Nobody wants a one party system but how do you ensure the country doesn't become a one party state? Is it by encouraging the murderous rampage in rivers state and akwa ibom? What will you do if APC does exactly same in subsequent elections?

Did anybody ask PDP not to complain? The question is why tag APC 'bad losers' because they complained about some elections when PDP themselves have their own complaints?
People voted their choice. APC where the ones hiring tugs to disrupt elections and laying it on PDP. ....Its called democracy. Yam head!! we voted pour choice and will have no regrets about it by Gods grace. None sense talks why is it only APC complaining where they got defeated.

I believe that as Nigerians mature democratically, issues like this will be tabled. Many Nigerians are yet to grow above tribal insults and spirit of sportsmanship as regards elections and voting. For starters, majority of Nigerians are not aware that it's not compulsory to "follow the crowd" and even while doing that, it is even necessary to not intimidate any person or group of persons, who choose to vote for someone else irrespective of the location or state.
This is democracy remember that thumb printing on the ballot paper is secret. It is made so in order to give the citizen the right to vote for whoever he/she chooses.
Its not healthy for the system and economy to vote their choice.

Most of the votes are based on tribal/religious sentiment , SS/SE are same people hence they got similar vote pattern.

Why are their no threads on why the north have the same voting pattern. For peace sake we leave matters the way they are.

I don't think we owe anyone any explanation for voting whoever......its choice and its Nigerian democracy

LAGrejectIBO:
Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, on Wednesday said the Yoruba in the South-west were behind the successful outing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the recently concluded general election in the country.

The governor made this statement at the Presidential Lodge in Lafia, the state capital, on Tuesday night while receiving the Yoruba community in the state led by their President, Alhaji Afees Adigun.

In making this assertion, the governor stressed the role played by Yoruba elements during the merger process of opposition political parties which transformed into the  APC saying their contribution “could not be quantified in naira and kobo.

“I cannot forget the role our Yoruba brothers played during my reelection campaigns and I will forever remain grateful to them. Despite that you, the Yorubas People are not originally from Nasarawa State, you have appreciated the projects executed by this administration in the past four years and have given us your supports,” Al-Makura further stated.

The governor went on to say that apart from the monumental achievements of APC-led governments in various states, which saw the party triumphed phenomenally at the polls, Nigerians were truly yearning for change due to the confidence and trust they have reposed on the president-elect,  Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier at the occasion, the leader of the Yoruba group, who  is also the Special Assistant to the governor on national integration, Afeez Adigun, said Al-Makura’s commitment to the development of the state prompted the Yoruba community to give him and other APC candidates unflinching support during the election.

torkaka:
[b]A lot has been said about Gov. Musa Kwakwaso's comment on Almajiris kicking Jonathan out of government, while I am not interested with the exact words Kwankwaso used, I find irritating, the deliberate and desperate attempt by certain sections of the polity to create a new meaning to the word Almajiri.

The word Almajiri is from the Arab word 'Almuhaajir' which means male migrant or 'Al-Muhajirun' which means emigrant, a concept which was derived from the migration of the Prophet from Mecca to Medina.

The word Almajiri in Northern Nigeria is referred to a mendicant (one who practises begging with religious affiliations), an Almajiri lives away from his home, and is under the custody of a malam while studying the qu'ran, in the process of studying the qu'ran, the Almajiri practices 'renunciation' hence an Almajiri has to beg for food to sustain his life, for the period up on till he is able to recite the holy qu'ran thoroughly and commit it to memory after which, the Almajiri leaves the malam.

An Almajiri is not an under aged person as certain people will now want us to believe, some have even gone far to say Kwankwaso's statement is proof of the northern elites approval for under aged voters. The same way Patience Jonathan erroneously referred to Almajiris as 'born troways' so is it people are now erroneously reffering to Almajiris as under aged.

An Almajiri is simply a begger who begs on religious grounds.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Is My Role Model –kashamu by Chiaka(f): 8:24am On Apr 16, 2015
Larufa:
SENATOR-ELECT and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Chief Buruji Kashamu, has described the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as his role model.

Kashamu, who is the chairman of the Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the PDP in the South-West, paid a rare tribute to the former Lagos State governor in an open letter, describing Tinubu as a true hero to be emulated by every Nigerian.

Kashamu is the senator-elect of Ogun-East senatorial district and one of the most vocal opponents of the APC before the party won the presidential election of March 28.

He said that it was important to honour those deserving of honour now that elections are over.

In the open letter addressed to Tinubu, Kashamu said, “Truth be told, men like you are made up of sterner stuff and are rare to come by in every generation. Little wonder you are called the Asiwaju and Jagaban of Borgu. I doff my hat.

“I hope that in spite of our membership of different political platforms, we would be able to collaborate for the upliftment of Yorubaland in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

“My sincere prayer is for the Almighty Allah to keep you and give you good health and long life to be able to see the Nigeria of your dream. For me, I join other Nigerians in wishing you the best, even as we aspire and pray Almighty Allah to make us – the younger ones – be like you, the Jagaban of Borgu.”

Kashamu described Tinubu as the architect of modern Nigeria, who, he said, made history by leading an opposition party for 16 years and then grabbing power at the centre.

He noted that without Tinubu, the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, would not have won the March 28 election.

He said, “Although I now belong to the opposition, your achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them. There is no denying the fact that your place in the history of the Yoruba race in particular, and, in Nigeria in general, is well etched.

