Politics › Re: Igbos On Nairaland Should Come Here And See...(photos) by CBR100: 5:35pm On Mar 21, 2023 |
Occurstaem: I first stumbled upon Nairaland in early 2007. I was impressed by the number of helpful threads ranging from career to health to business to family and education. Then, the politics section have not been reduced to conspicuous tribalism but there were some subtle jabs at one another tribe mostly targeted at the Yorubas and the Northerners - especially at the Hausa and Fulani because there is no tribe known as Northerners but it was obvious the two tribes from the north were targeted.
Tribalism gained much foothold after the 2011 elections towards the Yorubas while the owner of this forum looked the other way. Then after the 2015 elections, the tribalism volcanoes erupted. Those who have been at the receiving end of tribalists and tribalism before on this forum started returning the favour back to the senders who were its initiator originally.
They started matching those tribalists fire for fire, words for words, abuses for even more abuses. Those who started tribalism on this forum have successfully turned their once victims who were at the receiving ends of their vitriols before to tribalists.
Take a critical look at this thread below objectively. https://www.nairaland.com/745731/yoruba-marginalization-elders-met-jonathan
Northerners don't know how to dominate before. But those people taught the Northerners how to dominate and become powermongers after the first military coup.
And now, Yorubas that don't know how to hate before. Those people have successfully taught the Yorubas how to hate. Omo just went through dat thread , igbo ppl don show us shege , even shege banza ......and dey are still finding it hard to believe why we voted against GEJ (a man dat has moved on while dey are still crying for him) Igbo presidency nepotism go worst pass buhari own × 10 ......eeh See how as den dey mock southwest ,if not for sale of national unity, BAT somehow pay den back in their own coin |

I don't need to travel b4 I know dat south africa have beta infrastructure and manufacturing capacity than nigeria Same with SW and SE..... I am not your mate.
This is a market that one customer can buy goods worth 600 millions in one shop at instance. Lol....a statistic dat says 40% of transactions are not official, same report is claiming a specific amount ($3bn).....and no other source dat back such claims....... Onyiridike: You are daft. The idiot I quoted claimed that nobody will patronise Igbos if they take their business to the east and I reminded him how crankshaft he is. Talking about literacy, you will only pray and wish to get to my level. Ivory Coast and Cameroon patronise Aba and Onitsha more than some states in Nigeria. U still dey vex, dat is why u can't see clearly .....the truth be say Igbo are essentially traders.....taking your business back to east is technically impossible.....and unna business is not really generating much for sw... Agriculture, mineral resource, forestry, manufacturing, CofO/land tax, civil servant salary dat is where bulk of the igr comes from How much do you think and average car part market can give to the government ......dey are negligible.....not to talk of used electronics or okirika dat u ppl dominate |

The only thing dey achieve is weaking the main opposition Election wey pdp suppose win by over 5 million votes Imagine tinubu lost (lagos and osun state to PDP.....and atiku come win SS,SE and also slightly winning NC, not forgetting he won't Kaduna , with kwankwasoo taking over kano)

DanielPat01: Had it been you been you added proof to all this things you mentioned it would have made sense.
Intellects argue with proof not wishful and hopeful thinking born out of cheap rumours.
Your subtle blathers won't be believed by me until quality evidence are provided. But the most important to me will be address though.
From what you wrote most of your "success" or should I say "Achievements" can be attributed to Lagos State which I counted out from the very begining being that it was the nations capital for atleast 70 yrs compared to Abuja of just 31 yrs.
Like is there any real functional port with huge activities going on it aside Lagos? Non actually. Most are still very much under construction.
And talking about ports, it the sole duty of the FG to build solid ports where necessary as it usually considered Federal prohect but what have the Buhari done In the East.
The only obvious thing he (Buhari) did in the East was to build the second Niger bridge in a sub-standard way with lack of aesthetic, neglecting and cutting off the initial wide lane plus railway corridor projected for it but went on to build and complete the Lagos-Ibadan railway plus Abuja-Kaduna railway.
Even the South East railway project was ended by the Federal Government. I ain't talking shit. Go and verify (Google). We are all observing.
The government of Buhari and Goodluck paid more attention to the west and North than the SS and SE if not you all won't be capping shit.
Lastly, saying South-west is bigger than the East in all ramification is a big insult and a statement uttered out of ignorance. Come on! Really bro? 😕
In terms of the poverty index you actually mentioned you actually made a fool of yourself there. 😆 You went reading outdated blogs... 😂
Dude the status quo changed late last year. Here is an official post by The Cable index that actually hit the Front Page (FP) on Nairaland.
The South-East is the least poorest state in Nigeria currently overtaking both the South South and the South West 😁
Kindly Verify to gain current knowledge. https://www.nairaland.com/7444949/number-poor-people-nigeria-geo
When it comes to education; the South-East have the least proportion of out of school children.
Anambra my state is the state with the least number of out of school children. It's just a matter of time before the South-East reclaim there position as the most educated tribe and region in Nigeria just like it was before the advent of the devastating civil war.
Here is proof of what I'm saying (Satisense official stat)
Note: this post also made FP on Nairaland. https://www.nairaland.com/7453717/list-states-lowest-number-out
Only the ignorant would rule Igbos out completely in various growth category. I think Igbos have proven themselves in every sphere of life not to be underrated/underestimated.
Now before you quote me again make sure you have your stats right and your proof a quality one and intact. Peace buroda mi. 🙂❣️ weda na fg or foreign investor or Igbo developer, wat matters is dat it is in southwest and it will added to sw gdp.....just lyk dangote refineries you ppl don't have port , neither do you ppl have railway, nor metro station our economic capital Lagos economy is bigger than the economy of Ghana as whole (so if southwest is a country our economy is far bigger than DAT of Ghana) we pass unna by all means abi we no pass unna for agriculture ?? manufacturing nk0 ?? |

