Sooroptimist1: Can you stop hating
While no one says he did it alone but to diminish the Leadership role he offered to entrench opposition politicking while tactically building bridges and alliances across the Niger is to play blind
Have you come of age in 2003 when PDP under Obasanjo tricked, rigged and bulldozed his way into the SW and almost all the States in the SE where people affirmed that APGA won most elections but for the rigging machinery of the PDP whereby figures were falsified
It was only Tinubu who warned the then AD Governors about adopting Obasanjo as Presidential candidate just like APGA is foolishly doing now The AD Governors(apart from Tinubu) claimed SW solidarity with Obasanjo and the need not to disgrace him hence asked people in their states to vote OBJ for President and them as Governor a situation which got the electorates confused........thereby allowing PDP to rig unconscionably
It was Tinubu who kept drumming it to Lagosians then that AD had no Presidential candidate and should not make the mistake of voting for PDP......
Having won his re-election,he took it upon himself to singularly finance the resurgence and sponsor of candidates in several states since most politician then were battle weary and didnt want to play in the opposition as most of them never believed a ruling party could ever be defeated in Nigeria but for Tinubu's doggedness and vision
PDP penetrated and distabilised all the opposition parties by planting moles amongst them thereby making them to become factionalised.....
That was what led to the formation of AC.......and later rechristened ACN when some other politicians like Oshiomhole,Ngige,Ikimi,Atiku,Lawan Gwadabe, etc from across the Niger join to make it a National party Your last sentence is most satisfactory!! |

gohome: Suleman Hasheem, the man trekking from Lagos to Abuja has received four separate royal receptions in Niger State. He arrived Bida five days ago and was treated to a royal reception by Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar. While there, he passed two nights before proceeding to the next town and soldiers had to be deployed to disperse a crowd of locals trooping in to catch a glimpse of the 33-year-old man. Two years ago, Hasheem said, he made a promise to trek from Lagos to Abuja if Buhari wins the then-upcoming election, saying the purpose of terminating his journey in Abuja is where he thinks he could see the retired General and congratulate him. Hasheem, who grew up in Osun and Lagos, now lives in Ibadan where he is working with a construction company. He is currently in Suleja, Niger State, where he was also accorded a royal reception. Hasheem told Weekly Trust that his decision to embark on the mission was borne out of happiness he feels for General Muhammadu Buhari becoming a leader for the masses. He said in Bida four days ago that after 13 days of trekking, he had so far worn-out five pairs of shoes with a new pair just bought for him by a good Samaritan. He showed Weekly Trust the blisters on his feet, which made him pass two days in Bida, so as to treat himself. Hasheem said before embarking on his mission, he ensured that he was financially equipped but to his amazement, up to the time he arrived Bida, he did not have to spend a single kobo from his pocket because of kind, generous receptions he has been receiving. More pictures below:
At the time of this report, Hasheem was said to still be in Suleja getting set for the final lap of his walk , en route Abuja. What does he do for a living?? |

Haykay80: the political ingenuity of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which resulted in the victory of the party at the recently concluded general elections, the Royal Ambassador to the Alaafin of Oyo, Aare Ayandotun Ayanlakin has said he (Tinubu) had attained towering political heights similar to that of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
He insisted that with the enviable pedigree of Tinubu, there is no living Yoruba leader today that can match his record.
Aare Ayanlakin said this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Ibadan.
He further stated that just like his prediction a year ago that Governor Abiola Ajimobi would win the election, he said that the governor would become the Vice-President of the country sooner or later.
He said, “I agree that there is a saying that the people of Oyo State don’t serve one governor twice. But the saying arose because those who had been governing Oyo State, especially during the current republic, until Ajimobi came on board, had not been serving the people.
“They have been serving themselves rather than serving the people. The reverse is the case with Ajimobi. He has been serving the people and that is why the people of Oyo State gathered together and gave him a second term.”
Ayanlakin said, “Since Ajimobi assumed office, the masses have witnessed tremendous change and that is why Ajimobi broke the age-long second term jinx because he is an outstanding governor, who has made land mark achievements and the electorate will vote for him on that basis.
