FormerChief of Army Staff, General Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika has responded to the allegations made by Australian Negotiator that he is one of the sponsors of Boko Haram. General Ihejirika Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika during the meeting of the Alumni Association of members of Regular Course 18 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), at the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja described the allegations against him as frivolous and unfounded. Ihejirika who warned against giving undue attention to the Australian’s claims said the allegation was meant to divert the attention of the country and its security agencies thereby causing division. The ex-Army boss who warned Nigerians against utterances that could bring down the morale of Nigerian troops, a situation he described as dangerous. He also warned stakeholders and allies that the terrorists are currently exploiting the country’s ethno-religious, socio-political and multi-cultural faultiness to advance their cause, which they have not been able to achieve through violence. READ ALSO: Australian Negotiator Reveals Boko Haram Sponsors Iherjirika said:“If this accusation was made in a country like US or UK, it would not be discussed for one hour because they would wave it aside. But they are exploiting our traditional fault lines, a multi-religious multi ethnic, multi-cultural and young democracy, so what they have tried to do is aimed at achieving what they could not achieve. “I have chosen to do this because we cannot allow national security to be toyed with; the need for security awareness in spite of the effort I put in at time and the effort being put by the current leadership of the Armed Forces, the need for security awareness still persists. “I want to urge all Nigerians to join hands to support Mr. President and members of the Armed Forces in their onerous task to rid this country of terrorism. “I want to further advise that baseless, unfounded and frivolous allegations like this have the capacity of diverting our attention, away from the main problem. From Deputy Governor to Civil servant (Level 15)...There's God sha! |
Professor Adebukola Ositelu, consultant at the Lagos University Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba has said thatEwedu(known in English as a Long-Fruited vegetable), has the capability of preventing and maybe curing the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) by boosting the immune system. Ewedu (long fruited vegetable) Prof. Ositelu who disclosed this at the annual African Traditional Medicine Day organised by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Thursday, September 4 at Ikeja, Lagos, said the vegetable had a high potency to boost the immune system such that it’s usage would prevent an individual from being infected with Ebola. Ositelu, who is a professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Lagos, Akoka (UNILAG), added that the vegetable could also get rid of the virus in the case of an infected person, Daily Sun reports. On how to administer the treatment, she said the Ewedu should be rinsed thoroughly with liquid vinegar. Then it should be blended and cooked with drinkable water, without adding salt or potash (locally called akaun) or any other ingredients. Source: www.naij.com |
By Tony Edike ENUGU—THE impeached Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, reacted to his redeployment to the State Civil Service by Governor Sullivan Chime, saying it was intended to either insult or humiliate him. He confirmed that a letter of redeployment was delivered to his residence on Tuesday posting him to the office of the Secretary to State Government, SSG, as Deputy Director and directing him to handover to the new Deputy Governor on or before Monday, September 8, 2014. Onyebuchi, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu yesterday, described the redeployment as a joke, saying if those behind it had consulted their records, they would have known that he had formally resigned from the civil service before he contested the governorship election along with Governor Sullivan Chime in 2007. On his redeployment to Civil Service “When I got the information, I felt it was a joke or something just intended to insult and humiliate me. I can’t imagine what they intend to achieve by this. After serving as deputy governor for seven years and three months, I will go back to office as a civil servant on Level 15. “I know they have not forgotten that I left the civil service as Permanent Secretary and before I became commissioner. Sunday Onyebuchi “While I was serving as a commissioner, I took a leave of absence that enabled me serve out my appointment as a commissioner. Preparatory to my nomination to run for election as deputy governor in 2007, I formally disengaged from the State Public Service both as civil servant and as a commissioner and that is what made me eligible to contest election because it is known that you cannot contest election while holding a public office in Nigeria. “We all know that you cannot ask for leave of absence to join a political party and you can also not ask for a leave of absence to contest election because to contest election you must belong to a political party. So, I never applied for a leave of absence to contest election as a Deputy Governor because that will be against the law. I never applied to anybody for reinstatement “Having left office as a deputy governor, I never applied to anybody for a reinstatement as a civil servant because I have disengaged from the civil service. They tend to forget that if I did not resign before my nomination, that means that my name was still in the nominal roll of the civil service and that will also mean that I was not qualified to contest the election. “But they are aware that I contested election in 2007 and also contested in 2011 and if I was still a civil servant, either on leave of absence or in whatever capacity, it means that the ticket and the platform under which I contested with my boss, the governor, was faulty and invalid but I do not believe it was so because the opposition and those who lost the election would have used it as basis to appeal against our election. So it is very clear that the report of my posting or redeployment is either a joke or something intended to make mischief, either by a way of insult or humiliation.” There is nothing I forgot in civil service “It is not a question of whether I rejected the posting, there is no basis for it having disengaged from the service formally before I was nominated. So I want to put the record straight that I am not rejecting posting because there was no civil service appointment to go back to and there is nothing I forgot in the civil service that I want to go and pick up.” Source: www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/redeployment-intended-humiliate-ex-enugu-dep-gov/#sthash.zlJ5iNUU.dpuf |
