So how did Decree 34 abolish Regionalism if states were created after Ironsi was deposed? You had Regions, someone then abolished those Regions and created states after Ironsi was removed, yet you say it was Ironsi that abolished Regionalism? Explain this magic for us
You need to watch the video again, Kanu was not supporting Nigeria unity, he was protesting against herdsmen killings in Nigeria. In that video, he warned that if herdsmen killings is not stopped, it would affect the unity of Nigeria, and he was right
Today, one of the biggest reasons why Kanu and Igboho are calling for separation is herdsmen killing across the country
You wasted your time reading and analysing that junk!
Ijoh: Your support is personal The Ijaw National Congress, the Apex Ijaw sociocultural organisations is now fully working on the Ijaw Republic movements and nothing you Ipob can do over that.
Again, no one is fighting you. The people must decide. However, if we are divided in our region, Abuja will never allow the people to decide. Why are you finding it difficult to understand this, man? Are you truly Ijaw?
mmanwuijele: I understand you, but I don't fully agree. The 3 proposed countries will in fact, foster their cultures and identities better than it is being done now. They will also have the federal backing and control to do so. I can't speak for other regions, but for the East, the Politicians we know of today are viewed by the majority as Colonial Warrant Chiefs. They don't have the hearts and love of our people like Dr Michael Okpara, Ojukwu did, and today, like Kanu does in various parts. These Politicians will have no place in Biafra.
IGBOSON1: Move on to what exactly!? Even though he misapplied the term 'Eastern Region' as he made mention of the Idoma, Itshekiri, Uhrobo, etc (who were not part of the legally defined geographical area then known as the EASTERN REGION, i know the message the OP was trying to convey! He was trying to highlight ethnicities of similar culture and values!
I love his submission! The day these peoples overcome the divide-and-rule antics of the hateful and cunning bastards that have overseen the destruction of a once promising country, that will be the day of their emancipation!
All hail Biafra (of the mind at least, that is if you don't believe in secession)!
Thank you! I've been a victim of the divide and rule tactics. No more. We honestly need to read history, come together and do what is best for ourselves. I love my people does not mean i hate others.
tommy589: Read Bernard odogwu, 'no place to hide'to start with. He was the head of Biafran intelligence
I wish no tribe to leave Nigeria until they repair it the way it was in 1960
Thank you. Unfortunately, its not available on Amazon/Kindle. Will endeavour to buy and read it though. For now, what notable points can you share on here? Also, how do you propose we restore it to its pre-1960 days? Correct me if i'm wrong, but was that essentially, 3 regions? This is showing itself in a different form today i.e. Arewa, Biafra, Oodua.
Again, if majority wants to, then so be it. Please try not to flood this thread with copy and pastes. I honestly just want to connect with like minded people and discuss something meaningful.
If the Ijaws want out, i'm fine with this. One thing is for sure though, individually, we'll find it difficult to fight the gang in Abuja and the British. We must stand together here, form a formidable force and then we can speak with our people with reason once we achieve our initial goals.
If you honestly don't see reason in the above, then i seriously doubt that you want the best for the people of the region.
If it is will of the Ijaw majority, then that is totally fine. All the best. We will live in peace, side by side.
I don't want us to fight amongst ourselves. WE will choose how we want to live, ourselves, without external influences. This is essentially what i'm trying to say @Ijoh. You are not my enemy and i am not yours. For now, we do need to stand and present a united front, if we are truly to achieve anything. Do you understand where i am coming from?
Parachoko: The Eastern Region was a creation of the British, the time of the Eastern region don end a long time ago
Move on man.
I use the term "Eastern region" because it is what is easily recognizable by the people. It is a combination of a people with similar cultures and identities that lived together and coexisted for centuries. I trust that the people know what I mean.
Please, for once, let's be civil in our discourse with one another. Mods, my intent is not to discriminate or be tribal. I just want to have a discussion.
Firstly, I'm still in the first few pages of Federick Forsyth "The Biafran Nation", a piece written by a neutral ( A Brit) who experienced the war and I would like to share a few bits with you all.
1) My people of the former Eastern region, we might not all speak the same exact language in our region, but we are more alike than we have been made to believe. Please, let us not continue to water the seeds of division between our people.
Why have we let others come in our midst to sow seeds of division. My brother's, my sisters. Please! Let's stop our collective suffering and understand that for centuries, our region had lived together and naturally, we know one another.
From Ibibio to Anang, from Igbo to Efik, from Itsekiri to Idoma, from Uhrobo to Ogoni, from Izon to Isoko, from Itsekiri to Ikwerre, please wake up!
By calling for our unity, I'm by no means calling for the hating of the West or the north. I would like to respect their Sovereignty. I'm simply trying to help my generation fix the mistakes of the past.
