HealthRe: Nigerians Can't Donate Blood In The US? by cheechako(m): 10:58am On Aug 29, 2006
Hi,

Don't feel singled out. I am an American and I cannot give blood either. Why? I have had Malaria. Once you get Malaria, it is said the Malaria never leaves. If you have had Hepatitius and some others, I can't remember, you cannot give blood. Africa is not the only nation plagued with Malaria and I am sure those countries would not be able to give blood. Don't feel bad and be happy you have a body full of blood and it is still flowing.

Be Cool
HealthRe: Is It Advisable For Two People Planning To Marry To Take An Hiv Test? by cheechako(m): 10:27am On Aug 29, 2006
Hi,

Trust is not the issue. If you fall in love with someone, their past is their past. Now and the future is Yours Together. Not only take the blood test to check for HIV, take the blood test to see if there may be complications in the baby making department. In some countries, blood test are required by law. We don't need it to be required by law but we should take the responsiblility upon ourselves for us and our future children. WoW! Lots of words. O.K. Just Do It! As Nike would say. Take the test.
LiteratureRe: I'm Writing A Musical Movie by cheechako(m): 10:09am On Aug 29, 2006
This a cool idea. There are different avenues to take. When you get the cast and crew together, you can try it out with a live audience for maybe a two week-end run. Of course this would take backing also, but, it is good exposure to perspective backers. Invite all you know to the opening night and away you go! I know stage performance is not too big in Nigeria, but why not make it BIG? With a Stage performance you would have program that would list all of your backers in their advert format. In this biz, you have to practically beg, borrow and almost steal to get the show on. As yu know the time it took to write the story, it takes twice the work to hit the pavement to bring the story to life. Keep the dream out of the sales and sell it as the backers benefit ie: Advertisement!!! You will get your show on the road and onto film. Good Luck to yu!
Christianity EtcRe: Do Catholics Believe in Being Born Again? by cheechako(m): 5:17pm On Nov 27, 2005
WHEW!!! I applaud each and everyone of you for showing the world that religous misunderstandings/misinterpretations do not have to end up in war with blood and dying and all that stuff. Let us all thank our god, through our own special way, for the INFORMATION HIGHWAY!!!! Now, Say Amen To THat!! There are hundreds of religous wars going on in the world today, what do you say we take up a collection and pass out some laptops and get them(The War People) on this thread. So, before anyone asks me what I am doing here, or what am I saying? Here Goes: I love all of you. I love all religions. I don't care if one religion does things differently and the other asks why are you doing it that way, it's wrong. I only care that each and everyone of you have a mind, a heart and power of how to use them. I care that at least everyone on this thread "HAS A BELIEF". Some don't. Go with your love and belief's and let others do the same. My wife is NIgerian/Christian, I am not. If she were Catholic, Muslim or whatever it does not matter. I love her until I die. We should love each other the same. If you believe in Jesus, do as he says, "Love thy neighbor".

Thank You All Again, OH, YOU do realize, this thread will go on forever as the Bible's opinions do make us Tick.
TravelRe: US Diversity Visa Lottery (DV-2007) Registration: October 5 to December 4 by cheechako(m): 3:42pm On Nov 27, 2005
joftech, good observation. you are correct, Nigerians are applying by choice, but where are the false hopes coming from. I have done the research, in the year 2003, approximately 700,000 Nigerians applied and the numbers I found of actual visas granted were about 45,000, but, this total is not only citizens this a compilation of visas for crews for shipping, and various other visas different from one you may apply for. So, the numbers actually would be quite less. This is not too cool of a percentage.
I agree with you on the supply and demand, but, where there would be a less applicants, we would think the price would be hegher. In Nigeria, with the high amount of applicants, we would thing the price could be lower (non-refundable). If you go into our u.s. department of state sites and other government sites you could find all sorts of info, it's very cool. It makes me wonder why the price is going so high today anyway. Years ago I could understand with no e-mail, internet, fax, etc. but now, it takes one person today to do the work of ten or more persons working yesterday. One internet connection, no postage. WOW! What really does this 100.usd cover? A night out on V.I. for the mindless behind the glass?
Thank you JT
TravelRe: Lagos Airport Runway Needs Urgent Repairs? by cheechako(m): 4:16pm On Nov 26, 2005
I am sure the runway's will be repaired, but, will the International Airplanes, such as the one I flew recently on Alitalia finally make it to the Scrapheaphuh? I have flown all over and it seems the planes that fly here are on their last leg/wing. Something should be done before we have a disaster. The Alitalia plane I was on had no services working in the back(aft)half of the plane, such as lights, music, help button. The seats were falling apart as was some of the interior on the sides by the windows. Did not look too promising. I wonder what, if any, maintanence is done at all on the planes flown to and from Africa?
TravelRe: Are you 18-30 years old? No British Visa for You! by cheechako(m): 4:10pm On Nov 26, 2005

TravelRe: US Diversity Visa Lottery (DV-2007) Registration: October 5 to December 4 by cheechako(m): 3:56pm On Nov 26, 2005
Do you really believe in the lottery?? O.K. Than I am the POPE! Do you really believe that your hard earned 100.u.s.d for registration for a visa other than the lottery will be approved and if it isn't, you wil get a refund on your money?? Than I am a WHITE ELEPHANT!! Stop wishin, young and old to go to america and quit making this embassy rich and RICHER! Did you know that this u.s. embassy goes through about 3,000 Nigerians hard earned 100.u.s.d. per day/non-refundable?? (In Algeria it is only 50.usd, HUH?) Do the math, it is about 6 million usd per month with a small percentage of visa's granted. They are laughing all the way to the bank. O.K., now the big one, I am an american, married to a beautiful Nigerian with 2 children and one on the way. Where am I now?? Well, I am not in the U.S.of A. with my beautiful family visiting my monther, their Grandmother for the holidays. WHY?? I was told to my face from a punk behind the window that my marriage is probably 419. Jeez! If their wasn't a glass between us!!@#$%^%&#@!!! Let's do the math again. I liked the bankers reply above me. Let's say you get a visa, no, let's say you get a work permit, wow! You get a minimum wage job with hopes of something better. That might be around 1000.usd per month, Government gets about 30% so you have 700.usd left. Ah Good. Wait, you need a flat, that should cost, wherever you live, maybe 4-500.usd per month, (with a 1st and last month deposit @500.usd ea.) this leaves you with maybe 200.usd. Now there is light, water, phone, transport, food, which might leave you with about 2.usd for a Guida on the last friday of the month. Very disappointing for a Nigerian who might have extended family obligations and nothing to send home. You see, the Embassies are merely a business entity, only they steal the money of good citizens crushing their hopes and dreams by denial. I have been only trying to get my family to visit and meet my/our american family, I don't even want to live there. I believe in the future of Nigeria and the power of the people. In short/long (lol) I guess I am saying DON"T GO! Don't even go to the embassy, stay away for, let's say one month solid and watch them SWEAT!
Good Luck to each and everyone of you. I do hope you fulfill your dreams.
