Politics › Re: Open Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari On His Recent Appointments by change49ja: 6:02am On Aug 30, 2015 |
MORNDEW: MANY OF US ARE NOT HAPPY Mr. President, i will be very straight and blunt. Your recent appointments have caused uproar in every part of Nigeria. I am not against your appointments neither am I in doubt of your resolve for a better Nigeria but you must run an all inclusive government that will not portray you as an ethnic bigot as many believe.
During the electioneering campaign, i quietly supported you and many times engage people on your agenda for the country and the need to have a man like you steering the ship of Nigeria. I was re-christened 'Buhari' 'Sai Baba' and other names that showed me as a Buharist. Mr. President it was not an easy road to take. I was called a traitor cos i come from the south south. Many really had nothing incriminating against you or accusation of corruption against you, they only centered it on the reason that you are an ethnic and religious bigot.
I could remember when Jega was announcing the result, then, i was in one of the South Eastern State and after you were declared winner and i said 'YES CHANGE IS HERE' , one guy nearly attacked me. He called me names and asked me to keep quiet or else he will injure me. I just left the scene quietly to avoid trouble this is not with many numerous "abeg leavam" from many onlookers. Mr. President that's how rough the road was supporting you.
After you assumed office, i still have to always defend every step you take because people have known me as your supporter so any wrong you do, people call for my head or gather to mock me.
Baba, your latest appointments was a joke taken too far. Your party was not aware and they all came from the north. Today many mock us your ardent supporters. 'We no tell you' is the greeting i 've been receiving since today. 'Buhari cannot change' 'Na him people him go favour'
even though you don't want to give the appointments known figures in South south and East, you could have given it to someone else. At least one between Chief of Staff and SGF. Mr. President Who are your advisers? Did you show them the list? Did you consider their opinion? Or you just went ahead and took the decision all by yourself. If the later is what has birthed this recent national outcry, then Mr. President it was not a good one.
I have just been wondering what Ogbonaya Onu, Rochas Okorocha, Chris Ngige, Joe Igbokwe, and other Igbo men who took the risk in supporting you will be going through in the hands of their people. They were called different names yet they believed in this course. Today it is as if they made mistake doing so. The shame, mockery and insult they will receive because of these recent appointments is unimaginable.
Mr. President, we are not happy and we implore you to thread carefully in national dealings as not to fuel tribal crisis or do what will make we your supporters regret giving you our backing amidst danger. Please seek the input of your party members in further appointments and remember you 'belong to nobody and belong to everybody'. Princewill Chimereze. @P_Chimereze.

Basically, I'll say Buhari is doing the northern version of what GEJ did for the south apart from the appointment of Abdullahi Inde by GEJ for customs.
Take for instance, Anyim Pius Anyim for SGF,Chief Mike Aiyebeni Ogiadomhe for Chief of Staff, Mrs Rosemary Uzoma as Immigration CG, Senator Joy Emordi SA to the President on National Assembly Matters and so on and so forth. So in reality, we southerners have no right to complain now that the game has changed.
Having said that, I'll strongly advice Buhari to try as much as possible to balance his appointment in order not to lose some of his southern supporters who still dwells on tribalism, ethnicity and religion.
For people like me, I won't judge his appointments until I see his 'total package' and even at that, what will matter most will be the outcome( stable electricity, clean water, good roads, sea and air networks, security of lives and properties, good health, food, education, WAI and C, youth employment, stable economy etc) of his appointments and not necessarily the people he appointed. Afterall what did we gain from having those men and powerful women (no names mentioned) from the south in GEJs govt. |

Jorussia: the Igbo should have protested when the UN chief came here to Nigeria, that would have brought the issue of Biafra to limelight in the eyes of international community. Exactly my point...I tell you, if there was a protest, imagine the impact the report of CNN, ALJAZEERA, BBC, SKY NEWS etc will give Biafra. |

One way or the other, it will be realized. Sorry my brother, no vex. English is not my first language. I prefer Chinese. Now I get you. You're dealing with the zoo first. Cool. 戴绿帽子 |

OP, leaders in ur zoo must have a stand on it b4 UN.
Don't worry, Biafra is divine, not a mortal thing to be ordained by Banki and co. So are you saying UN can't do anything without the leaders in our zoos like Lions, Elephants and Tigers having a stand on Biafra...okay, I get you. It'll be very difficult to reason with animals.. |

Mister, when the time comes for UN and Biafra to meet,I assure you,you will read it here on nairaland. Relax.

As I have said before, I'm neither for nor against the actualization of Biafra. My only take is that violence/war must not be an option in order for history not to repeat itself.
The UN top man Mr. Ban Ki-Moon was in the country for few days and I was disappointed not to see/read any meeting between him and Biafra representatives/leaders on the issue of Biafra.
I believe it was a very great opportunity for those that want Biafra to put across their demand. |

kenonze: Start it ASAP.
No country survives when over 70% of its budget goes to recurrent expenditures while 30% goes for capital projects.
The moment we start thinking of how to put the country first, everything shall fall in place On point. And out of the 30% budgeted for capital projects, only about 15% will be actually used for that purpose. SMH |

Buhari needs to distance himself from people like this Junaid(Asari Dokubo/ Femi Fani-Kayode version). These are the kind of people that destroyed Jonathan's government. They thought they're defending Buhari but unknowingly to them, they're creating more enemies for him. |

When they wanted to do their 'magomago' during the election of the principal officers of the Eight Assembly, they quickly created a 'Standing Orders document ' for the Eight Assembly even before they were inaugurated. No debate no nothing as they are now doing with this Seventh Assembly Standing Order to reduce the power of the deputy speaker. |

Our correspondent also gathered that Buhari was already considering withdrawing national honours from any individual found to have looted the nation’s treasury. It was learnt that the President’s position was that the nation should not be seen to be honouring any fruadulent person. Good |
