Crime / Police Arrest Turkish School Kidnapping Suspects (PHOTO) by CEO1(m): 6:48am On Jan 19, 2017
Report has it that two suspected notorious kidnappers who had earlier stormed Turkish school in isheri, ogun state have been arrested by the Nigerian police

It was learnt that apart from the ringleaders, Philip Kakadu, aka General Kakadu, and Romeo Council, aka Raw, other suspects were also said to be undergoing screening in connection with the abduction.

Investigations reveal that Kakadu, 29 and Council, 40 were arrested in Warri, delta state by the operatives of the Inspector general of police intelligence response team led by ACP Abba Kyari where they have gone to spend their loots

Some gunmen had stormed the NTIC last Friday through a hole dug under the school fence and headed for the female hostel, where three pupils were abducted.

A Turkish teacher, a supervisor, a matron and two intending candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, who worked in the school, were also whisked away by the assailants.

The kidnappers had contacted the matron’s husband and demanded N100m while the police were under pressure to rescue the victims safely.

However, operatives said they were exercising restraints to storm the possible locations of the suspects in the creeks in order not to endanger the lives of the victims.

A police source told our correspondent on Wednesday that the two masterminds had reportedly confessed to orchestrating the crime, adding that the arrest would mount pressure on the captors to release the victims.

“Council is a native of the Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, while Kakadu hails from Warri North LGA of the state. They were arrested on Tuesday and have confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping at the school.

“They also confessed to other kidnappings, including the abduction of the Iba monarch in Lagos, and some Isheri landlords. With their arrest, we believe their boys holding the victims in the creeks would surrender,” the source said.

Kakadu allegedly told the police that five of his boys were among those involved in the NTIC operation.

“Kakadu is based in Lagos. He went to Warri to have fun. That was when operatives swooped on him. Five of his men were part of the gang and he is cooperating with the police,” another source added.

A top security agent said the aim of going after the kingpins was not only to secure the release of the victims, but also to find a better way of addressing incessant kidnappings in Lagos and Ogun states.

Efforts to get comment of the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Donald Awunah, were unsuccessful as calls made to his line rang out. He had also yet to reply to a text message sent to him as of press time.

Religion / No Terrorist Group Shouts ‘Jesus, Jesus’ Before Attacks – CAN Replies Soyinka by CEO1(m): 5:43pm On Jan 17, 2017
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has blasted Wole Soyinka for opining that religion will destroy Nigeria if not tamed.

Soyinka was said to have made the statement at a book presentation in Abuja last Thursday.

“I would like to transfer that cry (by President Muhammadu Buhari on corruption) from the moral zone to the terrain of religion. If we do not tame religion in this nation, religion will kill us.”

CAN’s National Director, Legal and Public Affairs, Kwamkur Samuel, in response insisted that religion was not responsible for Nigeria’s problems.

“With due respect to Prof. Soyinka, it is not true that religion is the bane of Nigeria’s stability. No genuine religion promotes killings and destruction of lives and property.

“It is unfair for the Nobel laureate to project religion as a problem when it is the faithful believers that are praying and sacrificing to keep the nation moving,” Samuel said.
“Christianity preaches peace in all its ramifications. I challenge the professor to identify one attack on any community in Nigeria that was reported to have been carried out by Christians.

“Let him show any terrorist group by whatever name that shouts the name of Jesus before attacks or claim they are fighting for Jesus.

“We are sad that the so-called religious killing is persisting because our prominent leaders are not ready to call a spade by its real name”, he added.
He also asked Soyinka to question security operatives, on why some suspects had not been prosecuted.

“Why would a woman will be murdered in cold blood by known neighbours, yet they will be set free without prosecution like it happened in Kano? Nigeria will be far from getting to any solution,” Samuel added.

Crime / Kidnappers Of Turkish School Students, Staffs Demand N1.2bn Ransom by CEO1(m): 8:02am On Jan 16, 2017
The unknown gunmen who had earlier stormed Nigerian Turiksh International College, NTIC, located at Isheri, ogun to kidnapped five students and three staffs have reported demanded a whooping sum of money form the parents and the school management as condition to free the victims.

According to source, the kidnappers call the families of the victims and demanded a whooping N1.2billion ransom.

Detective handling the case told the pressmen that the kidnappers had called families of the abducted schoolgirls and Nigerian officials demanding N100million ransom each. They also demanded N300million on each of the two Turkish nationals among the victims.

