Kai, this is terrible. Peeps been complaining about IOM despite being expensive.

brizzle4:
[qFor Qlife medicals, Just call or email them, they will provide you with available date. On that day, go with your international passport and atm card for payment. You don't need to go with a passport photo as a photo of you will be captured there. Dazzol.

IOM Ikeja has to be the very worst. After booking on 30 Nov for a 9am appointment today & paying 46,500, they keep us standing outside their gate under the hot sun for 9hours. Then they claim they can only do medicals for people with IME no and that all others have to be next year. I could have just booked with Qlife for 35k since everything is next year. I wonder why IOM did not close their bookings if they knew they could not attend to people. It’s just terrible.

Oh! Right. I booked medical well ahead before I got ITA.

Yes still valid till February.

tshtsh:
Not yet. Medicals appointment is three weeks away . Invitation is valid still mid February . Plan to submit at the end of January 2021

My fellow ITA clincher. We got ITA same day. Have you submitted?

tshtsh:
Immigration policies changequite frequently and I'll use my experience as an example. In 2018 February a friend told me about express entry and I told him I was aware of it but I can't leave Nigeria without anything solid in Canada. I had also just been promoted at my job. At the end of 2018 I got promoted again and was taking home 560k monthly. Some of my colleagues who were taking home 700k monthly relocated to Canada ( we were all in out late 20s working in tech) and I was wondering why. At workplace we get extra pay for projects outside Nigeria and you can earn extra $8,000 if you work 3 weeks abroad and boys in late 20s / early 30's were somewhat comfortable. However, we had a change in management and a new department boss who was not a tech driven person and he frustrated the offshore work prospects. A good number of people use to get about two of those trips each year but in the 18 months there has been no such trip. People have now adjusted to their naira income despite the devaluation. It reminded me that in Nigeria you can wake up one morning and lose everything.

Nevertheless I summoned courage and reluctantly took the IELTs exam in October and also had my degree verified. My IELTS result was released on October 4th which got me a score of 473. However , I needed the TRF number to enter the pool (British council) which did not come till October 12th. I picked it up from the courier handling unit of my workplace on the 15th as I was too busy on the 12th, 13th and 14th. I was heading home with plans to enter the pool that day when I got stuck in traffic at the lekki-ikoyi link bridge caused by the endsars protesters . While waiting in traffic a friend called to ask if I got an ITA and I told him I was yet to enter the pool and he told me there had just been a draw with a cut-off of 471. I told him I will join before the next draw. I entered the pool same day.

Expected next draw on October 30th but it didn't happen. Two days later we heard of a policy change whereby bilinguals will receive additional 50 points and French proficient profiles will receive additional 30 points and I began to wish that I acted proactively. The next draw happened November 6 and cut-off was 478 which was 5 points higher than my score. A few days later we heard there was a policy change with profiles with Canadian education receiving extra 30 points. I used the CRS score calculator to verify this and rumour was true. Luckily it was reversed after two days. A draw was then held on November 18 and I received the ITA 12 days to my birthday. Negligence almost got me out of express entry. At a point I gave up and began to rely on the Ontario tech draw.

With this I'll advice anyone considering this to app;y as soon as possible as no policy is fixed

You will need your husband's ECA number and trf number for ielts to create EE profile except your husband is not accompanying you to canada then you can create with your details regardless of the score as far as it is not below 6 in each category.

Alternatively, you can create now and put spouse as unaccompanying when his ECA and ielts is out, you change it to accompanying and then update it. This is easier when you have not gotten ITA.

senoraaquila:
Hi everyone,

Please I need your assistance. I've searched and couldn't find any reasonable answer.

WES completed my evaluation on the 23rd of November. My IELTS result also came out end of November. Unfortunately the listening wasn't good and I had to register for another.

My husband's ECA and IELTS is not ready.
For the sake of tie breaking rule, Is it possible to create a profile for express entry with my current IELTS result and ECA evaluation, then update later? My birthday is February, hubby's IELTS is Jan 9 while his ECA is currently awaiting verification.

I will appreciate your response on this dilemma of mine.

I'm confused do I just go to a life with my international passport and photo and then pay there or do I have to pay online and book a date.

