A woman and her two children were on burnt to death on thursday after their family vehicle had an accident at the Ewekoro end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ogun State.

It was learnt that two other occupants of the Lexus Jeep with number plate, MUS 309 EF, were in a critical condition at the Ijaiye General Hospital.

It was gathered that the family were travelling for Christmas when the driver, who was at top speed, ran into a bad portion of the road.

The driver was said to have lost control as the vehicle somersaulted and subsequently burst into flames.

A resident, who identified himself only as Fajani, said the deceased were burnt beyond recognition.

An eye witness wrote
“The accident happened this morning (Thursday) in front of Lafarge Cement gate due to the bad road. They were a family going home for Christmas; but they ended the journey of their lives on the road. There were only three survivors– the driver, husband, and one young girl. The wife and children were all burnt to ashes,”

The Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Itori unit, responded to the emergency after the bad incident occurs

It was learnt that the FRSC officials were initially attacked by a mob that faulted them for arriving late.

The officials were said to have retreated to reinforce before they could gain access to the scene.

An FRSC official, who did not want to be identified, said the accident happened around 10am.
He said, “There were five people in the vehicle and they were heading towards Lagos. It appeared they were coming from Abeokuta.

“When they got to the Ewekoro end of the expressway, the driver lost control of the Jeep after running into a bad portion of the road. I believe he did not know the road well.
“It is, however, not clear if they had a combustible material in the vehicle because no sooner than the accident happened that the vehicle burst into flames.

“A woman and two children were burnt to death, while two others were rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment.”

The Ogun State Sector Commander, FRSC, Clement Oladele, confirmed the crash, adding that investigations were ongoing.

He said, “The accident involved a Lexus Jeep and it was caused by speeding. Five people were involved, out of which three died. The corpses have been deposited in a morgue, while the survivors were taken to the state hospital at Ijaiye, Abeokuta.”

The FRSC boss said the wreakage had been removed from the road to clear the traffic that resulted from the accident.

Oladele advised motorists to drive with care, adding that life is precious.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.


He said, “It was a lone accident. The driver, who was at top speed, suddenly ran into a pothole, which made him to lose control. The vehicle then somersaulted and burst into flames, killing a woman and her two children. The corpses were taken to a mortuary in Ifo, while the survivors were taken to a hospital for treatment. It was an unfortunate incident.”

The Lagos State Government on Friday said it could not commence the sale of its Lake Rice on December 15 as earlier planned to ensure that plots to hijack the project was averted.

The Special Adviser on Food Security to Governor Akinwumi Ambode, Mr. Sanni Okanlawan, said that the rice would now be on sale as from next week.

The government had planned to sell the rice at N13,000 per 50kg bag at the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development area headquarters from Dec. 15.


Okanlawon said the government was installing mechanisms for Lagosians to celebrate the best Yuletide without hiccups posed by money bags.

He said, “We are working out the modalities to make sure that what the government intends to sell at N13,000 was not hijacked and sold to Lagosians at N15,000, that is what we do not want.

“From all indications, hopefully, by next week Lake Rice will be out, so, we want everything to be in place before it is out.”

LASG had on December 8 promised that it was ready to roll out Lake Rice on December 15 to Lagosians at N13,000 per 50 kg towards the Yuletide celebrations.
The Special Adviser made the disclosure during the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Agriculture Stakeholders Summit.
He said, “Lake Rice is the acronym of both Lagos and Kebbi States joint product which will be out to the public on Dec. 15 at a cost of N13,000 per 50kg bag as it is already subsidised by the government.

“To make it more available, the rice will be sold at the 57 LGA’s and LCDA’s for easy accessibility and to guard against unwanted persons diverting the product, the state has put in place a committee.”

Lagos State had in March signed an MoU with the Kebbi State Government to produce rice paddy to be milled and packaged in Lagos State.

Reports reaching us has it that the building has since been cordoned off for rescue operation as a team of RRS officers are providing security against hoodlums who might want to use the situation as a cover to carry out nefarious activities.

Four people were allegedly hit by bullets as All Progressives Congress members celebrated on the streets after winning some of the seats in the state. Things didn't go as planned as the people were attacked.
It is not yet known who the shooters were, but many were left injured in the process.

There was pandemonium yesterday at Moniya , Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, when a policeman allegedly killed a motorcyclist over N50 bribe.

Two other people were shot by police officers attached to Moniya Police Station in Akinyele Local Government.

An eyewitness said trouble started when a motorcyclist carrying two passengers refused to stop when he was flagged down by a police officer.

He was reportedly hit in the head with a baton.

The motorcyclist reportedly fell off the bike and died on the spot.

It was gathered that the deceased’s colleagues threatened to burn down the police station.

In an attempt to scare them off, the police were alleged to have released tear gas and shot into the air.
Unfortunately, two people were hit by stray bullets. They are receiving treatment.

