Ibime: January ko? We are in mid-May.
This is not Serie A where you win league in March and finish season with 102 points Abeg the League was as good as won in January. Who were your challengers?. Never to do well spurs?..The ever useless Arsenal?...Or city that were and are still finding their feet? At least no one called Serie A the most competitive league in the world. A league where a Serial looser like Ranieri and come in dominate should really never be called competitive. |

Debroslink: You have said it all. I believe every true die hard Madrid fan will have Redondo in their all time 1st 11. As far as longevity and service are concerned, Redondo is above Makelele, Guti, Gravesen, in that CM role.
Like someone said here, Kross and Modric should thank their star for having Ronaldo in their team. Absolutely mate. Another underrated midfielder of that era was the one and only Pep. |

afrodoc2: I dont think i am underrating him. I am rating just 2 players who won WPOTY and champions league while playing for Madrid over him. It is those mentioning Kroos and maybe Modric that you can claim are underrating him
But is nice to go down memory lane once in a while. Ibime should teach these his Shekpe younglings about Eddie Newton and Dennis Wise. No you Doc. Just all the names being banded about bar Modric. raumdeuter: Ibime never teach them about Jodi Morris who could have been a Lampard if he met Roman too and Frank Sinclair Stop with this rubbish abeg. How is it different from Airmark saying Boateng would have been another Abrantee had He been born in Kumasi? |

Ibime: I would say by virtue of longetivity only would I agree with chic2pimp claims. There is really only maybe Guti that can claim to have played 5 years in that midfield in his prime. Give Kroos and Modric 2 more years and they overtake Redondo IMO. Was actually going to say Luka has to win the league first to be in the conversation. Who is chelsea's 2nd greatest midfielder of the last 20 odd years? Makalele? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 5:41pm On May 11, 2017 |
afrodoc2: Kroos has great talent but he never takes control, too docile. Never the boss always the accomplice. Redondo above him, people like Kroos should thank their eleda for Ronaldo. Like the majority of His career, Redondo is getting underrated yet again. Kind of reminds of Xavi's situation until Spain and Barca smartly decided to build around His midfield dominance. Also another thing that counts against Him as either you or Dayo already said was that He never had the opportunity to play in a star studded Madrid team. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 4:49pm On May 11, 2017 |
afrodoc2: Though i understand what you are saying Zidane is probably my all time no 1 so i will always be in his corner lol. It is arguable but Zidane did win a champs league and a WPOTY at Real. Even if Zidane's best years were at Juve the years he gave at Madrid are still greater than Redondo's best years IMO. And Figo's top years were evenly split between Barca and Real, he won the WPOTY at Real after all. If forced to choose i would say Zidane, Figo, Redondo then maybe Michel 4th. Doc, I would have to humbly disagree with you there. Might be your Zidane bias shinning through though . He did win the CL in real but Redondo won two. Truth be told Zidane's last two seasons at Madrid were mediocre to say the least. With regards to Figo, once again i'd have to disagree. Apart from His first year and possibly His second year, Madrid's Figo wasn't that Great. His best years were definitely at Barcelona. If You put a gun to my head and forced me to choose,Redondo would be my number one. Top two at worst. Shows you the calibre of Player Redondo was. |

Funlord2: Hmm....i watched too him back in uni then and I doubt if you go to their real thread and put this forth they would agree with you!
30 years is a long time! He had a sweet left foot, was technical, knew how to initiate attacks and knew how to carry water in midfield! Goal output was poor though and he was a bit of a sicknote! I'm sure zidane still gets props more than him in madrid! Legend yes, greatest of the last 30? Doubtful Not one bit.....I don't mince words. As a player, Zidane was the greater of the two however If we are to narrow it down strictly to their stints at Madrid, then Nando was the greater of the two. afrodoc2: If you narrow it to just CM then chic2pimp is correct, i dont think there is any argument. However if you include all midfield positions then Zidane is surely ahead. Then you have to consider Figo and Michel too. Players like Laudrup and Hagi did not play long enough at Madrid to enter the discussion IMO. Doc i'm not rating them on the entirety of their respective careers. Zidane was the greater of the two. So was Figo. I am narrowing it down to their performances in the white of Madrid. Zidane's best years was at Juve and Figo at Barca. Michel is a good shout but He did not do enough in Europe to be rated over Redondo. |

Nihilist: Mbappe is not better than Gabriel Jesus and that dude cost maybe 30M.
Mbappe is just on a streak in the cups. Of course theres a lot of potential there, but for someone who's been averaging less than 2 shots a game and just over 1 shot on target a game, I inclined to believe he's just been lucky as that goal output on such nearer underlying numbers is unsustainable long term.
Anything over 30M is too much for that dude £30M for the hottest young prospect in European footy currently. Are you having a laugh? |

If Neymar didn't play both legs against Juventus, ds same guys will come tell us, he would have opened the defence to win it for Barça Still if and buts. The facts are staring right back at ya. Brazil are a whole different beast with Neymar in their line up. |

Silva, Marcelo and Dani Alves are average players, Neymar is the only star player.
I get it, I get it.
I have seen the light tonight. Ofcourse they do. Take out Neymar from that team and they are nothing short of a workman like team. The whole world saw Her pathetic they are without Neymar at the last worldcup. They got smashed to bits by the germans. |

Greatihex: Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte thinks the strength of the Premier League makes it difficult to mount a combined domestic and European challenge. The Italian is bidding to take the Blues to a league and FA Cup double in his first season at Stamford Bridge, but has not had European football to contend with. Chelsea, who play Middlesbrough on Monday, need six points to win the title and could secure it before second-placed Tottenham next play after Spurs' 1-0 loss at West Ham on Friday night. Former Italy and Juventus boss Conte believes the competitive nature of the English top flight impacts on continental competition and the England team. Chelsea vs M'boro May 8, 2017, 7:00pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Conte said: "This league is very difficult. It's strong. It's a totally different to the Italian or Spanish leagues. "Every single game you must fight a lot and, I think, also, for this reason, it's not easy to arrive at the end of a European competition. "Also for the national team, it's very difficult to try and do very well in the World Cup or the Euros because you arrive at the end of the season and the players are tired. "Every game is very tough, every game you must put all yourself in the game. "If you think you're playing for a team who is playing at the medium level, you're actually preparing for a defeat. So says a man who has never done well in europe. Make hin Clear road make I see front abeg. |