“They have been using the victims’ phone numbers to call their families. Each of the families was asked to pay N100 million. Whenever the families try to negotiate, the kidnappers would end the call,” said a security source, who would not want to be named.
It was learnt that Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the school hostel have shown that the kidnappers wore masks. One of the kidnappers, it was also gathered, wore skirt, but detectives suspect he is a man.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State government has assured parents and staff of the school that prompt action would be taken to ensure immediate release of the kidnapped victims.
The kidnap incident was said to have occurred on the 9th anniversary of the school.
It came barely three months after gunmen invaded Lagos Model College in Epe and kidnapped four students, a vice principal and a teacher.

Business / Efritin Company Shut Down, Blames Bad Economy by CEO1(m): 11:08am On Jan 14, 2017
Efritin (pronounced ‘Everything’) has stopped further investments in Nigeria and has wound down operations, just 16 months after its official launch.

Investigation showed that high cost of data and operational demands forced the e-classified advert player to close shop.

The company’s staff are already vacating the head office located in Ikeja while office properties are being auctioned. In a Skype call with Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Nils Hammar, chief executive officer, Saltside Technologies and owners of Efritin, confirmed the decision to close down its Nigerian office, blaming harsh economic conditions in the country as the primary factor.

Hammar said that high cost of data is slowing down investments, disclosing their fears that current economic indices (recession) in the country may remain the same up to last quarter of 2017.

Recently, the telecommunications service providers in Nigeria indicated plans to increase data subscription by almost 100 per cent, attributing same to a supposed directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The operators have since been carpeted by the Senate, which stopped the plan of increasing a data plan of N1,000 for 1.5 gigabytes to cost N3,000 at N1,000 per 500 megabytes.

“We are reducing our investment in Nigeria. That effectively means we are reducing our staff; everybody has to go. But in terms of using the site, it will continue as before. By investment we mean the investment we made from the launch, it will be reduced,” Hammar said.

“Like I said earlier, data cost is too high and limits the growth potential of the market. if you look at the size of Nigeria and the online activities, there is a big discrepancies. Before e-commerce and classified ad sites will start recouping return in investments (RoI) there has to be drastic reduction in cost of data,” the Saltside Technologies boss said.

Efritin is alleged to be involved in 10 court cases in Nigeria that would cost the company up to N20million in fees among other things, according to a report by TechMoron, causing the central CEO to finally make the decision to close the company.

However, Hammar agreed there are court cases, but denied that the legal tussles were part of the decisions to step out of Nigeria. He said, “I can’t comment on specific legal cases involving Efritin operations in Nigeria, especially, on whether there are true or not. But I can tell you that has nothing to do with our decision to leave Nigeria. It has zero impact on the decision.

This decision is something we deliberated on for a very long time; tried different approaches to see if we can find a better path forward considering the economic challenges- the data cost”.

Family / Four Year Old Little Boy Fell And Died Inside Well After Mother Screams At Him by CEO1(m): 7:24am On Jan 13, 2017
A four-year-old little boy, Praise Dada, fell inside a well on Tuesday following a shout by his mum who found him playing near the well.

Little Praise, a Nursery II pupil, followed his mom to greet a friend while returning from school. Mrs Dada decided to visit her friend who just opened a shop near the school.

Praise was seen jumping on the well with a fragile lid. As his mother screamed on the looming danger, the boy, out of shock and panic, was said to have fell inside the well...

The incident attracted huge crowd but none could enter the well to rescue the boy. The Nation learnt that it took an hour before he was recovered. He was declared dead at the Holy Mary Hospital opposite the shop.

An eyewitness, Fola said:
“I was in the room when I heard someone screaming, ‘this child has killed himself’. Then I ran out to find out what happened. I even thought it was motorcycle that hit someone. Then I asked them and they said he fell inside a water. So, I went near the gutter, assuring them that I will rescue the child. Then I realised he fell inside the well. I turned back and called 767. We waited for them for over an hour. But later some Hausa guys came and removed him. By the time he was brought out, he was dead.

“What I heard was that the shock from his mother’s scream led the child inside well because he was already jumping on it. She shouted, fear gripped the boy and he fell down. It was the noise that attracted a crowd. His mother even wanted to go into the well before people removed the baby she strapped on her back for safety.”

Another witness, Grace Tosin, said:
“I was sleeping when I heard the landlord’s voice. The woman was passing by and decided to greet a new tenant here who just rented a shop. After exchange of greetings, she sat and they started chatting. She got here around 4pm. She sat here when the child was jumping on the well. When she saw him on it and tried to rescue him, he got scared and his head dived into the well. Before we knew it, he was inside the well.

"The rescuer had wanted to enter the well much earlier but people were creating tension and saying he could also die, so the fear delayed him until he was encouraged again. It was his bag that was first retrieved before his body. He was rushed to the hospital opposite us where he was declared dead on arrival.

