Hello Cashmadam and others. Thanks for the encouragement.
I have been talking to the school, they havent budged yet, but we are still pleading and putting pressure.

Please can anyone advice on how one can pick up a passport from TLS (even though I paid for Courier) I feel courier will take a few days, so I want to go to go and pick up from TLS myself and save some time.

anyone with a telephone number?

Cashmadam:

Congratulations! Inform your school immediately if you haven't done that already. Follow up with a phone call first thing tomorrow morning. Ensure you explain your situation in great detail.

In the meantime, check your email often and be ready to pick up your passport as soon as it is ready for pick up. Also, check for tickets and be ready to pay for one and travel.

Push as much as you can with your school. They can be quite strict but God is able and He will come through for you.

Keep us informed. Good luck!

Approval Letter came in this morning. Visa Approved
However, Paspport has not yet moved to VAC on the TLS website. So not sure when one can realistically get the passport.
And the enrollment deadline is still tomorrow, 9th October.

Please house What do you advice?

Hello `@dduchess90 and others.

Please I need a little advice on what to do.

school has given till 9th October (next Monday) as final date for enrolment. The clearly stated that there will be no extension.

I have called, I have escalated by mail etc. Nothing positive yet.

Please what do I do?

Do i cancel and withdraw the application?

If I dont cancel, (and visa comes out but I am unable to travel) will I still be able to get a refund of IHS and Application fee? (because as it is, it is very very unlikely that I will make it).

Please advice

It's tricky. Are you absolutely sure your school cannot accomodate you beyond 9 October? I suggest you call the school today and be absolutely sure about the deadline. As it is, you can only pray and hope you get your visa latest tomorrow and travel over the weekend. It's very tight but I believe in miracles. God can do anything.

Hello Gurus and Nairalanders.

Urgent response needed please

I sent my visa application link to someone in UK to help make the visa fee payment. In the process, he said he clicked YES for a question asking if the applicant has a Chevening Scholarship. The end result is that the application now says No Payment Required.

The applicant does not have a Chevening Scholarship. He needs to pay for his visa fee. He has already paid IHS before now. And now the application is not giving us an option to rectify this error. Only to CANCEL Application.

Please, can anyone direct on what to do?
If we cancel the application, what happens to the IHS fees that has already been paid? (No money to pay another one again o!!!!)

Any leads will be appreciated

Re: TB Test for Student Visa

My ward just finished a one year foundation course in UK. He has gained admission into (another) university for his undergraduate studies. Having been in the UK for the last 1year, the (new) university did not request for TB test during the CAS interview/documentation (they said he doesnt need it).

1. Please how long is a TB test valid for? (He did one last year before he went for his foundation program)
2. Does he need to do another TB test for this new visa application? (He returned to Nigeria last week and is planning to return to UK for his undergraduate studies this september)

Thank you

Hello all,
Please can someone help me with the answer to this question.

Is my application date the day I do Biometrics, or the date I submit my form online?

Please gurus in the house

My wards visa came out yesterday. Just followed the principles here, no long story to share. Thankful for the success and everyone's help

However, visa expiry date seems to be wrong. It says Visa Valid from 14/09/22 and Valid until 13/12/2022 (2022, this year December).

Please any advice on how I can go about correcting this

And hope it doesn't have any effect on POE if correction cannot be made before departure?

Hi all and Gurus on this thread. I have read through the thread and very thankful for all the contributions. I however have a few questions concerning burden of proof at POE:

DW will be travelling alone to give birth. I am the sponsor

1. If she is travelling with about 6k dollars cash and about 3kdollar in Nigerian Dom Account - do i need to print the dommicially account statement for her to take along?
2. Do I also need to print statements of my other naira accounts and give her to show that we can afford payment (since I wont be there). I do not have much cash in the statements anyway, but there is good cashflow and it is a salary account
3. What other documents from me may help as burden of proof?

Thanks Ekpotek and others
Please what is the exact cost this extra service? What exactly is being paid for?
Is it paid per person (we are 3)
And is there any REAL difference in any of the centres - e.g Speed of Visa, time at application centre etc?

Thanks ooo

ekpotek:

VI is user pay centre. So you pay to use it, whereas ikeja centre is free. The cost will be added to your application fee when you choose VI centre online.

Hello guys,
Please is there any difference between the Ikeja and Victoria Island Visa Application Centre?
I saw in the website that there is an additional charge to use the VI centre. Please how much is this charge and what is it for?
I intend to come into Lagos on the day of my appointment and if possible leave same day, so I will like the more convenient option (though cost is a consideration too.)

