MOD et all (justwise, Vicjustice, 3sh4life and all the gurus grin

Thanks for all the responses so far. They are enlightening.
I intend to submit my application next week, but just want to be sure if I am ready to go. This is my situation.

I am applying for a family visit visa for myself, my wife and daughter. My brother is a permanent resident lecturing in a university, and has sent the required docs.
ME: I have previously got 6months and 2year Visas. Travelled 3x, spent less than 2weeks on each occasion. Now intend to apply for 5years
WIFE: Wife was denied in 2010. We weren't married then. Reason was insufficient ties and funding. Applying for 6months
Daughter: Applying for 6months.

I am the sole sponsor. I work in a multinational coy and I also own a business (LTD) (a pharmacy), but my tax documents aint up to date. My monthly income is 600k, part of which comes from this business, so I plan to include the company papers and bank statement (should I include the bank statement?). I own 98% of the shares and am the sole signatory. I also submitted it in previous applications, so that's why I want to add it. I don't receive a fixed salary from the business, but funds from there are available for my use.

My balance at the time of application will be about N1.2m. Budget for the trip is 850k. of which the major expense is flight ticket (500k). I don't intend to spend a whole lot on visiting tourist sites, so I dint include that as part of my itinerary. Basically, I intend to spend 7days, my itinerary says - I will be spending time with my brother and his family in Wales (is that ok?). (So no cost for accommodation and feeding)

My wife works, but her salary is quite small (70k/month) and INCONSISTENT to say the least. (Though I am the one sponsoring the trip). She has received salary only about 3times this year. Hope that will not count against her with the ECO? I am her only tie to the country (and our daughter) and we are all travelling together. Her travel history is Dubai and Ghana. My real concern is for my wife since she has been refused before. I don't want a situation were I am given and she isn't.

Apart from the documents from my brother who is inviting us, I am submitting the following:
1. Work documents - employment letter, Letter to embassy from work identifying me and stating my leave days
2. Financial doc - My acct statement, my pay slips, the business account statement (and CAC documents)
3. Property - C/O of a landed property. I have a building on it, but I don't know how to pass that information across that it is not a bare land
4. Certificates - Birth certificate of baby, marriage certificate, (Does we need to write a letter of permission for our daughter to travel? bear in mind that we are all travelling together)

Any other thing to add? Any suggestion or recommendations?

Please another question

I am applying with my wife and daughter and I am the sponsor.
I want to know if our application will go as a single document, OR are they going to be taken/packaged separately. I am supposed to make copies of all the documents for each of their applications if they are going to be treated separately? For instance - am I suppose to get 3 original copies of my bank statement, one for my application, one for my wife, one for my daughter's application?

Dear MOD and all
Please how do we answer these questions for a 6 month old infant who is traveling with her parents:

How much of your total monthly income is given to your family members and other dependants?

What is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP(£)?

The total amount of money you have for this trip

The cost of the aeroplane, boat or train tickets

The cost of your accommodation

The cost of your living expenses

What is the total cost of your trip, including money others may be giving you, in GBP(£)

I have checked the thread and I dint see any recommended answers for these questions for an infant (6months old) I know there are answers for a spouse who is being sponsored, but I dint see any specific recommendations on how they can be answered for infants. So please help

Vicjustice: "ISSUING AUTHORITY" is the Embassy, Consulate, Commission, Immigration or other Deplomatic authorities that granted the visa.
Now, some issueing authorities like to enter the name of the city of location, while others like to use their departments, and some prefer the use of codes.
Examples
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Riga
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Embassy Of Iraq, Lagos
ISSUEING AUTHORITY: Dub-454.
You may need to check the visa on your passport to get the precise refference of the issueing authority, but it is not a big deal if the passport is unavailable, in that case, simply write "Can't Recall" or just write the name of the embassy etc
@Vicjustice
The Visa say: Issued in: Abuja

However, justwise says I should write British High Commission, which seems to be what you are saying in your last line

So is there a consensus on writing 'British High Commission'?

NB: There is even not enough space provided, if not one should have written it in full like this - British High Commision, Abuja
justwise: British High Commission
justwise: British High Commission

Justwise, Vicjustice, et al

Please what is the correct answer to this question in the VAF (for those who have been issued a UK visa in the past)
Issuiing Authority: What authority issued your visa i.e. British Embassy, High Commission, Consulate?

Do we write:
British High Commission
OR
ABUJA (or Lagos as the case may be)

Because in the visa, there is a place written: Issued in: Abuja

Please clarify

Please a little advice (justwise et al...
I have filled the online visa application, though yet to submit.
However, I intend to visit Ghana for my sister's graduation on the 26th of this month, and return on the 28th. I don't want to submit because I don't want my passport to be in the UK embassy's possession, thus preventing me from attending the graduation ceremony.
My planned trip to the UK is for August ending, so I plan on going to the VAC immediately I return on the 28th to submit my documents. Also, I'm not sure I would have the luxury of time to travel to Lagos (or Abuja) for submission soon after this.

Now this is my issue:
I did not fill this journey to Ghana in the application (obviously, since I haven't yet made the trip). But, I want to submit the online form and make the payment and book an appointment and all other necessary stuff before the journey to Ghana, so that on my arrival on the 28th, so that I can just submit that day and return to base.

Will it amount to telling a lie if I don't include it in the application as part of my journeys, and the ECO sees the stamps on my passport? Note that I would have probably submitted the online application a week or so before I make this trip.

