I haven't seen an approval in a long while...what's happening? V.O aren't smiling this time...may God be with us.

Thanks to Almighty God that helped me throughout this pursuit. My Story is a long one but I will like to share my transcript with you here.

First interview
Delayed
VO: good morning
Me: good morning
VO: can you pass me your documents
Me: sure
VO: can you tell me about your application process
Me: Immediately after my undergraduate studies due to my passion for graduate school I proceed to research gate where I got to know about Prof Honglan of MS&T and Prof Sarah Green of MTU and Nadine Kabengi of GSU whose work coincides my interest and I write to them and they encourage me to apply in which I did by submitting my academic transcript and my GRE Score in which I had a score of 310.

Long silence.....

VO: so why did you choose MS&T
Me: coupled with the fact that I was given a full funding that covers my entire cost of attendance
VO (cuts in): How will you be covering the deficit
Me ( my mind skipped): there's no deficit ma, check well the funding covers the expenses
VO (shout back): what was stated here is 50% assistantship, can you show me a proof of your assistantship letter
Me: I passed it
VO: keeps typing and eventually disapprove the application

Second Interview
VO: good morning
Me: good morning
VO: can you pass me your documents
Me: sure
VO: Why MS&T
Me: coupled with the fact that I was given a full funding which covers my entire cost of attendance, Prof Honglan works on waste water treatment which is a continuation to my undergraduate studies
VO: What will you be doing with this degree
Me: This degree will equip me with the resqusite skills to pick up a job of lead research scientist at FEPA
VO: how are you sure you'll be getting the Job
Me: which kind question is this again but I opened my mouth and tell her that my current boss works with the ministry of environment and she's a consultant so definitely I'll be getting the Job
VO: okay I saw that you have funding which covers your expenses but 50% assistantship was stated here did you have a spreadsheet that shows the breakdown
Me: haaa. Okay, I don't have spread sheet but I have a graduate offer letter
VO: turned it down and eventually declined the visa

Third Interview

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning
Me: How are you
VO: Fine can you pass me your documents
Me : Sure
VO: why MS&T
Me: due to the fact that MS&T is one of the leading research universities in environmental related issues, I will be working with Prof Honglan whose research is a continuation of my undergraduate project which I worked on adsorption method but Prof Honglan will be working on development of nanoadsorbent
VO: who'll be funding the studies
Me: I got a full scholarship from the department in terms of GRA
VO: but I saw 50% assistantship here
Me: yes the assistantship is a 50% full time employment which covers my expenses, I have my offer letter here. ( I slide it to her immediately) I also have a funding calculator from the Graduate office can I pass it over
VO: no need
VO: so how did you get this assistantship
Me: I wrote a graduate record examination in which I had a score of 310, can I pass the report sheet to you
VO: no, so what will you be doing with this degree
Me: I will be coming back to Nigeria to fill up the vacuum of lead research analyst at FEPA where I did my undergraduate internship in conjunction with UI and I was awarded as one of the best intern, so with this recommendations and degree I'll be able to get the Job
Vo: it's enough.. Long silence...
Me: kilotunde bayiiii, answer me jare and let me go
Vo: are you married
Me: (so fast, not now) No
VO: I will be approving your visa .....
Me: ( I hope you are not talking to me) one small tears just drop for my eye, I quickly package my self and collect the white paper and waka jeje

