TV/MoviesNetflix In Nigeria!!!!! by Chanzy1(op): 10:29am On Jan 07, 2016
This is part of the email I received last night from Netflix Inc about their launch in Nigeria. As many other Nigerians did, I subscribed to the service and have been waiting for the day the service would come to Nigeria.

For everyone that loves movies and series or even Entertainment as a whole would know that this is a very big news for subscribers in Nigeria who have been waiting for the Video streaming service to be made available for Nigerian IPs.

In the past desperate Nigerians had resorted to IP tricks and VPN rerouting simply to have a Netflix & Chill moment with their loved ones. The announcement came as Netflix Inc went live in about 130 countries including the Giant of Africa.

This means different things for different people and firms in the entertainment industry of both Nigeria and the world at large. Do you want Netflix in Nigeria, or prefer your DSTV/IROKOTv or are you one of the smart ones that use VyneHouse Media for your entertainment solutions.

The service comes in three values:

Basic : US$7.99

Standard: US$9.99

and Premium: US$11.99

AmNotADullard:
Good day Nairalanders, the time I started writing this is 3:22am, whether am a popular NLder or not doesn't matter, but I would like to Conceal my identity. These would be a bit long, because I would want to explain all what is happening and has been happening to me concerning my education.
What you are going through is not new, neither is it a wonderful experience.
There is a clear line of distinction between intelligence, hard work and talent, most times the three is mixed up and in some cases with other elements too.
Personally am not in the school of thought that believes that exam scores can tell e what I am but we all do know how bad it feels when you do badly in your school exams.

Problems:
Not doing well in your exams can be caused by
1. Studying the wrong way, am not expert but when you meet an academic he would explain further that its not just by reading the words on the pages of a book that we learn but by targeted study.

2. Studying the wrong thing, this is quite different from the above, it could be that you just buy books and read on a topic without considering the coverage and outline that your school curriculum demands.

Having said those, now here are the more applicable reasons,
3. You are studying the wrong course, sometimes due to peer influence, advice from older folks and statistics consideration we go into studying our 'dream' courses without even remembering that we are dreaming.
4. Deep down this isn't what you want, look deep into yourself, not the economy, not the employable statistics, and realize why the hell are you studying that course.
5. Environment, I am assuming that you told us the full truth that you have attended your lectures and read your books and that you also wrote well in exams. If the above are true then , it can be due to two possibilities;
i. You didn't understand what you read and so wrote what your lecturer doesn't 'understand'
ii. Lecturer factor; There are variables that are minor on there own but when they work together lead to catastrophic failure among students and can't even be traced back directly to any of these individual variables.

Note: Everything I have written or yet to write are my opinion gathered from experience, observation and personal study, They are not authoritative on this subject and must not be regarded or treated as such. Same applies to the writer.

Advice

1. Find the root of the problem,'or what you believe it is'
Nobody here on nairaland is suffering what you are suffering, I might have gone through similar experience but telling you i know how you feel would be a deceptive sentiment. Therefore sit back trace your individual problems and search for a link between them, if there is no visible link, then note down each cause and then the search for a solution begins.
2. Learn what to blame yourself for and what not to.Every human who has a drive for success and independence tend to blame themselves for every single negative occurrence that they come across thereby leading to regrets and possible further mistakes.
Change what you can and don't let what you cant change you.
3.Talk to someone, I guess that what you are trying to do here probably because you would have a larger audience while maintaining your animosity, however that's the wrong choice, social media is one of the worst places to raise these issues especially when they affect you personally.
4. See alternatives; There is no problem that it's solution is death try swallowing ego and shame and see possibility of final failure in societal education. Be open to other avenues to become a better man than your environment has dictated.

I wish I had a sentence that would make all your problems go away, FORTUNATELY no one does, you would work through this yourself with the help of other people and when you come out better the other end of the dark tunnel you would have testimonies t tell and words of advice for other people such as am doing now and then you would appreciate the line of hard decisions that you would have to make in the coming moments in your life.

P.S Death by chemical isn't heroic now attention seeking as you would think.
Easiest way to die without pain is a cut wrist immersed in warm water but I don't avise that you do that.

TV/Movies[photo] Jon Snow Is Alive (game Of Thrones) by Chanzy1(op): 4:47pm On Nov 24, 2015
One of the most tearful scenes of all the slaughter and blood shed in Game of thrones was the stabbing of Jon Snow the commander of the Night's watch.
However at the beginning of shooting of the Game of Thrones season 6, there were speculations that Jon Snow is actually not really dead.

However, with the release of the new season's poster today by HBO,the speculations have been laid to rest that at least Jon Snow is still in the show whether as Jon, a white walker or in his wolf;Ghost.