Police spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the death of the motorcyclist but denied he was hit by the police.

According to Ajisebutu, “Due to a stop and search by the police, a motorcyclist who was carrying three passengers, refused to stop as ordered by the security officers.

“As he was trying to escape, he ran into a pothole, fell and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died.

“As a result of this, his colleagues attacked a police patrol vehicle and seized an AK-rifle which was later recovered.

“Not done, they headed to Moniya Police Station, threatening to burn down the station.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) said five suspects were arrested.
“There was no shooting. Later, the DPO held a meeting with them.

“Normalcy had since returned to the area as the Commissioner of Police enjoined residents to go about their business.”

In another similar video revealed in May, a woman shouts during another ceremony, “so this is what you left my house for this morning?” – indicating she has a romantic relationship with the groom and he even slept with her till the morning on his wedding to another woman.

A bride’s childhood dream of arriving at her wedding by helicopter ended in tragedy when it crashed just a mile from the venue.

Rosemere do Nascimento Silva, 32, had planned to surprise her fiancé Udirley Damasceno and 300 guests by swooping in to their reception in a rural area on the outskirts of Sao Paulo in Brazil.


But in an horrendous twist of fate, the aircraft crashed en route to the venue, killing the bride-to-be, her brother, the pilot and a photographer who was six-months-pregnant.
Mr Damasceno was left waiting at the altar, unaware of what his fiancée was planning to do, or of the tragic consequences.
Police and air crash investigators are now trying to establish what caused the crash.

They are looking into reports that it might have hit a tree during bad visibility with rain, fog and cloud.

The accident was only discovered when he realised the helicopter did not arrive at a nearby football field.
He made a phone call which confirmed it had taken off as planned.


They were later told a plane had crashed nearby but at first thought it was an unconnected incident.

The distraught bridegroom was told the news at the altar by the pastor and was said to have gone into total shock.
There were 300 guests at the wedding but only about six of them knew about the surprise.

The National Civil Aviation Agency has indicated that the aircraft permission to fly until February 1, 2017 with a capacity of three people without counting the pilot.
The helicopter, a Robinson 44, crashed about a mile from the wedding venue in a forest area near a main road.

Eight fire engines rushed to the scene but nothing could be done to save the four occupants.

The journey would have taken just 15 minutes.

A fashion apprentice, Blessing Alex, has been found dead in a well after she was reportedly to have aborted her 3 month old pregnancy.
The incident which occurred in Iselle-Azagba community in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, has raised alarm and causing serious confusion for the residents of the community.
An inner source disclosed that the deceased, who hailed from Ikoto town in the Ini Local Government Area of Cross River State was discovered to be pregnant for one of the villagers, but her parents insisted that she removed the foetus.
It was learnt that Blessing, who had gone missing for about 10 days, was found dead in the well in the community on Saturday by members of the community vigilance group.
The deceased was to be attached to a sewing institute for further training when she was allegedly impregnated by her boyfriend who is an indigene of the community.
Another villager, who identified himself simply as Uche, said the incident had thrown the community into mourning.
He added that many thought that the girl might have committed suicide as a result of her parents’ stance on her pregnancy and the depression she suffered after it was aborted.
“Not too long ago, the victim, who was living with her father and stepmother, aborted her pregnancy.
“It was learnt that she was force to remove the foetus because the family members were not comfortable with her relationship with the man who impregnated her.
“Since then, she had not been herself both in composure and behaviour until she was found dead,” a source disclosed.
When asked to state the extent of investigation, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, said he was not aware of the incident.

South African universities set to offer witchcraft in their school curriculum. If news making the rounds is anything to go by, then students will now have a chance to get an education on witchcraft. According to Live Monitor, plans to include witchcraft into university curriculums, have been announced by the South African minister of higher education and training, Mr Blade Nzimande.

According to Nzimande, the classes which will commence from 2018, is aimed at learning skills which are peculiar to people who practice witchcraft. Addressing student union representatives from across the country, he said: “There is a lot we can learn from witchcraft, like how they fly in that winnowing basket. Imagine if we learn that skill. It will eradicate traffic jams and everyone will just get in their basket and fly. It also means we will not be importing fuel anymore.”

Nzimande also reportedly asked popular witches to book and keep appointments with his office, where there skills would be tested to determine which ones would be hired as lecturers. He also reportedly invited witches from outside South Africa, with a promise of permanent residency. He said: “I spoke to Gibs (Minister of Home affairs Malusi Gigaba) and he agreed to issue witches from outside South Africa with permanent residence permits. I heard Malawi and Zimbabwe have an impressive collection of witches. We are hoping they will heed the call.” The student representatives were said to have booed him after his speech, because they had assumed he would reduce their increasing school fees. Applications into the department is said to be closing at midnight on September 30. There is currently an opening for 109 witches.
