likeababygirl,

Thank you so much for the repsonse.
if I have to reapply, can I do that alone and have my kids join me up later? How soon can i have them join me later.

Secondly, I applied for 2 programs at the school and i was admitted for both but 1 came earlier than the other ( the MA Economics is for 2 years while the MA Int'l Accounting is for a year). I applied to CIC with the MA Economics which arrived first . if I want to reapply, can I apply with the MA Int'l Accounting? . I have a Bsc in Economics and also a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years experience. My objective is to improve myself with a foreing masters program to support my vision of setting up a consulting firm in Nigeria.

i will appreciate a feedback as quickly as possible since the MA Int'l Accounting can be deferred to January session while the MA Economics will only jave another session next year Sept if I miss this year.

Thanks once again and thank you to all too.
if your aim is for your children to join you, then it means you want to stay there, since thats the case, do the ma economics. since its next year, start preparing for a way your children will join, you have time to plan, no rush. besides the course you chose seems to relate with your previous course, so its better. hope this helps

It is possible to get citizenship when you immigrate through student route after 4 or 5 years rather than 10 years in Canada. This is the calculation:

For someone going for 1 year course , such person will be eligible to apply for 1 year PGWP after his/her study and in some province like Manitoba and Saskatchewan, such person can even be eligible to apply for permanent residency after getting at least 6 months work experience. After additional 2 years (plus the first study year and PGWP) making 4 years, one is qualified to apply for citizenship.

https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/moving-to-saskatchewan/immigrating-to-saskatchewan/saskatchewan-immigrant-nominee-program/applicants-with-saskatchewan-experience/students

http://www.immigratemanitoba.com/immigrate-to-manitoba/swm/swm-eligiblity/
yep, you said it, it depends on province. i heard manitoba looks for people alot because their place is like the coldest in canada, even the main canadian citizens run away from that place. i dont know about saskatchewan sha.

i guess this should relate more to an international student on 4yrs under graduate studies right?
i think its for all international students whether undergrad, postgrad, masters, doctorate, you get to apply for permanent residency after 2 years of full time work in canada(not as a student). its when you get your PR that you start to do those calculations for 4 years and apply for citizenship. some people apply for PR even after working for over 4 years, but citizenship starts to count after you get PR.

Dammi, gracias..... I had to go to readup the link you posted. So now we know the 10yrs residency to gain citizenship is not applicable to Canada, but its a normal thing i learnt donkey years ago back in primary abi secondary sch, lol.

But eh, what dos this mean "To become a Canadian citizen after gaining PR status, you have to have spent 1,460 days during the six years right before the date you sign your application and 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply. ..... Cuz I am lost. Pls Explain what they mean by that.

Thanks.
i think it means that you must stay in canada as a permanent resident for at least 1,460 days during the six years, so also understand that in a year you must have spent at least 183 days, not the one that someone will do one year out one year in as long as it is 1460 days. so basically they want to see you every year for at least 183 days but it must be 1460 days before you apply for citizenship

Hey Boss,

Thank you for this. I never went through CIC website to know about this but just to buttress on what I wrote earlier, there r certain criteria to fulfil to gain citizenship. Its is not an automatic thing to gain citizenship immediately after studies in Canada.

My assumptions where based on social studies background knowledge of gaining citizenship in country, that the fellow must reside up to 10yrs. I think it still holds in some countries.
the both of you are correct, you know, you studied for 2 years, worked for at least two years, apply and get permanent residency 1 year, then stayed in the country 4 years out of 6, apply and get citizenship the final 1 year of naturalization process. i think all these sum up to be 10 years. thats my calculation tho

Please my flight is by 6:25 AM, I can't meet up by that time from lekki

Anyone knows a reasonably cheap hotel around the airport?
i think you should stay in a hotel close to the airport, lagos is somehow, you can never tell, no matter how long it takes, you will reach the airport on time. about the money, not sounding rich but considering you are travelling to canada, spending 15k or less wouldn't really matter at least you will be comfortable and less stressed. its worse if you miss your flight.

Hello,

Is IELTS or TOEFI still important for Masters in Canada since Nigeria is an English speaking country?...

I Planned to apply for M. ENG at University of Ottawa winter 2019(January) ...
Planning on starting the process early next year...

I graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka with 2.1(3.70) in Industrial technical education (specialisation in Electrical /Electronic)
good morning, check the schools website, some have waiver for nigerians, while some say its compulsory, but either ways i think you need it, especially if you may want to work in canada or any other country.

Hello my elders and gurus in the house, pls a friend needs clarification on this, he got his visa 2yrs ago without declaring he was denied US visa which was an oversight. He intends to apply for post graduate work permit in few months. He want to know whether declaring previous US refusal now won't have negative effect on the PGWP success.

Thanks
canadian visa 2 years ago seemed easier than now, so i would advise he mentions it, to avoid problems

The program you intend going for will determine the school to attend, try and use Google to narrow your search. As for your US denials it won't affect your Canada application, but make sure you make it known to the vo when filling your form and writing your sop (also state the reasons you were denied and how you have tackled it in your Canada visa application). Best of luck
Please is there any space on the form to give reasons for denial.

good evening guys. i tried to read the thread but i ended up being more confused than i was initially, Please i am so new to this and i really dunno what to do or how to start. i intend on studying MBA in canada (because i intend to stay back and work, and i feel MBA will increase my chances of getting a good paying job) but the issues now is when i tried to google schools their tuition is something else with little or no say on funding international students. But i know there are reputable schools out there that i can apply to with my little $20,000 (canadian dollars) and probably also get a waiver on my tuition. But i just don't know how to go about it. I graduated with a 2.1 in Economics. please i just need someone to be my guide and enlighten me on schools i should apply for, what exams i need to take, how to apply quick for scholarships/funding and getting a visa.like which one comes first AND is it possible for me to start the processing/ exams and still make it for the resumption in January or so. pleaseeeeeeeee i need help... please
hello, good morning, i would advise you take your time and prepare all you need, try checking out for schools that will open september 2018. write all exams, save money, get sponsors, and equip yourself with some professional courses so that you can stand out for both admission and visa. there is no rush in life.

I paid for both schools. Ill be attending one, but will defer the other and get refunded when i get there. So which one shd i tender at the POE?
just stick to the one you used for application, when you get your visa and travel, you can defer one, thats after you pass through the immigration at canada.

Morning everyone...pls i have a Q. I applied go 2 colleges Humber and NBCC. I got admission into both schools. But i used my humber adm letter to apply. At the POE, can i show any of the two letters to the Immigration officers? Or it has to be the one i applied with? undecided
good morning, i dont think so because i assume you have already paid tuition for one of them thats why you used it for your application or did you pay for the both schools.

Hello,

I actually got to know this thread since last year, but I was a silent observer. I finally tried to post comments and ask questions around may before my application for trv but couldn't, due to login issues. I had to apply like that when I couldn't ask my questions and fortunately with a little help from friends and great help from God my trv was approved. I don't know if I count among the monikers you spoke of in the above comment, but these are my details.

University of British Columbia- applied December 7th 2016, admission march 30th 2017, Trv applications paper route with upfront medicals- may 26th 2017, approved July 7th.

This thread really helped a lot and gave me hope through it all, especially that motto "it shall end in praise, I kept declaring it. I really wish everyone the best and I pray that God turns all tears to great jubilation and laughter.
hello please did you write GRE for the masters programme

Good day house.

This is my first post here, I have tried to read through earlier pages of this thread, you'll have been doing a great job here.

I need clarification to ascertain if I can apply for EE. Below is my profile:

I am 29 years old and single

I recently got study permit for a two years master's program (Control Systems) at University of Alberta in Canada to commence 5th of September 2017.

I am currently working in a multinational manufacturing company here in Nigeria and recently got an outstanding appraisal report that sees my pay upto NGN 550K monthly.

I have four years experience in the field of Control Systems (Automation Engineer and Instrumentation Engineer in two household name multinational firms).

If I go for the masters I would sponsor myself, and the cost is quite high. But with a PR the cost would drastically reduce.

Now the questions:

Is it possible to start the application for EE entry while I am already in Canada? (As I plan to get my transcript sent to WES before leaving for the masters program)

would you advise based on the experience of those already in Canada, I quit my job for the masters with the hope of securing a PR and good job over there?........CC @Mazuide,Austinpee4,Osemigho, Just wise and the full house. Please my friend needs advice on this.actually he posted it on EE thread. I brought it here for advice
hey, please i would like to ask you questions about university of alberta, please can you send me your email address so that i can talk to you from there. thank you