“The boy’s father was very furious on hearing the incident.”

A nurse, who attended to him, said “the boy was dead on arrival. It took them long to retrieve him from the well. We tested his pulse and there was nothing.”

Romance / Sermon For Nigerian Young Ladies — Oladimeji Omo Balogun by CEO1(m): 11:27am On Jan 12, 2017
A facebook user, Oladimeji Omo Balogun wrote about ladies' decent dressing

He wrote

"Men whether rich or poor admire ladies who dress decently and respect themselves. Decent clothing that reveals less about your body makes them love and respect you.
It tells them that you are a virtuous woman and a wife material they would take home to be a mother. It tells them how you were brought up morally and gives them details about your good family background.
They don’t really care a lot about your excessive make-ups and face paintings. A good wife material remains no matter what. Value your Body, Be real and Respect yourself. And a good man who will respect you will find you whatsoever"

Politics / Donald Trump To Attend Nigeria’s Oil, Gas Roadshow - Daily Post by CEO1(m): 10:29am On Jan 11, 2017
The incoming President of the United States of America (USA), Mr. Donald Trump, is billed to attend a roadshow put together by the Federal Government as part of efforts to attract investment into the oil sector.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, made the disclosure while unveiling his goals and those of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for 2017 in Abuja.

According to him, “We are going to be seeking to attract investments and complete all the MoUs we have in China and India. We are looking to do a roadshow to the UK, we are looking to do a roadshow to the US with President Donald Trump coming in,’’ he said.

The Minister said Nigeria would exploit the relationship built by President Muhammadu Buhari in taking a roadshow to the UK and the US.

“We are going to accelerate Federal Government’s revenues, look into areas where we could have made more money, so as to support the 2017 budget financing.

“We are looking to draw on the relationship that the President has built over time. We are going to be conducting oil blocks allocations and marginal flow awards to try and raise money for the government,” Kachikwu said.

He assured that Nigeria’s refineries would be revamped to produce at 60 per cent capacity.

“We need to start the revamping of the refineries. The president has given us marching orders on that. We still remain committed on our goal of 2018 to reduce importation by 60 per cent and 2019, stop the importation of petroleum products substantially.

“Now, we are going to continue to focus on downstream issues. Although we have liberalised, there are still some challenges.

“We are going to see how we work within the liberalisation infrastructure such that we are able to take away the low-hanging difficulties.

“We are also going to focus on the Niger Delta. It’s been too long a lingering issue. We are going to be working with every aspect of the Presidency to try and find solution to this.

“On the other hand, we are going to run at a rocket pace. We have so much to do. First, we are going to firm up our policies, be able to gazette all our oil and gas policies and then pass the PIB,” he stated.

Kachikwu praised Nigeria’s “influential role” in stabilising oil prices, saying he expects oil to trade in the $60s for the better part of 2017.

Politics / Ogun State Govt, Buruji Kashamu Fights Over Demolition Of Health Centre by CEO1(m): 8:28am On Jan 11, 2017
The Ogun State Government on Tuesday demolished a Primary Health Centre at Obada in Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

The health facility was said to have been undergoing renovation without approval by the senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, which necessitated its being pulled down by the agents of the state government.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye and the chairman, Ijebu North,Mr. Adebayo Adekoya witnessed the demolition exercise.
According to the state government which spoke through Adekoya, the lawmaker goofed by not seeking approval from either the state or the local governments before embarking on the project.
The governor alleged that the contractor working on the site, chased out staff and patients from the hospital, in addition to throwing out medical equipment and putting them by the roadside.
He said, "About two weeks ago, there was a signboard that was erected around the health centre and it was reported to me and I said, no problem if anyone wants to put up any building they will inform us.
"But to our surprise on Friday, immediately after the closing hours, they started pulling down the health Centre without notification.
"When they reported to me I was not around thinking that letter for approval might bé on the way but I never saw any notice or letter, only to discover that they had already began reconstruction on the facility.
"There is no harm in doing a constituency project ?but the structure in question is under my juridiction (Obada health centre)"
Adekoya, however, denied the claim that the facility was abandoned necessitating its renovation.
But, in his reaction, the Senator through his Media Adviser ,Austin Oniyokor said "we received with rude shock the news of the demolition of a Primary Healthcare Centre in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State under the direct supervision of the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye and the local government Chairman, Mr. Bayo Adekoya.
"Information at our disposal revealed that Ipaye and Adekoya led some thugs and Mobile policemen to the facility, which is being renovated and refurbished by the Senator representing Ogun East Senator District as part of his constituency projects, and ordered them to demolish it because they were allegedly not “carried along”.
"We condemn this act in its entirety because we think that the APC-led state and local government officials should have put the interest of the people beyond and above any other consideration. We did not encroach on the property or vandalise anything as being erroneously spread by agents of the APC-led government. We strongly believe that governance is more about the welfare of the people and not procedures and interests, be it political or otherwise.
"Even if they said they already had plans to fix the facility, why pull it down because of some flimsy excuses? One would have expected them to either encourage anyone who takes the initiative to fix it or at least compete with him by building another and better facility and not to pull down the one being built, all in the name of politics. At the end of the day, it is the people that will bear the brunt of this executive lawlessness.
"While sympathise with the APC-led State and local governments and empathise with the people of Ijebu Igbo and its environs, we will not be deterred in our resolve to continually improve on the condition of the people", he said .

