DIRECTOR of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State, Mrs. Florence Ikanone, yesterday paraded a 27-year-old graduate of Accountancy from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Mr. Philip Urieh, for allegedly impersonating Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on the social networking site, facebook.

She said the suspect, a native of Uzere in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, was recently arrested by operatives of the state command following painstaking surveillance that was mounted on him as a result of series of reports received on the subject.

According to the Director, the suspect through the facebook platform allegedly defrauded unsuspecting persons to the tune of over N5 million by opening a facebook account with the name and picture of Governor Uduaghan which he uses to deceive his clients, promising them juicy contracts and government appointments.

“The suspect’s modus operandi is that he receives messages and responds to them as if he were the executive governor. He defrauded one Felix from Agbor through the facebook account to the tune N1.2 million on the promise of making him to sponsor beauty pageant.

“In addition, he paid N600,000 for billboards, praising the governor; N480,000 to be given to Chief of Staff; N540,000 for repairs of a Kia salon car belonging to subject; and he was equally instructed to pay N500,000 to be given to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly to ease his screening as a commissionership candidate,” said the SSS boss.

ONITSHA — Movement for
the Actualization of
Sovereign State of, MASSOB,
has threatened to divide the
country if their leader, Chief
Ralph Uwazurike, was
arrested for trial over
treason.
MASSOB members who
marched in large numbers in
their Biafran uniform to all
major streets of Onitsha,
yesterday, carried placards
with various inscriptions.
Speaking through its
regional administrator for
Onitsha Region 4, Chief
Arinze Igbani, MASSOB said
the protest was anchored on
the basis of injustice,
incessant harassment and
killing of Igbo people across
the country.
It made reference to Apo six
killing of Igbo youths who
are yet to get justice after
several years the crime was
committed and urged the
federal government to
refrain from the arrest of
MASSOB members who he
described as non-violent
agitators.
Igbani lamented that Igbos
had continued to sacrifice
their lives for the unity of the
country without any
commensurate
compensation, adding that
Boko Haram militants that
had carried out violent
attacks on Nigerian citizens
and institutions was on the
verge of being granted
amnesty by the federal
government.
He vowed that MASSOB
would continue to agitate for
self-determination no matter
the government’s harsh
approach that exposed their
lives to danger.
He called on all “Biafrans”
both at home and in the
Diaspora to observe June 8
as a day of sober reflection
to pay their respect to all
Igbos killed in Nigeria by the
powers that be.
He said: “I call on Igbos in
Nigeria and in diaspora to
remain at home on June 8,
this year as a mark of respect
for all fallen heroes of “Biafra
who have been massacred in
the Country for the simple
excuse that they’re Igbos.
“Why must the Federal
Government subject Ndi-Igbo
to second class citizens in a
country they have helped to
build?”
In his remark, Anambra State
MASSOB coordinator on
Security, Comrade Nnaemeka
Onyemaechi disclosed that
the security agents in the
state have strategized on
how to clamp down and kill
MASSOB members and their
sympathizers and called on
all Igbos to observe June 8 as
a sit-at-home to escape the
brutality of the Country’s
Security agents, stressing
that MASSOB would continue
to agitate the independence
of her people no matter the