sboj:
My visa was approved at the Lagos embassy on the 22nd of November 2019. I arrived at the embassy ahead of time for 8am appointment by 6:10 wearing a white shirt, a GOJ customized wine tie, blue trouser, brown belt and brown boots, I stood with bae at the parking lot, and she asked me questions from my proposed transcript which I answered.
Then a call was made for 8am appointment to form a queue, then proceeded for cgi confirmation. We were asked to seat at the pavilion, where we waited till 8:30, while waiting the person seated next to me started a conversation and that helped me stay relaxed.
We proceeded for security scan at the embassy building, same guy was in front of me, and then we did the 10 printing but while waiting on the long queue awaiting interview the cgi guy requested we all take a U-turn and take the 10 printing again.
All through this process my new friend was behind me and we kept talking and smiling, fast forward to when I was at the front of the line, I was directed to window 1 where a young slim tall man was seated, my guy was directed to window 3. The 2 persons before me had their visa delayed and my heart was beating fast, then it was my turn. I stepped up and the following transpired:
Me: Good morning (in a very audible and confident tone looking at him in his eyes)
VO: Good morning, can I have your passport and I20
Me: Sure
He typed for some seconds and then opened my i20
VO: why are you going to America?
Me: I am going to the state of Maryland to study for a master’s degree in business finance at the University of Baltimore, after which I will be returning home to help actively with my family business and take my CFA exam.
VO: why this school?
Me: the school is staffed with faculties with whom I have share a mutual research interest in persons of Prof Joel Morse, Dry John Weiss and Dry Jerry Yu who are renewed entrepreneurship and investment researchers, the opportunity to learn under them will be beneficial for my development, the curriculum at UB help me prepare for the CFA exams and finally it fits my budget financially.
VO: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: Two
VO: Name them?
Me: University of Baltimore and Bentley University.
VO: I can see you have been to America on a j1 visa in 2018, where did you stay?
Me: west Yarmouth Cape cod
VO: where did you work?
Me: blue water resort at west Yarmouth about 15 mins ride.
VO: what position?
Me: I worked as a front desk officer, but moved to housekeeping to help during the busy period of the season when we were understaffed.
VO: who is paying for your trip?
Me: my dad
VO: what does he do?
He is the md of a bdc, petrochemical company, aluminum importer and a real estate developer (he cuts in asking me to call them again).
VO: so it is a conglomerate, what is his monthly income?
Me: yes, the mother company is Bleep Company. Currently his monthly income is 30 million (he saying seriously) yes, as his profit.
VO: can I see his bank statement?
Me: sure, passed it with a letter from the bank. He flips through the statement of over 100 pages for a while.
VO: I will be approving you visa, do you have your reciprocal fee here?
Me: thank you and yes with a big smile.

Tips:
-Guys the main reason students are mandated to appear for an interview is to for you to make a case and prove you will return home. Many students get their visa delayed because they don’t establish home ties even after defending the reason for the course and school perfectly. So from your first answer and at every available opportunity state your intention to return home.
-Never underestimate the power of fasting and prayer, it is a believer weapon. Try Isiah 40:31, Joshua 1v9, Mathew 6:25-34, Hebrew 11:1, Proverbs 3:5-6.3
-I have read of people undermining the power of been properly dressed, please don’t fall short o, wear a formal outfit (not a suit o) it shows seriousness and intention.
-Get a practice partner to ask you possible interview question, so you can work on your spoken answer and tone or stand in front of a mirror (I prefer this because it will help you work on maintaining eye contact).
-Do your research to provide a realistic answer for the questions why this course and why this university? And when you saying it say it like you mean it.
-All through the interview maintain eye contact and keep your head up even when the vo is typing.
-Your social media says a lot about you, from the moment of application please be intentional with what you post and comment on the internet.
-Remember the school deemed you fit for admission, so go to the embassy with all the confidence and show them why.

Thanks for the transcript. congratulations man

Hi Guys,

Went for my interview on Friday and I was denied.
The family before me was issued a pink slip and the woman was even begging; almost on her knees. I got nervous immediately but wasn't scared after all.

After passing my I-20 and passport.

VO: Why should you go to the US?
Me: I am going to Franklin University for my MBA degree.

VO: How long is this program going to take:
Me: 14 months

VO: On your I-20, its 3 years.

Wanted to explain that the regular program takes 14 months, however, it could be extended to 36 months. But baba VO just asked another question.

VO: So, why Franklin University
Me: Explained the unique curriculum and the fact that FU is located in Colombus Ohio, which was named according to Forbes as one of the best places to do business in the USA.

VO: Sorry you've not met our requirements. You should try when you're ready.

Gave me a yellow paper.

Nothing less, nothing more.

I noticed students with full scholarships got their visas. Even the black woman at windows 7 approved a guy's visa at my face, but he used close to 12 minutes.

I'm thinking of forfeiting this admission to write GRE and toefl. Get good scores and apply for an MSc in International Business or Management program so I can get scholarships and funding.

Thanks for reading.

Not all full funding do get visa at their first attempt o, besides did you know maybe the full funding guy have been rejected earlier. Just reapply and pray for grace
