A Nigerian national identified as Arinze Eneh has been sentenced to 20 years in jail and fined Rp1.2 billion for facilitating narcotic drug distribution.

"Arinze was proven to have conspired to commit an evil act by becoming a facilitator in the distribution of Category I narcotic drug," chief judge of the West Jakarta district court, Bambang Mursito, said while reading out the verdict on Wednesday, May 18.



In view of that, the panel of judges that had considered all the facts disclosed during the sessions, sentenced the 38-year-old to 20 years in jail and imposed a fine of Rp1.2 billion. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve six months more in jail.



Upon hearing the verdict, the state prosecutor, Nugraha, said he was yet to make up his mind whether to accept it or not. The prosecutor had asked for a death sentence.

Through his lawyer, Arinze Petrus Eneh said he was satisfied with the judges decision but said he, too, has to decide whether to appeal.

"In principle, we are satisfied with the verdict. However, we would think and consider about appealing it," the lawyer, Dolfie Rompas, said.

Arinze alias Zona, along with Tuti Sudartika alias Dede Rosa and Rojali Pajar Saputra (the two were tried under different dossiers), were involved in a case of illegal possession of 6.3 kilograms of methamphetamine.


Arinze, who is currently being held at Salemba Penitentiary in Central Jakarta in a narcotic case still under judicial process, was ordered by a man named John (still at large) to pick up narcotic drug from China and bring it to Indonesia.

He then asked Tuti and Rojali, (earlier informed by David, at large) to carry out the job. The drug, weighing 6.3 kilograms, was smuggled in a thermos flask through a Covenant Logistic expedition in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, and then kept in a kiosk in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java.

The state prosecutor has charged all the suspects with violation of Law Number 35 of 2009 on narcotics because they attempted to commit an evil act of smuggling a narcotic substance by becoming facilitators in the distribution of drugs and therefore deserved a death penalty.

Man who followed rescued Chibok girl to the state house is her brother, not her abductor - Presidency clarifies


According to the presidency, the man who followed Amina Nkeki to the state house is her elder brother and not the Boko Haram predator who got her pregnant. Also, Amina is the only surviving female in a family of 13. She is not the only child of her family as was earlier speculated.

Newshelm, I write for you to speak for us! I have for the past 5 days been unable to enjoy any display of my GOtv decoder and when I asked a couple of friends around my area (ogba, Ikeja), its the same and this has gone for 5 days unattended! The customer care dont even have any explanation to what is happening... All they say is restart your decoder, move your antena to a higher place....


This is pure madness and its so because they know Nigerians wont talk and our government will never act!!! If they will not fix their problems, let the pause my sub cos i have not even used up to 2 days viewing my present sub..

Omawumi has finally opened up on her disastrous interview after appearing as a guest on “Da Chat” with Zinnia, a show produced by HF TV.

The “If You Ask Me” crooner has revealed that she has forgiven Zinnia for basically putting her morality to question after she had alleged that Omawumi is a smoker.

Omawumi had not surprised anyone when she had stormed out of the interview set after being asked about the effect of her smoking in public, knowing that she is a role model to many.
The singer who had been visibly upset, had asked the interviewer for proof that she smoked, of which Zinnia could not produce any
Omawumi has now revealed that although she is upset, she has decided to let the incident go, as she just wants to have fun rather than attend rehearsals.

Up and coming actress, Ruth Eze became a popular face in the Nollywood industry not too long ago and the babe has not been doing badly.

However, when she was credited to have said in an interview that actress, Genevieve Nnaji, makes her wet, Ruth automatically was tagged a lesbian.

But the actress, who has denied saying such in the interview, claims she meant Genevieve is her role model who she admires greatly.

Ruth added that the singular controversial interview ruined her four-year old relationship.

“I am not a lesbian and I can never be a lesbian. My mother is a devout Christian and she is an evangelist. I can never be a lesbian. I lost a four-year old relationship because of that interview. I never said that; all I said in the interview was that I love Genny very much and I still love her till date. I don’t care about what anybody says. What if it was published later in my career that I was caught in bed with a man and the story turned out to be false eventually? It means he would leave me and my kids when I get married to him. I should not marry someone like that. I have been tagged a controversial actress and you have to stand by me and if you cannot, then you have to go.

Ruth said her ex was not so comfortable with her job.

“He didn’t really have so much issue with my job but whenever I went for a red carpet event and stayed late, he wouldn’t like it. Whenever he was in the country and I stayed out late, he wouldn’t like it. He is based in London. He had issues with anything that kept me out late at night. It is somebody that got married to the likes of Omotola and Chioma Chukwuka. Those are people I look up to.”

Ruth has not ruled out love as she said she is still looking for that man that would capture her heart and love her for who she is.

“God is going to give me that person that would bear everything with me. I am single. I just want a cool and responsible guy. Someone that is not loud and must be God fearing.

“When it is tough, it is getting better; that is how my mother trained me. It is my career and it is something I love. Anything in life that is going to be good and great comes with a lot of sacrifice,” she said.

Meanwhile, the babe also said her dream is to become a politician even as she is passionate about her acting career.