Thanks guys

Hi @justwise and all,
I want to apply for 6months UK visa for my wife and daughter.
I have a 5year UK visa, and valid US visa on passport. Wifey and daughter also have valid US Visas. They have previously had 6months UK visas which we used to travel in 2014. We both have a good travel history.

My wife works, but her pay is very infinitesimal. Like 50k per month. So I will be footing the bill.
My salary is about 400k monthly (net) and I also have a registered business for about 7years.
In our Previous application, my brother who has a resident permit sent me his documents and all, and we stayed in his house. However, this time, I do not plan to stay in his place, as we only plan 5days in UK before going to US. Hence we plan to stay in a hotel. Therefore, do I still need to ask for his documents?

Also, though I have a good account turnover, the balance on my personal account is 1m. 1 also have a dollar card with about 1k dollars.

1. Do I need to get documents from my wife's place of work? Actually, I will prefer not to, since I am the one footing the bill
2. will they need her statement of account? Like I said, her salary is 50k
3. Do I need to beef up my account first, or is the 1m balance ok? I plan to apply soon to travel early August, so i really dont av time to beef it up
4. Since I do not plan to see my brother, can I just apply for tourist visa? Or do I do the normal family visit options that i used for their previous application.
5. I already have my visa. Do I need any letter from my place of work showing I will be on leave at that period?

Please advice

Castalia: Gurus,
I intend to travel to UK in November. I already have the visa, BUT my passport expires Feb next year. I m spending just 2 weeks and will be back same November.
Am I likely to have any issues travelling (since the passport is less than 6months to expiry?).?
Please advice

Vicjustice:
No, you are fine, even a valid visa in an expired passport is tender-able, the 6 months requirement is only when you are applying for the visa

3sha4lyf:
Lol. VicJustice, according to the declaration you sign during application, there is a clause which says that "I understand that the fee payable is for an application processing and entry clearance decision-making service... I also understand that my visa application fee will be refunded only if the application is withdrawn in writing within 3 months and 7 days of the original date of application and prior to submission of biometric data or any processing taking place".
IF this is true, then can't one withdraw an application since [s]he hasn't gone for submission/interview/biometrics?
Vicjustice:
1) Actually, visa application fee of any category can not be refunded.
2) The "earlier" application is invalid and forfeited
3) You can't do anything about it, you just have to let go. This particular application would have no effect on future applications unless they contradict.
@ 3sha4lyf, i acknowledge your opinion, and I will understand if you disagree with my answers, kindly express your disagreements and the differences would be worked out.

Thanks Vic justice and 3sha4lyf
@3 shall - if it is possible, how is it done? (It's a 6 months visa application)

Dear Gurus,
Please i need advice for my sister (She is not on Nairaland).
She applied, paid her visa fees, and submitted her application, and fixed and interview date.
However, she was not able to attend the interview because of exigencies. Now, the date for that planned trip (August 5) has passed.
Now, she wants to start a new application, with proposed travel date for November.
Please, kindly advice on the following:
1. How does/can she get a refund for her initial payment?
2. What happens to her earlier application?
3. Any advice on how to go about it?

Thanks in advance

Vicjustice: Your wife's low income is not the problem here, there are other things that pose threats to your applications than her salary.
Your monthly income of N600k is impressive, but, you will have to prove the legitimacy of the sources of income, and as you have admitted that your company's is behind time in tax compliance, that is a problem.
You said you have nothing much to do or see in the UK except to spend 7 days with your brother? That too pose a significant risk as your travel would be seen as purposeless visit; it is wise to plan (or at least, have something to say about) how you intend to spend your days in the uk: activity plans are necessary.

Thanks Vicjustice.
I will plan and add to the itinerary. That shouldn't be too difficult, though I have done most of the site seeing in earlier trips.
The reason I did not want to put too much on tours/site seeing is in order not to increase the budget by too much visavis my monthly income, and my account balance

Please what do you advice as per my business. Should I leave it out completely because of the tax issue? Even though I get income from there, it is not a 'salary' per se. I am including it more as a tie, than as a source of income. I actually have the Prepared Auditors Account & Revenue Collector's Receipt of Tax payment for 2013 though, but due to some long story, the Tax Clearance Certificate is not ready. Please advice

Do I need to include wedding pictures of myself and my wife. I think I saw some suggestions to that effect in the thread.

Lastly, can I get your thoughts on the suggestion about doing a valuation of the property made above (Thanks @superior1). That is an extra expense ooo, and I wouldn't want to do it if it aint necessary.

Thanks all.