“He has transformed almost all sectors. He has built roads, transformed the health sector, turned around education and agriculture, created a peaceful and conducive atmosphere and improved the welfare package of workers.” - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/2015-polls-tinubu-fits-into-awolowos-shoes-says-alaafins-aide/#sthash.TUnbNyXm.dpuf So his effort alone made it happen right |
Politics › Re: Jonathan Transition Team Trickish – Buhari Campaign Group by Chiaka(f): 9:33am On Apr 20, 2015 |
Omooba77: Director, Media and Communication of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Garba Shehu, has described the transition committee, set up by President Goodluck Jonathan, as trickish.
The committee set up by Jonathan, who lost the March 28 presidential election, is expected to meet with the one to be set up by the President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), ahead of the May 29 inauguration of the new administration. But Shehu, in an opinion article, which he released on Sunday, said Jonathan’s committee was constituted by “the worst of our prejudices.” He warned the Buhari-led incoming administration to be careful about its choice of people who would constitute its own version of the committee. He stated, “The President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has earned an incredibly high amount of goodwill following his acceptance of the outcome of the election, which itself had the effect of de-escalating tensions not just among Nigerians but all over the continent.
“But the President’s committee on transition and handover looks to be a trickish one. It seems to be like one drawn to ‘massage’ the numbers and ensure safety for ‘team Jonathan’.
“Some names on that list have certainly made the eyes pop out of their sockets. In the President’s list, you have men and women who reflect the worst of our prejudices; men and women who have made themselves the mouthpieces for everything regressive.
“This is one reason why President Buhari and his party cannot be too careful on choosing who they will give their part of the assignment to. There is no room for complacency in doing this either. Nothing that puts the new government at a risk should be allowed to happen.”
Shehu, who warned that politicians should be excluded from the committee to be set up by Buhari, insisted that the committee should be peopled by technocrats.

Politics › Re: Tension In EKITI As Impeachment Crisis Worsens by Chiaka(f): 9:23am On Apr 20, 2015 |
Johnnyessence: VANGUARD — There appears to be no end in sight to the current face-off between the 19 All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly and Governor Ayo Fayose. Some 20 minutes after leaving a church service where the clergyman advised the governor to embrace peace by reconciling with APC lawmakers, Gov. Fayose made a live broadcast on the Ekiti State Radio and Television, ESRT, where he told Ekiti people to defend their mandate from the APC lawmakers, who he claimed were coming to invade the state to impeach him today. But the lawmakers are insisting on going ahead with Fayose and his deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola’s removal. This is coming barely 48 hours after Fayose promised to dialogue with the aggrieved lawmakers. To ensure that the APC lawmakers would not achieve their motive, the Okada riders association and the commercial transport workers operating in the state are toeing the path of the governor by telling their members to converge on the premises of the state House of Assembly today at 6 a.m and defend the mandate freely given to Fayose and his deputy during the June 21, 2014 governorship election. During the governor’s live broadcast on the ESRT, he told the people to defend their mandate from the invading APC lawmakers and defend him against the alleged impeachment. He urged drivers and Okada riders in particular to move out en-masse to defend his mandate, saying: “My mandate is your mandate and you must defend it.” Okada riders, NURTW mobilise members Barely 10 minutes after, two statements emerged on the state radio as public announcements that were being broadcast intermittently. Below are the transcripts of the two statements from the drivers union and Okada riders association. “All Okada riders in Ekiti State are enjoined to be on the look-out for strange faces in the state from tomorrow. This is because it has been gathered that APC lawmakers working with Dr Adewale Omirin are planning to truncate the peace of the state by invading the state with armed thugs. “All Okada riders in the state should be mobilised to the House of Assembly by 6 a.m tomorrow. Governor Fayose’s mandate is the mandate of Okada riders. We must defend it with the last drop of our blood.” Signed: Niyi Dahunsi, Chairman, Okada Riders Association. In another announcement, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, through its chairman, Clement Adekola said: “Information available to us is that the APC lawmakers are planning