Our zonal director (sssb) visited our school with his team on Tuesday and made mention of that. He said that we should expect three months arrears (June to august). He said he doesn't know if it will be paid together or not. He also said that he knows for sure that august arrears will be paid this month.
Let's keep hope alive.

Informative!!! Thanks for sharing. Please can you also give tips to submit PGDE? I've not submitted mine and have not even gotten the approval. Please, I need the steps from scratch..
When I applied for my approval, there are some of my colleagues that finished their PGDE some years earlier that I submitted theirs too, and it was approved since it was NTI weekend part-time program.

So, you can apply for approval of study, and use it to submit your PGDE certificate. Better still, if you have TRCN certificate, apply for submission and recognition of your TRCN certificate, attached photocopy of your PGDE certificate for Documentation.

What you really need now is TRCN certificate, for recognition and addition of one step.

Very clear. Thanks sharing.

Few questions.

application for submission and recognition of TRCN certificate. ....is that the heading? Or do you have any sample or guild for it.

Which office are we submitting to.
I
If you are just collecting the cerrificate: What is the requirements for collection of the TRCN certificate.
The heading should be APPLICATION FOR SUBMISSION AND RECOGNITION OF MY TRCN CERTIFICATE no special celebration, even the approval is not needed at this stage. Once you have your TRCN certificate that mean you are a certified teacher and professional teacher.

No interview or screening is needed at this stage, only your application letter, and attached photocopy of your TRCN are needed. In your application remember to include your staff ID card number, and computer number.

Direction: As you enter the PPSB compound facing the main building, then move to the building at the right hand side, climb the upstair, ask any staff, he/she will direct you where to submit it.

The application can be both handwritten or typed. Mine was handwritten.

To collect your TRCN certificate: if you have your PGDE or any other qualification in education, register for TRCN exam, write and pass the exam.
When the result comes out, you will pay a certain amount to apply for your certificate, it usually take some months to come out. Maybe 4 to 8 months, better still, you can follow it up by calling their state coordinator.

TSS has an educational qualification and is placed on a higher salary, CONPSS of same level and step earns a much lower salary cause he or she doesn't possess an educational qualification .
Basically the difference lies in the fact that qualified teachers are placed on TEACHERS SALARY SCALE (TSS) with better pay while teachers without B.ed or PGDE are placed on Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) with lower pay since they're not seen as qualified teachers
All 2013 teachers were placed on TSS structure. Both B.A, B.Sc, H.N.D with Level 8 step 3 and B.Ed with step 4.
TSS is for Academic, that is teaching staff, while CONPSS should be for non teaching staff.

TSS stands for Teachers salary structure, while CONPSS stands for Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure
Learn more about CONPSS https://camp.com.ng/conpss-salary-structure-2023-civil-servants-in-nigeria/

I was at Post Primary School Board (PPSB) last week for more information. I successfully applied for submission and recognition of my TRCN certificate, attaching the photocopy of my TRCN certificate to the application letter as directed. When the board recognizes my TRCN certificate, a step will be added, and one will be treated as a professional teacher.

Therefore, teachers on level 8 step 3, now level 12 step 6 are treated as nonprofessional teachers, while those formerly on level 8 step 4, presently on level 12 step 7 are treated as professional teachers.

If you have Master's degree and Ph.D after our employment, it can't be use for upgrade again, as I learned from the board, because the current level is above the level of Masters and Ph.D. (i.e level 9 for Master's, and level 10 for Ph.D)

Only what is possible is conversion from nonprofessional teacher to professional teacher, through your application for submission and recognition of TRCN certificate. (I.e addition of one step)

Last last the strike may not hold

Most labour fight is only benefiting the federal workers and hazardous to state workers. The last increment of minimum wages benefited the federal workers, and government. While I include government is that they achieved their aim by increasing taxation, and the cost of living move high (double) and state salary remain almost as it was before the minimum wage when comparing with the price of goods in the market both federal and state workers buy from.

In strike, they will drag us the state workers, once they achieve their aim, the state workers will be left behind, and cost of living will move higher.

The organised labour is considering suspending its planned strike after reaching five resolutions with the Federal Government on Sunday.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the resolutions, which were announced in a statement by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris, include a provisional wage increment of N35,000 for all treasury-paid federal government workers for six months; the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease public transportation difficulties associated with the removal of PMS subsidy; the provision of funds for micro and small-scale enterprises; a waiver of VAT on diesel for the next six months; and the commencement of payment of N75,000 to 15 million households at N25,000 per month for a three-month period from October-December 2023.

The statement also said that the parties agreed that the issues in dispute can only be resolved when workers are at work and not when they are on strike. It also said that a sub-committee will be constituted to work out the details of the implementation of all items for consideration regarding government interventions to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The NLC and TUC will consider the offers by the Federal Government with a view to suspending the planned strike to allow for further consultations on the implementation of the resolutions.

The meeting was chaired by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and was attended by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong; the Minister of State, Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite; the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan; and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

“v) The Federal Government will commence payment of N75,000 to 15 million households at N25,000 per month, for a three-month period from October-December 2023.

RESOLUTIONS:
“In light of the discussions held during the meeting, the following resolutions were reached:

“iii) A sub-committee to be constituted to work out the details of implementation of all items for consideration regarding government interventions to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
“iv) The lingering matter of Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State needs to be addressed urgently and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who participated virtually, pledged to resolve the matter.
“v.) NLC and TUC will consider the offers by the Federal Government with a view to suspending the planned strike to allow for further consultations on the implementation of the resolutions above.

That is truth. It will be harmonized may be by this month payment. As it stands now UBE are ahead of us with addition of about #35,000 in the month of August. While PPSB ahead of UBE with #12,000 in the month of September. #35,000 - #12,000 = #23,000. So UBE are up with about #23,000. I believed all will be harmonized, and the differences pay as arrears.