“When I have got to the peak of my career and have achieved a lot in acting, I am going to become a politician. I love politics. I have a lot to offer. In fact, I just wrote a letter to my governor telling him that I want to be his special adviser on youth development. Look at what I did on Valentine’s Day, I went to feed the beggars on the street, the pictures are on my Instagram page. This is why I want to be a politician; it is for the poor and the youth and not for the money. The money would come but I would use it to pursue my passion which is to feed the poor and take care of the youth. When I went to the rural areas to feed the poor, at a point I was crying. You need to see the way they were rushing the food and at a point, they tore my leggings. They are hungry. So that is my passion and the reason I want to become a politician,” she said.

Two persons were confirmed dead in a fire outbreak at A. A Rano filling station along Bompai road, Kano State on Wednesday, May 4. The incident occurred after fire erupted from a fuel tanker and spread to some nearby buildings, razing properties worth millions of naira.


"The tanker was offloading fuel when the hose got disconnected and fuel spilled on the ground. The next thing we saw was fire and explosion which made us to run for safety," an eyewitness Yahaya Mohammed, told Daily Trust.

Confirming the incident, the Head of Crisis Management of the Nigerian Security and Civil Corps, Kano Command, Alhaji Abdullahi Salisu, said that when they got a distress call, they immediately mobilized their men to the scene.

The meeting held by the Federal Executive Council yesterday produced some successful decisions which aim at changing the country for the better and improving standards of living and of the economy.


The Meeting presided over by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, reached the following concluding decisions.



1. The Executive arm is expecting the final copy of the 2016 budget from the National Assembly for the President’s assent today.



2. The FEC approved a 34 strategic priority programmes to be realized within 2016.



3. The country will attain self-sufficiency in rice production by 2018, in tomato paste 2016 and also increase local production of maize, soya beans, poultry and livestock.



4. The federal government is planning to optimize up to 7,000 megawatts installed capacity and to ensure the associated infrastructure to ensure transmission and distribution.



5. The National Rail Masterplan is currently under review and the Kaduna-Abuja-Ajaokuta railway lines will be completed in 2016.



6. The FEC set a three-year deadline to achieve self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products and to become a net exporter of petroleum products.



7. 5,000 primary health centres in 5,000 wards will be rehabilitated in 2016.

State governors are still spending billions of naira from public funds on foreign trips in the name of seeking foreign investors, despite the cash crunch facing their states.

Some of them, whom are still owing up-to 3 to 5 months workers' salaries expended state funds on junketing overseas in search of foreign investors.



The least traveled governors include:

Abdulfatah Ahmed - Kwara State – said to have traveled only once since May 2015.

Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe, was in China on September 1, 2015 and rarely traveled outside the shore of Nigeria except to Saudi Arabia to perform lesser hajj.

MTN Nigeria is gearing for a 4G LTE network rollout in selected cities by July 2016, following the acquisition of LTE-suitable frequencies in the 800MHz band earlier this year via the takeover of CDMA network operator Visafone Communications.


MTN Nigeria’s CEO Ferdinand Moolman disclosed that MTN has started the process of migrating all of Visafone subscribers onto its network so that it could vacate the 800MHz frequency band and start rolling out LTE.



The executive was cited as saying: “It delayed our capital expenditure rollout during the first quarter a little bit because we needed to realign some of our CAPEX towards the LTE rollout. We started the migration of the subscribers and we hope to conclude that soon. The plans are to have commercial LTE available towards the end of the second quarter, maybe early Q3 2016, albeit very limited, and then start expanding this towards … the first quarter of next year.”


MTN is aiming to have roughly 1,500 LTE collocated sites backhauled with fibre-optics by year-end. Meanwhile, MTN Group’s Chief Operating Officer Jyoti Desai said that the company undertook a detailed analysis of MTN Nigeria’s data usage in order to determine the most suitable locations for 4G rollouts: “We looked at the handset ecosystem and revenue opportunity and have identified some of the major cities.”


In January 2016, MTN finalised the acquisition of Lagos-based Visafone, reportedly paying N47.5 billion ($238.7 million) to obtain its assets (including spectrum in the 800MHz band and roughly 2.1 million subscribers) in order to strengthen its position in the Nigerian wireless broadband market.

Former international footballer, George Weah will run for president of Liberia for a second time. He said he had the “vision” to transform the country.

Mr Weah, who played for teams including Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Chelsea, was the highest-ranking African footballer in Fifa’s list of greatest players of the 20th century.

His previous presidential bid, in 2005, was defeated by current president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Her second term in office will end in 2017 and under the country’s constitution she cannot run again.

During his football career, Mr Weah became a UN goodwill ambassador. Later he turned to politics. He is currently a senator for the western province of Montserrado, which includes the capital Monrovia.
In 2011 he ran for vice-president under Winston Tubman but did not win. Mr Weah belongs to the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) party.

Announcing his presidential bid in Monrovia, he said he had been a “victim of poverty” like many of his supporters, and said he would boost vocational education.

The Kadauna state governor attended the 7th edition of the monthly town hall meeting in Kachia Local Government.
He was able to have first and close contact with the local people and they were able to express the satisfaction and dsipleasure for some governmental policies as it affects them..


The Governor said "We are calling on the good people of Kachia to correct us whenever we make mistakes and From our 2016 budget, our priorities are centered towards healthcare, education and youth empowerment and that we aim to continue..."