“The fanatical support that the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, enjoys in his homestead was matched with your commanding influence in the politics of the South-West and indeed the Yoruba race to produce the results we witnessed during the elections.

“By your sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, true federalism and economic prosperity, you led the Alliance for Democracy from a one-state party to a regional party and now a national party that is about to form the government at the centre.”

Buruji, who sued former President Olusegun Obasanjo last December over a controversial book authored by the ex-President, also congratulated Obasanjo and Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

He promised Amosun that he would ensure that the nine PDP senators in the Ogun State House of Assembly give him maximum cooperation.

Politics › Re: Ex-militants Among Newly Elected Lawmakers In Rivers Assembly by Chiaka(f): 4:46pm On Apr 15, 2015
Franchise21:
Some of the dreaded Niger Delta militants, who accepted the Federal Government’s Amnesty, have been elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report.

The late President Musa Yar’Adua had in 2009 signed a Proclamation granting Amnesty to Niger Delta militants, who agreed to lay down their arms and embrace peace.

The deal offered an unconditional pardon and cash payments to fighters who surrendered their arms and assembled at screening centers located in many parts of the oil-rich region within 60 days.
It targeted up to 10,000 militants whose attacks in the six Niger Delta states cost the country a third of its oil production and revenue.

The amnesty which came to effect on Thursday, August 6, 2009, saw militant commanders, including Government Ekpemukpolo, alias Tompolo, Sogboma George, Ateke Tom, Farah Dagogo, Ebikabowei Ben, alias Boyloaf, Kile Selky Torughedie, alias the Young Shall Grow; surrendering their arms and returning to normal life outside the creeks.

But based on the result of last Saturday’s election released by the state Returning Officer, Faraday Orumwense, a professor of Material Engineering, the ex-militants are among the 25 candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, who won the poll.
The ruling All Progressives Congress was only able to win a seat in the 32-members state legislature.
Citing widespread irregularities and violence, Mr. Orumwense declared elections in six state constituencies inconclusive.

Among those who will be making laws for the oil-rich state are Farah Dagogo, an ex-general of a dreaded militant group.

Mr. Dagogo, an indigene of Tombia community was dragged into the race by the Degema Political Front, a frontline political group and he will be representing Degema State Constituency in the assembly.

Adoki Tonye Smart, who will be representing Port Harcourt 11 State Constituency in the new assembly was a former field commander and second in command to Soboma George.
Late Mr. George was a dreaded militant leader who was shot by a rival gang in the Old Port Harcourt Township, months after he accepted the government’s amnesty.

Chisom Promise Dike, who won the Oyigbo State Constituency seat in the assembly, is a strong ally of Ateke Tom, a self-styled General of the erstwhile Niger Delta Vigilante Forces.

Mr. Tom, now referred to as the godfather, has become an institution of sorts in Ijaw politics and has strong influence in Okrika land.

He even contested the PDP gubernatorial primary in the state but was trounced by Nyesom Wike.
Kelechi Nwogu, who will be returning to the assembly to represent Omuma State Constituency, is said to have strong links with some of the ex-fighters in the region.

Evans Bipi, the factional speaker of the 7th Assembly, who was chased out of the chamber while attempting to impeach Governor Rotimi Amaechi, with five other lawmakers, will be returning to the house to represent Ogu/Bolo State Constituency.

Mr. Bipi is a relation to Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, and is also said to have strong links with Mr. Tom and other militant leaders in the region.
It was the House Leader, Chidi Lloyds, who stopped Mr. Bipi and his accomplices from going ahead with the plot to illegally remove Mr. Amaechi from office.
Mr. Lloyds had used the fake mace brought in by Mr. Bipi to thoroughly beat up and chase away the anti-Amaechi lawmakers from the floor of the assembly in 2013.

Mr. Lloyds, a strong supporter and friend of the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, did not return to the assembly.

Other PDP member in the new assembly include Marshal Stanley-Udom who will be representing Abua/Odual, Okpokiri Okpokiri, representing Ahoada West; Jack Major, representing Akuku Toru 1; Tonye Alalibo, representing Akuku Toru11; and Ikuinyi Ibani, representing Andoni.

Others are Granville Wellington from Asari-Toru 1; Enemi George from Asari-Toru 11, Abinye Pepple from Bonny; Ngbulelo Israel from Gokana; Oguguo Anslem from Ikwere; Deeyah Bariene, Khana 1; Dinebari Loolo from Khana 11 and Amaewhule Chike from Obio/Akpor 1.

Also elected on the PDP platform are Michael Chinda from Obio/Akpor 11; Christian Ahiakwo from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni 1; Uwaji Nathaniel from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni 11; Dabotorudima Adams from Okrika; Ogbonda Nwene, Port Harcourt 1; Ihunwo Nyeche, Port Harcourt 11 and Ngbar Amulele from Tai.

The only APC candidate declared winner of the assembly poll is Josiah Olu, from Eleme State Constituency.

Mr. Olu, a staunch supporter of Mr. Amaechi, will be returning to the new house with a PDP majority.
However, elections to Ahoada East 1, Ahoada East 11, Emuoha, Etche 1, Etche 11 and Opobo/Nkoro were declared inconclusive.

INEC is yet to fix dates for the conduct of fresh elections in the affected areas.
