I think I just received a ghost update on my online account. After two weeks of medical request and medical passed, I just logged in now and saw "application/profile updated". But when I opened to view full details, I didn't see any updates. Nothing has changed.

Any ideas what's going on? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Please guys..got a message from vfs yesterday for passport dispatch applied on the 17 of April asked to go for medicals on the 8 of may passed 16. Sent a case specific email to CIC on the 20th of June
Yesterday, i was sent a dispatch mail from vfs global and vfs Lagos to go pick up my passport...no confirmation email at all till now. Please I'm really confused right now. Who has this happened to and eventually got an approval. Please old and new monikers help a Sister I'm not understanding...how can I also apply for courier as I'm not in Lagos currently.

It looks like an approval to me since you were requested to do medicals, link your application online and check the status.... as for the courier, if you're in abuja, go to vfs abuja and request courier, they will tell you what to do if not contact vfs lagos through their website and tell them what you want. No one knows the steps, as you said it should be biometrics first but you can't tell. The main thing is approval, so put up a strong and sincere application then back it up with prayers.

My profile:

In 2013 after working in different Nigerian banks spanning over 10 years, I became frustrated and need a better life for my family. At close to 40 years old, I decided to leave my banking work and pursue Masters degree abroad. Yes, you are right, if you think that I am crazy because so many people thought I was then. However, as I said, I need a better life for my family.

Previously, I had an undergraduate degree in sciences from Nigeria with second class (2:2). In 2013, I applied to 4 universities in Canada and I was rejected in all the universities because of low GPA. A Program Administrator in one of the universities told not to waste my fund applying to universities because of my low GPA but I should focus on my job. I was depressed for a while but I decided to pick myself up and move ahead.

In 2014, I took both GRE and TOEFL and applied to 5 universities in USA. Again, I got rejection letter from all 5 universities. I was depressed but I picked myself up and moved ahead the second time. I applied to another set of 4 universities in USA and to the glory of God, I got accepted into all 4 universities. Fortunately and as God will have it, I got full tuition waiver and stipends in one of the universities. In 2015, my wife and I applied for F2 and F1 visa (US study visas) which was approved together by the grace of God. Please note, this is the same guy with low GPA and 9 rejection letter.

Fast forward to 2017, toward the end of my Masters program, I applied for PhD programs in both USA and Canada. Although, I had a few rejection letters from my PhD applicants but I got admitted into 4 top universities, 2 in USA and 2 in Canada. To crown this testimony, all the universities were funded with very generous stipends which are adequate to take care on my family living expenses.

Today June 15th 2018, both my wife open work permit and my study permit were approved after 3 weeks of application (since we are applying from US).

Lesson to learnt:

1) Never lose hope. Miracles do happens. Always believe.

2) Never let your past define your future. Your past is gone and you don't have control over it again, however, your future is still ahead and you can control it. Therefore, focus on what you can control.

3) Never let anything or anyone stop you from achieving your dream. Obstacles are part of life, nobody, low or bad GPA should not stop you . When you fall, please stand up, dust yourself, reload and move forward. Quitters never win and Winners never lose.

4) Never let age put a limit on your dream. I started my masters degree at the age of 40 years and 16 years after having my BSc degree. Now, I have master degree from a reputable university and should complete my PhD degree in next few years. You can always achieve your dream at any age if you are resilient and persistent.

5) Follow your dream no matter the challenges. Redirect your steps if one is not working and keep pushing forward.

6) Above all, HOLD ON TO GOD AND KEEP BELIEVING IN HIS AMAZING POWER, GRACE AND MERCY. His is a miracle working God and He will always come through for you.

I do hope that I am able to encourage myself with my abridged testimony.

Check all the schools that have related courses she needs, MPH can be really competitive so apply early, when she gets admission then planning for visa is next.

Once you do the medical you don't need to notify CIC, the approved centre will send to CIC within 3 working days. You will see the update on your CIC account. All the very best.

Okay, just to clarify what I said, @Phocusjosh is right, all i meant is there is no harm sending the slip/paper given to you after you've done medicals. If there was no slip/paper theres no problem, CIC will get it.

Okay, I will advise you to go there with the CIC medical request, your upfront medical payment receipt, medical slip and additional cash. I can vividly remember during my medical at children practice Ikoyi, where the receptionist stated that those who came for upfront medical might be requested again for medical; its a 50/50 thing though, and if this occurs, applicant would be advised to pay half of the full payment.

I have done that, they told me that part of client confidentiality, they don't keep records, thay submit it all, so after waiting for 2 weeks, if it still shows that i need medicals, then I will have to do it again. I also heard that of children's practice, they just redocument and send.

I got a medical request - paper route, PhD MUN, no upfront medical. Once I do the medical, do I still need to notify CIC via email that this has been done If no, how long does this take for CIC to update my account after the medical? Otherwise, if I have to notify, what CIC email account can I use? Currently, background check and eligibility is under review.

From what I have seen so far, If you are given a slip/paper after the medicals, scan and send to their email. I did upfront but they still requested medicals from me, so i have sent over a dozen emails to them with the e medical slip I submitted during the application, still hoping for a response soon.

Hello can I ask you something, okay how much funds do you have available to you in your account.... not in sponsors account but yours.... your family seems large... I would advice you go first let them be your home ties but since you want to take them all, money is key, not in your sponsors name but in yours... goodluck, think deeply about it

Did you request for your GCMS note, it will help understand the true reason for refusal....

Is that possible? I thought its supposed to be treated as a family application. The feedback that people on this forum based on their GCSM notes always indicate so, I stand to be corrected though.

To be sure when applying online did it state that you can add a member of your family or the application is different... if different I may be correct, if applying with your family I advise paper route, they put the applicatioin in one bag at least... please others that submitted family applications through online route should speak up let's know... thank you

i am thinking of uploading one SOA to the medical form area and stating it in Proof of fund doc that its due to space constraint I did that. so that they can look it up from there. smiley tongue


Over shrinking the docs makes it unreadable. so isn't this a better option.

I don't think you should do that, instead merge with proof of funds and client information... 8 mb should be enough abi.... You can share it between them both till it's complete.

That's quite unfortunate. Try shootung CIC an email. If it does not work, you may have to consider redoing the medicals. Don't be disheartened by the unanticipated additional costs. With a medical request from CIC, your chances of approval is already 90+%.

That's the thing, waiting 2 weeks, by 23rd June if I don't hear anything I will redo it.... thanks alot

Just mention that she's married year and all, when she applies for medicals the time of pregnancy will show. Saying that you're newly married shows that you can get pregnant anytime

Please I have a quick question. A friend of mine got admission to study in Canada for a PhD degree so she will be applying for my TRV next month by the Grace of God. The thing is she just found out that she's pregnant. Is this an issue? She applied for the position last year but got married early this year. Please is this an issue? Should she inform her advisor? she does not want to loose out on the admission because she received funding. Please gurus in the house, any other opinion?

Theres no problem, she just has to show enough funds to take care of herself and the baby in canada. In this case I think her husband can apply for spousal work permit with her to assist in taking care of the baby. Good financial backing and a strong SOP can clarify everything.