Besides that is just side. A satellite view will show you it an urbanized city. Onitsha is a Metropolis in the making (fact).
If Anambra should were to be Nigeria's capital trust me it's where you would want to be (Best weather, with little effect of harmattan).
When it comes to economy just forget it. You can't rule the South East put in that aspect. The revenue alone from Onitsha main market (one of the largest in Africa) let alone other big markets speaks volumes. u ppl always talk about market (because igbo ar essentially traders) look southwest is bigger than southeast in all ramification let talk about infrasture (we are beta both in quality and in quantity) from functioning port to functioning railway, to beta quality roads and even quantity in term of education we have beta private and public universities (both quality and quantity) in term of agriculture and forestry we beat you ppl handdown in term of manufacturing we also beat you ppl handdown, in fact a single state in southwest has more industry than the entire Southeast in term of earning foreign exchange through export we beat you ppl handdown (abi wetin unna dey export , we have cashew, cocoa, hardwood etc ) in fact animal husbandry u ppl rely on us for unna poultry need there are more cars in southwest than the rest of nigeria combine in term of security we still beat you ppl handdown in term of poverty index we have the least poverty, every research always says so....and you ppl are note even second (because ss always come second) |

An Igbo man might brag with his money but never with the beauty of his hometown.
Go and ask your elders even when Obasanjo reached Anambra state, I think Onitsha he shouted. He was like; is here they fought they Biafran war or somewhere else.
Even a Taraba neighbor of mine here in Abuja that went there was shouting. That how come we don't talk about this... Bla bla bla
Here is a link to some blogs... Although the first is not that accurate. Make sure you visit the links so you will be informed properly.

Then here is the main keyword on Google. https://www.google.com/search?q=most+developed+state+in+Nigeria
But dude aside Abuja and Lagos you can never compare any state in terms of development to South East and South-South states. SE & SS especially SE top the list.
it is only ignorance that would make people say Peter Obi Anambra state is like shit yet he wants to rule Nigeria. While in reality there is no state that aside ABJ and LAG that that is as developes as Anambra.

Those who condemned Peter Obi back then, are those who haven't started seeing the effect of his works but when the realized his good deeds the failed to correct their past mistake.
My family was one of the people that condemned him after his first tenure due to some roads he left unattended.
But after we saw his good deeds and the roads attended to we went to correct our mistake and also went all out to vote for him.

Like if you ask anyone in Nigeria they would gladly tell you the Yorubas are the most educated tribe in Nigeria followed by the Igbos the comes other tribes.
But No this elections says different, infact it says alot.
There is a quote my late grandpa always drop, he would say it in Igbo and also say it in Pidgin English and main English yet I never understood it clearly until recently.
He said and I quote; "Na nwamú gara akwúkwo aburó na oma ifé"
"My Pikin go school no mean say E get sense."
"That my child is educated doesn't mean he is sensible"
The Yorubas have proven without doubt that they are overhyped.
I was speaking to a Yoruba friend of mine from Ekiti state few days ago, who was is a core supporter of Peter Obi. His compound is just a stone throw from mine..
He said to me that he is ashamed of his people, that he thought for once they would get it right. Especially people from his state. That the worse is the tribal shade on the Labour Party candidate a Lagosian because he is married to an Igbo woman.
I couldn't help but agree with him. From my experience majority of yorubas, I mean 70% are Tribalistic and brutal in tribalism/trabalistic approach.. I just pray this doesn't lead into a a tribal war somehow.
If not it's is finished (The End of Nigeria). okay we are not sensible because we fail to vote obi, a 8years governor without legacy projects if you ar to rate obi among the governors dat have rules southwest since 1999.....am sure obi will not enta top 10 tinubu, fashola, sanwolu, ambode, mimiko, agagu, aregbesola, fayemi , fayose, makinde forget it obi is a failure (wat his anambra ppl said about him, is still on nairaland ) |

Alusiizizi: Really? Sure looks like domination to me, especially considering that Igbo people are a definite minority in every single one of these Yoruba states.
You are definitely wrong in this. Open your eyes and look around, notice that apart from selling pepper and garri in the market the Igbos dominate in virtually all economic endeavors.
Precisely my point regarding Shop-Rite, Jumia, Walmart and such. There is no way that those huge enterprises, who have to spend untold millions just to keep their structure from collapsing can compete with that stand-alone Igbo merchant.
Actually you are correct in this but you left something out, Yoruba have indeed started venturing into some of those businesses with the help of Igbo businessmen. I cannot count how many times that I have seen a Yoruba boy serving as apprentice at an Igbo mans office, a position that used to be reserved not only for Igbo boys but boys that are related to the man. Indeed most of these Yoruba that you refere to have gainful connection/history with Igbo men, so you see, my point still stands, the only solution is for both tribes to co-operate for mutual benefit. I laugh, for your mind now everything about southwest revolves round the igbo u don't know anything, Igbo business all in all, is still in the minority even same with the Hausa |
