There was a mild drama in Pallam Village of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa on Friday when a newly sunk borehole failed to pump water during its formal inauguration by the state Commissioner for Water Resources.

The Commissioner, Mr Julius Kadala, who represented the state governor at the occasion, was shocked and embarrassed when water failed to flow from the hand pump after several minutes of pumping by him.
Other dignitaries, including members of the state House of Assembly and traditional rulers, also looked visibly embarrassed by the incident.
NAN reports that the water project was initiated and sponsored by United States based non- governmental organization ” Zumunta Association, Washington DC chapter” for Pallam community, which is among areas recovered from Boko Haram insurgents.
” This is embarrassing and unfortunate; I want to draw the attention of Zumunta Association that this borehole it donated is not functional,” Kadala said.
He directed that the contractor that handled the project, be invited to tackle the problem.
Also speaking, Mr. Yusuf Muhammed, Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council, expressed displeasure, adding that if the council had been involved in the project, it would have ensured that the right thing was done.
” If we have been informed from the beginning of the project we could have monitored the work to its logical conclusion.” Muhammed said.
He however thanked the NGO for its good intention of identifying with the plight of the community that was trying to pick up after the insurgency.
Responding on behalf of the organization, Mr. Hazial Haniel , the supervisor of the project, said that he was not ruling out the possibility of act of sabotage.
” I am highly surprised about this development as this morning before your arrival, I took bath with water from the pump,” Haniel said.
He said that he would send a situation report to the initiator for necessary action.

Report has it that a deadly ritualist gang stormed and attacked an Islamic school in Tungan Magajiya, Ri-jau Local Government Area of Niger State

It was gathered that the attackers who invaded the school in the early hours of Wednesday slaughtered three boys in the process.

The alleged ritualists were said to have removed the throats of the boys after collecting their blood.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Bala Elkana, said the attack was on five boys but three died.

According to Elkana, “It was suspected ritualists because they took away the victim’s’ blood around 3am on Wednesday.”

The police spokesperson said his men were investigating the incident.

For stabbing a fellow student to death, a 200 level student of Lead City University, identified by Moshood Owolabi has been sentenced to death by hanging. The suspect, on Wednesday appears before Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte of an Ibadan High Court where the judge concluded the case by sentencing him to death by hanging for killing one Seun Kolawole, two years ago.

A Physical and Health Education Department student, Owolabi caused the death of Kolawole by stabbing him with a bottle.

The judge said the counsel prosecuting the case, A. Olawale, a Deputy Director in the Oyo State Ministry of Justice had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

He said that the evidence tendered before him showed that the accused committed the offence as charged.

He sentenced him to death by hanging to serve as deterrent to others.

The judge further advised parents to always watch their children to prevent them from misbehaving and causing harm to others.

The prosecutor had earlier told the court that the convict stabbed Kolawole with a broken bottle in the neck, following a misunderstanding between him and the deceased.

He explained that the injury sustained as a result of his action resulted to the death of the victim.

Olawale said that the incident happened on Jan. 12, 2014 at toll-gate area of Ibadan.


He added that the offence was punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II Law of Oyo State, 2000.

Big Brother Naija house mates, Bisola , has said she desired a “romantically oriented” task with her fellow housemate, ThinTallTony, TTT.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has officially sworn in the recent appointed chief judge of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen as the 17th Chief Judge of Nigeria

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted and held on Tuesday inside the council Chambers of Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Justice Onnoghen, a native of Cross river state, was first appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Acting Chief Judge of Nigeria on November 10, 2016 after he former CJN, Mahmoud Mohammed retired. Onnoghen’s name has been earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate after being screened on March 1st

Mr. Osinbajo said President Muhammadu Buhari had asked him to let the new CJN know that he was assuming office at a time “when all arms of government suffers from loss of confidence from the people”.

He also said Mr. Buhari expressed the belief that the tenure of the new CJN will help revive and sustain the people’s confidence.
Mr. Osinbajo said it was time to show Nigerians that the choice they made in bringing in the administration was the right one.

