Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has disclosed that the slain kidnapper and armed robbery kignpin, Henry Chibueze, aka Vampire, threatened him and his family over the N5million bounty placed on him.

The governor, who had expressed regret over the criminal’s escape, had pledged a N5million reward to anyone who offers useful information leading to the arrest of Vampire.

In a statement after the wanted criminal was gunned down by the police, Okorocha, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said “When his partners in crime took him away from the High Court a few weeks back, I knew it would not be too long before his ugly chapter would close.”

Rochas commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, for dispatching the special squad that worked with the Imo Police Command to end the ugly episode.

The governor also commended the Department of State Services (DSS) who first arrested Vampire in Owerri as the arrest raised the consciousness of security agencies and the public on the existence of the hardened criminal.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has sought to clarify his remarks about Igbo Presidency.

Obasanjo insisted he only told a group of visiting Christian leaders some weeks ago, that he would like to see an end to apparent marginalisation of the South East people.

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has reportedly pulled out of the team’s friendly matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso in London later this month.

Mikel Obi requested to be excused from the games to enable him settle down with his new Chinese Super League club, Tianjin TEDA.

By the time the matches will be played, the new season in China would just be a few weeks old.

It is understood that the former Chelsea midfielder has been given permission by coach Gernot Rohr to miss the games.

He emerged at a meeting of the Forum held at the Enugu Government House.

Ikpeazu who briefed journalists about the new development said that the lot fell on Ebonyi State because Anambra and Abia states have had their fair share of heading the Forum.

Recall that the South East Governors have not had a leadership since 2015 when the former governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Orji served out his tenure.

Gov. Umahi while addressed the press later, said he accepted the new position in good fate.

“I want to first of all accept the leadership position that my colleagues have imposed on me.

“Though I am not most qualified but they decided that I should head the South East Governors’ Forum at a time like this. So, I want to thank them with all sense of humility and I accept with all my heart,” he said.

He said that the governors met with the chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo who briefed them on the leadership of Ohanaeze and also Chief Ike Ekweremadu who briefed them on infrastructural development as listed in the 2017 budget as it concerned the South East.

Umahi also said that they discussed the security situation in the zone with the aim of finding solution to them, pointing out that they were reaching with commissioners of police in their respective states to ensure that the zone was safe.

He pointed out particularly that they would work in synergy to ensure that the issue of kidnapping was checked.

The new chairman equally said that the zone was going to have a proper economic integration so that the abundant wealth inherent in the zone would be tapped to better the lives of their people.

Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has described his successor, Nyesom Wike as a child who is not capable of governing a state.

Amaechi said the reason Wike continues to falter and misfire was because the state is too big for a ‘child’ like him to handle.

In a recent interview with some editors in Abuja, the minister accused the governor of trying to bury his achievements by changing the name of one of the projects he built.

The Senate Thursday said that it has mandated the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner and Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to flush out beggars, hoodlums and commercial sex workers, from the streets of the FCT.

Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye, stated this at a media briefing in Abuja.

According to Melaye, his committee had invited the police commissioner and NSCDC commandant to inform them about the worsening insecurity in the FCT and the need to take steps to curb the trend.

He said, “Last week we summoned the commissioner of police FCT and the commandant of NSCDC because as a committee and the Senate we are appalled with the security situation in Abuja.

“We are also very uncomfortable with the number of hoodlums on the streets of Abuja. We have beggars, destitute, commercial sex workers spread across every nook and cranny of the city and we have given a marching order to the commissioner of police and the commandment of NSCDC to clear them.

“We have also instructed the FCT to provide logistics for the immediate evacuation of all dissidents, beggars including those little boys who claim they are helping you to clean your glass but add aditional dents to your cars.”

The legislator noted that the committee also invited Managing Directors of banks operating in the Federal Capital city and 15 banks attended.

He said, “We discovered that despite the fact that hundreds of millions spent from budgetary provisions of FCT annually paid to contractors for the maintenance of street lights and the maintenance of all the streets and environment of Abuja is not yielding any positive results.

“So, the committee decided to invite these banks and in line with their corporate social responsibility to the FCT, their host community that we are going to share all the major streets in Abuja to banks.

Elder statesman and a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees, Ezekiel Izuogu, has stated that the only way to bring about lasting peace to Nigeria was to hand over the presidential stool to an Igbo indigene.

Big Brother Naija: ‘Bisola na counterfeit’ – TTT’s mother confirms he is married

To further confirm that a contestant of the ongoing Big Brother Naija Reality TV Show, Thin Tall Tony, TTT, is married, his mother, Mimi Maria Offiong-Brown has alleged that ‘Bisola is counterfeit.’

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Monday declared that every morning he carries “Bible bullets to fight the All Progressives Congress, APC.”

The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum made the remark at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.

Fayose urged PDP members at the meeting not to be afraid of the ruling APC.
