THE negotiations among the Senate, the Federal government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU over the ongoing industrial action embarked by universities lecturers ended without parties reaching any compromise. The meeting which was at the instance of the chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije, PDP Abia North, was called to pacify the striking lecturers with a bid to finding a common ground. However, a source at the meeting revealed that all efforts to push for a call off of the strike proved abortive as members of ASUU stood their grounds. The source also said that for well over seven hours, Chukwumerije was literarily on his kneels pleading with the lecturers to consider the plights of the students and call off the strike, but ASUU members refused to shift ground. The meeting had in attendance, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Education, Professor Ruquayyatu Rufai; Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Julius Okojie and members of the Senate Committee on Education, among others....VANGUARD |
Hello all! I just want to bring to your notice that there is plan for a protest concerning state allowance issue in Rivers State. I want to oblige everyone that is affected to be ready for it. We don't want people to shy away from this because the larger our number, the louder our voice will be and they'll know that we are not fools. The date and venue will be communicated to all through various means as soon as all the logistics are put in place. You can also suggest your ideas as we strategize. |
peemesh2: I have confirmed it from a lawyer friend in our batch...they came on tuesday for it and were ask to come on Monday....If nobody protest,is either they will eat our money or they will do just like they did when they paid half of Batch B and paid the rest dis year..Have they paid your lawyer friend till date? |

Abeg abeg abeg abeg.....It have do. Let's make issues clear and straight. @Snazzylove, in as much as you have the right to your views, such views should be properly aligned. Take it or leave it, it's unethical to talk about your employer in the public the way you did. It was so derogatory and I know you must have realized that you were not totally right. Your reasons might be cogent to the later, but that shouldn't be on a platform like this. I share your sentiments though, but that is why you are employed. You were not employed to sit on the job, but rather to grow in the job. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT!!! Is that not what we've been hearing?? I can sense you are competent to cause a change---if you want to. To others, let's be objective in our criticisms. It's not untrue of the fact that things are not the way they are supposed to in federal agencies in Nigeria. Let's not stretch our criticisms on Snazzylove's post. I guess he/she doesn't mean much harm. Abeg make I stop. ONE LOVE!! |
snazzylove: Hello house. I got an offer wit INEC in January and resumed on 1st of March. Word of advice: if u are looking for a good job wia your qualifications and brain will count, forget INEC and look someoda place. Its an unfortunate place 2 work, their pay is very poor, working environment poor, and worst of all it will make you redundant. If I have a good alternative right now, I will ruuuuunnnnnnn! Not saying to discourage anyone but just sharing my experience. Good luck guyz.you have succeeded in saying discouraging words and you are saying you don't intend discouraging anyone. So, why were you saying derogatory words about the INEC job in the first place. Anyway, hope you find a good alternative to ruuuuuuuunnn. Ciao!!! |