Speaking earlier, the new CJN said his complete loyalty was with the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He pledged to continue to keep to his oath of office and solicited the cooperation of all Nigerians.
Mr. Onnoghen said the key to achieving good governance in Nigeria lies in respecting the rule of law.
“To Nigerians who had kept the faith, some have even fasted, I say a big thank you,” he said.
Part of the swearing-in ceremony was the investiture of the Grand Commander of the Niger, GCON, on the new CJN.

The award, Nigeria’s second highest national honour, was given by Mr. Osinbajo.
The event was witnessed by Mr. Onnoghen’s family, Senate President Bukola Saraki, former CJN Mohammed Mahmud, Justices of the Supreme Court and other divisions, as well as Ministers.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday admitted he did not know his true age.
He said his late mother merely told him she gave birth to him on a market day.

Mr. Obasanjo said this on Thursday at the 2017 International Youth Variety Day and Public Presentation of Olusegun Obasanjo’s Books for Children, as part of programmes for his 80th birthday.

The programme, organised by the Centre for Human Security, with the theme “Presidential Libraries Will Reduce Leadership Deficit in Africa”, held at theater hall of the Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

Mr. Obasanjo said while growing up, he had the challenge of knowing his real date of birth, because his parents were illiterates.

“At early stage in my life, I had the challenge of knowing my date of birth, and my peers always asked, while in return I persisted in asking my mother, who was an illiterate and had no records,” he said.

The former president added that when he continued to pressure his mother, the information he was given by his was that she gave birth to him on an Ifo village market day.

“When I continued to put pressure on my mother, she told me that she was preparing to go to market on the said day, and went into labour, and before others could return from the market, she had given birth to me,” Mr. Obasanjo said.

Bishop David Oyedepo is the founder and president of the Living Faith Church World Wide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. In 1982 he married Florence Abiola Akano (now known as Faith). They have four children, two Boys: David Oyedepo Jr and Isaac and two girls: Love and Joyce.
David Oyedepo Jr and Isaac Oyedepo were ordained as Pastors in May 2007 by Kenneth Copeland. David Oyedepo Jr, was the pastor London Branch of the Church with his wife, Kemi but now he is the current resident Pastor of Faith Tabernacle while Isaac Oyedepo is the present Resident Pastor of Winners’ Chapel International, South Africa.

3. Scholarships
Bishop David Oyedepo and his organization founded over 100 educational institutions for primary “kingdom Heritage Model School”, secondary “Faith Academy” and tertiary stages of formal Education.
Covenant University was opened to students on October 21, 2002, and was adjudged to be the best private university in Nigeria as of 2005, the best in West Africa; also in February 10, 2015 the University was ranked the positions of the 12th and 13th best University in Africa by both webometrics and repositories in Africa. They have a vision of being the best tertiary institution in the world.
On March 21, 2011, Landmark University, Omuaran Kwara State (another educational institution founded by the Ministry) officially opened for the first students and it was founded to build up a world class agricultural standard University and raise world class agricultural men in Nigeria.

4. Wealth
In 2011, Forbes named him the richest pastor in the world. And nobody has been able beat his records yet. Oyedepo is the wealthiest preacher in Nigeria with a net worth of over USD150 million. The church owns four private jets and several buildings around the world, including real estate in London, UK, and in the United States.

5. Christian journey
Bishop David Oyedepo became born again on February 19, 1969 when he was 15 years old through the influence of his missionary teacher Ms Betty Lasher, who took a special interest in him during his secondary school days. He shared his first gospel in 1970 and has been on it till date. He also rejected a charm his father gave him.
As a secondary school student, he challenged god to heal him of tuberculosis after his mates took their beds away from him and he was healed.

6. Ordination and Ministry
Bishop David Oyedepo and his wife were ordained by Pastor E.A. Adeboye and officially commissioned the church on September 17, 1983, two years after the Liberation Mandate was delivered to him in an 18 hour vision to liberate mankind from all oppression of the devil through the preaching of the world of faith.
In 1988, five years after he was ordained a pastor, Dr David Oyedepo was ordained Bishop by ArchBishop Benson Idahosa.

