Pictured above is the Governor of Anambra state, Gov Willie Obiano at the funeral mass of the father, mother and son that died in a ghastly motor accident in Awka on the 12th of July. Mr. Okechukwu Odinigwe, his wife and eldest son died when a trailer rammed into their car at Esther Obiakor Junction, Agu, Awka. They were buried yesterday and the mass held at St Antony's Catholic Church in Enugwu Ukwu.

May the souls of Okey Obidigwe, Uche Obidigwe and Richard Obidigwe rest in peace Amen! After the cut are pics of their surviving kids at the church.

18-year-old Nigerian Isaiah Ekpaloba (above) was stabbed to death in Wood Green, UK, after a fight with his friend Jaydee Dorsett (below) following what police believe was a dispute over drugs on 9th January, 2015.

Jaydee, 20, has now been found guilty of his murder and was sentenced to life yesterday, July 27th for murder and will serve a minimum of 12 years before he is eligible for parole. He was also sentenced to fours years for attempted wounding with intent.

According to the Police, the altercation which led to the murder began when Isaiah Ekpaloba and Lamont Roper (pictured above), 18, drove to Dorsett's house in Wood Green with the intention of robbing him of drugs.

Dorsett was also found guilty of attempted wounding of Lamont Roper. Meanwhile, Lamont was found guilty of conspiracy to rob Dorsett and sentenced to seven and a half years for conspiracy to rob and three and a half years for both counts of robbery.

Sacked Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is demanding N1billion compensation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for defaming him. According to Vanguard, Keshi has dragged the NFF to court for “wrongful dismissal and defamation”. A top source told said

“Keshi’s lawyers have demanded for a billion Naira from the NFF as compensation for defaming their client.”

A letter from Keshi's lawyers was sent to NFF on Friday July 24th. Keshi was sacked by the NFF on July 5 just four months after he'd signed a new two-year contract to coach the Super Eagles.

While in the US, president Buhari criticized the Leahy Law - a U.S. human rights law that prohibits the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense from providing military assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights. Reacting, the sponsor of the Law, US Senator Patrick Leahy (the law is named after him) said Buhari is misguided in his criticism as the law, which has so far stopped the US govt from assisting Nigeria in the war against Boko Haram, can't be blamed for the atrocities committed by the 'murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military'.

“It is well-documented by the State Department and by respected human rights organisations that Nigerian army personnel have, for many years, engaged in a pattern and practice of gross violations of human rights against the Nigerian people and others, including summary executions of prisoners, indiscriminate attacks against civilians, torture, forced disappearances and rape.
Rarely have the perpetrators been prosecuted or punished. This abusive conduct not only violates the laws of war, it creates fear and loathing among the Nigerian people whose support is necessary to defeat a terrorist group like Boko HaramPresident Buhari ignores the undisputed fact that most Nigerian army units have been approved, under the Leahy Law, for U.S. training and equipment.

Only those particular units against which there is credible evidence of the most heinous crimes are ineligible for U.S. aid. And even those units can again become eligible if the Nigerian Government takes effective steps to bring the responsible individuals to justice. I strongly agree with President Buhari about the need to defeat Boko Haram, and I have supported tens of millions of dollars in U.S. aid to Nigeria for that purpose. According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, tragedy was averted today July 17th at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) in Lagos following a ground collision of 2 aircraft belonging to FirstNation Airways.

Friday’s incident which happened at about mid-day involved two Airbus 330 conveying not fewer than 250 passengers. The two aircraft had their bodies partially damaged as a result of the collision. A source at the airport said one of the aircrafts was taxiing from the runway to MMA2, to disengage passengers while the other aircraft was preparing to take off to Port-Harcourt Airport from the same terminal.


The Port-Harcourt bound aircraft was parked at Gate 4 while the arriving aircraft was bound for the Gate 3 of the terminal. The source alleged that the pilot may have been misdirected by the marshals who misdirected the arriving aircraft to the same Gate as the parked aircraft which led to the two wings brushing each other. Following the incident, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), immediately, grounded both aircraft while passengers were asked to disembark by the airline. It was further gathered that the refunds of tickets were made to passengers on the Port-Harcourt bound aircraft by the airline.

The NCAA also confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Fan Ndubuoke. Ndubuoke said no passenger was hurt and that the incident had been referred to the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) for further investigation. He also reiterated NCAA’s commitment to safety and security of passengers.