to invade the state with lorry-loads of thugs recruited from Lagos and Osun states tomorrow. “The APC lawmakers have vowed to kill anyone that stands on their way to achieving the plot of impeaching Governor Fayose and his Deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola. “We, therefore, alert all members of our union to be on the look-out from tomorrow. All drivers unions members should be prepared to defend the mandate freely given to Governor Fayose. “Our members should monitor movement of vehicles into Ekiti State from today so as to prevent invasion of thugs whose only intention is to kill our people. We gave our mandate to Fayose and we must be prepared to defend it.” It was signed by Samuel Agbede, Chairman, Road Transport Workers Association of Nigeria and Clement Adekola, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers. Stop inciting Ekiti people, APC lawmakers tell Fayose The 19 APC lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly in a reaction to yesterday’s broadcast by Governor Fayose, said the governor was never committed to peace. A statement by Special Adviser on Media to Speaker Adewale Omirin, Wole Olujobi said the governor had in his broadcast demonstrated that he was never committed to the peace he preached barely 24 hours before his inciting broadcast. The statement said: “How do you reconcile this inciting broadcast with a plea he made for peace not quite 24 hours earlier which Ekiti people and indeed Nigerians thought was a good move by the governor to thaw the frozen relationship between him and the lawmakers? This is a confirmation of what Omirin said in his Sunday Punch interview that the governor can’t be trusted in any peace move.” Olujobi expressed regrets over failure of the governor to embrace the homily by the clergyman in his thanksgiving service where he was admonished to embrace peace with APC lawmakers by paying their entitlements and seek genuine reconciliation to move the state forward. According to the statement, “it is shocking that the governor, who refused to make any remark or commitment during the church service after the man of God appealed to him to embrace peace, could go on air few minutes after the service to start inciting workers, traders, Okada riders and artisans to defend him with their last drop of blood. “As if his live broadcast was not enough, Ekiti people were shocked when a public service announcement started running intermittently on the state media urging Okada riders to look out for strange faces across the state and attack them because they are thugs that are being imported by APC lawmakers. “They are also to converge on the House of Assembly as early as 6 a.m today to prevent the lawmakers from performing their legal duties.” Stressing that they were not planning any invasion of the state with thugs, the lawmakers called the attention of Nigerians to the unlawful acts of the governor in his desperate move to ensure that the lawmakers are rendered ineffective in the discharge of their lawful duties. “We have said for the umpteenth time that the governor would be given a fair hearing. He has nothing to fear. He should continue to have faith in the Nigerian constitution. He had just won a constitutional matter at the Supreme Court. We will apply the same law that the court used to give him victory. He is an Ekiti man. We don’t hope to punish him unjustly,” the statement added. It stressed that Fayose could not benefit from the law and at the same time prevent other elected representatives of the people from enjoying the same benefit. “The best he and his deputy can do is to appear before the panel to be set up by the CJ and defend themselves. This is the rule of law which he has benefited from and there should not be an exception to this,” the statement added. Fayose not inciting anyone —Aide Meantime, the Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, has described as false, claim by the factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, that Fayose was inciting the people against the APC lawmakers. He said: “The reality in Ekiti State today is that the people are rising up to defend their mandate and if Omirin and his APC lawmakers are not working against the people’s mandate, they have nothing to fear.” Olayinka said the APC should rather ask themselves what they have done to offend the people to the extent that none of the lawmakers, who sought re-election was re- elected at the April 11 election. He asked whether it was Fayose that incited the people against the APC on March 28 and April 11 when the people openly rejected the party with their votes. The governor’s aide, who reiterated Governor Fayose’s commitment to peaceful resolution of the crisis in the state House of Assembly, added: “The governor cannot stop the people who voted for him from protecting their mandate. “Some of these people who called themselves elite were in the comfort of their bedrooms in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and abroad when