Please advice

'Have you been issued any visa for the UK, UK Overseas Territories or Commonwealth Country in the last 10 years?'
Please I have a concern about this question above in the visa application form.
The part that says 'Commonwealth Country'... Does that mean all the common wealth countries - inclusive of South Africa, Canada, Australia and even Nigeria?

TravelRe: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by Castalia: 10:52pm On Jan 13, 2011
This is an excerpt from the refusal letter,

You have stated in your visa application form that you are retired and that u receive income from family and friends. however, u have not provided evidence of income u receive, pension u are entitled to, or any assets or property owned by u. Furthermore, it is noted that ur husband is deceased and u dont have any children living with you. I recognise that you sponsor intends to undertake the cost of your visit to UK, but i must take into consideration your personal and economic circumstances in coming to my decision. Therefore, on the bal of probabs, #

You have stated that your son will bear the cost of your visit. however, on the evidence provided i am not satisfied he will be able to do so. You have not submitted any evidence that your son has the funds to meet the cost of your visit, such as his personal bank statement, (we submited a statement o!) Therefore, on the bal of probabs,

Advice on appeal pls,
Or do we just reapply?
Can we do it immediately??, or do we av to wait for six months before reapplying?
Advice,

Vicjustice:
Let your brother go to the authority and make an undertaking declaration regarding her intended visit; he should state in the declaration that he will personally foot her every expenses and guarantee her return to Nigeria in due time. Such undertaking should see her through since she is not in position to meet the requirement of visiting visa.
@vicjustice
Pls how does he do this? And where?

thanx

Pls i need advice on this one!!!

My brother invited my mum to UK for family visit to see her grandchild but she was denied.

My brother is legally in UK for 7years now, has a Ph.D and lectures in one of their universities. He invited me, my sis and bro for his Ph.D grad last year and we were all given visas. 2 of us attended and av returned. However, reason given for my mum's refusal was that:

we did not show that he wil be able to take care of her expenses while there (he submited his bank account, and credit card details, same ones we used)

that because she is retired and no one is staying with her presently, they are not satisfied that she wil return

that she did not show her account/financial doc (mybro was sponsoring the trip so we did not add her account details, which is not much anyway. her source of income is that she receives money from family)

I dont av the letter right now, but those are the points on it.

How do i go abt the appeal? Is oral or written better. OR Can we just simply re-apply immediately?
All she wants is to go see her grandchild and come back to Naija (tho we filled 2months as period pf stay)

Advice pls

Hi NL

I want to go to UK for a visit in december on a tourist visa. My brothers PhD graduation also comes up then, so i am in a fix as touching which visa to apply for. I'v got some advice earlier, but now, the issue is my brother has sent the relevant docs for his graduation - an IV letter from him, a statement of his account (dont know if d bal is OK o), and others. In the letter, he states that he is inviting me for his graduation, but there is no real letter fro the school he graduated from, is that ok?

2. do i stil go for the tourist or shld i just take family visit? (even tho he sent his bank details, i am the one sponsoring myself.

3. Experts kindly advice

Hi NL
Kindly help with your suggestions
I want to go to UK for about 2weeks in Nov/Dec. I considered applying for a tourist visa. I work in a manufacturing company & earn abt 1.4m per.annum, but i have a current account with a turnover of abt 15mil in 6months, from other businesses i do. I could keep as much as 1-2mil in the account if neccesary, and I could make and pay for my hotel reservation. I also av a dom acct wit abt $2000. My passport is virgin. How good (or bad)am I to go?

However, my brother and sister are having their graduation ceremonies about that time (december). My brother (Ph.D) and Sister (M.Sc) from 2 different Universities in UK. They could provide me with invitation letters for their graduation. Guess this amounts to family visit if i take this option.

Which option (tourist or family) do you consider is better and what are my chances? What do i need to do and know?

By the way, when talking about landed property and all, must it be with c of o?

What if you have land, even house self, but no c of o, just the deed of conveyance and approved plan.

How does one submit/add this to assets?

@Ahonohai/eriko2k2
Thanx for your contributions.
2 things though: I dont av real records of those business transactions. I buy and sell my companies products, but the invoices and receipts dont beear my name (i be staff, i no fit be customer at the same time) However, the bank statement should show regular transactions in and out of the accounts.

Secondly, not married, so no strong family ties.

Also, my mum and one or two of my siblings may also want to go for the graduation. Will the "crowd" affect their judgement

And why dint u consider d tourist visa stuff at all?

PoliticsRe: See What Sanusi Has Done To HiTV. They've Lost Premiership Rights! Painful! by Castalia: 8:48pm On Jul 27, 2010
We need to protect Nigerian companies, someway, somehow.

Foreign companies are rushing to do business in Nigeria, because naija is fertile for business.
But these fat bank account bullies from SA, Asia and Europe just milk the good from us, and export the cash back to their countries. At this rate, only the mega rich like Dangote and Adenuga will be able to compete with them when it comes to buying out the competition. Few Nigerian companies can survive in this atmosphere. We need to protect them from these foreign bullies.

HiTV was (or is) a noble and bold initiative, i respect them. They have their hitches, they did not improve their programming, YES i agree, but they are a new company, and all new companies experience such hitches. They would have gotten better with time. Don't hate them for fighting piracy - The cable companies should do what is right.

Nigeria must have policies in place to protect her own. Case in Point - Ghana.

Toyin Subair - get back to the drawing board. Sanusi, CBN or DSTV, it has happened. Look forward. Be bold and Bright, just maybe, you may rise again.
