The world would be worth living if pastors would let be what you have stated that tithes, offerings, first and last fruits of church members are collected for the primary purpose of meeting the needs of church members especially the down-trodden masses of the church who do most,

The issue concerning first fruit, tithing, Pass over, Feast of the week,Feast of the Tabernable were dealt with in the past base on the fact that, the main source of income of people them was AGRICULTURE. And in Agriculture, you get your produce, first fruit and income once in a year, around August/ september. It is around this time that all this mentioned above are celebrated and the income in form of produce brought to the church, even as tithe, to be EATEN and shered also bulk of which are given to the needy, homeless, widow, stranger, fatherless, poor and friends.
So, this first fruit was never all of your income, it was about Tenth or some percentage of what youu produce or your income. Then, now that you dont get your income yearly but monthly, YOUR FIRST FRUIT WOULD BE A PERCENTAGE OF YOUR INCOME,  Pls read Deuterronomy 16 and Deut 14 as well.

If I will conclude, the money made from tithe should cover the needs of the fatherless, motherless homes, needy, less priviledged and so on. I dont think another donation in the name of Donation for the needy should arise, its a duplication
If you read Deut 14 well, you will realise that 30%  of the tithe should be dedicated to the needy. etc
It says. the first tithe should be brought to the house of God for celebration and donation, the second tithe should be done same way and the third year or third tithe should be dedicated to the needy.  The cycle is started again . One of every three tithe goes to the needy even now that its done in months
Bt, the new testament expect you to give much more, not restricted to the old 10%. and you will be blessed thus, as you give , wisely

if not all of the evangelism that bring-in the few minority of the rich who later become the friends and fans of the pastors.

Pastor Adeboye's teaching rests on BIBLICAL THEOLOGY while yours rests on APOLOGETIC THEOLOGY. Both are right and okay but each of you shall be judged or rewarded by the KNOWLEDGE of what you know via DIVINE REVELATION. Jesus had 12 disciples, only Peter knew his identity by divine revelation (Mathew 16.13-17) but all worked with him and all went to heaven.

With the little I know of the scriptures, the bible, there is no particular place, scene or event where it was mandatory for church members to give their annual first salaries as first fruits to the church, on a general note.

Any pastor can, using the instrument of philosophical theology, make his church members do this.

However, my stand on the issue is that church members must follow their spirits, study their bibles and ask God for direction before parting with their money in the name of church dogmas. There are a million and one pastors in the world today serving their bellies at the expense of church members' ignorance.

I can not say that I read every post on this topic but I feel like contributing my quota to it.

The first question that comes to my mind is who must be born again; Christians or non-Christians?

By the rule of grammar, you cannot be born again unless you had first died. Non-Christians have never at any point in time been born into Christ, not to talk of dieing and being born again! They do not believe in the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. They are not like Nicodemus of John 3.1-3 who had an initial birth into Jesus Christ. He came to Jesus by night and called him Rabbi, a teacher who came from God, John 3.1-2.

Non-Christians do not believe and do not confess Jesus Christ as an ambassador of God. They call him a servant or a messenger but Nicodemus acknowledged him as a teacher; an instructor speaking the mind of God.

Nicodemus lost his initial privilege as a believer in Christ because of his position and affluence as a political guru – a ruler, so Jesus told him “except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

The fundamental issue here is in the fact that the word BORN AGAIN applies more to Christians than non-Christians. Therefore, Christians should look into the mirror of this scripture to access their qualification for heaven.

HOW MAY YOU KNOW THAT YOU NEED TO BE BORN AGAN?

1 A child leaves the invisible world to a visible one at birth. At your new birth in Christ people see and known you as a preacher, a good, kind, gentle, temperate and faithful fellow. But now, you are dead to those good qualities that nobody noticed you any more! You have stopped being a crusader, a preacher and a bus evangelist. You do not share tracts anymore like you were used to in time past. You now sit to wine and dine to the extend of playing draught, card and Ludo game with sinners you were used to ministering to in the past! YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

2. At your new birth in Christ, you were naked, not hiding the fact and truth of any matter. Your yes was yes and your no was no! You were transparently honest and just. But you have been dead to these attributes, now! Today, when you say I am coming, you actually mean I am going! You no longer have respect for truth. What you used to describe as lies in times past is what you call escapist’s wisdom today! YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

3. Your new birth in Christ was announced by volumes of tears you shed in realization of your sin and depravity of your mind. You used to weep against various vices and corruptions in the world. You dissociated yourself from evil practices such as fornication, adultery, idolatry, lies, cheating, drunkenness, stealing and murder, among others. You are dead today because you freely associate yourself with those habits and characters. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

4. You allowed yourself to be guided, directed, corrected, advised and scolded as a new baby in Christ but are now dead because you freely disallow and disagree with all forms of guidance, direction, correction and advice from your pastors and senior colleagues.