Okada riders, traders, drivers, workers, artisans, students and all the common people of Ekiti stayed in the sun and rain to cast their votes for Fayose. “Because Fayose wants peace and he is committed to it, those who gave him the mandate to govern them for four years should not defend their mandate if it is being threatened by a few people who they have rejected with their votes? “Instead of making noise in the media, the APC lawmakers, including Omirin and those deceiving him with the prophesy of him becoming acting governor of Ekiti State should face the reality of their total rejection by Ekiti people and stop running from Idanre to Lagos, Osogbo and Abuja trying to uproot the tree planted by the people of Ekiti.” Uniform men storm Ado-Ekiti — APC Spokesman for Dr Adewale Omirin, Wole Olujobi late last night alleged that scores of soldiers in about 12 vehicles stormed Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, in what looked like a covert operation in aid of Governor Fayose who squealed early in the day alleging possible invasion of the state by APC lawmakers today. It’s a lie —Fayose’s aide But the governor’s Special Assistant on new media, Lere Olayinka responded saying: “I am in Ado Ekiti as I write. In fact, I am along Ijigbo area of Ado Ekiti. I have not noticed the presence of any soldier.” www.newspunch.org/tension-in-ekiti-as-impeachment-crisis-worsens/ Wahts this They should allow the governor to work a beg! every day is one impeachment story or the other |

Thank God the JANJA has com to rule you all. For the fact that I support PDP does not mean APC should phase off, Visvarsa. America thrives on 2 strong party system. While one rules, the other check/criticises it failures that way a lot of good adjustment is achieved.....in the system. Sometimes they get tired and just try the other party to see what they got to offer. 'US is happy over this change in power' in Nigeria because it was the same change 'Slogan' that was used during Obamas campaign and also hearing that APC is promising a lot of good change to Nigeria. Is narrow mindedness not to look beyond and above tribe and religion.......which is still the case in Nigeria and hoping we will grow pass that. So grow up Tribal bigot! Adenex3051: I have watched with keen interest the controversy generated by President Good luck Jonathan's concession of defeat and congratulatory call to GMB after losing the election. While some sections of the Nigerian media, the political class and some nonpartisan respected individuals and even international media and eminent personality hailed the act to high heavens, it was heart breaking reading how some Nigerians especially some members and sympathizers of the APC condemned President Goodluck Jonathan's act of humidity and courage on some social media including on Nairaland here Now, my question is this: did General Buhari congratulate any of his previous political opponents after losing the previous election? That is, did he congratulate Presidents Obasanjo, Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan in 2003, 2007 and 2011 respectively when he lost against them? If the answer is NO, then let us appreciate President Jonathan if just for this irrespective of his "sins" against the Nigerian people afterall our President-elect was never as magnanimous as that against his previous opponents even as good a man as he is. Simply put he never did. !!! |

princdebola201: Blame Past And Present S/E Governors Not The Oba Of Lagos By Jessica Obioma My husband and I really relished the jokes that flooded social media as a result of Oba Akiolu’s threat to drown the Igbos living in Lagos in the lagoon if they don’t vote for his candidate – Akinwunmi Ambode. The one that takes the cake is not Basket mouth’s discounted live jackets for the Igbos. No, it’s the one that says Igbos living in Lekki had refused to come out on the Election Day to vote because they live next door to the lagoon. I thought that was hilarious. Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu Now seriously speaking. That threat by the Oba wasn’t funny at all. However, nothing about those crude, mean comments from the Oba surprised me because this particular Oba has always come across as one of the few less accommodating Yoruba men I have ever seen. Royalty is not about brute force or hooliganism. But let me move on. It’s about time my brothers and sisters from Igboland sat back and took stock of how and why things have turned out so hopelessly and helplessly for them. The civil war ended many decades ago. How did they sit back and allow a few mean greedy and little-minded kleptomaniacs from their own tribe reduce them to a charity case in other lands. Why have they allowed past and present South East Governors to rob them of not only their means of livelihood but also their right to live and work in their home land? Once the enabling environment is not there for you to thrive and blossom you are forced to seek solace elsewhere. And that’s what the systematic