What more do they want? It's not like Nigeria is a country where you pay for stuff like that and get it asap.
Thieves!! Police ko.

Crime › Re: California-Based Nigerian Queried By The Nigeria Police (video) by chccho(m): 4:02pm On Aug 08, 2016 |
fcvklies: Nope, never implied anyone's free to drive in Nigeria without a license. The outcome I mean, if you're stopped by the police under this circumstance could/would be a lot worse than just being given a ticket cuz that ain't the system here. I've had my car impounded at almost 2AM in the morning in Lagos and asked to come back to the station much later in day because I didn't have my license on me. Where else on earth does that happen? Wouldn't I have been better off given a ticket? The driver's license thing only works in a society where records are kept. When the cops ask for your license and registration, they get a lot more info and history on you after cross-checking their database than just on-the-spot profiling. The Nigerian policeman only asks you for your driver's license hoping you don't have it on you so they can ''open office'' untop your head!
I should add: I didn't watch the video, waste of my MB and time. I'm talking bout the typical Nigerian situation we all are aware of and can't deny. I've lived in Nigeria all my life and got issued my first driver's license back in '98. If u didn't watch d video then y did u just jump into conclusion and write all that crap...it's a crime not to drive without a driver's license here in Nigeria and anywhere in the world...so if u don't want anyone to harass u do the right thing and pls go and watch the video so u can have a better understanding of what happened here |

Career › Re: A Science Related Degree But Interested In TV Broadcasting Job, Advise On How To by chccho(m): 8:27am On Aug 05, 2016 |
Ymodulus: @learoce
Your question is an age old question cropping daily by those who wish to get into the broadcasting field, however in your case this time your question comes with a digital angle:- Which if properly rephrased would be, Does a Journalist/ TV Presenter/ Radio Presenter, today still need a degree in journalism? Truth be told most Journalist, Presenters, broadcasting professionals are not really on same page as to if a journalism degree (Mass come and other professional exams ) are needed to practise in the broadcasting world.
Asking several much more of the public will go with there is no nee, however how true is the reply?
You must understand that, in all generality The bridge between the academic community and the professional community has been burnt down burned down. Every discipline is facing a dramatic change due to technology, so too is the broadcasting industry. It's not going to be immune to this disruption.
However the Nigerian certificate factor comes to play, and this is the question on if mass communication degree holding graduates are more appealing candidates in a job recruitment process to the non mass communication graduates.
My Personal Experience:I never studied mass communication, i studied something way different, in my 200level i got into a radio station and worked as a webdeveloper, then got to be an On Air presenter, as time went on i fell in love with new editing and reporting/ writing, i was schooled then by the head of news for the radio station and reported several news on some few occasions.
In my final year, final semester i got to meet this man in one of the APC functions, and something happened, i rewrote a speech meant to be read by an Aspirant, a certain word drew his attention to me and that was the word "Hegemony". Several were impressed with my writings and from there on i got a job and began working at one of Nigeria's leading Newspaper company in Nigeria as a reporter.
Note, that in all this i never read mass communication or something related, Graduating from the university last year i applied to a well known tv station and got a job however did not get to go on due to career decisions such as following money path- Business and neglecting the monthly pay.
Do one been a Mass communication graduate matters in been a Tv Presenter? No it does not. Live experience? Several experience. Several Channels Tv Presenters are not Mass comm grads, Sound-City, and even reputable international Tv Presenters likes of Mason of CNN MONEY etc.
O do i need tell you that i even scaled through the Aljazeera correspondent quest? In the end, you just have to ask yourself if Broadcasting job gives you joy or the money does.
At an age of 23 for me now the money does brings the JOY, not the career. When i get to 29 after i must have achieved what i set as my goals then i can begin to go after my passion.
So brother if you really and truly wants to be a TV presenter, you can achieve your dreams without having a mass comm cert.

Neyopumpy: Jimoh Ibrahim is a joker for saying he has 8000 workers (A BIG LIE of the century). I can confidently say his staff is not upto 1500 because I am presently one of them. Also, he made mention that he's going to pay the outstanding salaries of ondo state workers within the first 100 days (Another BIG LIE). Have you done that to your workers. He claimed he's not owing any worker in all his companies (Another BIG LIE for the gullible ones). I can confidently say without mincing words that Jimoh Ibrahim takes owing staff salaries as a normal thing. Presently, I can say it anywhere that Jimoh is owing staff salaries for many months in most of his companies. The companies are: Global fleet Oil & Gas Ltd (10 months) Energy New Press Ltd (5 months) National Mirror (4 months) Newswatch Times Magazine (16 months) Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja (2 months) Nicon Hotel Lagos (3 months) Nicon Insurance Ltd (2 months) Energy Group office staff (2 months) These are verifiable facts which any nairaland member can confirm from staff of these various companies, atleast am one of them. So, I leave the rest for the nairaland members to decide if this Big fraudster and slave master is fit to run a state when he hasn't been able to run any of his companies successfully. You are 100% correct my brother |

