armyofone: Me too...Gotta pack now, I'm heading north. I miss miyan, Keri Kashi, dankali, authentic Kunu made with sweet potato, ginger etc, zogoli, masa with yaji or miyan, goose goose, dawadawa soup, kwaruru the mighty eye bean...ummm Sai wata rana.
My memories of the north: chilling under the dongo yaro tree with my parents shelling and eating jada. Chai! Now you make me wanna go back, just for a day . I remember when I first came here and saw some lady hawking what I thought was 'kunun zaki' I was so happy and I decided to buy, that was my first worst decision ever . Bought it, feeling happy and couldn't wait to get to my room and have a drink. I was so disappointed and angry when I tasted it, alas! it was pap , they just made it watery, I almost cursed my friend who convinced me to get it, lol. Luckily, I have tasted masa once here, a friend got it for me. I can't wait to go back to the north I swear, missing lots of delicacies. If only, I can get kunun shinkafa now |

urchbarbie: yh! U got it right. Tuwo Shinkafa is d rice own while masara is cassava. Language barrier. Sometimes, I dont understnd them in d market Tuwo is the hausa word for swallow, so, anything swallow is tuwo. Tuwon masara is maize/corn, not cassava. Cassava is rogo. There is also tuwon dawa, made from sorghum. Tuwon gero, made from millet. Cc Idowuogbo |

Acidosis: People is this cheap or not?
Tomatoes - N600
Someone got this in my village in Kogi Meant to feed over 300 people for few days. Over cheap sef dey worry am . For that amount, it more like you were gifted the tomatoes, lol. That will cost nothing less than N5000 or N6000 here in Ib atm, no kidding. A small bucket of tomatoes now sells for N1750, and I am almost certain the one you have there will be like 6-7 buckets. And the pepper, dem just dash you . That is worth more than 1k here. |

Laredojohn: “We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress.
“Countries far less endowed have made greater economic progress by greater coherence and unity of purpose.
“Nonetheless, that we have remained together is an achievement we should all appreciate and try to consolidate. We have witnessed this year a change in our democratic development. Favourite quotes. PMB has said it all in those lines. We indeed need unity of purpose more than anything. Happy Independence |