looting of state resources by past and present South East government have done to sons and daughters of Igboland. Why won’t the likes of Akiolu denigrate them when their own so called leaders have devalued, diminished and degraded them? Some years back, a man called Sam Mbakwe as Governor of Imo state showed selfless leadership by making the welfare of the citizens a priority. He was ready to suffer mockery in the hands of the Shagari government, and was labelled the “weeping Governor” because he was bent on making sure his people were not denied their entitlements. He spent the state resources on developing the people and their communities. Even the blind saw it and the deaf felt it. He did not need to appoint any PR consultant or Lying Press secretaries to peddle lies in the media about invisible legacy projects. Dee Sam Mbakwe, as he was fondly called by all, provided good roads, clean drinkable water everywhere and affordable quality medical care. Even though the state capital was Owerri, he constructed good roads with deep drainages in major cities like Aba and Umuahia. He set a standard which subsequent Governors refused to emulate due to sheer greed and wickedness. And he did not have the kind of billions these Governors have been swimming in. Mbakwe gave all Imo state University students bursary awards, and Jim Nwobodo did same in Anambra. Workers received their salaries promptly. Parents were able to take charge in their homes. Business boomed in Aba and Onitsha. People came from all over Nigeria to buy goods from these markets. But today Onitsha and Aba look like war zones with horrific odours everywhere. Since I999, the South East have been bedevilled by heartless, blood thirsty, and the worst breed of greedy Governors. They have been ruling with high handedness, roguery, and lies. It’s been a case of Me-my-mother-son and family plc. You dare not raise your voice or you pay with your own blood. So, our helpless and almost castrated Igbo men, who cannot challenge their Governors, go about chanting things like “OBJ hates us, even though his government paraded so many ministers from Igboland, Hausas don’t like us that’s why they killed us during the civil war, oh, Yorubas loathe us, in fact they are all tribalistic.” So what about your own blood, your kith and kin in leadership positions? One of you was Vice President Ekwueme, then came your so called President Ebele Jonathan, another is the SSG Anyim, Ngozi has been in charge of the nation’s coffers for years yet most of you have not been paid salaries in the states since December, the Aviation Minister until lately was Stella your own sister, what has come out of all these? They just served their pockets and not the interest of the Igbos. Awolowo gave his tribe free education and Fashola is doing the same in Lagos. Now Igbo young men and women have left their homes to come and work in Lagos as house helps so that they could enjoy free education. Abia state Governor sacked all the civil servants and teachers in Abia who are not Abia indigenes even though some are married to husbands who live and trade in the state. If it were a Yoruba Governor that did that Igbo hypocrites, who dare not talk in their states, would chant to high heavens about tribalism. Go to that slum called computer village in Lagos and you will see handsome but haggard-looking unkempt young Igbo boys hanging around dirty shops in the name of apprenticeship. They can hardly finish a correct sentence in English. The same Igboland that was reputed for thriving in education no longer cares about it. You now have to be a thug to a rogue politician, a Malaysian- based drug pusher, or a 419ner with a base in South Africa to make it as an Igboman. Courtesy of our Governors. God will certainly reward these thieving Governors. When you look at the map of Nigeria and see the small area called South East you can see that it would not cost much to develop it. If only these Governors could use up to 50 per cent of the allocations they collect monthly from the federal government there would not be so much poverty and deaths in Igboland. The biggest industry in Igboland now is burials. People are just dying of malaria and high blood pressure because they cannot afford medical treatment and they can’t afford even a meal a day. They all look so malnourished and traumatised even though they are not in a civil war. The South East especially Abia state have paraded the worst set of Governors in the country since 1999 because these Governors make a living out of rigging elections and subverting the will of the people. Any state INEC chief that comes is easily bought over with hundreds of millions of the people’s fund that’s how they keep perpetuating their stooges in power after they have looted the state treasury for eight years. They continue to use their anointed and rigged-in stooges to milk the state coffers. The South East have never enjoyed democracy so their people keep running and seeking a better life elsewhere in Nigeria.
