The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi buried his garndmother, Olori Mariam Ogunwusi in Ayegbaju Ile Ife, Osun State on Saturday.The king was represented by his wife, Olori Wuraola Itohan Ogunwusi. The funeral service was attended by family and friends. The three sisters of the monarch Princess Folashade, Princess Adesola and Princess Adebimpe, stood out in royal blue lace.

The Nassarawa state police command has arrested one Okala Jo­seph for shooting his wife, Helen Precious, over disagreement on the number of children he wanted them to have. According to The Sun, Okala shot his wife in front of his mother in-law at her farm in Ninda village, Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State on April 4th.

The state commissioner of police, Lawal Shehu who spoke on the incident, said Okala had accused his wife of aborting their babies after she refused to give him more children. This had caused a big problem between the couple as Okala demanded that his wife bore him more children. Things between the couple came to a sad end on April 4th after Okala, wearing a mask, stormed his mother in-law's farm and shot his 18 year old wife in front of her mother and sister. He tried to run away after committing the crime but was quickly apprehended by officers at the Garaku Police station.

When interrogated, John said

“My wife denied me going to school. My father warned me against marrying her rather I should go to school. Since my late wife insisted that I must marry her. I have to deny my fa­ther and abandon my education to marry my late wife in 2013. I was blessed with one kid, a baby boy. My late wife has been preg­nant for me but she would abort the pregnancy, she has done the abortion severally. It was the senior brother of my wife who came on December 25, 2015 and packed my wife’s luggage and took her away from my house, we have been quarreling over the matter. It was April 4, 2016 around 2:00pm I went to Nindama village, my wife’s mother’s village and met them in the farm; I went in anger and took my dane gun and shot my wife dead in the present of her mother and I wanted to escaped before the policemen arrested me. I never regret killing my wife, she has denied me education. I am a farmer in Angwan Sarki village and I am struggling to have a better life" he said.

A relative of the deceased who spoke on the incident said

“The man has been maltreat­ing our daughter. We had to send her elder brother to pack her luggage from the hus­band’s house on December 25, 2015. Suddenly we saw the husband in my mother’s farm with his wife and he shot her dead without a reason. We want justice to be done. The policemen have released our daughter’s corpse to us and we have buried her on April 8, 2016.”

Okala will soon be charged to court for culpable homicide.

Nollywood Actor, Nosa Rex and three of his friends survived a ghastly car accident while traveling to Benin city on Sunday April 10th. He shared these photos on his Instagram page and wrote

"5:30 pm Sunday evening ...we got to agbor on our way to benin ... Dis accident happened ... Long story but God kept us all ... My X-ray result is out no broken bones so I can walk ... Thank God .... Shaggy has no brain injuries .. Thank God. Omalicha had no strong chest issues thank Jesus ... Roy is getting better .... God is great ... Am a living proof. .... We doing great now ..."

The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade today granted amnesty to 153 inmates of the Kirikiri Maximum and Medium prison. 24 of the inmates were released from the Maximum prison while 129 of them were from the Medium prison.



Three of the inmates granted amnesty have been standing trial for over 15 years. Among the 129 inmates released from the Medium prison, 79 were standing trial for capital offences while 50 were standing trial for minor offences.

Two fully grown men have been caught on camera exchanging serious blows in a filling station as fuel scarcity continues to bite hard at Nigerians.

The two men were seen digging it out with each other at a fuel station in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.

The fight reportedly ensued after both men spent a frustratingly long day queueing for fuel.

Witnesses say one man tried to edge his ahead of the other and withut warning the other man lashed out at him and a fight broke out.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today, April 7, 2016 arraigned five staff of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) before Justice Kuewumi Babs of the Federal High Court Lagos on 21- count charge of conspiracy, forgery and money laundering.

The accused persons are Ibrahim Abdulsalam, managing director of the agency; Nnamdi Udoh, former managing director (still at large),Adegorite Olumuyiwa, general manager, procurement;
Agbolade Segun, general manager, finance; Clara Aliche, director finance; Joy Ayodele Adegorite, Randville Investment Limited and Multeng Travels and Tours Limited. The accused persons are alleged to have conspired and stole the sum of N6, 922,676,815 (Six Billion, Nine Hundred and Twenty Two Million, Six Hundred and Seventy Six Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifteen Naira ) from NAMA. Troubles began for the accused persons after the Commission received a petition accusing some management staff of NAMA of engaging in acts of grand corruption.



A team of Operatives were assigned to investigate the matter where it was discovered that the accused persons allegedly stole the said monies through fictitious procurement contracts, fictitious container clearing and fraudulent cash advances. One of the charge reads that: "you, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, Nnamdi Udoh (still at large) Adegorite Olumuyiwa, Agbolade Segun, Clara Aliche, Joy Ayodele Adegorite, Randville Investment Limited and Multeng Travels and Tours Limited, on or about the 19th day of August, 2013 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud conspired amongst yourselves to induce the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to deliver the sum of N2,847,523,975.00 (Two Billion, Eight Hundred and Forty Seven Million, Five Hundred and Twenty Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Five Naira) to Delosa Limited, Air Sea Delivery Limited and Sea Schedules Systems Limited under the pretense that the said sum represented the cost of clearing consignments belonging to the said Agency and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 8 (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under section 1 (3) of the same Act”.

When the charge was read to them, the accused persons pleaded not guilty. In view of their plea, prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, asked the court for a trial date and to remand the accused persons in prison custody. However counsel for the first accused person O. Oshoogun pleaded with the court to remand his client in the EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application.

