So I got PMS to share my experience with Mihs.
Well, I don't have subsequent experiences with any American hospitals so I really can't compare. All in all, I feel the experience was good. The staff are genuinely concerned bout you, especially the baby. They will take their time to check d baby, you sef go dey pray make them no detain you extra day. One thing though is always ask questions and when you need something, ask. If you are not clear on something, ask as well. The docs will encourage you to ask as well.
Had my baby thru Cs. was actually there that day for my ultrasound, they noticed my aminotic fluid level was a bit low. Na so them keep me for monitoring o. From monitoring, it was decided that they had to bring d baby out cos he kept moving and changing position. Induction wasnt an option cos i had a previous CS, my hope of a VBAC flew outta d window. Then they started explaining explicitly the procedure..fear gripped me at a point. Everyone explained what they were going to do. Nurses, docs, anesthesiologists,. The procedure was over in less than two hours. Recovery in post partum was sweet. Was given ice as soon as i came out. Was adviced to walk around that evening which I did. Those pain meds can turn u to a drug addict. Lol. One thing guaranteed is your welfare is their priority.
Some nurses weren't so great but some are just angels.
As for accomodation, i would advice getting a place where there are other Naija mommas. Believe me, this place boring and moving around isnt that easy. Especially if you dont have anyone to show you arou d. Cross land moms have all left, except for one. Extended stay Oak street still have a few. Ocotillo village which is where i am have just two pple left. Its quite close to d hospital, very close to d airport as well. The only thing is u need an american id and SSN to get a place here.
OK, I think I have tried, I hereby drop my 'golden' pen. Hope this helps someone.

We dey here o, just not much time join my hands as I had my baby on Saturday. The boy can eat for Africa .. Used Mihs, services good, could be better tho, but all in all great experience. Leaving for home today. The rest, oya answer present!

Pleasure! Headed first week in Jan by His grace. Will go visit the hospital physically to get all my facts straight. Can't get to my notebook right now but got the number off their website via Google. Let me know if you have trouble getting it but u should be fine it's pretty straightforward. Cheers!

WoW! sorry about your experience. Almost similar to my experience. Except that i had a 4th degree tear and the left some placenta in me which was discovered 2 weeks later, after i had almost bled to death.
All in all. We thank God for life.

Hi @cfcchick She replied about the pediatrician when I asked earlier "I paid $234 for a 1 day stay at the hospital and I refused the hearing test, cos I see it as waste of money."

All thanks to God and the great people of this thread. Am finally home with my son just 3weeks after birth. I used doctor fagbohun and I had a wonderful birthing experience at oakbend hospital.
Doctor bill= 1920
Initial vist= 150
Ultrasound =150
Lab work= 550
Pathology me and my baby= 63
Epidural = 850
Hospital fee = 2150

As for document, I got d birth certificate from Fort Bend County Richmond after a week for $23, got his passport at Houston passport agency and collected same day for $165, and applied for Nigeria visa which I received back d next day and zoom I changed my ticket and am off.
And for those having issues with delta airline and baby's ticket, I called them. them a week before departure to book baby's ticket and they told me $458, I gave them my card details to remove d fee, fortunately that was not done, on getting to d airport in Houston I was practically begging he lady to collect the money and she said am not owing that infant has been added to my ticket and dat I did myself online. I sha left for Atlanta o, when I got to the boarding gate they asked for my infant ticket, confusion starts, had to go back all the way to the help desk to clear d issue, those ones said am yet to pay, they called and told me am to pay $132.10 I thought I didn't hear well, I gave him d money all for him to tell me it's a mistake that my fee is $458, but I can go cos have been standing here for so long. I was jumping for d miracle, I met anoda naija mum there trying to also pay for baby's ticket, my people the woman no pay she was giving them different drama of no money, they delayed her but immediately d flight was ready to leave they released her, so dats anoda style.....Am willing to help any Houston bound mum with there questions, my little way of giving back to this wonderful family.

Just delivered my baby in MIHS, I am good and baby is fine but my experience with them is very very bad. I would rate them 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 been extremly poor and 10 been great. Me I never still understand becos everyone seem to have had happy ending except me, anyway I thank God for all things.

So I had my appointment with financial yesterday. Got d old package of $2,888. D sweet part is dat I can use d 250 rebate for my son's circumcision n just add $10. Circumcision costs $260! So in effect d whole thing is $2638! Adonbilivit! Lol! D staff r nice too! This is gonna be good! So I av doctors appointment today (someone just cancelled!). Let me see aw dat goes too. I better get d baby shopping over with becos I av a feeling this baby is gonna come earlier than EDD so dat I can get back home ASAP!

Once u av ur baby, MIHS registers the birth and someone would come meet you 24hrs after the birth to get all the details of ur child, the father and the mother. After that, on the 3rd day, you will go to vital records office to pick up the birth certificate but u must go with an I.D so as to identify you.

Hi Nita, pls do u knw if u have to book appointment for the Tucson passport office or u can just work in? Pls if u have to book appointment does any1 knw the number plsss?

i saw that too. so does it mean both couples going still needs the consent form? so where would they get the form and also notarizing it since they are both in US? throw more florescent light..

If ur hubby will b there, u dnt need any consent form, he'll only sign d passport application forms.