All hail the people of our great regions. All hail Biafra!
gidgiddy: You are a poor student of Nigerian history and I don't blame you because they dont want people like you to know the truth so you can continue in ignorance. You said that Ojukwus grouse with Gowon was seniority. Lets assume you're right, is that grouse not legitimate? Which military officer wants to serve under his Junior? The military Governor of the Western Region, Colonel Adebayo, and his counterpart in the Midwest Region, Lt Col Ejoor, as well as Ojukwu, were all senior to Gowon. Yet Gowon assumed power just because he is a Northerner. That bowing down to the North is what Ojukwu hated, and it is still what a lot of Igbos hate to this day. This preferential treatment of Northerners, compared to th rest of Nigeria is very bad. Nobody is slave to another
However, Ojukwu still took the risk of going to Aburi in the interest of peace. At Aburi, an agreement was reached. Who broke the agreement? Gowon and his Northern cohorts. It was the breaking of the Aburi agreement that directly led to war and the blame is with Gowon.
It was in recognition that the war was not Ojukwus fault that Shagari granted Ojukwu pardon.
Why did Uwazurike and Nnamdi Kanu start their agitation? The same Nigeria characterised by injustice still exists. The same injustice perpetrated by Gowon and his Northern cohorts that made Ojukwu declare Biafra.
Self determination is recognised by international and domestic law, and no law bars anyone, be it Uwazurike or Nnamdi Kanu, from agitating for Biafra
Uwazurike was agitating for Biafra with MASSOB peacefully, they invaded his house, killed many people, and locked him up for years without trial
Sunday Igboho was agitating for Oduduwa Republic peacefully, they invaded his house, killed people, and he is locked up today in another country
In 2017, despite the fact that IPOB was unarmed, peaceful and touched nobody, the Nigerian Army invaded Nnamdi Kanu's house, killed people, declared IPOB a terrorist group , and Nnamdi Kanu is today locked up
Why is the Nigerian government using unnecessary force with peaceful movements? Then they cry when the movement turns violent? Every peaceful agitation, the government will bring violence into it.
They did it with ENDSARS
They did it with MASSOB
The did it with IPOB
They did it with Oduduwa Nation
They did it to IMN
They even did it with Boko haram
Rather than engage a group that is peaceful, the government will send in the security forces to kill them. Then when the group pick up arms, the same government that made then pick up arms will start crying terrorism.
Biafra agitation today exists for the same reason it existed in 1967, a Nigerian state characterised by injustice and under the control of the North
Where there is injustice, there is never peace
Those who make peaceful agitation impossible, will make violent agitation inevitable~ JFK
This summary could have been written by me. Oh brothers and sisters, Biafra will be great! I cannot wait to be around my people, in my country. All hail Biafra! Chukwu gozie gi nwanne maka eziokwu I kwuru.
Wilson212: I am Igbo but the people leading and sharing most of hate speech in all social media in Nigeria is we Igbo .The ijaw that lost election have moved on but my people don't want to move on
colorsofrainbow: Igbo presidency is looking more realistic hence the grunts from Tinubu pigs upandan nairaland these days They can't bear the pain of watching an Igbo man be their Commander-in-Chief The tears never start. Make una just reserve am. Jonathan was soft on you guys. I won't take more
Didn't they run to the USA to lobby and cry that Jonathan was avenging the crimes against the Biafrans? Guilty conscience kee them.
slimfit1: I am not a Biafran, but the puzzle that the Europeans put together is wrong. We should not have been together for any reason. We will remain neighbours during and after Nigeria. By the way, yoruba say the ship that ran backwards went to get power. If the Biafran people can go underground like this it will be nice. You don't need to demonstrate anything to anyone. Your enemies are much confused when they don't know what you have and are up to.
I hear you. Alliances under the idea of pan-africanism can be made. This is a win-win. I like the fact that our foes believe that the Biafran struggle for freedom is over. Nigeria has shown its hand. Time will tell!
tungamaje: Just change the title to Bandits kill village head and five others in the east and vooom, the thread would catch fire. A lot of Igbo lovers would swarm here to cry over how Igbos are killing themselves. But this particular incident in Katsina isn't really important, Igbos are
Lol unu amaghi Ohamadike. Biafra will come. It's inevitable. Our brother NK has become a true champion and freedom fighter in the hearts of millions. When the film Starr, we go all watch am.
Jammey6551: If elected Tinubu will be worse than Buhari, he can't even remember the name of the country he is ruling. Youths don't make the mistake by voting for your grandpas, most grandpa have acute dementia.
Amen!
Nahhhhh.. make una vote am! I want to see something!