Politics / Niger Delta Avengers Order Fighters To Prepare For War by CEO1(m): 10:29am On Jan 07, 2017
Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), on Friday ordered its fighters to prepare to fight “war” against the “enemy”, saying Nigerian authorities were not ready for dialogue.

Avengers had declared a ceasefire last year after major attacks on oil facilities, crippling the OPEC member’s oil output.

The attacks cut Nigeria’s oil production, which stood at 2.1 million barrels per day (bpd) for some months in 2016.

Although the Nigerian government has been holding talks for more than six months with Niger Delta leaders, the former militants have complained that no progress has been made.

In a statement posted on its site yesterday, NDA said it was set to resume hostilities.

Titled ‘OPERATIONS WALLS OF JERICHO AND HURRICANE JOSHUA’ NDA informed “the people of our Niger Delta, sane minds in Nigeria and the comity of nations that the remaining 11 months and couples of weeks in 2017 will be filled with surprises and a reconfiguration of the struggle for the liberation of our motherland.”

“Since, the declaration of cessation of hostilities in the region by all fighters and affiliates, it has been evidently clear that the Nigerian state is not ready for any form of dialogue and negotiation with our people to addressing the issues sustaining the unending sufferings and deprivation of the people of the Niger Delta.

“The world is aware that, after listening to calls from our Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, Stakeholders and members of the comity of nations especially the governments of the United States of America, Great Britain and the European Union, we halted all actions. This prospect for hope for a genuine dialogue and negotiations have been dashed and rejected.

“The world knows that PANDEF as team of critical stakeholders was mandated to engender a genuine dialogue and negotiations process that will be made of apolitical committed Niger Deltans to engage with the government and people of Nigeria, representatives of the International Oil Corporations and neutral observers. But this government decides to go around to politicising and blackmailing the process to forestall any genuine dialogue and negotiations.

“The world should be assured that, our next line of actions to redeem Operations Red Economy will be unannounced with surely overwhelming signatures to this government and humanity.

“The world is aware that the government of Nigeria has ear problems but we never knew that it has taken a detoriating deaf level dimensions. It is only through hard knocks we can speak to the Nigerian government henceforth”.

Continuing Avengers assured Niger Delta people that “we feel your pains from these dashed hopes of a genuine talk once again. All fighters and commands are hereby placed on high readiness in your webs of operations to hit and knock the enemy very hard.

“That is the way to discuss with a deaf, when he cannot understand your soft massage. We are determined to hit him very hard and deadly that even his eyes will shed blood, his ear will be more deafened and his heart shall quake; when he sees, hear and feel the outcome of our next activities.

“On this note, we are declaring “Operations Walls of Jericho and Hurricane Joshua” simultaneously to reclaim our motherland and dislodge all cleavages the Nigerian Ruling oligarchy has foisted on the region that is sustaining the ongoing primitive accumulation by dispossession.”

Politics / Buhari, British Plans Secretly To Kill Nnamdi Kanu With Poison – IPOB by CEO1(m): 1:26pm On Jan 06, 2017
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has raised the alarm over alleged plot by the British government and President Muhammadu Buhari to secretly kill its leader, Nnamdi Kanu by administering a “non – traceable posion.”

The secessionist group claimed the move was aimed at preventing Kanu from releasing videos and “classified information ” indicting both Buhari and the British government as “accessory to genocide on Biafrans.”

IPOB also alleged that Kanu was wanted dead before the United States, US, President elect, Donald Trump was sworn in as President.

The pro – Biafra group said a, “phantom road accident” would be arranged for the vehicle conveying Kanu to court should the poisoning attempt fails.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the separatist group wondered why the British Government would opt to align with “people of Islamic faith such as Buhari to kill Biafrans and enthrone servitude in Biafraland?”