Can we really believe this Australian? He's been revealing some shocking information. How are we sure he hasn't been compromised? Last Bullet: All roads lead to 2015 Election! Nigeria on the brink? |
Australian negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis, has accused the United States of not sharing intelligence on Boko Haram with Nigerian government. TheCable reports that the negotiator, who was in Nigeria for four months to negotiate the release of the abducted school girls from Chibok, Borno State, with Boko Haram commanders, questioned the value of the United States involvement in the war against insurgency. Related: Powerful Nigerians Don’t Want Chibok Girls Rescued – Negotiator “Americans claim they are doing aerial reconnaissance. Why are they not passing the information to the Nigerian military? With this information, the Nigerian military could intercept the Boko Haram convoy before it reaches its target,” he said. Davis while recounting the days and weeks he spent talking with commanders of the sect over the release of the Chibok girls, revealed that the terrorists usually move in a convoy of 20 to 60 vehicles at night, before they expanded and started launching large-scale attacks in the daylight. He also hinted on how the sect usually ambush Nigerian soldiers as a result of the hostile environment in the North-East, and described the incident of last six months as worrisome. He said most roads in the rural north of Borno are very narrow. “The militants normally strike at night, so they lay in wait where the military has to slow down to a crawl due to the poor road condition. Sometimes they dig the potholes deeper to entrap a convoy. On getting wind of the ongoing attacks, the Nigerian military would dispatch soldiers in a convoy of vehicles. Unfortunately, and unknown to the soldiers, the insurgents may have enlarged a big hole on the road. So in a convoy of say 20 vehicles, the first vehicle draws to a halt as it encounters the ditch. By the time the soldiers realise what is happening and try to make a U-turn, they are ambushed by the insurgents as the convoy struggles to turn around on the narrow pot-holed road,”he said. The negotiator, however, noted that military action alone is unlikely to end the insurgency currently bedeviling the country. Source: Naij.com |
The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, has asked Pres. Jonathan to arrest and hand over all those Australian Hostage Negotiator Stephen Davis, alleged to be sponsors of Boko Haram to the International Criminal Court. Oyegun said this while speaking with journalists in Abuja yesterday "The man who exposed the boko haram sponsors is a Jonathan appointed, paid, hostage negotiator so he definitely has no axe to grind. He was certainly not speaking on behalf of the APC because we didn't know he existed until out of frustration he finally decided to speak up. Now that the cat has been let out of the bag and the real sponsors of Boko Haram have been exposed, we hope President Jonathan is summoning the courage today to do what is right. Hand over the identified boko haram sponsors to the international criminal court for investigation and prosecution" he said Source: www.lindaikeji..co.uk |

After all the bad news that have been going round over the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West African countries, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, a piece of good news finally arrived some moments ago. Reporting online in the British journal Nature, researchers at the Public Health Agency of Canada announced that a prototype drug, ZMapp, that has been urgently given to a handful of patients with Ebola has cleared an important test hurdle. According to the scientists report, the drug test results showed that ZMapp cured lab monkeys that have been infected with the Ebola virus disease. READ ALSO: Suspected Ebola Victim Escapes It was gathered that it is a norm to experiment drugs on animals first and then on progressively larger groups of humans to ensure they are safe and effective. |
Canada says it will donate up to 1,000 doses of an experimental Ebola vaccine to help battle the disease's outbreak in West Africa. It comes after the World Health Organization said it was ethical to use untested drugs on Ebola patients. However, experts say supplies of both the vaccine and the experimental drug Zmapp are limited and it could take months to develop more supplies. More than 1,000 people have been killed by the current outbreak. Canada says between 800 and 1,000 doses of the vaccine, which has only been tested on animals, will be donated to the World Health Organization (WHO) for use in West Africa. However, it will keep a small portion of the vaccine for research, and in case it is needed in Canada. 'Global resource' The current outbreak has infected people in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria. Dr Gregory Taylor, deputy head of Canada's Public Health Agency, said he saw the vaccines as a "global resource". He said he had been advised that it would make sense for health care workers to be given the vaccine, given their increased risk of contracting the disease. A few people online are criticizing President Jonathan for allowing himself to be placed at the back row of this pic taken at the recently concluded US-Africa summit in D.C. Some say its disrespectful as he is the leader of the 'Giant of Africa'. But some argue that it really doesn't matter as long as he was recognized and invited. What do you think? Is there really anything wrong

