Raising import duty now means increasing the cost of living.

When I did Economics as a subject in secondary school, I was taught import duty is used to control inflow of foreign goods. That is, low import duty attracts more foreign goods while high import duty discourages patronage of foreign goods.

But today in Nigeria, high import duty does not decrease the demand for foreign goods because consumers in Nigeria refuse to give up on foreign goods. But I don't blame the consumers. The government does not control the standard of local goods. Using local goods is suicidal in Nigeria. Almost everything is faked at traders' backyards.

Some people may praise BAT for this new import duty. The praisers will claim the new import duty will boost Nigerian economy by promoting local goods. But it is not true. Buhari closed borders with the same logic but life has been getting worse after the border closure.

I didn't do anything, God smiled on me and I randomly looked and they had opened up some interview spaces in February. So i ended up doing it on February 10. Funny enough another family member had applied in early january and got March. So I actually got to submit before them.

Anyway last time I looked on the ustraveldocs site, they said it's 1 day appointment wait time, so go and check.

I applied for dropbox some time ago and it was approved last week. However, I only saw the email this evening. Go on the platform to schedule an appointment and the earliest appointment is in June. Unfortunately, my visa expired in April, 2019, so June will make it 50 months, not 48.

Is anyone in this situation? How did you manage it and what would you suggest I do.

I am not a fan of Apostle Suleiman and I do not think he is a saint - he surely has his own faults as a human being but until i see a credible evidence of all these allegations - they remain mere allegations - because Suleiman has real enemies out there and they tried to kill him - and there was evidence to that and those who tried to kill him will and can sponsor these allegations - sometimes its very easy to criticize others and forget if we are the recipients of such allegations - how will be feel if we were lied against without proof?