All other defence counsel aligned themselves with Oshoogun in urging the court to remand their clients in the custody of the Commission. In his response, Oyedepo told the court that the proper place to remand accused persons was prison custody. He further added that the detention facility of the Commission was overstretched. Justice Babs upheld the submission of the prosecution and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody while adjourning the matter to April 12, 2016 for hearing of bail applications.

In a recent interview with French newspaper, Le Monde, former Minister for Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said her fight against the fraud being carried out through the subsidy regime while she was minister, led to the kidnap of her 83 years old mother.

Okonjo-Iweala said she had asked former president Goodluck Jonathan to remove the subsidy regime after the massive corruption in it was uncovered.

She said when her mother was kidnapped, all the kidnappers demanded was for her to resign.

“I told the president that we would stop paying(subsidy). What happened? They kidnapped my mother, 83 years. During the first three days, their only demand was my resignation. I was supposed to go on television and announce my resignation. This was one of the worst moments of my life. Can you imagine what happens in your head if you have to be responsible for the death of your mother? I will not go into details, but you must understand that in a country like this… in the fight against corruption, we must be prepared to pay a personal price. My father asked me not to resign. The president asked me not to resign. At the end, everyone began looking for her, and the kidnappers released her”‎she said

According to Okonjo-Iweala, state governors were opposed to saving the money realised during the oil boom in the past administration

"‎When I was finance minister the first time, the volatility of oil prices, and therefore state resources, cost at least three points of growth in the country. We then established a stabilization mechanism and opened an account for the oil surplus, which posted up to $22 billion. In 2008, when prices fell from 148 to $ 38 a barrel, no one heard of Nigeria because the country was able to tap into this fund. And that, I am very proud of. When I returned to the department in 2011, there remained only $4 billion on this account while the price of oil was very high! I tried again to put money aside. The president agreed, but the governors did not accept. I suffered a lot of attacks from them and now that the country would really need this account, these same people accuse me of not having saved! If Nigeria had been more careful, we would not be here today. It hurts me"she said.

A man was shot dead during a fight at a fuel station on 21 road Festac town this morning. According to twitter user, @switmode who shared the photos online, residents of the area are alleging that a female Civil Defence officer shot the man. Burn fire have been setup in the area as many of the youths are demanding the arrest of the female officer. Photo of the dead man after the cut.

CBN Gov. Emefiele donates all gifts received at his mother’s funeral to motherless babies homes




Just before he left Delta on Sunday, a day after burying his mother in a modest “Made in Nigeria” ceremony in Agbor, CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele paid spontaneous visits to a couple of motherless babies and charity homes in Delta where he donated all the gifts he received from friends and well wishers.


According to the UnofficialCBN social media handles (Twitter: @UnofficialCBN | Facebook: Unofficial: Central Bank of Nigeria | Instagram: UnofficialCBN), each of the homes received a pick up van filled with assorted foods and gifts including bags of rice, vegetable oil, milk, drinks, beans, onions, garri, spaghetti, cooking condiments and chickens. He also donated a cow each to the homes.

All through her adult life in her small Agbor community, the deceased Alice Emefiele, 94, endeared herself to her people by constantly giving and supporting the less privileged. In her honour, the family has launched the Alice Emefiele Foundation to continue her good work.

A wedding ceremony taking place at Takoradi Aldersgate Methodist Church in the Sekondi/Anaji, Ghana on Saturday, April 2, 2016 was cut short after policemen stormed the church's premises and arrested the bridegroom over suspected armed robbery. The arrest is in connection with a robbery case at Aniamote, a community in the Wassa Amenfi District in the Western region.

The 30-year-old suspect Aaron Ackah,(pictured) is alleged to have robbed a Chinese Small Scale Miner of an amount of Gh¢18,000 after inflicting knife wounds on his left hand.



A civilian, who led the police to the wedding venue at West Anaji told Starr News’ Western regional correspondent, Emmanuel Ohene Gyan the couple had just completed the exchange of vows and were about wearing their rings when two plain-clothed police officers from Bogoso stormed the place and whisked the bridegroom away after using one of the invitation cards to confirm his identity.

The joy that had filled the venue of the ceremony was cut short as many of the shocked guests started crying and wailing. The bride, Rebecca Buah, was reported to have collapsed after her groom was arrested. The suspect has since been taken to Prestea for further investigation.

This morning at about 6:05am on Abiku Oki street in Marina, a group of men totaling five robbed a fashion store that sells men clothing accessory. They succeeded in breaking into the store but security men chased them and managed to catch one. Left is one of the armed bandits caught...and right is the security guy who attempted to stop them and injuries he sustained.

In what will come across as perhaps the most shocking case of incest in recent times, a woman has proudly gotten pregnant by her own son.


The woman posted the photo above showing her posing with her underage 15-year-old son and then followed it up with an explanation.

“For those who don’t know, me and my 15 year old son had a baby last year together. I had sex with him when he was 14 years old.

"The baby came out fine. Just to let you know I also have three (3) daughters who are thirteen(13) fourteen(14) and sixteen(16).
"My son is a great dad and also a great boyfriend to me. This all started when I realized that I was having feelings for him. I decided to have a one on one talk with him. I told him 'mommy loves you more than what it means to just be a mommy to you' I also told him that “mommy likes you just like how a girl from school likes you.'

"I explained everything to him and got him to understand and he felt the same way as I did as he began to ask questions. He asked “so does that mean that we can kiss and hold hands like boyfriend and girlfriend?”I told him yes and even sex.

17 year old Elizabeth Shima, has been declared missing by her family. She's about 5ft.6inch tall and fair in complexion. She left her house which is on the campus of University of Ibadan staff quarters on the 29th March, to go make her hair off campus and has not been seen since then.
