dis is so so true. still a clear pointer 2 d fact dat my very own naija has some persons as 2nd class citizens. talk of foisting d interest of a small percentage of d populace on d rest. u can't beat a child and tell him not 2 cry, we are gradually but steadily piling up d fuel dat will eventually burn down dis country. and yet when we agitate to leave d country since we are not even recognised as citizens, some will start crying foul. tell me, oburu gi, obi oya adi gi nma? a country dat makes peaceful revolution impossible, makes violent revolution inevitable. and mind u, oburokwa so n'Enugu na Anambra ka ife a n'eme (4 those dat will attack me online)

malton:
All these people in one country, really? You only need to read the comments on this thread to know just why we have stagnated as a nation. The youths are an accessory to holding this country at bay!

Who do the politicians use to kill other youths? The youth!

Who do the politicians use to terminate well meaning opposition figures who could have changed things? The youths?

Who would rather be handed everything else than work? Most youths!

I can go on and on and yet not emphasise this enough.

But to reiterate my position on this subject;

It is important to note that for the good of people and for sake of posterity, Nigeria is better off as one country.

Reasons

Nigeria's problem has always been a systemic one.
The youths have had their rights stolen, most never even had any to be honest. You may break Nigeria into 6 different countries, it still won't change your crop of leaders--the real problem.

They have become almost like an institution, the embodiment of a corrupt system and an emblem of injustice. They abound in all regions.

In functional systems, no one is told to mind their place, but that their place is as high as they can get. It makes people ambitious and gives a sense of responsibility from a young age already.

With these people, even if you had your own country, you would only have succeeded in enthroning regional subjugators. The only difference will be country's name, logo and motto.

Now, before you accuse me, first look to your Local Government Chairman who has never lived outside of your region before, how different is he from the rest? Sh*t has eaten deep into the fabrics of the society at all levels.

What we have in Nigeria are dream killers, witches and snitches who would rather that you view education as a privilege than a right because they wouldn't want you competing on equal footing with their kids in the future.

For posterity's sake, a small country can only grow so much. Today, south Korea is developed but cannot grow much further because it's a small country, same as Canada. This has caused India and Brazil to be closing in faster on them in terms of even Nominal GDP. We need all these lands for the sake of generations unborn, they'll need it even more.

The Game of Numbers. We have a large population with a majority in the youth brackets. This has played in our favour and would continue to do so. Or why else do you think the West pits us against each other at every turn?
The wanna beat down that power.

So much is wrong with Nigeria, but we could suffer worse should we turn against each other. There's strength in numbers.
my dear, with due respect, I think u have been divorced from history. when we were practicing regionalism, d country was developing at a staggering rate, why, because all wanted d progress of their region. nw federalism has come and d growth halted somehow. d love 4 d country is no longer there. if we can be honest to ourselves, we will find out dat anybody who goes into any public office wants 2 gather as much as he can before he is sent packing, with the mentality dat dis is my chance. so if dividing dis country will bring d needed change, den let's do it, 4 d interest of all.

this issue raging on is a clear marker to those who "really own" dis country. naija was never created 4 our (southerners) interest. I was talking with an aboki guy just after d general elections and he said dat since their brother has won, dey own d country and can now run it as they please. now I really understand what he meant. all dat will settle dis unholy Siamese country is outright division, period.