DBestDoc: Thank you my brother. This is one of the 2 comments that have got an iota of sense in it after reading 3 pages. Nigerians and sentiments...smh Sentiments brought us where we are now as a country and and it will keep crushing us till we decide to think with the brain God gave us.
For those calling it a mere laptop, i smh for you guys. Do you know what the owner went through before being able to buy that laptop? Do you know if he saved up his 7 months salary to buy that laptop? Do you know what purpose that laptop serves in his life? Do you know what pain you cause someone when you steal their stuffs? It may be something they sacrificed a lot to acquire and you just take it away from them.
As for the dead guy, i got no sympathy for him. Is he a foreigner? A typical Nigerian knows how aggressive Nigerians on the street can get if you are caught stealing something as small as a cube of Maggi, it's nothing new. We hear, read and witness it from time to time. The fact that he decided to gamble it means that he weighed his options very well and made his decisions which was to go ahead and steal, regardless.
I'm not in support of jungle justice but anybody that picks up an insect infested firewood, should be ready to face the music...no sentiments if they run out of luck. Those screaming politicians bla bla, is collective property same as a personal effect you worked so hard for? How many politicians can u lay your hands on? The economy is hard and everybody is feeling it both home and abroad. Just as Mr A is hustling, Mr B should also hustle and not try to rip other people off their stuffs. These guys that steal people's ATMs and clear their life savings, do you know how many families they cause pain? When karma catch up with them, Nigerians will start screaming.
A friend of mine lost 4 phones and a gold necklace within 6 months of returning to Nigeria, one of the phones was stolen in a hospital. Hospital of all places , stealing from someone that is meant to help you out with your problems is the height of wickedness.
The relative that found a car online, liked it and paid some money into the guy's account to deliver the car to her location because she didn't have time. It happened to be a scam. I called his number and he said we should do whatever we want that he won't refund the money, when this particular guy runs out of luck and gets paid in his own coin, una go begin shout...
There isn't any justification whatsoever for taking someone else's life. The answer is treating others how you would want to be treated. U have just written a long epistle of garbage here So because of your friends personal experiences, jungle justice is justified?? Remember an eye for an eye will only make the whole village blind...let he who is without sin be the 1st to cast a stone o.... |

Hello Nairalanders and fellow Nigerians, I am deeply disturbed, troubled and broken hearted at the rate at which we now take laws into our hands and take the live s of criminals at will..I just saw the pics of the man who was beaten to death for stealing a laptop in lekki,I also watched the video of the ALUU 4 and that is probably one of the most devastating vids I have ever watched..
Pls I do not in anyway support crime of any kind or In Anyway but pls let us all learn to handle such criminals in a civilised way (except for the likes of Badoo the rapist cos that one should be fed to dogs)..These criminals could be made to serve severe pumishments or rather handed over to the appropriate authorities-the police.instead of metting out this barbaric acts upon them...I feel for some of them at times the way the public unleashes hell on them..Pls let us bear this in mind that in the Nigeria of today our leaders have stolen our commonwealth, and are still milking us dry till tomorrow and they freely roam around in their fancy cars while we heap praises upon them...if we as a people cannot also stand up against these people and also publicly shame them, then we should all have a rethink at how we met out jungle justice to these poor souls...Pls Nigerians it's not fair |

989900E: He wasn't the master-mind, nor a major player like Babangida, Vasta, Bako, Idiagbon, Abacha, Bako, Gwadabe, MKO Abiola, Tunde Ogbeha, David Mark, Jokolo, Magoro, Umar, Akilu, or Dasuki, but he knew about it, and was complicit. Now, standard procedure with coup plotting is, it comes like a whirlwind, it doesn't take forever, once word is out -- it's out; you move in or abort. Irony is, once you know about it, or you're told about it, it's either you're in (part of the coup), or out (which means reporting it to the powers that be, or you are part of it). It is a life-threatening position to be in.
Most people indicted in the Vasta coup (1985) and the Diya coup (1997) were listed for execution, just for knowing about it, and not reporting it.
Buhari was selected to lead as one of the most senior . . . he might not have been a major player, but we can say he is glad about it, given his kinda sour relationship with then C-in-C Shagari.
tank u for this but u will also remember that it was a civil to military take over and,not a military to military to military as in the case of vatsa, diya etc...hence it was an arrangement within the military setting and so buhari at that time was the most senior military officer at that time. As a matter of fact it was a tug of war on whether he or IBB should have become the C-in-C.. |