Yes I have written twice in Lekki however, on the two different occasions both the written tests and speaking were held at different locations in lekki. For me, the services are okay, for speaking, they use hotels and for paper based they use spacious halls of a hotel or event centres. The event centre that i remember vividly when I wrote in March and September is "Bespoke centre and the Bunker" respectively.

Debbieeeeeee:
Hi guys , please can anyone who has taken a test in the idp mod lekki test centre review their services and also where did the speaking test hold ?

Respect women...... grin cheesy

ShoeShineGuy:
Congrats o.. Women tend to have stronger faith. grin.. We were in exact situation but I couldn't stand the heat as she the PA was going to lose 5points in the 2nd week of December, so I wrote another IELTS on 12th October. The result came out yesterday. LRWS @ 7.5, 7.5, 7, 7.5. L was short of the minimum 8 and so I couldn't add the 2points to the 18 I have added already to take us to 471. Honestly, we were licking our wounds, asking how we allowed MOD to 'swallow' another 75k just like that and strategizing on whether I should give CDT a last try before her birthday arrived. It was in the middle of that conversation a brother I had been ranting to called and said there was a draw @ 479.. Well, the rest is history o. Ours is nothing but a story of grace.

Congrats once again bro.

That's because you click prompt for canada medicals without waiting to listen to the whole options.

The fourth prompt says to click 4 to speak with someone.

Yellowmellow:
Hello everyone.
Please I'm trying to call q-life to book an appointment for medicals but the prompt just keeps mentioning the things we are required to bring over and over again. I haven't been able to speak to anyone, is there an alternative option??

Hi everyone, I am really concern about my IELTS, it’s my first attempt and my listening is always between 32-34, i’m just stuck there, also it seems like I am the only one complaining of not having enough time to complete my reading , it usually takes me more than an hour to finish. Please what can I do to help myself? I am currently attending two different IELTS tutorials and I’m so sad and worried that I won’t be able to do well in my exam. It’s fast approaching, on the 5th

God bless you for your time and response. well detailed response. pls respond to my PM. My pof is in Zenith bank and i have not been sleeping well on what and what not to do. I will appreciate your response on pm. Thanks.

WeAreDLucky1s:
Hey AyeeshaB,

CAVEAT: I AM NOT A VO neither do I process applications for people, but like most people in this thread, I have applied for this, I want the best for everyone and surely, my application is in good stand. So, whatever is written below is an unbiased interpretation of what is on the IRCC's website alongside proven personal experience and knowledge from this forum.

I am particularly taking a keen interest in this question even if it has been answered multiple times before. This is because I delayed my "plugging" into the pool for almost 2 years searching for how to gather the POF, how to meet the requirement while ensuring that I abide by their rules (since 2017). Also, I feel it would be quite informative if I pour out all I know about it and the "general" confusion surrounding POF AND THE SIX MONTH SOA (Statement of Account).

I see the majority of your questions centers around POF, as such let's take a quick view of what qualifies in order to present an acceptable POF. (no sentiments attached)

So, I made a quick road trip to the IRCC's portal on the page with the sub-header "WHAT WE ACCEPT AS PROOF"; Link HERE. Image below.

In the image, I made some inkings with 4 Colours; - let me explain;
1. RED: What you cannot use - in your case, this has no effect, so we will skip it since you'll be using "Money in the Bank" (let's call it Cash). This by all means is the easiest form to prove because it is the sole form that meets their requirement 100%.

2. YELLOW: Borrowed Funds. Well, the only way the VO can prove that the money is not borrowed by you presenting ONLY A LETTER (This is what is requested) is by ensuring you have a history with the bank or financial institution, thus, the reason for the AVERAGE BALANCE FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. Note: this will be low if you just recently dropped a lump sum or rarely use the account. - A red flag. Also 6months Average is not 6Months SOA, in fact, you're actually giving the VO work to do by converting your raw data (cash entries) into 6months Average. - Sorry, no yellow inking on Nairaland tongue

3. GREEN: Readily available cash for settlement aka "everyday spending". This is where "CASH IS KING" got its entitlement and the edge over every other means for POF. Remember - CASH IS KING. I am a witness to this.