IPOB called on the British government to retrace its step of allegedly scheming to poison Kanu.

The group warned that should anything happens to Kanu and others standing trial with him, the “British Government shall be held directly responsible for their deaths.”

IPOB further reaffirmed its struggle towards the restoration of Biafra, saying “Both Buhari and the Biafra-hating British Government are incapable” of stopping the God ordained project.

The statement reads, “We can confirm that the British Government is working in tandem with President Muhammadu Buhari to stealthily administer a non-traceable poison on the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Our intelligence gathering team revealed that one of the reasons for embarking on this heinous crime by both the British Government and Buhari is to stop the avalanche of leaked videos and some classified information which incontrovertibly placed the British Government as an accessory to genocide on Biafrans.

“Another reason is to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu is dead before Mr. Donald J. Trump takes over as the 45th President of the USA. We have also confirmed that should the plan to poison Nnamdi Kanu fail, a phantom road accident will be arranged for the vehicle conveying Nnamdi Kanu to court on any of the court days beginning from Tuesday, 10th of January 2017.

“What bothers us in IPOB is the fact that Biafrans are Christians and a sizeable proportion of whom are Anglican denomination including the parents of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, which was where they baptised and christened him “Kenneth or Kenny” for short.

“So as a child and in accordance with Anglican prayer book Nnamdi Kanu grew up praying for the safety and well being of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and all their heirs. But the question we ask the British Government is this;

“Why would Britain, a supposedly Christian country and a proclaimed member of the body of Christ, be supporting people of Islamic faith such as Buhari to kill Biafrans and enthrone servitude in Biafraland?

“From where is this British Government hatred on fellow Christians of Biafran descent coming? Perhaps, the British Government must tell the world what we, Biafrans, did to them that makes them hate us so much.

“Is it because we accepted Christianity that they see us as inferior beings or is it the fact that we have English names that made them see us as people without a proud identity? Even the undersigned of this press release still bear their English names and append same on all documents both personal and corporate.

“Why would the British Government want Nnamdi Kanu dead in spite of the fact that he is a British citizen? Or is it in line with the British Government’s standard practice of hating every African freedom fighter? Recall that both Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron called Nelson Mandela a terrorist and demanded he should be hanged.

“In like manner, the British Government is now pushing for Nnamdi Kanu to be jailed by Buhari’s sister and incompetent Judge, Mrs Binta Nyako. This hatred for African freedom fighters, especially those of the Christian faith, by the British Government is very surprising considering that these are Africans who willingly accepted Christianity.

“What is it in Islam that the British Government discovered which makes them abandon their fellow Christians and connive with Muslims to oppress and kill these Christians on a continual basis?

“We would like to use this opportunity to caution the British Government to retrace their steps and terminate their plans to kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We are also putting the world on notice that should anything happen to Nnamdi Kanu or those detained with him and elsewhere in Nigeria, the British Government shall be held directly responsible for their deaths.

Education / Article: School Dating Is A Game…the Girl Is The Loser! by CEO1(m): 8:10am On Jan 05, 2017
It’s sincerely no news how my generation of runs their things in such a manner as often finally leads to ruin. Amongst a long list of mistakes we make while in relationships in school, I choose in this first article to discuss the one I consider the biggest and most dangerous. While in school, we meet friends from different backgrounds. In the long run, we forget where we are coming from. Most of us end up dating a large number of partners, while some stick to one and become the ‘wife’. The aura that envelops us is such that those of us who choose to abstain and face only our studies and other interests are made to look the queer. The question,‘who are you dating?’becomes a far more common question than ‘what are you studying?’ We learn not to say we do not wish to date, hiding rather under the cover that our ‘dates’ are in other schools. Everything is deployed to persuade a girl that she needs to date. Friends, internet, books, films, television shows and …even church! Yes, church. With the number of programmes being organized weekly on ‘relationships’. At a point, you begin to wonder if indeed you are not queer. And then to cap it all, at the end of the year, during school or department programmes, awards are given to the ‘best couples’. Right under the watch of lecturers and the rest of the departments!
The question is ” Why are we in a rush?”. We surrender to the mindset of wanting to have a journey of 20 years completed in two days. C’mon things don’t have to be that way. Let’s take our little to time to analyse how these things work.

It’s just a game.