In practical terms, you must be born again if you observe or notice that:

1. Your life does not attract gifts, presents, visions, helps, dreams and good fortunes as you were used to in the past. It is a sign that you are dead spiritually.

2. You are like a refuse bin that receives all manners of insults, allegations, accusations, injustice and bad-luck!

3. You are no more surrounded with great and successful people but failures, ingrates, stupid and foolish ones.

4. You discriminate between Churches and denominations avoiding and dissociating yourself from members of other Churches

5. You no longer weep over injustice and corruptions. Rather, your new song is if you can’t beat them, join them!

There are very many decent Nigerian girls waiting to be hooked in a marriage relationship but you can only secure one by divine election, not through selection otherwise, you may end up with a girl that would dig your grave for you and send you out of planet earth in haste! So, WATCH AND PRAY!

Janet was the daughter of rich parents. Her father was a money bag. He was a transporter and a major distributor to a renowned brewing company in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital of Nigeria. Janet and I met in the Church but I had backslide at that time! I had just realized that religion was deceptive and that most church pastors and Christian Leaders are not saints after all! Apart from the fact that I had caught my pastor in the very act of fornication (having an illicit sex with an opposite sex), I had caught him right in the act of eating while the entire Church was on a three day fast!

The pastor had declared the fast and every member of the church was religiously involved in it. On that fateful day, I was coming from work at about 4.00 pm. I was to go straight to the church but went home instead to pick up my bible which I forgot to take along with me in the morning. Whoa! I found my pastor cooling off with a bow of eba (cassava flour) and egusi (melon) stew!

By that experience and others, I had to advice Janet to go back to her parents and reconcile with them. She should go back to school and become a university graduate. But she would not! She insisted on getting a job with her secondary school education. She would not get back to school for two reasons. The first reason being the church’s belief that Jesus Christ would appear in the sky shortly to take her home to heaven in no distant future. The second reason being that she had a terrible eye problem that used to ache her with excruciating pains. She would not go through the stress of studies and hard work in the light of that pain.

I advised her to get married and settle down as a wife and mother. At least she would enjoy life for a while before rapture takes place if at all it will! It was at that point that she claimed to be a virgin and that she was afraid, she didn’t want to loose her virginity except for the man who would marry her!

I was excited in my unbelief! A virgin! No! At least not with Janet’s physique, stature and lifestyle! A 21 year old lady with a well built stature and elegant posture! It’s a lie! I decided to confirm her claim. If it was true, then, I would marry her!

I had my way! I toasted her and promised to marry her if she would let me confirm that she was the virgin that she claimed to be! She was and she got pregnant immediately after.

I'm sorry Ayo, but I hold an opinion that you are wrong to believe that all men cheat on their wives.

I do admit that by nature men fall easily into the traps of wanting to make new discoveries and perform fresh experiments than women do, it does not apply to all men. But the real issue here is that men who never thought of cheating on their wives have been pushed into doing so by their wives who either nag them out of the home, squeeze out their last kobo while making further demands, give them concortions for breakfast and dinner, etc. The worst is the fact that knowing or believing that their husbands would not cheat on them give them the power and right to take advantage of their sincerity and honesty.

Personal experience both as a husband and counselor proof to me that most men who cheat on their wives do because of the negative attitudes on the part of their wives who believe that IT IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE FOR THEIR HUSBANDS to cheat on them.

Be my bedmate and tell my wife that you really are showing her proofs and evidences of our acts, she would not believe you because she believe it could never happen! However, though I had not, I was tempted several times to do!

I want to buy the idea of Oracle on this question of Why Men Think Their Extramarital Affairs are Ok.  Men have no justification whatsoever to cheat on their wives but in practical terms many women (wives) turned their husbands to flirts.
   
 Is it not practical that a man should enjoy good meal at home? What happens when the wife fails in this business?  What about communication?  Some women talk too much or less and worst is they talk non-sense when the man needs plenty of time to think!  Some women are under or over sexy! Some who look romantic and sexy before wedding suddenly turn out looking like grandma after wedding!
     
From personal and relative experiences I would not condemn the man who cheats on his wife but then it must be noted with all seriousness that having extra-marital affairs outside a legally and religiously wedded marriage is sin against the law, tradition and faith.