4. BLUE: How to Prove your money. This, clearly stated with 5 bullets and 4 sub-points what is required to effectively prove you have the minimum required money needed for settlement in Canada.

Now that we know what and how to prove a POF, let's have a deep dive into your questions.

1. Is it okay if the bank letter/ statement is up to 3 weeks old before the application submission date or what is a safe acceptable timeline?
- Please let's assume you stick with what is requested - A LETTER - NOT STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT! In this case, if you have always had your money since forever in that account, you may just pull up a recent letter that meets those requirements in the bullet. Note, recent here is subjective, however, if you can get a letter of 3weeks old in their requested format, I doubt it will be an issue.
ANS: It is Okay. There is no "safe acceptable timeline" per the information on the IRCC page.
Mine: First POF - a week old, Second: 2 weeks plus.
- Never got ADR for Fund. - Never! (FYI: Submitted POF twice because of the new addition, although my first already covers for the new addition(new baby), I just prefer to make documentation easy for the VO - Choice)

2. In a case where I want to include salary inflows into my account do I need the whole account statement for the duration or I can take a screenshot of the exact inflow days?
No one really asked for SOA (Statement of Account). This is just a conception someone coined possibly to avoid unnecessary suspicion and probably to explain some certain inflows. Well, today it has gotten general acceptance - I blame no one.
ANS: There is absolutely no need to highlight or screenshot specifics. If you want to add SOA, it should be because you want to "sleep well or at least give yourself the benefit of doubt" that you were able to prove your POF or cover your tracks, grin as the case may be.
MINE: First - Only the official letter from Zenith Bank - Savings Account, Second - Only the official letter from Zenith Bank - Savings Account! grin No SOA whatsoever - Na! I don't buy that. I believe in the simplicity of my application.
Note: both letters at the 2 Instances met their bullets - I ensured I drafted it for the bank and had them give me in that format. - You can PM me if you want a copy - signed/stamp and on their Letterhead. - Never got ADR for Fund. - Never! (My application was confirmed approved in 3months, if not for Corona wey come pour sand inside my garri, and now baby come join grin I no go kill myself nah grin grin grin)

3. Do all the addresses on all my documents need to be the same (current address, PCC, bank statement/letter, Pension letter). I have not updated my addresses in some of my banks.
ANS: Hey, worry less! The majority of these documents do not even have your past, current, or future address lol. Seriously, don't worry about all these. There are days ahead where you'll pray to sleep only because of endless thoughts about your submitted application and the wait. Please don't start this way. No Nah. Please get your document and upload it.
PCC - Purple page - No address, Bank Letter - No address, RSA/PFA - No address. So, why the headache. huh

4. Is it okay after application to move money from where it was, I do not intend to spend it, I just want to Invest it while I wait for PPR because it has been lying in my dollar account for months with no interest.
ANS: Please do not make things complicated, in fact, try to make it simple for you, yourself, and everyone. What I would advise you is to put on a scale, the benefit of both decisions - That is, if you leave your money the way it is in the bank VS if you move it. Trust me, if you do the latter it throws a red flag should they mistakenly ask for Schedule 4A - ADR for POF (You've got only one shot away from straight rejection - surely, you don't want to be in this situation) or even if your application has been approved and you fly, how do you want to explain to any "overzealous" CBSA officer at your POE.
My advice is please leave the money there, after all, unless you plan to stay ONE YEAR after PPR before you travel, then you can invest after PPR, the ROI on most investment isn't that glorious, anyways! When you reach your apartment for obodo Canada, you can make it the first in your TODO list grin
MINE: Family of 4 yet, I allow the money to stay stupid there in the bank by now (11months) it would be close to another Million if invested in ordinary yeye 12% Mutual Funds self. But 1M isn't worth a rejection abeg, only IELTS self take almost 600K from me. Biko I cannot come and settle fight with VO wey no like to hear word.

Once again, I personally want to say the issue of POF is one that has hindered many, caused rejection, and has caused many headaches to plenty. Like all issues of Money, always remember the easier it is to explain the better it is to convince, anyone.

I hope this has been informative and helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

Just go hubbys work history, you will be asked if he has work history? if you say no you wont need to provide reference letter. however, his work activities should be under his personal history which you dont need to get reference letters.

