re: Impending IPO Of Dangote Sugar Refinery by cassidy06(m): 6:51pm On Nov 06, 2006
This is an impressive post from ebony9ja. All what he has said about Dangote sugar is true. My firm is also a party to the offer, So i agree with all the financials he gave here. If anyone is interested, u can mail me at cooltalk06@yahoo.com or contact ebony9ja for assistance. Dangote had already showed his pedigree in the capital market with BCC where pple made lots and lots of money this year. The issue is not whether a coy is "one man business" or not, as an investor, you should only be interested in returns (dividends + capital gains). Afterall, virtually all the coys in the world were started by one person initially. You should know that Schlumberger, Yamaha, Ford, Morgan Stanley etc are family names and their history can be traced to one man. So, sentiments apart, pple should always base investments decisions on its merit and not on sentiments.

@ ebony9ja, are u a stockbroker?

Politics / Re: Between Obasanjo And Atiku, Who Is The Thief? by cassidy06(m): 2:41pm On Oct 18, 2006
The best way is for both of them to self-destruct themselves so that this crisis will consume both of them and probably land them in jails. that is all i wish them. See the attached file

I recently did my final interview at etb. It was really a kill as all the MD's of their 3 companies along with their ED's were in attendance. Anyway, it was a good experience. I hope they release the letter of appointment soonest.

Health / Re: Can Two People With AS Genotype Marry? by cassidy06(m): 7:31pm On Sep 18, 2006
@ Darkmanzero

I have been monitoring all ur responses ever since i started this thread, i must confess that they are a little bit too extreme. In the first instance, if you say "AS'' vs "AS" should not marry at all, i have no problems with that (even though i may not necessarily agree with you). My parents are both "AS" and they have nine children and by the grace of God, all of us are "AS". Let me quickly point out that i really do not support their action but i can't blame them either simply because they are both illiterate and i doubt whether this issue was really a factor during their time. I know you will say that what if all of us turned out to be "SS"? This is why i said that i am not making a case for them. Come to think of it, if we say "AS" pple should not get married, but "AS" can still marry "AA", it simply means that at any given time, pple will still be giving birth to carriers and by implication, we will still be having "SS" children although at a lower rate. But the truth is that the "SS" gene cannot be eradicated, i am sure you will agree with me if you do your research well. You also went too far by saying pple with "SS" gene should not marry at all. I think that is a little bit unfair too. What if they have an "AA" partner which means that they cannot have an "SS" child(ren). I have painfully agree to part with my girlfriend not because i do not have faith or because i am nursing a fear of having an "SS" but simply because my instincts told me to stop the relationship. At worst, we could have gone ahead with our plans and do genetic test for the foetus during pregnancy with the aim of getting rid of it if it turns unfavourable but i deliberately did not consider this option because if i did not do abortion for any girl at my age, i see no reason why i should do it as a legally married person. But since i took the decision, i have had to contend with a whole lot of trouble from every quarters (including my girlfriend's mother who felt i was just looking for excuses to abandon her daughter when the issue of marriage came up). There is a girl in my place of work that really do not believe my reasons for breaking the relationship, she has been searching for Mr. Right for the past few years (she is 31yrs now) and recently found a man that seem serious to ask her hand in marriage. She told me that there is no way under the sun she is gonna allow the guy to go away just because of a "flimpsy excuse" (according to her) that they are not genetically compatible. She has even vowed not to check her genotype and will not even encourage the guy to do it. The bottomline of my story is that, it is not easy to break up a two year old relationship most especially when it appears as if one has found his soulmate. Although, i do not know your marital/relationship status, but i can tell you that it is not easy to let go such a relationship. You really have to be a very strong person to be able to do it. Anyway, in spite of all what you have said, i still respect your opinion and i must admit that i have learnt some things from your postings. Thanks so much.

Career / Re: Any Hope 4 Third Class Graduates? by cassidy06(m): 8:43pm On Sep 14, 2006
My Dear, There are always solutions to every problems/Hurdles in life. It only require determination and persistence. A friend of mine made a third class in school but did not allow that to weigh him down. He got a job as a teacher in a secondary school and started ICAN, which he finished within two years. He also did a PGD and Msc during the three years he worked as a teacher. He is today a BIG BOY in one of the oil companies. He got the job at the age of 32 without any experience whatsoever (apart from teching which has nothing to do with his current job). So, dont, give up just yet, life is a race that only the focused/dertermined can finish. Identify your goals in life and strive hard to achieve them inspite of any hinderance or obstacles. Good luck.

I want to thank everyone that has so far sent in their opinions and advice. We (myself and my girlfriend) have carefully read through all the responses and have painfully agreed to stop our relationship and remain casual friends. I must admit that it is the toughest decision to take in my life moreso as we are just few months into our wedding. Anyway, i am putting my faith in God with the believe that he will give me my rightful wife cos i waited for many years before i found this girl. The question now is "when am i going to get another nice girl that is AA (since i have no other choice)?. I need to settle down soonest cos i'm over 30 and i dont want to spend my pension in raising children. Thank you all.

Health / Can Two People With AS Genotype Marry? by cassidy06(m): 7:56pm On Sep 05, 2006
Hi Guys,

I need your honest advise especially the Medicos in the house. Me and my girlfriend recently discovered that we have the same "AS" genotype which means there is a 25% chance of having an "SS" child. This is posing a major challenge to our relationship as we had earlier planned to marry in december. I am suggesting that we risk it and go ahead with our plans but she is scared but doesnt want to loose me at the same time. She has been crying for the past few days since we discovered. What should we do?
