edoman2016: I am not belittling the course of the OP. I quoted a nairalander who asked about the difference between Bsc Economics and Bsc (Ed) Economics or else I won't be on this thread. With regards to Economics, it is a fantastic business course to study in the university. According to Forbes, the top Degrees that produce highest billionaires in the world are Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Law and Computer science.
With regards to OP, I will advise you to set goals for yourself. Having a university degree is not enough, you need skills and professional qualifications to get a good job in Nigeria. After graduation, some of my course mate wrote CIPM and became human resource professional, some wrote ICAN and became chartered accountant, some wrote CIS and became a chartered stockbroker, some wrote CFA and became chartered financial analyst and so on. They are all doing well in their careers. My first job was as a sales trainee at Consolidated brewery PLC in Lagos(under Heineken international) but now I own a fruit juice manufacturing factory and became an entrepreneur.
Your degree in Economics education offer you versatility and flexibility. Acquire a professional certification and skills in a career of your interest and getting a job will be easier for you. Having 2.1 is not enough. Thank you boss Well said |

LionDeLeo: He has said something very reasonable.
You can't compare a graduate of a field with an education graduate in same field. Even the course contents aren't same.
The course content of education is reasonably of how that subject should be thought at lower levels and of course a bit advanced knowledge of what he will teach.
Who told you the course contents are not the same From principles of micro economkcs
A graduate of the field on the other hand is saddled with the task of understanding more advanced knowledge of the field and its various dynamics for practical applications.
For instance, relevant qualifications of Economics experts are eligible to lecture in Economics department as well as Economic education but converse can never be said of Economics Education experts. Who told you the course contents are not the same .. Micro¯o economics (principle) Intermediate micro n macro Econometric Advanced Econometrics Public sector economics Economic planning Environmental economics Advanced Micro/Macro Comparative economic system They did it all and had the lectures together with those in social sciences in addition to their education courses with the same grading system no one was marked down because he isn't pure. So I don't get your point |

Someone is looking for a job you are here trying to make him feel less because he studied Bsc(Ed) Economics what is pure in the Economics? From Principles of microeconomics to comparative economic system he did them all except for the elective courses associated with social science faculty and you are still claiming pure , that pure economics just so you know is not even a professional course its more of an academic and research field with this I do not see how bsc(ed) shld feel less . At op split you CV , create two CV for yourself one shld be education (teaching) oriented include your TRCN in that one plus your IT skills , on the other CV still state your Bsc(Ed) but do not mk it education oriented don't include your trcn to it. You will get a job soon Last last most pure economists are teaching in mushroom schools |

edoman2016: What are you saying? I graduated from department of Economics at OAU in 2011. I have worked in several multinational companies before I started my business. I am telling you the difference between Pure Economics and Economics education based on reality and industry experience. You are saying trash.
Do Pure Economics do teaching practice in university like Education Economics do? As at 2007, cut off mark for Pure Economics at OAU was 275 whereas Economics education was 205. What I posted earlier is the fact and I am not ready for argument. Good day. You are still not saying anything |

Public university graduates are innovative and creative for nursing the ideas that established the private university you attended and produced you. Which makes them by-products of Public universities |

I repeat if ure financially blessed and you have a young chap, take him or her to a good private uni or better still go abroad. , That's why most of them turn weed and codeine addicts within that confined space. dtribunal: I had admission into FUTO. I rejected it and did an A Level programme in Uniport, then gained 200 level admission into Mechanical engineering. I still rejected it and went private. And most private universities release their admission lists before public universities. By the time the public universities are admitting students, their counterparts in private universities would have even matriculated or started exams. So what are you saying? Most of you don't even know what you're
saying. You believe everything people tell you......BY DRAZEY
Plz which uniport A level programme gives u admission directly into 200 level...I schooled there never heard of such...did it start 2017...baba tell me because I still have a younger brother looking for such opportunity.
Education is different from schooling...curriculums are devised to guide and also restrict us...it doesn't matter where u get schooled... But it does matter how u get educated because education is driven by our own effort, our zeal and determination to learn.
All the shege our lecturers show us for public university ehhh....anyways it helped us forge our own path...
I've seen some really smart private university graduates.. But I still rep my public school!!!...private university dudes won't understand!!...lol Unique alumnus ! Ofrima to the world ! |

I couldn't imagine attending a private university and not being able to leave school anytime, cook my own food, use a phone...

The only point I will accept regards Private university graduates is the proliferation of private establishments by their graduates making it more like a cult practice where it becomes difficult for public university graduates to break through but the handful of public university graduates who finally break through we always out do them at work place and even when we eventually run Msc abroad you see public uni graduates shining.
Winning the argument here on NL isn't all there is , ask yourself as a student public or private are making the best from the time n money spent in school ?? Its all about personal development ✌ |

At the end the day you still run to my public university to run Masters Those talking about dilapidated buildings you have myopic minds how about you visit these public institutions and see for yourselves You think we don't know about the sorting bribery and sexual gratifications for grades that go on in private universities These same private universities house drug addicts as students Even a popular private university in the west weed and every other hard drugs are being abused Keep deceiving yourselves I rep University of Port Harcourt !
