I've just come to realize that some of we Nigerians don't seem to value what we have. We always point accusing fingers and blame others for our frustrations and failures just in a bid to relieve ourselves. Look I'm never of the opinion that our politicians are the reason why we are where we are in this country today, and NEVER will be! The mere thought that some people accuse these poor leaders of failing them beats me. I mean this are our very own, we keep selling them poorly to the international community to mock them. We portray them as being thieves and evil just to feel good and yet we still everyday. We quickly forget the sacrifices and price these people pay to rule us. Some of them even risk their health and private life just to serve us and yet all we do is insult them and accuse them of stealing our money even when we ourselves(not all though) dupe people daily. When will we start taking up responsibilities for ourselves and let these poor politicians be? When will we start seeing all the good they are doing for us? As a matter of fact, some of us even critizing them if given the chance to lead will fail woefully. A few days ago, I was in tears after reading about how a politician confessed to almost having HBP whenever he sees the insults that his fellow nigerians hurl at him daily online. C'mon people, that's so low. Let's stop this rubbish. Just incase you have ever insulted a politician it's time you apologize and turn a new leave. Let's defend our own please. ## Let's hear from you, and this time no insults on anyone please..

This might sound strange in this present generation of ours but the fact is I have never wooed a girl. I am 27, all the girls I have been with either showed signs that they liked me and I capitalized on that or it just happened by chance. Right now I have no one and I have been thinking of approaching a certain girl for a serious relationship but the thought of walking up to her sends shiver down my spine. Mind you I am funny and outgoing. Still schooling though, in my final year. I don't have much money to play any trick on her lol. So guys how did you woo your girl? What did you tell her and to the ladies, how did your guy woo you? I am pretty sure I am not the only guy in this predicament so sharing your experience will be of help to a lot of guys. |

Who was sarah baartman? Saartjie (Sara) Baartman was one of the first black women known to be subjugated to human sexual trafficking. She was derisively named the “Hottentot Venus” by Europeans as her body would be publicly examined and exposed inhumanly throughout the duration of her young life. Moreover. her experience reinforced the already existing and extremely negative sexual fascination with African women bodies by the people of Europe. Sara Baartman was born in 1789 at the Gamtoos River, now known as the Eastern Cape in South Africa. Baartman and her family were members of the Gonaquasub group of the Khoikhoi. Baartman grew up on a colonial farm where she and her family most likely worked as servants. Her mother died when she was aged two and her father, who was a cattle driver, died when she was still a young girl. By her teenage years Baartman married a Khoikhoi man who was a drummer. They had a child together who died shortly after birth. When Baartman was sixteen, her husband was murdered by Dutch colonists. Soon after, she was sold into slavery to a trader named Pieter Willem Cezar, who took her to Cape Town where she became a domestic slave to his brother, Hendrik. On October 29, 1810, although she could not read, 21-year-old Baartman supposedly signed a contract with William Dunlop, a physician, who was a friend of the Cezar brothers. This contract required her to travel with the Cezar brothers and Dunlop to England and Ireland where she would work as a domestic servant since technically slavery had been abolished in Great Britain. Additionally, she would be exhibited for entertainment purposes. Baartman would receive a portion of earnings from her exhibitions and would be allowed to return to South Africa after five years. However, the contract was false on all details and her enslavement continued for the remainder of her life. Baartman was first exhibited in London in the Egyptian Hall at Piccadilly Circus on November 24, 1810. Her public treatment, however, quickly drew the attention of British abolitionists who charged Dunlop and the Cezars with holding Baartman against her will. The court ruled against Baartman after Pieter Cezar produced the contract that had been signed by Baartman. Baartman also testified that she was not being mistreated. The publicity generated by the court trial increased Baartman’s popularity as an exhibit. She was taken on tours throughout England and by 1812 as far away as Limerick, Ireland. In September 1814, after staying four years in Great Britain, Baartman was taken to France and sold to S. Reaux, an exhibitor who showcased animals. He put Baartman on public display in and around Paris, often at the Palais Royal. He also allowed her to be sexually abused by patrons willing to pay for her defilement. Reaux garnered considerable profit due to the public’s fascination with Baartman’s body. Sara Saartjie Baartman died in Paris on December 29, 1815 at the age of 26. It is speculated that she died of tuberculosis or syphilis. Even after her death, many of her body parts would go on display at the Musée de l’Homme (Museum of Man), in Paris to support racist theories about people of African ancestry. Some of the body parts remained on display until 1974. In 1994 South African President Nelson Mandela formally requested that Baartman’s remains be returned to South Africa. On March 6, 2002, her remains were returned and buried at Hankey in the Eastern Cape Province. Kindly upvote this so that lots of people can see it. (Sara) Saartjie Baartman (1789-1815) •

UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION: FGGC Langtang security guard pimps schoolgirls for N5,000 With N5,000, or even less, one of the security guards employed to protect students at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Langtang, Plateau state, would gladly love-vendor the girls to strangers. Speaking to TheCable’s undercover reporter, the guard gave an insight into how he organises “runs” for the teenagers for a fee, and how this is a common practice. This investigation by FEMI OWOLABI and SEYI AWOJULUGBE also exposes the rot in the once-prestigious Unity School, where students use water from an untreated well, sleep on broken beds, study in hostile classrooms — and live practically unprotected from predators. The reporter had disguised as a visiting businessman in need of girls to spend “a nice time” with. He promised to pay the guard more than what he would ask for. All the “big man” needed was a guarantee of a swell time. The excited guard called endlessly, excessively delighted with the business at hand. TheCable ran into a little bad luck along the way — the timing of the visit coincided with when the SS3 girls were writing their exams in July 2022, and other classes were on vacation. But, not to worry, the guard was ready to pull the strings all the same. Settling over a plate of rice ordered for him at the guest house, the guard told his would-be customer that girls in SS3 who were rounding off their final exams would make the perfect picks. " i am giving you outgoing students,” he said, his face loosening into a smile. “There are some writing exams, it’s just to get a clue to know them and ask if they can do this for me. There are girls who do ‘runs’ but the issue is money.” The guard, who was quick to request for money so he could move round and also “sort out” the girls’ transportation, revealed that there are a couple of schoolgirls who are into the act of sneaking out of the school premises. “You’ll discuss how much you’ll give them,” he said, pocketing the N5,000 the reporter had given him as upfront for the task. “All those girls are small girls and they don’t know money much. If you treat them well, they will look for you if you’re still around.” The guard had left his duty post. For hours, he was moving round the school, searching for girls who could be available under the tight deadline. “I have arranged two girls now, and they will come to meet you when they are done with their exams today,” he would later say on phone.
