Islamic terrorist organization, ISIS also known as ISIL has announced that it’s founding member and chief strategist Abu Muhammad al-Adnani who urged followers to carry out attacks on Western civilians while serving as the terrorist movement’s chief spokesman and propagandist has been killed by airstrikes in Aleppo, Syria.

A statement from Isis said that Adnani had been killed while surveying the operations to repel the military campaigns against Aleppo.

A US defence official said on Tuesday night that a coalition air strike earlier in the day had targeted Adnani in the town of al-Bab.Adnani was “martyred while surveying the operations to repel the military campaigns against Aleppo”, Isis’ Amaq news agencysaid, without giving details about how he died.

Adnani started one of Isil’s most notorious threats, intended to inspire Muslims living in Europe to turn on their adopted countries, particularly France.

He urged Muslims to “kill a disbelieving American or European – especially the spiteful and filthy French,”adding:“Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him.”

Aymenn Jawad Tamimi, an expert on jihadist groups, said Adnani’s death “is significant symbolically and in pointing to the wider decline of ISIS”
“If a coalition air strike hit him, it shows intelligence penetration by the coalition is very high. Otherwise itwould not have been possible to take out so many high-ranking figures,” he said.

The European Union on Tuesday ordered Apple to pay a record 13 billion euros in back taxes in Ireland, saying deals allowing the US tech giant to pay almost no tax were illegal.

In the latest in a series of rulings that has angered Washington, Brussels said the world’s most valuable company avoided tax bills on virtually all its profits in the bloc under its arrangements with Dublin.

Apple and the Irish government immediately said they would appeal against the European Commission ruling, while the US Treasury said it could undermine its economic partnership with the EU.

Another light rail project is in the offing as a Chinese firm has received the approval to construct the line in Kano at a sum of $1.85bn (N589.8bn).

An online report by The Cable on Monday gave the construction firm as the China Railway Construction Corporation.

This is coming less than a year to the completion of the first light rail project being constructed in Lagos by the state government. Another Chinese firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation is handling the project.

In a special announcement on Monday, the CRCC said its directors had received a provisional letter of award from Nigeria for the Kano light rail project.

American Rapper Drake, fresh from his VMA kiss with Rihanna, will be releasing a short film called “ Please Forgive Me.” which will come out on September 30th.
The short film will have Nigerian singing sensation Wizkid and Kyla in it. The short film is supposed to increase the interest in Drake’s latest album “Views”, which has been tearing it up on the charts sitting at number 1 on the Billboard charts till it was usurped by the “Suicide Squad” soundtrack.
There has so far been only one music video for the album and this short film is supposed to help ramp up the publicity.

The naira hit an all-time low of 409 against the dollar at the parallel market on Thursday, two days after the Central Bank of Nigeria banned nine Deposit Money Banks from the interbank foreign exchange market over their failure to remit $2.334bn to the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account.

The naira, which closed at 402/dollar on Wednesday, was sold for 397 against the greenback on Tuesday.

Foreign exchange dealers said the demand pressure on the dollar, mounted by summer travelers and parents paying schools fees of their children studying overseas, had been exacerbated by the ban on the nine lenders.

The Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) on Monday urged bus conductors in the state to be civil in their dealings with commuters and other road users. Mr Philip Ogunlade, the Chief Executive Officer of LASDRI, gave the charge in his address at a one-day training and accreditation of bus conductors in Lagos State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 55 executive members of the Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN) participated in the exercise which began with medical checks.

According to Ogunlade, the purpose of the exercise is to impart professional skills in the association’s members, as well as improve public confidence and perception among them. He said: “ What we do at the institute is to train and re-train drivers, as well as re-certify them. “But for the first time in the history of the country, bus conductors are being trained to become better human beings on the road, and relate better with the commuters and other road users.

The Olympic torch was extinguished and Brazil and the world bid farewell on Sunday to the first Olympic Games in South America.

Rio marked the occasion with a joyful closing ceremony meant to celebrate a city and a people that defied predictions and pulled off a scaled-back Olympics amid economic and political turmoil.

The competition took place as scheduled and there were no major security incidents if you don't count the one fabricated by American swimmers.

USA came first winning a total of 121 Medals, which include 46 Gold, Great Britain second with 27 Gold while China is third with 26 Gold.
Our very own Team Nigeria came in on 78th position in the rankings as published by the organizing committee of the Rio 2016 Olympic games.

Carlos Nuzman, president of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee, said during the ceremony:
"We did it. We made it. It was seven years of a lot of struggle and work, but it was worth it. Every minute. Organizing the Games in Rio was a challenge. A successful challenge."
The 2020 Summer Games is set to be hosted in Tokyo.

The family of sick ovarian cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed have announced the death of their sister who had been flown to South Africa for treatment.

A family member, Asiwaju Foye, in a series of tweets around 1.23 pm on Sunday afternoon said Mayowa passed away in the early hours of Sunday.

Foye, however, did not disclose whether the unfortunate incident occurred in Nigeria or in South Africa,

He tweeted, “By Allah, in whose hands our lives is, Mayowa Ahmed has left us in this world. We pray that Jannat becomes her home #RipMayowa. She tried, we tried but God’s will prevailed #RipMayowa”