Prehciousness:
How did you change to No because I also filled hubby's work history and we have to provide reference letter

This is not true. Are you sure you have written ielts before? You are required to write on the question paper during listening after which you are giving 10 mins to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. No misinform people o

phabulous88:
In listening, you’re not even supposed to write in the question paper, whether CBT or paper based. You should write your answers directly as the recording only plays once

Thanks alot. I've answered no.

shadama:
Usually it has been advised that for accompanying spouse you should answer "no" when asked if the spouse has any relevant work history, since it won't count towards points of it's not in Canada. That way they won't ask for ref letter, and you can put his work history under the personal history section.
But yes, it is right to upload the same ref letter in each of the placeholders. It feels weird but you can.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Cheerfulmum: 6:01pm On Nov 23, 2020
Thanks. Answered no with immediate effect.

Mmamaroon:
....if your hubby's work experience is NOT in Canada, it is irrelevant CRS points wise....so move all those details to personal history.

....if your hubby's work experience is in Canada, I guess it makes sense to update the single letter you have multiple times...if indeed there are 3 different placeholders for uploading docs....

You don't need to use your new name for wes. Is your certificate not in your maiden name? go ahead and do your legal change of name and get the documents. if you are yet to get a passport I will advise you use your husband's name when you are getting it otherwise leave it until it expires. When you get ITA, Ircc will ask you for legal documents for change of name.

Iyanu6000:
Good Afternoon,

I need clarification please, i am about to do my change of name.

Please which name will i use for my WES, my new name or i should wait till after WES evaluation to change it.

Moreso, do i need to cancel my passport to bear my new name?

i will appreciate.

No vex bros. I actually saw this but my dilemma is that I don't want in a case they will start demanding for individual statement of account hence I asked for someone who has used. Our money together is not enough.

Kekereekun123:
If your spouse is coming with you, you can count money you have together in a joint account. You may be able to count money in an account under their name only, but you must prove you have access to the money.

(1) No, Dad statement of account not required..only gift deed will suffice
(2) I don't think your husband's SOA is needed, the LOE explaining sources of POF will normally be enough. (e.g: .....this gift from my dad was supplemented by 1,000,000 Naira from my husband to support our immigration/settlement plans)....the VO will see the said transfer bearing ur husband's name.
The only SOA you will need should be the joint account where the POF is in.

My question are: (1) does my dad need to print his own statement of account and submit alongside gift deed or just the gift deed is okay? (2) My husband wants to move his personal savings in his account to our joint account. After writing loe to say that he moved his personal savings, does he also need to show his SOA? Pls help, I have read page 1 and this question is personal.

The same question on my mind. The wait is tiring. Seems they want to alternate between 3 weeks now the way they did in the last draw. The more they wait the more people enter the pool with high scores. If they draw 2 weeks back to back scores will definitely drop.

Decision to Travel
First heard about express entry in January 2017 from my uncle. At that time, I was thinking I’m already in the US and should not need to move. Will probably find a job to file for me or a wife (people make it seem so easy). Fast forward to November 2018, I thought I didn’t want a status to determine my marriage and getting a straight PR makes more sense. I started researching the process and making moves.

ECA
My school’s registrar is a family friend so it was pretty much easy to run. I used ICES but can’t remember how long it took.

IELTS (LRSW)
I did not prepare much for the exam. I started looking for available date in November 2018. The earliest I saw at first was March 2019 and I felt it was too far away. Kept searching and in December, as I was about to go on a travel, I saw an opening for first week of January. I registered and was able to pay before liftoff. I basically used 2 weeks to prepare and with God, I passed.

ITA
I was on 435 and the cutoff that period was around 450 or so. I was in grad school but didn’t want to wait till after to start the process. It was my back up plan though. Luckily, Ontario invited me to apply for their nomination around August and I did. I applied same week because I had easy access to most of the documents. Was approved after 2months and got ITA on October 30th. I submitted my application on November 8th and got AOR instantly. Paid for the application and RPRF once because I read somewhere that it makes one’s application faster…sighs!