Just in case you don’t know, dating in school is a game and it becomes all the more interesting when the girl moves into the guy’s house while in school. The fact that a few of these relationships survive the hurdles and continue for a while longer or end in marriage does not change anything. It is a game. To most boys, dating is like football game. They are either playing home or away. They always have the mindset of winning. Even when a girl moves into a boy’s house, she becomes the home game and away games will still happen, even in the same hostel. When a girl allows a boy to move into her house, her house becomes a home game and his house is another home and he can add away to it.

Ladies will think like ladies, seeking security, love, warmth, a shoulder and a desire to show her friends that she is ok. Most ladies don’t think like guys and we end up losing. This is it; you start by spending time with him, then a few nights in his house. You cook, wash, clean, do assignments where you can and cater. At night, whatever happens is history. Naturally, this kind of situation builds a great ‘mirage’ of bond in the girl’s head. He even begins to look after his friends who acknowledge her in school and treat her specially. Hello Sweetheart, that’s not it. You are just a pawn and he’s playing a game. First is that he has found someone to do his chores and serve his desires. Then one day, you finally move in. Now, you cook whenever he wants you to and you do whatever he wants, playing wife when you are not anywhere near that. Your singular most urgent prayer is that your parents do not come unannounced one day and see the mess you are making of their efforts. You become extra careful not to offend him and some even go to the extent of financing the affair. It’s your food, your rent, your transport fare and you even buy him drinks and clothes and it won’t be long before you start churning out ingenious ways of swindling your family for money. Most of us tend to forget where we are coming from and endanger the pride we carry in us as women. We just follow the trend because that’s what we see on our T. V screen and that is what our immediate society dictates and approves as being appropriate.
This reminds me of a very smart guy I knew while in the College of Education. He was so ahead in his game because his girlfriend was trying to act smart, keeping him close and away from other girls. He moved into the girl’s house, as she wanted, which is unlike the trend we are familiar with, but he cheated on her every day. He would take the girls to his own house which the girl was unaware that he retained. The whole situation dawned on her when the guy ended up impregnating some other girl and dumped her and moved on and abandoned her after two abortions. Stories like this abound.

Some girls are plain stupid. There was also one who forced himself so much on a boy that she moved in and practically ran his life. On his birthday, she held a party for him despite his protestations, and sat in an exalted seat as the ‘olori’. Soon after, it was time for exams and the boy discovered she had spent her fees on the party. Her calculations were that some money would come by but this did not happen. During the first exam, she stood outside while the boy sat inside writing the exam. News filtered to a lecturer who was quite miffed with what she heard. The lecturer went into the exam room and confronted the boy. The young man knelt on both knees and lifted both hands in supplication. What he explained sounded like this:

“Ma, I know my boundaries and I don’t ever cross them. I asked her when she was forcing the party on me but she said it was not her fees. She told me not to worry and so we had the party. Now I am confused but I have to do what my parents sent me here for. I have been considering finding an extra booklet somehow and writing for her but I am too afraid to try that.”

The other thing I want to say about school dating is that we lose.

Just like every game, someone loses and someone wins. Now, in a dating game who’s more likely to lose? During the whole time the highest a guy can give out is his money, room, time and bed, most of which are things he already has and also shares. I have seen girls give up their classes because their boyfriends told them he wants to see them. I have also seen girls miss tests, travel away from school, willingly give their tuition fees all because she wants to prove her love to her man. There’s a particular girl I met recently, who was in her second year when her boyfriend ‘begged’ her to lend him her school fees so he could get a new phone and she gave him the money. Guess she did that out of ‘love’ but we both know it was not really love, she’s just gullible. Even if it was love from her part, what kind of love makes a guy take his girlfriend’s tuition to buy a phone?

Awwwwuu! Am I sounding harsh? Well, the result now is the girl is proudly a drop-out and ‘our sharp guy’ is still in school attending classes and of course, he got himself a prettier girl. Don’t be judgemental about this, the girl really toyed with her future and she got the result. Remember she had the option of saying NO but she never did. I beg of you girls, WAKE UP, take this as a wake-up call. If he isn’t married to you, anything can still GO WRONG. Far more things can go wrong than can go right.

Most girls tend to forget that the female body easily gets worn out, and before you know it, guys will look down at you and say “she has been used”. Even the same set of guys that contributed to the whole ‘thing’ will spit the same sentence. Always remember, No matter what happens, it’s always going to be about you and no one else, because it’s your life and not his. Let’s not forget we are in a society where accusations are directed to women, no matter what happens. The God of a second chance is a man’s God. A girl with a child and no husband has no sympathy from society, even from the family of the boy who impregnated her. A divorcee carries all manners of social stigma and except she is strong and independent, life is misery. You decide to punish the man and keep the child away from him, once the child is grown, he/she will yearn for that father than has been missing.
I know you are yearning to prove me wrong and tell me exceptions. If you build your future on exceptions, I will be here to write about you. Meantime, I challenge you to write a rejoinder. EduDigest assures that it will be published.
Meantime, young woman, get some sense!

