Data from Think Tanks such as, Pew Research, shows that more Nigerians, especially the youths, are becoming atheists and agnostics as day passes by . However, it is not clear why this demography is growing. The dominant explanation has been the secularism thesis which assumes that the movement from the primitive sacred to modern secular is driven by science.

But Nigeria, in my opinion, is yet to attain the Comptian positive or scientific age for obvious reasons. Thus, secularism may not sufficiently explain the rising number of nonbelievers in Nigeria.