Here are a few theories of his return from the dead:

1. HE'S NOT REALLY DEAD.

Perhaps one of the simpler explanations is the right one: Despite losing a lot of blood, Jon survives the beatdown by his backstabbing brothers and lives to see another night on The Wall.

2. GONE TO THE DOGS

Though he hasn't done so before, there's a chance Jon could — maybe subconsciously? — warg into Ghost before dying, the way that Bran can warg into his direwolf Summer. Maybe that's what's meant by the change in his eye color that some fans saw in that last scene? (Though some believe that, because the HBO series chose not to have a dying Jon call for his companion the way he does in the book, this choice isn't an option.)

3. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME

There's precedent for Game of Thrones' dead appearing in dreams and/or visions: Bran saw his father, Ned, during a Season 4 sequence; and Daenerys was very briefly reunited with her sun and stars when Khal Drogo showed up at the House of the Undying. If he is dead, what's stopping Jon from swinging by his loved ones' slumber?

4. BETTER RED THAN DEAD

If Thoros of Myr, a red priest, could resurrect Beric Dondarrion in Season 3, who's to say red priestess Melisandre — who was rather preoccupied with Jon throughout Season 5 — can't do so for the fallen Lord Commander?

5. PARTING SHOT

Charles Dance, whose Tywin was killed in the Season 4 finale, showed up in Season 5… but only as Papa Lannister's corpse in a funeral scene. Might a similar reason be behind Harington's presence in Belfast at the start of Season 6 filming? (Admittedly, this is our least favorite theory.)

6. WHAT A PRINCE

Though Melisandre believes that Stannis is the reincarnation of R'hllor savior Azor Ahai, maybe Jon is really the Prince That Was Promised to save mankind — that's gotta be enough to get past a pesky little death, right?

7. PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED

Jon just can't die before we find out the identity of his real mother — and possibly that of his true father, if the L+R=J theory is to be believed. (Google it.)

8. HE JUST HAS TO LIVE

"I've been worrying about Jon for years," Sam says confidently and reassuringly at the end of Season 5. "He always comes back." Works for us!

Whats your own theory?

The jet that was shot down

Foreign AffairsRussian President Vladmir Putin Speaks On Turkey's Attack by Chanzy1(op): 3:16pm On Nov 24, 2015
Following the recent shooting down of a Russian Jet by Syria forces, the Russian President Vladmir putin issued out this Statement.

"This event is beyond the normal framework of fighting against terrorism. Of course our military is doing heroic work against terrorism... But the loss today is a stab in the back, carried out by the accomplices of terrorists. I can’t describe it in any other way. Our aircraft was downed over the territory of Syria, using air-to-air missile from a Turkish F-16. It fell on the Syrian territory 4km from Turkey.

Neither our pilots nor our jet threatened the territory of Turkey. This is obvious. They are fighting terrorists in the northern areas around Latakia, where militants are located, mainly people who originated in Russia, and they were pursuing their direct duty, to make sure these people do not return to Russia. These are people who are clearly international terrorists.

Taking into account that we signed an agreement on deconflicting with the US, and as we know Turkey was among the ones that has joined the US coalition. Since Isis has such huge resources of hundreds of millions and billions of dollars coming from illicit oil sales, and they are protected by the armed forces of other states, then it’s clear why they are so brazen, why they are killing people, why they are carrying out terrorist attacks throughout the world including in the heart of Europe.

We will analyse everything, and today’s tragic event will have significant consequences, including for Russia-Turkish relations. We have always treated Turkey as a friendly state. I don’t know who was interested in what happened today, certainly not us. And instead of immediately getting in contact with us, as far as we know, the Turkish side immediately turned to their partners from Nato to discuss this incident, as if we shot down their plane and not they ours."

Moments later Turkey prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu said it was Turkey’s “duty” to defend its territory
Davutoglu said:

“We want the international community to know that we are ready for any kind of sacrifice when the security and life of our citizens and our border security are concerned. The downing of a jet that had violated Turkish airspace today has to be seen in this context as well.

“We do not adopt an approach that impeaches on the sovereignty of any country. But the world needs to know that it is our international right and our national duty to take measures against anybody who violates our borders on the land and in the air, in spite of our many warnings.”

Education2nd Best Thing To Do In A Nigeria University by Chanzy1(op): 7:21pm On Nov 10, 2015
2nd best thing to do in Nigerian College.

One of the hardest things students encounter while applying for a university admission or even when they are in is solving the puzzle of the optimal way or ways to go around the 4/5/6 years to get the very best out of it.

Ready made solution templates come I'm several formats,  some of the common ones are

1. Pray to God he will direct your every path after all the physical is controlled by the spiritual.

2. Lectures Read Eat Read Read and then repeat the cycle,  if you noticed this method doesn't even have sleep plan because we all know that 'the highs that great men attain is not by sudden flight but while their contemporaries slept they but the the midnight candle.