In all thanks be to God for the triple accelerated promotion. Kudos to our dear lovely governor for his excellent achievement within just 4 months in office, he is the best performing governor as far as am concern.

Rivers State Teachers' Salary Discrepancies

UBEB effected the promotion of staff in August and SSSB implemented theirs in September. It sparked a debate due to the discrepancies in remuneration. This note intends to help explain what is going on.

To simplify understanding, I'll use the salary grade of 2013 teachers to explain the confusion.

UBEB Teachers with B.Sc (8/3) were moved to (12/3) with a net pay of 108k. Teachers with B.Ed (8/4) were moved to (12/4) with a net pay of 112k.

Note that the above sum is for those who are subscribed to the contributory pension scheme. Those who didn't subscribe received 115k and 119k respectively. Anything other than the above amount received for the stated grade levels is classified under either of the following: *short payment*, *overpayment* or *omission*

SSSB teachers with B.Sc (8/3) were moved to (12/6) with a net pay of 120k. Teachers with B.Ed (8/4) were moved to (12/7) with a net pay of 124k.

Note that the above sum is for those who are subscribed to the contributory pension scheme. Those who didn't subscribe received 127k and 131k respectively. Anything other than the above amount received for the stated grade levels is classified under either of the following: *short payment*, *overpayment* or *omission*.

It's worth noting that each step in this grade level 12 has a salary difference of 4000 naira. 12/3 =108, 12/4 =112, 12/5= 116, 12/6= 120, 12/7=124.

The above can be verified from the payslips.

The two boards (UBEB and SSSB) should unify the promotion implementation in other to avoid a stand-off that could occur between teachers and board administrators. It's best if the steps used by SSSB are adopted by UBEB.
001bumsa:
Current pay slip
The payslip posted previously by 001bumsa in page 800 shows that Level 8 step 4 received gross of N134,887.18. After TAX, PENSION, UNION DUES, NHF deduction, Net stands at N112,648.64.

The above indicate that payment made to senior section was based on level 8 step 6 for B.Sc, B.A, and HND holders, and level 8 step 7 for B.Ed holders.

This mean that the analysis of mela82 is not far from the truth.

2013 Teachers were placed on TSS,those with Education qualification one step ahead. The promotion moved your step. Those employed before 2013 had that disparity in salary scale, this is where your TRCN certificate through your application will correct. For your TRCN certificate go to their office, persist you need it for something important it will be issued. They have 3 months window period.
I have my TRCN certificate already. Meaning those of us with TRCN certificate, PGDE certificate, and board approval, can get additional one step, if we meet ministry of finance.

I just spoke with a friend of mine in UBE (Primary Section) that's on GL 8/3 with HND and he said that he received #131k in his FCMB salary account. I spoke with a senior colleague of mine in RSSSSB and he said that when our Board submitted the new salary voucher to Ministry of Finance, submission of salary vouchers for August had already closed. He said that RSSSSB will receive the new salary when September salary is paid. He said that the constitution of the new Board is strictly for the signing of the new promotion letters and will not affect the new salary reflecting when September salary is paid. As we can already see, UBE received the new salary today without being issued promotion letters. I must commend the efforts of Comrade Adonye and his team as their actions spurred the government of the day to do the needful in order to avoid scandals. They're all true heroes and patriots.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME, SO WE SECRETLY SENT TEXT TO MADAM FLORENCE OGWUTUM WHO DROVE TO MEET US AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE GATE, SHOUTING WE ARE TEACHERS, THEN WE FINALLY GOT FAVOUR FROM THE GOVERNOR AND LEFT THE DSS SECURITY POST AND ENTERED THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

ON REACHING THERE, THE NUT CHAIRMAN WAS CALLED TO I IDENTIFY US BUT HE DENIED US THAT WE ARE NOT HIS TEACHERS, WE TOLD HIM THAT YOU DONT KNOW US BUT YOU ARE DEDUCTING OUR MONEY. BEFORE THE DSS TOOK US IN TO THE GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE HALL

*MEETING WITH THE GOVERNOR*

THE GOVERNOR CAME TO THE MEETING WITH THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR, CHIEF OF STAFF, .HEAD OF SERVICE,COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION, AND PDP STATE CHAIRMAN.

WE STATED OUR POINTS BASED ON OUR DEMANDS AS IS IN OUR STRUGGLE AND THE NUT CHAIRMAN STATED HIS DEFENSE.

*RESOLUTION/ GOVERNOR'S DIRECTIVE*

1. THE GOVERNOR INSTRUCTED THAT ALL DEDUCTIONS ON THE BUILDING BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

2. THE GOVERNOR, INSTRUCTED THE HEAD OF CIVIL SERVICE DR. GEORGE NWEKE AND THE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION TO CALL THE TWO BODIES, (NUT AND US) TO RESOLVE ALL ISSUES.

3. THE GOVERNOR INSTRUCTED THAT THE COST OF THE REMAINING BUILDING BE SENT TO HIM , THAT HE WILL COMPLETE THE BUILDING.

4. THE GOVERNOR INFORMED US THAT THE PROMOTION OF UBE HAS BEEN APPROVED AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED. BUT THAT OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IS ON HOLD DUE TO NO CONSTITUTED BOARD, BUT THAT HE WILL CONSTITUTE THE BOARD NEXT WEEK SO AS TO CONCLUDE THEIR PROMOTION.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY.

THANKS

FROM
CENTRAL PLANNING COMMITTEE

I have said it here and will keep saying it. Until we call or drag the governor, they will not act. Post on his Facebook and Twitter pages. Don't stop posting cos that's the way we can air our anger.
That is a good solution too.
Please we need link to his verified Facebook and Twitter page.