The journalist has called on appropriate authorities to attend to the anomaly before the stench emenating from the region leads to an outbreak of diseases in the region.

'On Friday, I have the privilege of being the first journalist to visit, Imota Cemetery of horror. Hope this picture can go viral and force government to find a solution before the breakout of an epidemic'

Education / MAPOLY Set To Turn Degree-awarding Insitution by CEO1(m): 3:01pm On Dec 31, 2016
Strong indications emerged on Thursday that the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta may become a University of Technology next year.

The state governor, Senator ibikunle Amosun was said to have submitted a letter for a law to make MAPOLY a degree-awarding institution

It was gathered that state governor has presented a bill before the state house of Assembly requesting that MAPOLY be turned into a degree awarding institution.
It was further gathered that, the letter sent by the governor to the Assembly was dated December 20, 2016.
The decision, according to the findings was ratified by the state Executive Council after which the Assembly was notified on the need for a law to be enacted for the smooth process towards making MAPOLY a degree-awarding institution.
This bill which was sent alongside another letter requesting for the establishment of the state Polytechnic, Ipokia was read by the Speaker of the house Hon Suraaj Adekunbi at the plenary.
According to the speaker, the correspondence dated 20th of December was forwarded to the house by Mr Governor.
The Speaker, who read the letter at the plenary to the lawmakers quoted the governor to have written” I forward here with this for a law to provide for the establishment of Moshood Abiola University of Technology and matters of administration and discipline of students connected there with and law to provide for the establishment, incorporation and function of the Ogun state Polytechnic, Ipokia.
He added, ”For other matters incidental there to or connected there with as approved at the 51st state executive council held on 19 December 2016 for the kind consideration and passage of the house of Assembly, Please accept the assurances as always of my highest regard.”
It will be recalled that the Rector of the Polytechnic Prof. Oludele Itiola recently told the state house of Assembly that the Polytechnic needs N40 million for the institution to be turned into a degree awarding institution.
The academic don said this during the defence of the 2017 appropriation bill of the institution before the lawmakers.

Celebrities / Nigerians Celebrities Who Didn't Shine This Year by CEO1(m): 1:52pm On Dec 31, 2016
Below is a list of artistes whose stars didn't shine in 2016

1. Omawumi

Not just a few believed Omawunmi would excel going by her performance during the Idols reality show that shot her into limelight in 2007. She has cemented her name as an achiever and force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian entertainment scene. Her sophomore album, ‘Lasso of Truth,’ which was released in 2015 was said to be a commercial success. Omawumi managed to break that jinx where just male artistes had held sway in the music scene for a long time.

But fast forward to 2016, not much was heard from the singer musically. Thank God for social media anyway, but for Instagram where the babe would always post one or two stuff, her presence would have dwindled considerably.

Yes, she managed to release a song with Grammy Award winner, Angelique Kidjo but did it have a very positive impact in her career in 2016? No!

Anyway, fans still love her and hope that not only would she change her hairstyle in 2017, she would also come up with better and bigger hits.

2. Waje

And like her bestfriend Omawumi, Waje was almost pushed to the background this year.

Save for ‘The Voice Nigeria’ which kind of kept her busy as a judge in the reality show, Waje’s impact in the music scene was almost insignificant.

Waje has been busier on social media than in the studio this year. Yes, fans got to know more about her grown up daughter and her cool dresses which she proudly showed off every now and then. And of course, she also proudly showed off her figure as she transformed from a plus-sized babe to a much trimmer lady.

The last time Waje released her self-titled album was in May 2013. The album was critically acclaimed but ever since then, she has been releasing single tracks.

This year, the music diva has been able to release only one track which she titled ‘Ominiknowest.’

It was once reported that the singer planned to take a four year break from music. So the question is, has she started the hiatus?

3. Chidinma

Chidinma ‘Miss Kedike’ Ekile is a typical example of the expression that great things come in small packages.

The Project Fame winner started strong after the competition winning any award that she was nominated for. One of such milestone awards is the Kora and she was the first female musician to get to the number one spot on the MTV Base top ten countdown. With her trailblazing success, she won the admiration of many as several celebrities have openly confessed that they have a crush on the petite damsel.

The girl didn’t allow her small frame to deter her from conquering the music industry. But that was long ago.

This year, Chidinma was busier arousing people’s curiosity as to whether she is dating artiste, Flavour or not especially when she deleted all the pictures on her social media page save for hers and Flavour’s.