3. Pay the bills : It's either you know the tuition source is going to run short soon or you are actually the source, either way finding ways to get money within or outside school us the priority, I don't judge unless your earning removes from mine without my consent. You don't have time for the lectures so it's either you reimburse a percentage of the earning for the legit sorting or just accept the Es as they come and blame the Fs on missing script.

4. Mahadum I don't know why this us my favorite probably because it flows better with my language.
It's a university,  you came here for universal knowledge and I don't mean how cars work or better ways to passage information or hoe to remove mole from a tooth.
Am talking about relishing and cataloguing girls asses/ guys veg depending on which ever grinds your gear.
I am talking about being in first name bases with the bar tenders and party planners in school.
Who wouldn't want to walk in to a cheer and standing ovation at a party.

Sorting solves all students problems after all every lecturer is sortable depending on his price.

Now let's see why I still don't consider these the best or more importantly the 2nd best things one can do in school , firstly your parents told you not to join bad gangs though it isn't your fault no body took out time to explain the various sceneries that are consist of bad gang.
It isn't there fault though since you all watches rented Nigeria films were Jim iyke us killed because he is a cultists who smokes weeds and shish a on the same day that he downed a carton of beer. Maybe just maybe it's the combination of all of them that made it bad, it wouldn't hurt at all to take one of those and share with some like minded friends?

Secondly, from what we've learnt in the time past none of these are the direct way to success from the Nigeria schools.
Now some may argue that are schools are trash at least not as good as before (old people's version), but let's look at the other countries they are running to, I wouldn't even talk about Ghana the amount of drug adducts and fatherless babies they produce should keep them away fro  this article.
Look at the wonderful America with the awesome American dream, I would talk about the American dream in another article  but it's failed too.

Our education is one of the best if nor how do we produce such great minds.

So the second best thing you can do in 9ja uni is to build your dreams , join  theatre,  learn to play the guitar build your blogging skills, learn to skate, train your voice and by all means model for every agency you can find. You've got it girl you need to flat it but whole you do this in the name of all things holy,  lead people to Christ, become the evangelism coordinator in your fellowship because the greatest mistake us struggling to success without working in the Lords vineyard even if it's just weeding.
Are you course rep yet?
No!! Then contest for Lodge area ambassador or lodge president,  village union king or if you like the like if Sarah try out the students representative council but remember it helps to be a rotract,  a students lawyer and an active member of a party cm y don't want the stake holders saying they can't deliver you.
You have been working on building to yr self,  free up its life you are a youth and life is short so go out and get a drink, attend some parties increase the number of side chucks you wouldn't want to be the silent Obe when 30 yes later you friends are telling stories of the ex points in the good old days.
But in all these do not forget to read because this us why you a here, go to night class to cover up , there us no shame in sleeping once or twice tiger or even every single time what matters is that it's obvious that you are making affords.

The nigerian university is a community and making sure u partake I'm all this is getting close to the best thing in school. Don't deny yourself any of them.
You have 24 hrs who said that isn't enough time?

Don't just participate be at the helm of affairs in all these SUG Official, party organiser,  top blogger,  tutorial genius,  fellowship president , Music and dance artist.
Like Nike always says Just do it!!!
That's the second best thing you can do in school but the very best thing you can do in Nigeria University is don't get into it, RUN if you aren't there yet.
If you are there already find the fastest way to get out.
Or just don't go back for the next semester no lecturer would miss you in a lecture hall with 500 2nd best students.

Please the policy is good. 40,000 people will lose their jobs in the manufacturing industry, maybe yes. but I can assure you that not less then 200,000 will gain new jobs in the agricultural sector, etc and after a while, they can exceedingly meet the demand of the manufacturers, the 40,000 or more will regain their jobs in new manufacturing companies or the existing ones that have embraced the new locally sourced materials. Simple logic.
It sounds quite reasonable and profitable but if you do your research well you would realise that the necessary counter policies needed to effect the efficiency of the policy is not being put in place hence my wailing.
CareerRe: CBN Policy: Massive Job Cuts Looms In Manufacturing Sector by Chanzy1(m): 3:11pm On Oct 07, 2015
The figure isn't exaggerated, considering the policies and fall in oil price alone, I have witnessed close to 5000 layoffs in the past two months alone.
I am not talking of statistics am talking of company I was working for and other companies that I have friends in lagos alone.

Just extend that figure with the coming recession, further oil fall, inflatation, increasing number of 'employable' graduates daily, further withdrawal of investments and lower consumer demand and you would realise that this country is in for some serious shit in 2016.

I just pray I can still purchase chicken for easter next year.