MOD et all (justwise, Vicjustice, 3sh4life and all the gurus grin

Thanks for all the responses so far. They are enlightening.
I intend to submit my application next week, but just want to be sure if I am ready to go. This is my situation.

I am applying for a family visit visa for myself, my wife and daughter. My brother is a permanent resident lecturing in a university, and has sent the required docs.
ME: I have previously got 6months and 2year Visas. Travelled 3x, spent less than 2weeks on each occasion. Now intend to apply for 5years
WIFE: Wife was denied in 2010. We weren't married then. Reason was insufficient ties and funding. Applying for 6months
Daughter: Applying for 6months.

I am the sole sponsor. I work in a multinational coy and I also own a business (LTD) (a pharmacy), but my tax documents aint up to date. My monthly income is 600k, part of which comes from this business, so I plan to include the company papers and bank statement (should I include the bank statement?). I own 98% of the shares and am the sole signatory. I also submitted it in previous applications, so that's why I want to add it. I don't receive a fixed salary from the business, but funds from there are available for my use.

My balance at the time of application will be about N1.2m. Budget for the trip is 850k. of which the major expense is flight ticket (500k). I don't intend to spend a whole lot on visiting tourist sites, so I dint include that as part of my itinerary. Basically, I intend to spend 7days, my itinerary says - I will be spending time with my brother and his family in Wales (is that ok?). (So no cost for accommodation and feeding)

My wife works, but her salary is quite small (70k/month) and INCONSISTENT to say the least. (Though I am the one sponsoring the trip). She has received salary only about 3times this year. Hope that will not count against her with the ECO? I am her only tie to the country (and our daughter) and we are all travelling together. Her travel history is Dubai and Ghana. My real concern is for my wife since she has been refused before. I don't want a situation were I am given and she isn't.

Apart from the documents from my brother who is inviting us, I am submitting the following:
1. Work documents - employment letter, Letter to embassy from work identifying me and stating my leave days
2. Financial doc - My acct statement, my pay slips, the business account statement (and CAC documents)
3. Property - C/O of a landed property. I have a building on it, but I don't know how to pass that information across that it is not a bare land
4. Certificates - Birth certificate of baby, marriage certificate, (Does we need to write a letter of permission for our daughter to travel? bear in mind that we are all travelling together)

Any other thing to add? Any suggestion or recommendations?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Castalia: 6:23pm On Jul 15, 2014
Please another question

I am applying with my wife and daughter and I am the sponsor.
I want to know if our application will go as a single document, OR are they going to be taken/packaged separately. I am supposed to make copies of all the documents for each of their applications if they are going to be treated separately? For instance - am I suppose to get 3 original copies of my bank statement, one for my application, one for my wife, one for my daughter's application?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Castalia: 6:07pm On Jul 15, 2014
Dear MOD and all
Please how do we answer these questions for a 6 month old infant who is traveling with her parents:

How much of your total monthly income is given to your family members and other dependants?

What is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP(£)?

The total amount of money you have for this trip

The cost of the aeroplane, boat or train tickets

The cost of your accommodation

The cost of your living expenses

What is the total cost of your trip, including money others may be giving you, in GBP(£)

I have checked the thread and I dint see any recommended answers for these questions for an infant (6months old) I know there are answers for a spouse who is being sponsored, but I dint see any specific recommendations on how they can be answered for infants. So please help
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Castalia: 3:33pm On Jul 15, 2014
Vicjustice:
"ISSUING AUTHORITY" is the Embassy, Consulate, Commission, Immigration or other Deplomatic authorities that granted the visa.
Now, some issueing authorities like to enter the name of the city of location, while others like to use their departments, and some prefer the use of codes.
Examples
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Riga
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Embassy Of Iraq, Lagos
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Dub-454.
You may need to check the visa on your passport to get the precise refference of the issueing authority, but it is not a big deal if the passport is unavailable, in that case, simply write "Can't Recall" or just write the name of the embassy etc

@Vicjustice
The Visa say: Issued in: Abuja

However, justwise says I should write British High Commission, which seems to be what you are saying in your last line

So is there a consensus on writing 'British High Commission'?

NB: There is even not enough space provided, if not one should have written it in full like this - British High Commision, Abuja
justwise:
British High Commission
justwise:
British High Commission
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Castalia: 11:00am On Jul 15, 2014
Justwise, Vicjustice, et al

Please what is the correct answer to this question in the VAF (for those who have been issued a UK visa in the past)
Issuiing Authority: What authority issued your visa i.e. British Embassy, High Commission, Consulate?

Do we write:
British High Commission
OR
ABUJA (or Lagos as the case may be)

Because in the visa, there is a place written: Issued in: Abuja