It seems that the star is fast fizzling out of the industry. Not much has been heard from the singer musically this year. Her recent song, ‘Fall in Love,’ which she released some weeks ago does not have the same buzz that always characterises songs.

So many fans expect Chidinma to wake up in 2017.

4. D’banj

‘Oh, how the mighty has fallen’ would certainly be the expression on so many peoples’ minds especially when they think of the self-acclaimed entertainer and Kokomaster, D’banj.

With his ‘nothing-dey-happen’ attitude since he broke up from his partner and friend Don Jazzy, D’banj has yet to make any strong impact musically.

But thank God for his song ‘Emergency’ which was released early in the year, it was a good work and so many people felt D’banj had finally survived the break-up.

Alas, his ‘Focus,’ ‘If no be God,’ ‘Breaking New’ and ‘Gifted’ didn’t make any impact at all. D’banj needs to step up his game in 2017, otherwise his career would land in Emergency Room!

5. Iyanya

Well, thank God for ‘Krukere,’ nobody would have known Iyanya apart from the fact that he was a sensation at the then Project Fame competition.

Another thing that stood him out is his sexy body which makes ladies- old and young – go wild! But how has that affected his career in 2016?

His controversial exit from Ubi Franklin’s Triple M Records made more headlines than the release of his following songs, ‘Type of woman,’ ‘Nothing Mega,’ ‘Yoga song,’ ‘Sukumma,’ ‘Why,’ and ‘Heartbeat.’ Just a handful of people would have ‘felt’ the songs.

With his new marriage to Don Jazzy’s Mavin, who knows, 2017 might be a better year as hopefully, the ace producer would give Iyanya his Midas Touch.

6. Wande Coal

It seems Wande Coal found his sound late this year with the new song, ‘Iskaba,’ which he released few weeks ago. Before then, nothing much was heard from the young man. His first album, ‘Mushin to Mo’hit’ was a collector’s item but his sophomore album, ‘Wanted,’ which was released in 2015 was not really wanted by a lot of people as many have described the album as a flop.

Hopefully 2017 would be better for the dreadlock wearing singer.

Education / Nigerian Master Degree Holder Shares Experience, Says He Never Give Up After Wri by CEO1(m): 1:25pm On Dec 30, 2016
My Story
After my secondary education, I decided to further my studies.
I wrote the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th JAMB exams and they were all cancelled. I decided to take the bull by the horn. I went to Enugu State University for a pre-degree program. On the completion of the program, I was offered a course in faculty of Science but the cultism in the institution as at then was unbearable for me, having being attacked twice. I decided to use the 5th JAMB that was released to study at University of Port Harcourt. Then ASUU had a protracted strike that lasted for over six months, I needed to write a 6th JAMB and I scored 274 but that score couldn’t offer me admissions as the two JAMBS were combined because the strike entered another year. After the first 6yrs at home, WAEC too was cancelling my results and I wrote WAEC/NECO four times. I was frustrated, mocked, criticized and called a failure. Some of my classmates were already youth Corpers. Many out of pity told me to quit because school wasn’t for me. The criticisms, mockery and name calling from people that didn’t know what I was passing through compounded my issues and I started thinking of quitting/suicide.

One evening, my brother in-law/mentor told me “Ogechi nobody can frustrate or determine the outcome of your life except you, don’t quit trying, you’ll be whatever you want to be” I repeated that to myself over a hundred times that night and I assumed the position of a CEO in my life.

I enrolled for another pre-degree program in University of Port Harcourt, and wrote the 7th JAMB and it was also canceled but thank God I passed the BASIC program. So to gain admissions to do a bachelors program, I wrote JAMB 7times, WAEC/NECO 4times and Pre-degree 2times.

However, when I finally entered University, I passed Rivers State government scholarship exams to study abroad but few weeks to departure, another government took over in 2007 and cancelled the scholarship. But I told myself I must study in Nigeria and abroad…..
People called me a failure but, I don’t know if I am still a failure, if school is for me now or not, or if am still bewitched as people said……………………………………………….

All I can remember now is that I have done BSc in Nigeria, Masters in Safety and Environmental Management in UK, have seven additional professional certifications, qualified as a Chartered Environmentalist in UK and have worked both in Nigeria & Scotland.

I have learnt that setbacks are actually strongholds in disguise if we don’t quit trying.
I have learnt that persistence wears off every resistance.
I have also learnt as a Christian that if your faith says Yes, God won’t say No, only be

DETERMINED.

I give God ALL the glory and shame to the devil.