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Friday in Abuja declared the control and containment of the Ebola virus in Nigeria, a National Emergency. Accordingly, the President has directed the Federal Ministry of Health to work in collaboration with the State Ministries of Health, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies to ensure that all possible steps are taken to effectively contain the threat of the Ebola virus in line with international protocols and best practices. Continue... President Jonathan also approved a Special Intervention Plan and the immediate release of N1. 9 billion for its implementation, to further strengthen on-going steps to contain the virus such as the establishment of additional isolation centres, case management, contact tracing, deployment of additional personnel, screening at borders, and the procurement of required items and facilities. The President commends the vigilance of aviation and health authorities in Lagos who identified and isolated the index case in Nigeria, the late Patrick Sawyer, an American-Liberian who flew into the country. He also applauds the good work of health authorities at both State and Federal levels who have traced persons who had contact with him, isolated other identified cases and embarked on massive public enlightenment. President Jonathan calls for even greater vigilance and co-operation at all levels to stop the Ebola virus from spreading further. As the effective implementation of the Federal Government's Special Intervention Plan will require other stakeholders to take certain precautionary steps that are supportive of the government’s initiative, the President calls on members of the public to follow all directives by health authorities and report any suspected Ebola case to the nearest health facility for immediate medical attention. He also enjoins the public to desist from spreading false information about Ebola which can lead to mass hysteria, panic and misdirection, including unverified suggestions about the prevention, treatment, cure and spread of the virus. President Jonathan urges that the movement of corpses from one community to the other, and from overseas into the country should be stopped forthwith. Every death should be reported to the relevant authorities, and special precautions should be taken in handling corpses. Religious and political groups, spiritual healing centres, families, associations and other bodies should, in the meantime, discourage gatherings and activities that may unwittingly promote close contact with infected persons or place others at risk. Public enlightenment agencies, including privately- owned media organs should support government’s efforts and disseminate correct information in all Nigerian languages, about preventive personal hygiene measures, the nature of the Ebola virus, modes of transmission and consequential steps to be taken in the event of infection. President Jonathan appeals to State governments and private day care, nursery, primary and secondary schools owners to consider the option of extending the current school holiday until such a time when a national reassessment of the level of the Ebola threat is conducted. The President further directs the National Emergency Management Agency and similar agencies at the state level to strengthen their public enlightenment campaigns and to use their networks to distribute hand sanitisers and other protective items nationwide. He has also directed the aviation and health authorities to embark on immediate intensification of the screening of travelers at all the nation’s borders. President Jonathan reassures everyone that the Government of Nigeria will continue to take every step, deploy all resources, and mobilize every support and assistance to check the spread of Ebola in the country. Medical workers and other health professionals are expected to regard this declaration of a National Emergency as a patriotic call to duty and service. BY TOMMYZEE. · AUGUST 8, 2014 So I just read this on nairaland. .I knew this was a rumour and definitely a prank. salt and water ? Ebola is a VIRUS and not a WORM! Read Below: I Started The Salt water Ebola Cure Rumor I Truly Am Sorry. My confession and apology Dear nairalanders and everyone who have heard of the ebola Prevention “News”, My name is Adesewa, I am coming out clean because what started has a joke has escalated into the unprecedented. How it started Yesterday i was with friend in her hostel, we were talking about this Ebola out break, when one of my friends, Funke (she introduced me to nairaland) brought the idea of Us playing a prank on our friends. The first suggestion was to tell people that aloe very could cure Ebola, but we thought it would sound too ridiculous so we forgot about it.Later that even an idea came to me (i now regret that i did it). I decided to send a BBM broadcast message to my friends, telling them that the Ministry of Health has asked everyone to bathe with salt and warm water and drink some of it. I sent the message 7:08pm yesterday Later this midnight i started getting calls and messages that i should drink salt water and bath with it. All efforts to tell people that i was the one who started the joke failed. Only my friends who i mentioned earlier believed me. Even my mum called me this morning, i did not know what to tell her. I am using this medium to beg you all to warn and tell everyone, before they drink salt and damage their health. Please dont be hash on me. I know this has gone out of hand. I never knew it will be this serious. Some have even added to the original message i sent. Source: http:///1ycu1L9 |

The U.S has taken control of $480million which is part of money stolen by former military dictator General Sani Abacha, after a court ruling in D.C on Wednesday August 6th. The U.S Department of Justice will now hand over the stolen money to Nigerian government, U.S government spokesman said yesterday. According to court documents, late General Abacha, his son Mohammed Sani Abacha, their associate Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others embezzled, misappropriated, extorted money from the Nigerian government and stashed them in various banks across the world. Continue... During investigations, $303 million was found in two bank accounts operated by Abacha and his cronies in the British offshore center of Jersey while $144 million was also found in 2 bank accounts they operated in France. Continue... They also operated three accounts in the UK and Ireland which had at least $27m. Investigations are still being carried out on claims to another $148 million in four investment portfolios in the UK. Prosecutors say they laundered funds by buying bonds backed by the United States using U.S. financial institutions including banks such as the Deutsche Bank AG, HSBC Holding Plc and Banque SBA. Assistant Attorney General, Leslie Caldwell said in the statement “Rather than serve his county, General Abacha used his public office in Nigeria to loot millions of dollars, engaging in brazen acts of kleptocracy". In June 2014, after a 16 year court battle, Nigeria was able to recover $228 million stolen by Abacha and his associates and deposited in Liechtenstein.