REFERENCE LETTER
Easy to get too. Submitted the reference letter from the only

POF
Took a risk here and thankfully, it paid off. I decided to use my naira account, same one I used for my Ontario application. I was not in a position to leave almost 4m sitting in my account for 6months. I had to make huge deposits after the ITA, submitted an LOE stating that the huge deposit was because I had to pull funds from my business and investments. I made sure to transfer the chunk from an account in my name though.

PCC
Getting both FBI clearance and Nigeria PCC was pretty much straightforward too.

AOR/MEP/BIL
June 25/July 25/July 26

POST AOR
I was confident the PPR would come fast, probably before the 6months timeline but how I was wrong. After submitting in November 2019, I just left it and focused on school. Graduated in February 2020 but still was not worried about the application yet. After 4 months, I decided to raise a CSE to figure my visa office and was told Nova Scotia. I remained calmed till ending of April when it was almost 6months. I started thinking about what could have gone wrong. Maybe it was the huge deposit. Sent a CSE and got the normal reply that they are still working on it. After the 6months elapsed, I decided to call them, I was told everything is cleared which calmed me down. Been waiting since then, sending some CSE but getting the generic response. On the 9th of August, I ordered for my GCMS, got it on the 27th and saw Review required. Everything is passed but the huge deposit was mentioned. I started wondering what to do…submit a new statement or not. Decided to wait for an ADR if needed. Sent another CSE asking for the status in October but got the generic response still. Nov 4th, a friend shared a post with me about someone whose COPR expired before IRCC got back to them saying an agent advised contacting them about readiness to travel when everything looks good on the GCMS. I decided to try it. I sent them this in a CSE on the same day: “I will like to state that I am ready to travel and to know the current status of my application. I ordered my GCMS notes and everything looks good but there is still no update on my profile in months. I have heard of people's COPR getting expired before they even get the ready for passport email and do not want that happening to me. Also, my medicals expires next week. Will I be doing a new one or it will be extended for me?”

PPR
After a full week without any reply, I decided to order another GCMS last week Friday and also tried calling but couldn’t get through. I was going to continue calling on Monday but woke up to find the mail sitting there, waiting for me. Thought I was dreaming or imagining it at first but it is real and I am so grateful. Hope and pray it ends happily for everyone on this journey.

Mar 2020 - IELTS - LRWS 9,9,7.5,7.5 Second attempt (MOD) - I used ieltsliz and ieltsonlinetests to prepare.
Apr 2020 - WES Evaluation for MBA
July - Got married and jumped into the pool next day CRS - 482
ITA - Aug 5

Medicals were done at Qlife Lagos, quite seamless. I booked via a phone call to the phone number on their website. We got there before 8 am and left around 11 am. PCC was at Alagbon. Wifey did one and same person affidavit at Ikoyi High Court same day.
Education - I attached BSc and MBA certs and WES

Marriage - I attached the wedding cert and a collage of pictures from our wedding.
Employment - got reference letters from my previous and current employer - same NOC, 5+ years in total. The former did not state salary earned so I added my employment offer letter which shows the salary breakdown. Thanks to Mamaroon for helping to check how my JDs match the NOC 6235
POF - 80% in Mutual Funds and remaining in spouse's account. I attached reference letters from SIAML for the mutual funds, from spouse's bank and a simple letter from her stating that I have access to the fund in her account. I also created a word document showing a breakdown of the POF accounts, the equivalent in CAD and screenshot from XE for the conversion rate used. All put together in a single PDF file.

I used icecream pdf for all merging and splitting. Saved all document and screenshots on the cloud too just in case.

LOE - I did a letter explaining each document uploaded at the major placeholders and why.
AOR - Aug 30 - all fees paid with a family friend's Canadian bank card. The rate was at 305 (super low - he just decided to help us)
ADR - Sep 22 - Schedule A Background Declaration form (IMM 5669) bearing an original signature. Had to submit my spouse's details all over again.
BIL - Sep 30, completed Oct 16.
I asked about visa office and application status via webform. The response came about a week later that our file was in Accra VO and that I could contact them directly if I so desire. Rude shock, but we took it with faith.
PPR - Nov 9. I don't know the word to describe how I felt. I am yet to recover from it even.

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed valuable information on this thread series. You guys are heroes!