7. He is not banned from UK
In the end of summer 2014 there were rumors that the UK Home Office has barred the multi-millionaire Nigerian preacher from entering the United Kingdom. But David Oyedepo stated it was false information through his spokesperson.
8. Dominion Publishing House
Bishop David oyedepo has written over 70 Christian, inspirational, motivational and Spiritual books and has been published by the ministries publishing house called the Dominion Publishing House. The Dominion Publishing House was commissioned in December 5, 1992. It has since then published books, mini books, magazine and other resource and has over 4 million prints in circulation today.

9. Education
very little is known about Bishop David Oyedepo’s primary and secondary school days but he studied Architecture in Kwara State Polytechnic now University of Ilorin. He worked in Federal ministry of housing for a while before resigning to concentrate in full time ministry. He also gained a PhD in human development from Honolulu University, Hawaii, United states of America.

10. Family Background
Bishop David Oyedepo was born in Osogbo on the 27th of September 1954, but he is a native of Omu-Aran, Kwara state Nigeria. He was raised in a mixed religious his father was a Muslim healer while his mother was a member of Eternal Order of Cherubim and seraphim movement. He was raised by his Grandmother who was a devoted Anglican. It was his grandmother that inculcated to him the virtues of Christianity and he has been living with them from them till now.

Onnoghen was born on December 22, 1950 at Okurike town, Biase local government area of Cross Rivers state.

After obtaining a law degree from the University of Legon, Ghana, he started his career as pupil state counsel at the ministry of justice, Lagos in 1978.

He practiced law for several years before he joined the bench.

He made history in Nigeria on April 11, 2014 when he, alongside some of his colleagues, made a landmark pronouncement in the case of two Igbo women, Gladys Ada Ukeje and Maria Nweke, who argued that they should have equal access as men to the inheritance of their parents.

In Igbo culture, women had been disinherited for ages as a result of tradition.

The two women sued the men in their families – and finally got justice as the case moved from the lower to the highest courts in the land.

He also upheld the death sentence meted out to Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, known as “Rev. King”, the general overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, who was accused of murdering a member of his church in 2006.

Futhermore, it was Onnoghen, who annulled Yar’Adua’s election in December 2008 and called for a fresh one, after the then Gen. Buhari argued that the election was rigged.

However, his decision, alongside other colleagues, did not hold as they did not have the required number of Justices to pull the judgement through.

Onnoghen is remarkably the first southerner to be CJN since 1987 when Ayo Irikefe retired, the cable revealed.

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Monday sentenced a 35-year-old man, Tope Odeyemi, to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of rape.

Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye convicted him after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman and inflicting grievous bodily harm on her which led to her admission in a hospital.

According to Punch, the prosecution, led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, told the court that the father of two committed the offence on September 4, 2014 in Iyin Ekiti.

The prosecution called five witnesses to prove his case while the defence counsel, Mr. Taiwo Adeloye, called two witnesses.

The state counsel also urged the court to convict Odeyemi based on the evidence laid before the court.

Adeloye urged the court to dismiss all the evidence of the prosecution against his client, describing them as weak.

The trial judge in his judgment pronounced the accused guilty based on his confessional statement and other corroborative evidence.

A four month old boy who was dumped under oshodi bride, lagos has been rescued.

Report has it that the baby was rescued by the Operatives of the Lagos State Task force while his 18 year old mother identified as Timilehin Adeshina, was arrested.

Task Force Chairman, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi said the boy was rescued by the enforcement team of the agency at Oshodi, adding that the mother was arrested while running away.

Egbeyemi disclosed that the teenage mom confessed that she dumped the baby because she could no longer take care of him, adding that none of her family members was willing to accommodate her and her baby.

The Junior Secondary School drop-out, said she incurred her mother’s wrath because she could not identify the man who impregnated her among the different men who slept with her.

The Ogun State indigene who lost her father nine years ago, added that different men still pay to have sex with her while sleeping on the streets.

She has since been transferred to the Social Welfare Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development.

Popular Nigerian Actor, Muyiwa Ademola has joined many nollywood celebrities who are making extra money after setting up drama schools for upcoming actors.

The Nollywood actor revealed to fans today that he is putting finishing touches to the drama school named “Authentic School of Drama”

He promises to give fans more information once the drama school officially opens for business.

Other Nollywood actors who have drama schools include Odunlade Adekola, Funke Akindele, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Mercy Aigbe, Yul Edochie and a few others.
