Throwback: I realize that social media is all about generating traffic for matters that are not even worth examining nor debating.
Comparing apples to oranges.
if the example cited about Ollie Gee's song was relevant, it would have been that the Ijaw lady would have been singing Ijaw choruses and making Ijaw exclamations instead of the Igbo chorus and exclamations we all enjoyed in that Igbo song.
A parting advice to all Igbos as I have always made on this forum. Stop cloaking yourselves with a persecution complex. You should refrain from always seeking to be a victim. What do u mean by persecution, who went to usa Hollywood to disgrace herself? |

It was cheaper getting a good used Tecno andriod 12, which has a higher ram space and so on, while my Nokia was still on Android version 9 Oboy port to another phone, My techno screen is compatible with so many phones, itel, spark 8c, Spark 9t, Infinix Hot 12i, (x6512), itel s18, pop 7 pro upto 12-15 phones uses exactly my screen, so it will be difficult for the phone parts to faded away quickly in the market |

triplechoice: You're the one now tribalising the issue.
Anyone can take on any role. It doesn't matter. What matters is that they try as much possible to portray the role accurately. In this case, the Ibo person was born in the diaspora and even struggle to speak the Ibo language very well.
The issue is about the mixing of Yoruba and Ibo, not why an Ibo person should be allowed to play the role of a Yoruba person.
Omotola wasn't against an Ibo person playing that role. She was against the misrepresentation of a major Nigerian language. That's all. Leave story oga body too dey pepper una, Someone said ewo in a yoruba movie, is ewoo a word or just reaction? Someone says eyaahhh is it a language? All tribes say it due to one reason, it's not a language, let me buy data for u so u can play the video online and stop claiming what's not true, Did morgan freeman not potray Mandela movie, was he speaking like South Africans, Did South Africans complain, Una go carry una wahala go disgrace una sef in USA USA don't give a fnck , all they know is u are Nigerian |
Celebrities › Re: Omotola Faces Backlash Over Experience With Igbo Actor In Hollywood (Video) by ceejay80s(m): 10:05am On Sep 13*. Modified: 1:12pm On Sep 13 |
triplechoice: No. You have misunderstood me I haven't condemned Omotola . I said she did the right thing. The person who took on the Yoruba role was mixing Yoruba and Ibo ,and getting away with it since the foreign producers don't know the difference. . Mixing Yoruba and Ibo is not the same as not being to pronounce Yoruba properly.
If the role were reversed and it was a Yoruba actor in a foreign set, mixing Yoruba with Ibo she still would complained. Please go watch the interview and make your conclusion. The 1978 movie Jesus of Nazareth was england and Italian stars acted it not Israel, Most movies u see of Americans fighting ISlamic nations are all American who acted them, black panther is American not African movie, I have seen so many movies where they potray a person as Nigerian and he's not, She's not the director of the movie, she should just face what she's thee for, Are u telling me that Hollywood don't know where to find a yoruba for that role? Hollywood is only seeing a Nigerian portraying that role not yoruba not hausa, Na we dey divide this country by ourselves not the west, Omotola should just act , get paid and get off |
Celebrities › Re: Omotola Faces Backlash Over Experience With Igbo Actor In Hollywood (Video) by ceejay80s(m): 9:35am On Sep 13 |
LabStores: Only people being deliberately obtuse will backlash her over this. It's just disgusting and irritating how sentimental some people think...
She literally said the movie is about Yoruba and Egun, and somebody is there shouting “Ewo,” “egbwemo,” and other Igbo chants. What exactly is she supposed to do? Smile, keep quiet and pretend everything is fine because she’s an actor and does not want to trigger some people? WHO CARES!?
If the cultural setting is Yoruba, then why are you forcing another ethnic culture into it and expecting everyone to just shut up when they point it out?
And this is what annoys me about Nigerians. The moment someone raises a genuine cultural issue, some people start screaming “tribalism!” as if that word automatically ends the conversation. Igbos and others please!!! Not every disagreement is tribalism. Not every cultural correction is hatred. Not every time someone says, “This doesn't belong here,” are they attacking your tribe.
Stop forcing tribal sentiments into everything. It is exhausting, intellectually lazy, and frankly disgusting. Mr interpretator If ewo is igbo, It means eyahhh too igbo, But yoruba say it , akwa ibom say it, Oh!!! Yoruba own is AHHHHHH!!!! which school u go, these are just expressions, I am ashamed of u |

Antoeni: That Story Omotola Told Might Even Be a Lie
The missing piece in Omotola’s story
1. VeryDarkMan came out swinging for Omotola.
2. But there is one tiny problem.
3. Nobody seems able to find the movie.
4. We searched (see evidence below)
5. Major Hollywood studio? No name.
6. African-inspired production? No title.
7. Igbo actress? Unidentified.
8. Egun/Ogu, Yoruba and/or Pidgin in the same project? No confirmed production found.
9. Sound-recording session? No public credit.
10. Omotola’s known US-linked films? None fits the story.
11. Even The Woman King, the obvious Hollywood film connected to Dahomey, has no public record linking Omotola to its cast, ADR, language work or production.
12. What is the Name of The Movie?
13. Because once we have the title, we can check the cast, the languages, the production company, the recording credits and perhaps even hear from the mysterious Igbo woman herself. No mind dem my brother, They are all like that |
